We're still fairly new to the area, but Rodrigo's was one of the first places we tried. Coming from San Diego, we needed some decent Mexican food. During Covid, this was one of our go-tos - whether it was just us or friends/family too. The staff has been friendly since our first visit here and the food has always been great (love the flautas!). But today, we had an even better experience. We were lucky enough to get seated in Leah's section. She was sweet, engaging with the kids, had everything we asked for within seconds and we can tell she's like this all the time. We understand how hard it is to get ANYONE to return to work following Covid, let alone someone as great as she. Keep her, Rodrigo and give her a damn raise! She's awesome. This restaurant is part of a local chain under names of Don Jose's & Ricardo's. Growing up in OC I've been eating at these restaurants for almost 50 years! Before I agreed to retire in Oceanside I made my husband promise to drive me to the Laguna Hills location at least once a month. That's how much I love their food. We live about 35 minutes from both the Laguna Hills and Temecula locations. After visiting the Temecula restaurant I will now only go to the Laguna Hills Rodrigo's. In comparison to all the other locations this one lacks the Spanish atmosphere and although our server was great they obviously are cutting corners on their food. To start, a small glass of tea was $4 and very weak. The salsa was 90% water, couldn't even get any to stick to my chips. My taco was only half full (they're usually over flowing). I always order a side of the sauce they put on the Rodrigo's Special and theirs was a different color and lacked the same flavor. The refried beans were very soupy. Overall I was disappointed in my experience. I want this chain to succeed so I hope they take my comments as constructive and bring it up to par with what we all expect from Don Jose's/Ricardo's/Rodrigo's. read more

It's pretty sad when you sit at a restaurant and no one's acknowledges you. Two other couples can in after us and they immediately got served. It may have been busy but a simple, "we see you, or we'll be right with you" would've been better than nothing. We came here to meet friends who picked this restaurant due to the proximity to their home. I checked the Yelp reviews and we should've walked out. But we gave them the benefit of the doubt. Food was bland as described in other posts. We ordered fajitas with shrimp, chicken and steak. We did not eat the steak after a small taste test. It was not good. Service and ambiance was good, but did not make up for the lack of flavor/quality in food. Even our friends who ordered carnitas thought their dishes lacked any flavor and were dry. Place looks great but was a huge disappointment. Food was really bad. I ordered Shrimp tacos the Shrimp was not fresh with no flavor. My sons burrito was made not how he ordered it twice. Service wasn't horrible but wasn't good never got a refill on my drink. Was charged for a side of guacamole the we didn't order. Salsa was rough chips not fresh. I was invited to lunch at Rodrgigo's by a family member who just recently moved to Temecula, but said she loved place and went all the time. Naturally, I checked the Yelp reviews out before going. I wasn't too sure what to think. Half of the reviews weren't very good at all and the other half were great. I decided to go with an open mind. I showed up an a Sunday around noon. The restaurant had a Sunday brunch going on at the time, so it was pretty packed. We were seated in a decent amount of time. The restaurant itself was very huge! Looking around things seemed nice and clean. We were off to a good start! Fast forward to ordering. Out server wasn't very friendly. She didn't smile or respond when we thanked her for delivering items such as water and silverware. We ordered our food and it was delivered in a good amount of time. We were offered refills on chips and salsa by the bus person who was friendly and smiled. During the time we were waiting the mariachi band approached us multiple times. It was almost as if we were being pressured to have them play. Not super cool because we had a little one that fell asleep so we kindly asked they come back. We didn't mean every 5 minutes. They did sound good from what I could hear when they were playing at other tables. On to the food itself. I ordered cheese enchiladas with rice and beans. The rice definitely reminded me of Rice aRoni and wasn't cooked all the way. The beans weren't horrible but were covered in cheese and I poured lots of salsa on them, so that likely helped. The enchiladas were ok. Nothing special. They had kind of a brownish colored bland sauce versus a tasty red which I was under the impression they would be and I am used to eating. I doused them in salsa too! I did request the spicy salsa after reading previous Yelp reviews and it was better than the regular that the others at the table were eating. I really I love Mexican food, and have been to many Mexican restaurants, so I might be a little picky, but I just don't think Rodrigos comes out on top. A few little improvements could go a long way. Rodrigos's used to be the place for Happy Hour. The food has slipped in taste, everything seems pre frozen. The Margaritas are higher in price which is ok but there smaller in size. Just not the same place. Workers seem very unorganized not knowing whose doing what. Rodrigos on Main and Parkridge has always been our go to for dinner. It depends on who's cooking in the back. The prices have gone up like everywhere else. But the food is generally good. Used to come here 4 years ago with my mom and the food was pretty good, they had good drinks, and an extensive menu. Decided to come here last weekend and wow has it changed. We ordered two margaritas and it was all purée and no alcohol (super thick) then we ordered the beef tacos combo and the mini taco plate, the order came out in like 5 minutes super hot and the food was Absolutely disgusting. The worst Mexican food I've ever had. Insanely overpriced as well. Both taco plates were over $15 . Should have known it was trash by the overwhelming amount of old people on a Saturday evening. We ate here tonight. The food is like all the others locations, descent not great Mexican food, we have a fiesta tostada (which was yummy, love the bowl) and a fiesta burritto which was just OK. The interior of the restaurant is way nicer and cleaner than the locations we've been to in OC. Our server Candace is 5 stars...she was top shelf. She's efficient and a pleasure to talk to and didn't mind answering our many questions, we'd go here again just for her. She deserves a raise, she's that good! I have always wanted to try this place since I drive by it often. My husband and I stopped in on a Saturday evening. The parking lot was quiet and so was the inside as we stepped in. we were seated right away which was nice. The restaurant had a faint strange smell not of food. Not sure what it was. we were seated in a booth that had dried up food on the wall which I find un appealing. The salsa was good not to mild and not too spicy. the chips were too greasy. The menu prices are a bit high. The décor is more of a modern yuppy look. The food was okay. The enchiladas were boiling when the waitress brought out the plate and I was not a fan of the sauce. The rice was good but the refried beans tasted canned. We had a very nice waitress that was checking on us and brought extra napkins without us asking which is a plus. read more

The waiter was awesome. Spent $70 on dried out meat. Got dessert to go and it not at it was served in restaurant. When I called to inquire why it was not like it, their excuse was that the whip cream would go flat. I suggested to put the whip cream in another container to preserve it. No one ever told me that I would not be getting it the way it comes to the table. The person on the phone really showed no remorse. Again the waiter was amazing. We have gone to Ricardos for over 29 years in Buena Park and we miss it living in Temecula. We have given this location a chance 4 times and the food is terrible. Our recent experience, we were not greeted at the table. a wonderful server Keira ran over even though it wasn't her station to assist us. The food was luke warm, potatoes were mush, tacos completely fell apart. When Keira tried to fix it, the cooks wouldn't let her fix the food without her scraping the fallen apart taco off our plate. I wanted to write this review to give Keira the acknowledgement she deserves. She was very attentI've and tried to remedy the situation As best a she could even taking back talk from the cooks who sent out mediocre food. I was at Rodrigos for the New Year to take my relatives from San Diego, the service was great and an excellent waiter. When we got to the restaurant, We sat in a area where the air conditioning was a full blast, my food wasn't that great as always, hot sauce was different , got cold quick and by the time we were almost done with our dinner, the smell of sewage was so bad, we left immediately without asking for dessert and coffee like always do. This wonderful establishment has been our go to for about 13 years. The entire staff are so friendly, courteous, and attentive. And that has never swayed. For us the food is perfect to our liking. There is one person there who really makes an effort to make sure that all of his guests are 100% happy. His name is Marco and he has been taking care of us there for many years. Trying out a New Mexican place. This place "looked" like it had potential, but what a let down. The waitress was nice enough, the free tortilla chips were overly salty, luckily the salsa was lacking salt so I guess that evens its self out (right?). The Carne con Cameron was bland it also tasted maybe a bit like freezer burn, and absolutely no seasoning, the carne was definitely freezer burned and lacking all flavor, (not sure what that was about but maybe hospital food was the inspiration). The corn was overly buttered (I believe that was intentional). The simplest thing as tortillas was a failure, not warmed up properly I couldn't fold one without it braking. The cherry coke must have been made with a 50/50 coke to grenadine ratio. A family of 4 was $65 not counting the tip.. this place was a let down and a WASTE of money. Now true I might be hard on this review but Mexican is not all that hard to mess up, but bravo to this place they accomplished it!! Now I'm off to Costco to get pizza read more

Absolutely looove this place!! My mom and I come here at least once a month or so with my grandparents and I only get the kids' cheese quesadilla and fries and root beer but it's still very good. One thing I will say is that one time, a waitress came over to seat us, (it was just my mom and I since my grandparents hadn't arrived yet) and she tried to seat us in a booth that was on a higher step up from the rest of the tables when she could see that I was in a wheelchair. I looked at her and said, "I'm in a wheelchair, I can't go up there." She seemed slightly annoyed and sat us at a table that was ground-level so I could stay in my chair. I had high hopes for this place but menu it's very small food it's blend and they add beans to everything to make look full, I order a chicken chimichanga I got 3 pieces of chicken and the rest stuff with beans . My husband got shrimp fajitas, it was worst shrimp was old and veggies were boil chunks of tomatoes everywhere. Guacamole it's no real avocado it's that fake paste u buy at the store . I got a Margarita Drink for $7 just pure ice small glass no even taste like margarita. We only pay and left cause I feel sorry for the server to have to represent this place but I could go to Taco Bell and get better food . Total bill was $46 plus $10 tip.
