The service was immediately bad, like right when I opened the door bad. My pregnant wife and I just came back from the Santa Barbara Rodeo. We wanted to continue the night with some food and maybe some mocktails and drinks for me. As I opened the door for my wife, I held the door for two other women who were behind me. (Polite right...) the bartender didn't ask my wife how many people she was with as she was the first one in. The two women I held the door for was asked how many by the bartender and was immediately sat down... no other questions asked as I was the last to come in but my wife was the first to enter and should have been immediately helped if that was the case. What was worse was they immediately gave the two last seats to people who came in after my wife. They then saw I proceeded to be near the bar area with my wife and they made no eye contact with us as we took a menu to review our options. What was worse was the bartender who sat down the two ladies I held the door for didn't make eye contact with me to even offer the open booth. To rub even more salt in my wounds they made no effort to service me when I raised my hand for help when I had already wanted to place an order for my wife and I. What sent me over immediately as I had left in annoyance was they immediately helped the two women ahead of us. I'm mean the lack of respect and a sense of shame in poor service. I mean I know a bar is busy but it even goes for people who go to a bar the women should have also been forth right and said maybe his wife and him should have been seated first. The lack of manners from people this day and age is ridiculous. My friends all manage bars and own restaurants down in Los Angeles. I don't need to name drop but even the service there is better than this place. The DJ even felt bad for us as I was telling my wife how slighted we were and annoyed because the whole interaction was very very very lacking in accountability in their mistake. Just enough crunch, lots of flavor but not spicy, filled with chicken. Smothered cheese potatoes - 8/10 I enjoyed them but if you don't eat them quickly they become soggy and cold fast. I was surprised that they had a pickle flavor to them. Pimento cheese- 9/10 very good but really heavy and if you are 30 or older you'll need tums that night or the next day lol. This is a sweet gastropub in Santa Barbara. The aesthetic is very dark and romantic. We came in for happy hour and ordered a chili strawberry margarita and an old fashioned. We also ordered the 4 food items included in the happy hour menu, chicken bites, Brussels sprouts, street tacos and Korean wings. Let's start with the drinks, the chili strawberry margarita was SPICY! When I saw chili I assumed it would have a chili rim, which was my mistake. At first the spice hits hard but as you continue drinking it, it got better. The old fashioned was a good (my husband's words not mine) because I don't enjoy whiskey. Now the food, the Brussels sprouts were the star of the show, they were nice and crispy with the sweet honey lime sauce and cheese. The street tacos were good and well balanced, my only issue was that they got soggy quick and broke apart, but the flavor was good. The chicken bites with buffalo sauce were delicious, can't really mess up ordering those! Now the Korean wings were good but not as crispy as I'd hoped, they sauce was sweet but needed a little kick. Yay! I'm a fan of the Rodeo Room. I finally managed to check out the RR on a Friday night. The most important thing to know is that you can literally walk past it if you're not paying attention, and the door to access this place looks a little deceiving. You may think it's not opened for business, but just pull the door handle towards you and Walla, you're in! This place is small, intimate and dark inside. There are a few round booths, a couple tables in the back and bar seating with stools to park yourself at. If you have a larger party, then it is recommended that you make a reservation. I was surprised at how quickly packed it became, so this place is no secret to those who know about it. Unfortunately, there is no parking lot so be prepared to look for street parking. Your best bet is across the street from Santa Cruz Market. I started with their $5 strawberry margarita on the happy hour menu. It was too sweet for me and a little sour, so I wouldn't order this again. For my second drink, I played it safe and tried their $5 Rose. It definitely tasted like a cheap Rose, and once again didn't do the job for me. I finally opted to try a drink off their regular menu in hopes that it would outshine the happy hour drinks. I ordered the Cutler's Cool Beans; which consisted of Cutler's Vodka, Cutler's Cold Brew, espresso, and mint. Yes, 3rd time is a charm and it was a stellar drink! After all, Cutler's vodka is thee best in town. This is definitely a drink you'd want to order if you're craving an after-dinner dessert but in a drink form. It wasn't overly sweet and it tasted similar to chocolate milk to me, but without the dairy. The mint wasn't overpowering either. For food, I tried their Korean wings which were only $7! These were chefs kiss good (muah!). They were a little sticky, had a slight spicy kick to them and the chicken was moist and juicy. I especially appreciated that they were flat wings, since they are easier to eat. I also ordered their Brussel sprouts which were amazing! They were nicely charred and served coated in a chili honey, lime, toasted almonds and parmesan. My friend had the chicken n waffles which were spicy and sweet. The chicken was drizzled with regular buffalo sauce and the waffles with a sweet syrup. She let me taste her food, and both complimented each other very well. I didn't get to try the mac n cheese, but my friend said it was really good! I shall order it on my next visit. Aside from the disappointment in happy hour drinks, there are still more to try! Especially with the prices being reasonable. The staff was very welcoming and friendly, and I appreciate their hard work tending to a busy crowd. read more

We decided to check this place out. Looked dead from outside and we weren't sure..but as we went in, the music told us we were in the right place. It was crowded and full but we were sat in a back patio that was cute and cozy. Grilled cheese bites were a little taste of heaven with the garlic aioli dip..so good! Nestled in between The Brewhouse and The Neighborhood, the dimly lit, craft cocktail lounge is a great alternative to either (they all have their place on the block). Not a big place which is nice. The long bar and hand full of booths filled up by early evening with people of all ages and attire. It's Santa Barbara so come as you are. Despite a full house, the server and 2 bartenders seemed to keep everyone happy. I know I was. Small menu of food on the left and and specialty cocktails to the right. Full bar with premium liquors including our local Cutler's Distillery. I asked the bartender what he suggested and after we talked about my preferences it was their take on a classic Old Fashioned. Trendy bar recently opened (mid-May) - superb décor, service and drinks, food could use improvement. We dropped in late Saturday evening around 8 pm, just before it got crowded. Atmosphere is superb - loved the long bar, massive longhorn skull, and Samsung Art Frame TV (I am noticing these at all the upscale places nowadays). They started us off with a complimentary strawberry-infused aperitif to whet our appetite, and we enjoyed it thoroughly while perusing the menu. From the 50-proof section, the missus selected the She is Beauty. I deliberated a while before choosing The Duke. The drinks arrived soon, each with a single big ice cube. We tasted our drinks, then each other's drinks. And swapped - I liked the fig infused butteriness of her drink, she preferred the Earl Gray taste of mine. It was time to order food (cheekily titled the 0-proof menu!). Our helpful server pointed us to the street tacos ("I have these at least three times a week") so we ordered those. I had a hankering for the salmon poke tacos so that was next, and my sensible better half rounded out our order with the buffalo chicken egg-rolls (which Yelpers are raving about). The food was hit or miss. The street tacos and buffalo chicken egg-rolls were excellent, the salmon poke tacos mediocre. We also ordered the bourbon cheesecake (with "bruised caramel") - unfortunately this was not a hit with either of us. Service was top notch - we left a huge tip as we were so impressed. What an amazing night at the Rodeo Room! My girlfriend Imo and I decided to check this amazing place out as it has been on our list for awhile. I am so thrilled we did as it did not disappoint. The service was spectacular and our bartender walked us through every cocktail and went through the flavor profiles and answered any questions we had. I ended up going with She is Beauty and it was incredible! It is a fig bourbon cocktail with a vanilla tobacco smoke and was smooth to the taste and full of rich flavor. It was a fantastic drink and one of my favorites here in Santa Barbara! The place itself was a nice dimly lit space that felt very intimate and cozy. Perfect for a date night or outing with friends. The aesthetic was very speakeasy which is a plus for me! We paired some drinks with some amazing bites as well! The tots are perfectly crispy and come tossed with cheese, bacon, and scallions - they're an indulgent treat that's hard to resist. The brussel sprouts are also a standout dish to me, and good balance with the tot. One thing to note about Rodeo Room is that it is a small room, so expect to sit at the bar unless you call ahead to reserve a booth. I have never had an issue getting a seat here, but it is always a risk, especially during happy hour.
