Yay! I'm a fan of the Rodeo Room. I finally managed to check out the RR on a Friday night. The most important thing to know is that you can literally walk past it if you're not paying attention, and the door to access this place looks a little deceiving. You may think it's not opened for business, but just pull the door handle towards you and Walla, you're in! This place is small, intimate and dark inside. There are a few round booths, a couple tables in the back and bar seating with stools to park yourself at. If you have a larger party, then it is recommended that you make a reservation. I was surprised at how quickly packed it became, so this place is no secret to those who know about it. Unfortunately, there is no parking lot so be prepared to look for street parking. Your best bet is across the street from Santa Cruz Market. I started with their $5 strawberry margarita on the happy hour menu. It was too sweet for me and a little sour, so I wouldn't order this again. For my second drink, I played it safe and tried their $5 Rose. It definitely tasted like a cheap Rose, and once again didn't do the job for me. I finally opted to try a drink off their regular menu in hopes that it would outshine the happy hour drinks. I ordered the Cutler's Cool Beans; which consisted of Cutler's Vodka, Cutler's Cold Brew, espresso, and mint. Yes, 3rd time is a charm and it was a stellar drink! After all, Cutler's vodka is thee best in town. This is definitely a drink you'd want to order if you're craving an after-dinner dessert but in a drink form. It wasn't overly sweet and it tasted similar to chocolate milk to me, but without the dairy. The mint wasn't overpowering either. For food, I tried their Korean wings which were only $7! These were chefs kiss good (muah!). They were a little sticky, had a slight spicy kick to them and the chicken was moist and juicy. I especially appreciated that they were flat wings, since they are easier to eat. I also ordered their Brussel sprouts which were amazing! They were nicely charred and served coated in a chili honey, lime, toasted almonds and parmesan. My friend had the chicken n waffles which were spicy and sweet. The chicken was drizzled with regular buffalo sauce and the waffles with a sweet syrup. She let me taste her food, and both complimented each other very well. I didn't get to try the mac n cheese, but my friend said it was really good! I shall order it on my next visit. Aside from the disappointment in happy hour drinks, there are still more to try! We decided to check this place out. Looked dead from outside and we weren't sure..but as we went in, the music told us we were in the right place. It was crowded and full but we were sat in a back patio that was cute and cozy. Grilled cheese bites were a little taste of heaven with the garlic aioli dip..so good! Trendy bar recently opened (mid-May) - superb décor, service and drinks, food could use improvement. We dropped in late Saturday evening around 8 pm, just before it got crowded. Atmosphere is superb - loved the long bar, massive longhorn skull, and Samsung Art Frame TV (I am noticing these at all the upscale places nowadays). They started us off with a complimentary strawberry-infused aperitif to whet our appetite, and we enjoyed it thoroughly while perusing the menu. From the 50-proof section, the missus selected the She is Beauty. I deliberated a while before choosing The Duke. The drinks arrived soon, each with a single big ice cube. We tasted our drinks, then each other's drinks. And swapped - I liked the fig infused butteriness of her drink, she preferred the Earl Gray taste of mine. It was time to order food (cheekily titled the 0-proof menu!). Our helpful server pointed us to the street tacos ("I have these at least three times a week") so we ordered those. I had a hankering for the salmon poke tacos so that was next, and my sensible better half rounded out our order with the buffalo chicken egg-rolls (which Yelpers are raving about). The food was hit or miss. The street tacos and buffalo chicken egg-rolls were excellent, the salmon poke tacos mediocre. We also ordered the bourbon cheesecake (with "bruised caramel") - unfortunately this was not a hit with either of us. Service was top notch - we left a huge tip as we were so impressed. Nestled in between The Brewhouse and The Neighborhood, the dimly lit, craft cocktail lounge is a great alternative to either (they all have their place on the block). Not a big place which is nice. The long bar and hand full of booths filled up by early evening with people of all ages and attire. It's Santa Barbara so come as you are. Despite a full house, the server and 2 bartenders seemed to keep everyone happy. I know I was. Small menu of food on the left and and specialty cocktails to the right. What an amazing night at the Rodeo Room! My girlfriend Imo and I decided to check this amazing place out as it has been on our list for awhile. I am so thrilled we did as it did not disappoint. The service was spectacular and our bartender walked us through every cocktail and went through the flavor profiles and answered any questions we had. I ended up going with She is Beauty and it was incredible! It is a fig bourbon cocktail with a vanilla tobacco smoke and was smooth to the taste and full of rich flavor. It was a fantastic drink and one of my favorites here in Santa Barbara! The place itself was a nice dimly lit space that felt very intimate and cozy. Perfect for a date night or outing with friends. The brussel sprouts are also a standout dish to me, and good balance with the tot. One thing to note about Rodeo Room is that it is a small room, so expect to sit at the bar unless you call ahead to reserve a booth. I have never had an issue getting a seat here, but it is always a risk, especially during happy hour. Hidden in a nondescript building off Montecito Street (look for the propped open door next to The BrewHouse), RR is now downtown Santa Barbara's take on Goleta's Imperial, yet with a Western cowboy vibe. Upon entering, you'll find a fully stocked bar specializing in bourbon and whiskey on the right, while the left wall is taken up with comfy booths for groups. A pair of longhorns above the booths set the feel. A backlit Native American portrait near the antique door to the kitchen reminds us of those who roamed these lands before us. RR is one of the few places that has reintroduced Happy Hour after a rough couple pandemic years. Honestly, it is the best deal in town! Daily from 5-6 pm (with the exception of Monday and Tuesday when they're closed) you can take advantage of $7 bites, plus $5 old fashioneds, strawberry margaritas or a glass of wine. YEEHAW! My partner and I walked in and sat belly up to the bar. We were immediately welcomed by Grace (serving tables) and Tyler (behind the bar). The service was friendly and impeccable by not allowing our water--nor cocktail--glasses run dry. We started with some bites that included the Pimento Cheese (delicious dipping cheese with perfectly salty housemade potato chips), RR Korean Wings (crunchy exterior yet moist chicken interior that has a slight kick but can be tamed by the accompanying dressing and celery bites), and Salmon Poke Tacos (fresh salmon cubes that are complemented by the simple flavors of cucumber, lime juice and a spicy mayo drizzle). We also were tempted to try every.single.one of their cocktails! The 80 Proof section has five unique old fashioneds and an additional nine other specialty cocktails. I personally appreciate their focus on details like having an icon of which glass each cocktail is served. Every drink was clearly crafted by a mixologist with a story behind its name--my favorite being the Honey Badger with its mystery ingredient of snake oil. While all of the old fashioneds were delicious, our top two favorites were the She Is Beauty (fig bourbon, vanilla tobacco smoke, demara, bitters) and Malicious Compliance (chile de árbol infused rye, El Silencio mezcal, cherry bitters, chocolate bitters). Both were simply unique and full of flavor, yet most importantly, didn't take away from the true bourbon essence.
