WOW, I cannot believe it has taken me this long to try this place! I have lived literally across the street for 5 years and finally had a craving for fried fish so my husband and I decided to try Fish's Wild. We ordered Wild Fried Fish with Wild Fries, Salmon Tacos, and Mahi Wrap. For fish, the prices were reasonable. But OMG... the food was SOOOO flavorful! The fried fish was fried perfectly and stayed crispy even when we got it to go. While the outside was crispy, the fish stayed moist and was cooked so well. The sauce that came with the tacos and the fried fish was addicting! I wish we ordered more of it. Service was super friendly and the place was nice and clean. We are soooo coming back! read more

Grilled Salmon: served with choice of two side orders (Garlic Bread, French Fries, Steamed Veggies, Grilled Zucchini, Brown Rice, Steamed Rice, and Mac Salad) and choice of seasoning (Cajun, Garlic Butter, Lemon Pepper, House, No Seasoning). I went with the Butter Garlic seasoning and steamed rice and Mac salad. I thought the Salmon was pretty good and the seasoning was good. I also liked the Mac salad. The portion size was good. Note: The fountain machine was broken. But they had refrigerated beverages including beer. Service was nice and friendly. They bring your order to your table. Overall, 3.5 stars. Probably my number one katsu ever. Comparing to other Hawaiian places, the chicken was juicy but not in an oily way. It had a nice crisp to it. The Mac salad was creamy but didn't feel fatty. It had crunches from onions and carrots that tied in with the creamy texture. The best part was the sauce. The BEST katsu sauce I ever had. The sauce was tangy but wasn't overpowering with vinegar. It has sweetness to it to balance out the tang. That whole plate was about $15 too! The spam musubi had a crisp to it and it wasn't overpowered by rice like some places. Still pretty tasty. The tilapia wrap was soft and wasn't salty at all. Their overall wraps seems healthy with greens. Pairing it with the katsu sauce was top tier. The first time we came in person everything was great! However on our second visit I needed to order takeout to pickup on the way to meeting my parents. I placed an order to be ready for 6pm pick-up. However when I arrived not only was my order not started but he couldn't find it. I confirmed that I got a emailed receipt and then when he checked again he found my order...which was fine as I had arrived slightly early. However because the order was just getting started it took a long time and this is where things got frustrating because I had ordered ahead specifically so my order would be ready and I wouldn't be late but ended up almost 40 mins late. As for the food my steamed vegetables were cooked differently this time and were extremely bitter and sour. It was almost like it was steamed with lime/lemon, however oddly enough my mahi mahi didn't come with a lemon wedge this time. I'm not sure what happened here but the veggies were basically inedible. Also the mac salad that came with my dad's dish was really watery and very sweet...not good and very unappetizing. The grilled zucchini, mahi mahi, barrumundi, and spicy chicken we got were all excellent though just as last time. Was in the area and decided to try this hole-in-the-wall restaurant and was probably the best decision I made that day. The food could be ordered through the kiosk or the waiter. The first thing we got was the spam musubi. The spam had a nice sear to it with it being a bit crispy. They didn't overload it with rice which was great. For the entree, I got the Tilapia wrap. It had a good ratio of rice, vegatables, and fish in the wrap. It was double wrapped with tortilla, which I didn't expect. I had to trim some off. I put sauce on the side and it was creamy and nice. Other food I tried was the mac salad. It was not too heavy and had a pepper/salty taste which didn't leave me feeling sluggish or sick of the food. The last thing was the katsu. It was very crispy and had good amount of meat in the middle of the breading. The sauce was GAS. I never eat katsu sauce because a lot of places use a premade one. I've been going here a lot of for lunch, and my go to is always the loco moco with an over easy egg. the ordering process is easy with the self serve kiosk, however, the wait times are very long. I got the bbq chicken and katsu plate with brown rice and veggies. It was pretty well portioned and didn't taste too oily which I appreciate!!! I don't like eating super oily fried food. A good spot for good fish quality and a local and close location in North San Jose. It is a bit pricey but the food quality is worth it. I never get food poisoning from their dishes. In $18, i got: - grilled tilapia fish 2 pcs 5/5 cajunstyle - side of steamed veggies - brocolli, carrot, zucchini, cabbage/ bokchoy - fries - 4/5 decent masala cajun fries with not crazy spicy but good medium spicy :) made fresh and packed separately. So smart! This little venue reminds me of a mix of Hawaiian BBQ and Thai food. The place was clean and they had a self-ordering station as well as a live person who could take your order. I had the chicken katsu with macaroni salad rice...the macaroni was a bit salty, the katsu thin, and the rice wasn't the traditional white rice. After scouring Yelp we decided to try Fish's Wild (something new from our go-to spots like freshly baked, com tam Thanh, thien long, Jake's, etc.). So happy as everything was delicious. I'm super picky when it comes to Mac salad and their's was perfect. Not too much Mayo, al dente elbow noodles and perfectly seasoned. My bbq chicken was succulent and super flavorful (deliciously savory and mildly sweet) and veggies perfectly cooked (added points for adding butter for the perfect touch). I think the mango salsa was quite lackluster and I didn't like the large mango chunks. The portions of fish was quite generous, but they weren't very flavorful. Tacos Combo || ~$13 Comes with two tacos, fries, and a drink. Would be nice if the combo came with three tacos instead. You are able to choose two different fish options in case you'd like to mix and match. I opted for salmon and mahi. The tacos came covered in a mango salsa and mayo sauce. I was surprised that they were spicy - since I'm sensitive to spicy foods, they really tingled and continued growing in spice as I tried to finish. My son was getting frustrated with his spam musubi cuz it was falling apart lol. I think the seaweed paper was too big for the musubi so it didn't hold up too good. I absolutely loved Fish's Wild the first time I tried it at West Gate Mall. So you can imagine how stoked I was when they opened up a franchise on Brokaw years ago. The menu was definitely interesting... while I expected most of the seafood offerings, there was a Thai curry thing on the menu too? Thought that was a bit odd.. And then if you're expecting traditional fish and chips, then this isn't the place either. Granted, yes.. I wanted that... but I didn't know where I could go nearby for it.. and wanted to settle on what they had. I've had breaded fish before and even my mom makes it at home on occasion.. Eh, let's just try it out. So yea.. panko fried fish. Crispy as expected.. fish was juicy and cooked well. Flaky and fell apart as it should. The included tartar sauce was good too.
