With all the hot stones it did get pretty Smokey and hot inside the restaurant. Omg, do not come here on Valentine's day, even with a reservation. This place was crazy busy and crazy understaffed. Our reservation was for 730, and we probably did not eat till closer to 930. For a place where the food comes out undercooked and you have to cook your own food, that is a ridiculous amount of time to wait. The old fashioned was delicious. The calamari was perfectly seasoned and crispy. I got the New York strip, and my partner got the bison. It was cool to cook your meat how you want on the hot stone, but the quality of meat wasn't amazing. The bison was more tender and more flavorful than the strip. Both came with chimichurri, which didn't look fresh and was not the best in flavor. The fries and garlic herb fries were nice and crispy. Food and service were alright. Went on Valentine's Day so expected a longer wait time than average. But writing this because I was annoyed with their branded vehicle being parked in one of the two handicap spots in front of the location. It did have a handicap placard hanging so technically nothing wrong with it being there. However, the vehicle was there for the whole two hours I was dining inside, and I'm sure it is there frequently. It reads as lazy and inconsiderate to those who need the parking spot, like my 89 year old grandma I took to dinner. Came for dinner and the staff explained the stars of the restaurants were meat cuts served on a 700 degree volcanic stone which maintains heat for 45 minutes. You're able to cut and cook your own meat to your liking or just have the kitchen cook it to your desire. I got an 8oz filet mignon with a plain baked potato and fresh fruit on the side. The filet mignon was delicious and the sides were good as well. Note that if you get fruit, the heat from the stone will heat your fruit up too. I also got the flan for dessert and it was nice and creamy. Overall a treat yourself kind of restaurant. Do know that the ventilation in the restaurant is subpar so there's a lot of smoke that accumulates in the restaurant so your clothes will retain that smell. read more

We came to Rok for an anniversary dinner and thought the food was ok and everything was excessively salty (even though I have an extremely high salt tolerance). I don't think we'd be back because the food itself wasn't worth the price and you're just paying for the unique experience of having your food served on the hot rock. Lobster dip (3/5): it was excessively creamy and there wasn't anything to cut through the creaminess. I also couldn't taste any of the lobster unfortunately Scallop and shrimp (3/5): there wasn't anything unique about the dish and it tastes exactly how you would expect. It was overly salty and I wish I got a different entree instead. Filet mignon 6oz (4/5): the steak was pretty good and probably the best thing of the night. They didn't show how you were supposed to cook it when they dropped off the food so it was burnt on the sides and raw in the middle by the time the server came by. Dark chocolate fondue (3/5): I loved the actual dark chocolate. I feel like anything sweeter would be difficult to eat. For the amount of chocolate they give you, there's definitely not enough dipping options. We didn't like the pretzel and meringue in combination with the chocolate. I honestly would've just taken regular marshmallows. There also wasn't enough fruit. When we finished the fruit, there was still 4/5ths of the chocolate remaining. Overall, it was an ok experience but there was much left to be desired unfortunately. Also, when I received the bill, I thought it was tacky that the pre-calculated tip section was called out and circled twice. Taste was surprisingly good for a steakhouse. But, personally I would have preferred less potatoes. Wagyu New York stripe on sizzling stone - American Wagyu brought to the table on a very hot stone slab (claim to be 700 degrees, which I didn't test), with roasted vegetables and rice pilaf. Very tender steak ( not quite as good as Japanese Wagyu), and the hot stone allowed us to sizzle the steak to just the right degree of doneness. Boned in Pork Chop - pork chop served in a hot stone with sides of sweet potatoe fries and broccoli. Again, very tender and tasty. Duplication of my Google review. Looking for a place not as upscale as say, Alexanders, but pricey enough that I would feel like I was getting a decent steak. I was SORELY disappointed here. I ordered the Wagyu (think it was $45 of a 6 oz.) and a side of steamed broccoli. There was absolutely no seasoning on the steak or the broccoli and the broccoli was still raw. The steak was cooked appropriately, but I've had Wagyu and the claim that this was Wagyu seems dubious to me. It seemed like a piece of cheap steak that, if it were well-seasoned, might have hid the fact that it wasn't Wagyu. Makes sense considering the price. The Wagyu I'd had before was significantly more expensive. The Chimichurri Sauce on the side was good and made the steak edible, so I did finish the steak. I didn't touch the broccoli. My wife ordered the New York Strip. Again, no seasoning at all. She didn't care for the Chimichurri, so she didn't eat her steak at all. We wound up giving it to a homeless person outside. She got a side of shrimp with it that she said was decent, but for the price, she'd rather eat at Sizzlers. The French Fries she got on the side were actually outstanding. Perfectly cooked - crispy on the outside and soft inside. The environment consisted of seat upholstery on its last legs and paint peeling on walls. A little care into the decor might make me feel like I was a steakhouse. Finally, the servers were nice - very nice. They were pleasant to talk to. The host at the door seemed as though he did not want to be there and strained to give us a smile or even a nod. When I stepped in, I asked for a booth for two people and he stared at me for a good ten seconds before I said I was ready to be seated and he ushered me to two booths telling me to pick the one I wanted. I just left from a birthday dinner. The service was not great and the food was not that great either. Those are not the things that rubbed me the wrong way though. When it came time to pay, I was overcharged. I got the chicken breast, mushrooms and a 12 dollar drink. Including tax and tip, my food was 57 bucks. The server charged me 70 dollars. When I tried to bring up the price discrepancy he got defensive. It took a while for the situation to be rectified and in the end, they only ended up giving me 9 dollars back. Had an early dinner 5:30pm. There was plenty of seating. Started off with a mojito which was large and tasty. Was on the weaker side compared to most restaurants. I settled on the Elk burger medium with garlic fries. I asked the waiter if it was just raw garlic minced and put on top, he said no, there is some Parm cheese and chilli flakes. Guess what? Their unique feature is the meat is seared/cooked on a very hot slab of lava rock. My companion had the 6 oz. Filet Mignon with sides of cooked vegetables and mashed potato. I had the Tri-tip Sandwich that came with fries. My sandwich also had sauteed bell pepper and onion with a flavorful horse radish dressing. The beef was thinly sliced and tender, wish there was more. The fries were soggy and not very good. My friend gave me a slice of her filet and it was very tender, seasoned with just salt and pepper. The crust had an unpleasant burnt taste for me but is was a good piece of beef. The lava rock items were very pricey and so was the sandwich based on the quantity of meat. I don't know why it took so long for me to rate this place. Coming here again more recently, I can say that it was definitely more crowded in the past. They are known for their steaks cooked on a heated rock that stays hot long enough for you to finish the entree. There's a technique, and I'm sure the waiter can explain, as the optimal way to prepare your steak at the table. I do also like that they have alternatives for those trying to eat healthier and avoid too much red meat. They have a good choice of salads and pasta dishes. Days I prefer not to have steak, I'll go with either their jambalaya or walnut pesto pasta where there is an option to add the protein of your choice.
