Just went to dinner there tonight after a 12 hour shift, and it was a pleasant experience. Atmosphere was relaxing and the service excellent. The drinks and food were delicious especially the quality of ingredients in the food. It reminds me of the great Mexican restaurants growing up in the 80s. On 2/21/23 we went to have lunch at Rodrigo's in Corona. I orders the lunch taco plate but I don't eat meat and added if I could have fish instead. Amy said yes. So no meat. The food here is decent. Some of the dishes feel more authentic than others. When this used to be Don Jose's, the flavor of the food was better. I noticed a huge difference in the flavors of their crunchy tacos. The service here is amazing, however! The hosts, servers, and bussers were all exceptional and friendly. Been coming to Rodrigos as a chain for years. For the last year we have been coming to this location. Food is typically consistent throughout locations. Our favorite is the champagne brunch. Love the new addition of the avocado toast, and it's almost impossible for your champagne glass to drop below half. Only notes- if you order OJ for your champagne they bring it in a glass with ice (even if you ask no ice) which makes it hard to pour into champagne flute. We visited over the holidays and I know they were terribly short staffed so things were slow, but it was the only time I sent my food back. Came here on a Wednesday; started off with stale chips and the salsa is all tomato. Food and drinks were not good. Both Margaritas had too much tequila; hard to drink. Had the beef flautas; the tortilla was over cooked. Too much cheese. Rice and beans had no taste; also caked in cheese. Enchilada had no taste; only the crispy ground beef taco was good. The food has always been top notch. The service is very quick. The food is plentiful. The drinks are always perfect. The service by the people is quick and polite. The service is not quite as friendly. Meaning they don't often stand and chat with you and smile. But I don't go to a restaurant to socialize. I go to eat and drink and Rodrigo's is where I go for Mexican food. My wet burrito is beef tender and flavorful. My chicken enchilada is stuffed with mostly white meat chicken. My margarita is filled with tequila. Amazing chili relleno is great. Maybe a little noisy sometimes. read more

How do they call this Mexican food? Let's start with the guacamole, no flavor, not fresh on a bed of lettuce? El Torito even makes it fresh! On to the main dishes, combination plate was basically a pile of sauces and cheese with some Rice-a-roni, the pollo and arroz well the pictures speak for themselves, raw chicken and melon peels. No bueno! They did remove the pollo and arroz from the bill for that they get one star. Service was just okay, our waitress clearly didn't want to be there(don't blame her). Stopped in for lunch to try this restaurant out! The service was excellent very attentive. Fresh chips and tasty salsa, tomatoes left a bit large though. They had a nice lunch menu for around $10. I had the Taco and enchilada combo. Shredded beef a bit dry, but still a great taco. The cheese enchilada was delicious, and love the green onion on top! The beans were great, but the rice needs to stay in the kitchen or the box it came out of. Definitely won't order rice again. My husband had the chimichanga with Chili Colorado and it looked delicious. He said he would definitely order it again. Ambience was nice. Will definitely be going back despite the rice! read more

This place is for old white folk people who have no taste buds. Very tex-mex vibey but not in a good way. The rice is always undercooked. Overpriced and bland food. I've been here I don't know how many times because my grandma (yes you guessed it also a white old folk) always wants to come here when there's a variety of other amazing mexican food spots around here and no improvements over the years from what I've noticed. Overall I had a great experience here, food and atmosphere was really nice, felt like I was in a western saloon family restaurant. Worth the price for what you get and the menu options are great! When we're in the area we like to stop into Rodrigos. The fajitas and there signature specialty wet burritos are a few of are fam favorites also try the tortilla soup its delicioso. There chilli rellenos are also authentically tasty. The only down side for me is the rice it doesn't pair with the dish it's usually under cooked and it lacks that authentic mexican rice flavor more of a boiled in a bag rice. 4 stars Rodrigos . I wish I could give ZERO STARS. This was my first time ever ordering from them and they gave the wrong order. Had to drive another 40 min round trip to Pick it up. Wow, this isn't Mexican food......it's more like canned beans and microwaved meals. Had I seen the health departments grade of a B before we were added to the wait list I would have immediately passed. Stopped in for Taco Tuesday, we were seated after a short wait for dinner in the dining side of the restaurant not the bar. We got chips and salsa right away (good service by the man refilling our chips and salsa) and then waited 20 minutes plus for the server to even greet us. We ordered from the taco bar, meat was good but the tortillas were dry and cold. When a tortilla is heated up correctly it doesn't crack and crumble, it folds easily and nicely, these cold tortillas were terrible. My daughter ordered the Mexican pizza with chicken and that was quite literally the worst meal we've had, it was a plate of slop. Refried beans with zero flavor that I was certain were canned, it was a plate of burnt globs of cheese, burnt bean edges, there was supposed to be a flour tortilla somewhere underneath the globs of cheese and beans that we didn't see. The "pizza" had these huge pieces of dry chicken that tasted funny, not good. We were served margaritas in plastic cups and the server was clearly overwhelmed, the hostesses were not warm or welcoming nor did they acknowledge us leaving. The only saving grace that made us stay were the mariachis, that was the only pleasant thing of this place. We will never return. read more

My family and I have been customers of Rodrigo's since it was called Don Jose's we have been going there for 20 years, it was my wife's favorite restaurant. On Sunday we arrived at 11:30 for a Mother's Day lunch - the place was busy as was expected. We were seated quickly. It took a little longer than usual for the waiter to come and take our order. Our orders were taken and we talked about the movie we were going to see (Planet of the Apes) and caught up on Mother's day shout outs. We noticed that tables that were seated after us were getting their food while we were still waiting for ours. The waiter came by and said sorry for the longer wait your food should be out shortly. I said okay but added we had theater tickets and our window to eat was closing. Manager comes by and says sorry about the wait we can get your kids free dessert - I said we are on a tight time line and will not be able to stay for dessert. 20 more minutes pass still no food. Total wait time for lunch 58 minutes. We get up to leave and suddenly the food shows up. It is undercooked, cheese un-melted and cold on the inside. Sorry that was as far as our patience goes... We left. Arrived 11:30 left 1:15 - yes that 1 hour and 45 minute lunch - for no food and crappy service. You guys have to do better than that. Left a mark on Mother's Day that I'm sure we will be talking about next year when we are at a DIFFERENT RESTUARANT! read more

This is one of our favorite dining spots. We have been coming to this location for about 5 years since we moved to the area. We eat here about once a week. The servers are all friendly and know us well. Some will just bring out the drinks we always get. My favorite thing to order is Seafood Enchiladas. I am happy that it has still been available during the pandemic. I love how at this location, they give each person their own salsa. We most recently ate there this past Saturday. We were not able to eat inside due to Riverside County being back in the Purple Tier. However, they set up tables in their entry/waiting area which is covered and well shaded. This a very fun restaurant! Good food and great drinks! The service is great , Marilyn, Emily and Laura are amazing! Love the veggie fajitas and many of the dishes. I do wish their Carne was made with skirt or flap steak. Their Margarita's are very nice, good variety! Sometimes they come have a little too much juice. I am just being picky here. The major complaint I have here from being five stars is the frozen Guacamole that they use, is watery and really is bad Impression of the rest of their food. I would rather pay more for fresh or table side! They stop taking kitchen orders at 10pm but should be 11pm or later, nowhere else in Riverside can you find a Mexican Restaurant open past 10pm serving great food. On the Friday and Saturday they have karaoke and some really good regular singers with variety of music which is fun and makes us want to stay longer but they close for 11pm. They have mariachi on Sunday from 6-8pm and while I have never experienced it , I plan too. The interior could use a update is straight out of the 80's but it also gives it some rustic charm. They need to advertise outside cause people don't know all the benefits/specials of this restaurant, it has So much more potential. The Corona location is little nicer but this place has a really nice charm. If they fix the Guacamole and few other things this could be the best Mexican Restaurant in all of Riverside! read more
