Mixed review on this. The food: The mac and cheese is to DIE FOR! This is on par with Beechers in Pike Place IMO. Also the cheese curd bites with honey jalapeno dip is the bombsauce! The bar tenders are awesome! And the list of beers on tap is pretty extensive. The place: To get to the bar you have to walk through a labyrinth of hap hazard routes through the brewery. Depending on the time of day you will get hit by the smells of hops and barely brewing. Sometimes can be good sometimes bad. Once you make it to the back of the brewery you have to walk through the store to then wait to be seated. After someone gets you they take you upstairs to either the restaurant or bar side. IMO the ambiance is cool if you like the seaside woodys pirate feel. Though the layout could be used waaay better. Tips: Skip the tour unless you REALY want to know about the brewing process but know its a short tour. By walking to the bar you basicly give yourself a self guided tour. Once in the bar the bartenders know their 'ish so you can ask them anything you would have learned on the tour. Join the Rouge Army when you are there! You get some awesome stuff via email, access to events and a bonus surprise when you join on site! read more

If I could pin a 0.05 star on this joint I would. I say this as an avid fan of rogue brewing. We ordered the ceviche. Don't order the ceviche. Don't order anything, save beer. The 'tour' isn't much - the distillery is tiny, so everyone is crowded 'round the bar as the bartender explains the ins and outs of making the various liquors - but it's still interesting and at the great price of FREE, worth a listen. Samples of all the liquors are available at a buck a pop, and the bartenders will make you a mixed drink or serve you a beer if you're done sipping straight shots. The pink spruce gin and the hazelnut rum are both delicious, top-notch and the flavor is well-worth the price tag. After the tour, take a stroll down to the marina and enjoy the view. A group of 4 of us showed up for the tour of the Rogue Brewery and got stood up by the guide so we went to the House of Spirits and it was fun. We learned some things about different alcohols and had a taste testing. Very relaxing and clean place. Small but right on the bay and it was a beautiful day for the doors to be open and just chill. The chowder was better than Chowder House and Mo's. Chips and salsa were nothing special. Good experience. read more

Just down the road, a hop, a skip and about 10 jumps away from the Rogue Brewery is this tiny little "house" on the bay where the Spirit Gods make Rogue dreams come true. After a huge brewery fail and by huge I mean.....annoying teenage or barely 21 host at the "Brewers on the Bay" Rogue Brewery annoyed the living crap out of me, i took my name off the list and headed over here. Surely they must have one beer on tap over there. Well I was wrong, not beer on tap, but some Rogue bottles in a pepsi cooler.........Works for me. We arrived around 3:30 and it turned out there was a 4pm tour. "sure, i'll take the tour". Bartender said well, just sit here and turn around when I start, the distillery is right behind you. Sweet. Yep, you heard me...they make their gins and whiskey right there and we got a bar side tour. It was another accidental find that I recommend. After you go to the brewery to see and smell where Rogue Beer is made, skip the Restaurant if you just want a beer and head over here. You will only get a small selection of Rogue Beers, but it's all you will hope for and more. Oh and be sure to have a tasting for only a $1. Heck, get a glass of gin while you are at it. read more

I had great food, good drinks, and horrible service here, it was really a mixed bag. Both my dining companion and myself really enjoyed our meals; I had the halibut fish and chips and it was the best fish and chips I've ever had, hands down. My dining companion had a very tasty pulled pork sandwich with some perfectly seasoned tater tots, all super good. I started with a whiskey/beer combo, which was enjoyable, but the cocktails we ordered afterward weren't great; I asked for a perfect Manhattan, which was made with just dry vermouth instead of half dry/half sweet and came in a glass that was only half full so it looked like someone had drank most of it, very strange. My dining companion had a milk-based cocktail which was also a letdown. Our server was apathetic and inattentive, she made us feel like we were a massive inconvenience to her. When I ordered my drink, I asked, "Could I get the Manhattan, but could I get that perfect?" and she just walked away. I asked my companion, "So, did I order that, or was that a no..." The food was good enough that I'd go back, but hopefully I'd get a server who was having a better day. Tip: make sure you try their liquors before you buy them, because they have very unique flavors you may not expect. read more

Great view of the Newport Bridge! Heather was our bartender and Alicia the cook was great. The food was really good. It sounded like from conversations they've got a newer dedicated crew in the front of house (i used to work in restaurants) as well as the kitchen and behind the scenes. The Rogue House of Spirits is not nearly as well known or visible as "Brewers on the Bay" which is part of/connected to the Brewery itself, but it's just down the street. It's a super clean joint right on the water with a number of gins (e.g. spruce) & whisky Rogue makes right there, and you can of course get some other mixed drinks with their stuff in it too. Ask for a sip/taste of different kinds of gin they have, and enjoy the subtle difference in the flavor. I found them to be all smooth & refreshing. The people that work in this joint are super cool too - my girlfriend & I talked to Allen & John, and they were incredibly friendly, welcoming & funny. Also, we were just surpised how much quieter, less crowded, more intimate & cleaner this place was in comparison with the brewery/pub. One drink I would recommend is this pineapple gin drink with infused pineapple slice - unbelievable! read more

My boyfriend and I came upon Rogue when we took a mini get away to Newport in the summer of 2012. We loved the atmosphere, and the free beer samples were great. Since then we have given them the benefit of the doubt, and gone back 3 times. Each time more disappointing than the last. We order (what is one of our FAVORITE pizzas) the captains pizza, with the exceptions of onions as I cant eat them. The waitress brought us our pizza, after waiting nearly 45 minutes (and about starving by the time it got there!). I took one big bite full of onions. We told the waitress, she apologized and said she would have them make another pizza. She even brought us a basket of fries to help us in the waiting as they were very busy that night. Once she brought the second pizza, it was yet again covered with onions. It was clear at this point the task of leaving them off was far too difficult for the cooks, so i decided I just wouldnt eat. When she returned and saw me sitting, she asked what was wrong. We tried to laugh it off and say it still had onions but it wasnt a big deal, we would take the pizza. She looked over at me with frustration and in a snotty tone asked "What would you like me to do about it?". I was pretty upset, hungry and disappointed in the service we received as we had to pay for our pizza anyways. A few months went by, and we returned, to give it one more shot. This time during lunch hour. Our waiter sat us down at the table and told us they were too busy to serve pizza. We chuckled and explained to him we had driven two hours for their pizza specifically as my boyfriend was very fond of it. He looked at the two of us and said "I dont know what to tell you. You can leave." So we did just that. I know it sounds crazy, but we went back a third time. People have bad days, we're all human. We figured there was no way we could get a bad experience the THIRD time. This time much to our surprise, our waitress was friendly and fun. We were sitting next to a group of older people who also werent satisfied with their food once it arrived. We got the pizza we ordered, without the onions and we had almost thought we had died and gone to heaven. But -- the waitress "accidentally" pressed small when putting in our order, instead of the large we ordered. She told us not to worry, we could have the small, and our original order would be out soon. We were definitely thinking this made up for all the previous times we had visited. Much to our surprise she returned with another small pizza, made correctly. She told us that was their way of compensating for her mistake. I dont want to complain too much, but 2 small pizzas ends up coming out be about half of the size of a large pizza. Do the math. She in turn made us pay for the large, and we only received half of the pizza. Now if you ask me, she admitted fault, and told us she would bring us our order, the way we ordered it. Why we should have to compensate for her mistake is beyond me. We should have been given our LARGE pizza that we ordered. Not two smalls that makes up half the food. Needless to say, I will not be returning to another Rogue brewery anywhere. They have to have the most incompetent people working at any given place. Two VERY dissatisfied, repeated customers. We are normal people, who understand mistakes happen and no one is perfect. But enough is enough. read more

Oops what happened to rouge? When you go to a "distillery" and you order a sample of a craft whiskey...and they give it to you in a shot glass. You know you're in trouble. They claim to have daily tours. Our tour consisted of "look behind you". That's the still, we know nothing about it. The single malt whiskey cost $9 a shot and was a step below a bottom shelf blended scotch whisky. I enjoyed the brewery, and like the beer. Maybe in time the spirits will improve? First off - This is a little hard to find and the directions from our bar tender in the Ale house where vague. Second- This was the biggest waste of time ever. There two so called "bartenders" didn't have a clue about their liquor nor how it was made. Per there website they have guided tours every day. That was a complete joke. The two bartenders just pointed behind us saying, it's all back there its explanatory. They were unable to figure out there drink menu and made me the worst drink I have had in a while. It tasked of just soda water with a sugar rim. We did a few tasters of the liquor strait. There Dark rum had no flavor (wich explained why my drink was so horrible.) there hazelnut rum smelled nice but tasted like burnt hazelnut and hair. The prices they are selling this for is amazingly ridicules. Who ever actually is willing to pay around $50 for a bottle is crazy! This is just a PR stunt to try and get more people in the door. I'll give them an E for Effort. Their liquors are pretty good, especially the Chipotle Spirit, however the whole setup for tasting and the "tour" is somewhat disappointing! You can try all of their liquors in a tasting area for $1 per "mini shot" which is essentially a 1/4 of a shot. The "tour" consisted of walking across the street to the barreling area and watching the distiller do a couple steps of the distilling process. He was really good at explaining the process and answered questions but it was like your traditional beer tour where you walk around to the different brewing areas. A group of 6 visited this restaurant on a Sunday mid afternoon including my 87 year old mother inlaw. We waited over a half hour to be seated. No problem there. 3 of the party ordered clam chowder. 1 ordered a sandwich, 1 a salad and 1 child fries. The waiter forgot a drink, the food took an hour to arrive, the bread that came with the chowder never arrived. The waiter said it was coming. When we asked the waiter again, he said none was available?? He said he would get a manager. He came back and said a manager was not available but said we would get a discount and a free case of beer of our choice. ( This is a brewery). We thanked him and took the card for the case of beer. When we checked at the front they said they needed a manager. The manager said the waiter misunderstood. We left, no beer, will never be back. read more

We have always been fans of the Rogue brews, and we weren't disappointed when we visited their House of Spirits. The food was very good, and the brews were exceptional. Try the beer sampler! You'll only get some of their concoctions here, and they have a long list of tempting beers. The service was great and the other diners there with us seemed to be enjoying themselves as much as we were. You can get a great view of the Newport bay front if you get the right tables. read more

The walk getting in from the parking lot was weird but plenty of signs were posted to direct you around the brewery areas, which was kinda like a non guided tour of the brewery. The bartender was very personable and attentive despite how busy he was. He was helpful and knowledgeable about the products and menus. Ugh... Left hungry. Terrible freaking food. My family and I went there just today. I enjoyed the beer. It was tasty. Yes, it was on the expensive side but what would one expect when on the coast. But the food. I got the Mac and cheese with bacon while sounds good with all the different cheeses on it, the execution of the dish that is sad. It was about a cup of elbows noodles, the kind you buy in a bag at your store. They were bloated from being over cooked and they weren't properly drained so the sauce was runny and I guess they were having a salt shortage cause it has no flavor. Just mealy bland yellow cheese on bloated water logged cheap noodles all that for $13. I could of made that at home and ten times better for only $3 in cost. My son got the kids version and it was the same bloated noodles with only a sprinkle of yellow cheese on top. My husband got a hamburger and he said it taste like a Patty from Safeway and even though he ordered it cooked to med rare it was well done. Like really well done.... Sad gray color. I'm not surprised I guess but for $60 bucks... I would of rather bought some nice steaks and BBQ at home. Waste of money. Going home to make some dinner for my son and I since we're still hungry. read more

Went to the House of Spirits two years ago for the 'tour' and LOVED it. The guys who work there are funny and awesomly entertaining. Bought some gin and slurped it right up. My complaint is their crazy hours. I've tried now to go there two different times to buy more gin and they have been closed, the last being just this past Friday. The website says 'closed for the winter' but then lists hours of noon to 8:00 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. Well they weren't open at 12:45 this Friday. Brewers on the Bay said they should be open today, but I called and no answer. It annoyed me so much, I went to the liquor store instead and bought a different brand of gin. I can get Rogue locally, but wanted to get it from the source. I probably would have even bought more that way. They lost my business. read more

Our stop in here was slightly underwhelming after enjoying beers in the brewery next door. For $1 each, you get about a quarter shot of their spirits: a classic spruce gin, a pink gin aged in pinot noir barrels (pretty interesting and smooth, and I'm not a gin lover), hazelnut spiced rum (also smooth and not too heavy on the spice part like some rums), Dead Guy whiskey, a single malt scotch and a chipotle spirit (disappointing to me - no heat). We took home bottles of the whiskey ($40) and spruce gin, and I enjoyed the hazelnut rum quite a bit too. It would make some delicious warm/holiday drinks. You can also purchase cocktails from their creative menu, or at least peruse it and get ideas for mixology at home. We had a really great server at the pub and that made the empty distillery with less engaged bartender kind of a downer, so we were in and out pretty quickly. They also sell shirts and glassware here, including different shirts than you can find next door. read more

Rogue makes spirits???!!!!! I learned from the tour at the Rogue brewing company that Rogue also makes spirits!! Also, they have the only international award winning American Gin, and I LOVE gin, so i had to come check it out... It is an unassuming little building on the bay that is full of GOOD stuff! The staff was very informative, and seriously funny/entertaining. I think there are only four or five people that run the place. Matt was our bartender/guide and I happened to be there while one of the distillers was having a cocktail, so it was quite the educational tour from a barstool! Literally you sit at the bar and look at the spirits being made behind a cyclone fence with razor wire at the top. I have been on many tours of distilleries and this one is extraordinarily unique for many reasons...you will just have to go and witness for your self why!! I highly recommend trying the whiskey and the gin! read more

Worst service ever! First review I've ever done but don't waste two hours of your time! Only took 1/2 hour to be seated at 3:30 in the afternoon but then took an hour and a half to take 2 adults and 2 children's drink and food orders, ridiculous!!!
