I come down from Ventura to see "Shady", and his name couldn't be more ironic, because there's nothing shady about him or his work. He's been maintaining my 2005 Lexus SC430 and has saved me a boatload of money on repairs and maintenance over the years. He's respectful, friendly, and clearly takes pride in getting things right. My most recent service made the car run like it did when it was new. The engine is humming smoothly again, something I've honestly NEVER experienced after a repair or routine maintenance anywhere else and I've owned this car since 2007. And while the name S & M Automotive might make some people do a double take (hahaha), the only thing painful here is realizing how unnecessary other repair bills can be once you find a mechanic this good and dependable. Extremely fair pricing & ready when he stated it would be. 2013 Ford Edge with only 120K miles. My husband works from home, only drives from Oak Park to Fat Stogies in Encino once a week. He loves his Edge, he even named him, "Eddie the Edge". He knows this car, the technology he is familiar with. It has leather seats, Satellite radio, he knows what all the buttons do, is comfortable & easy for him to get in out of. This car was bought brand new from Vista Ford back in 2013. Has always had regular service. In September 2025 there was water on the floor of our garage. Water pump is bad & had to be replaced. The way this model was built, to replace the water pump, you have to take the engine apart to get to it. It is suggested you replace the timing chain at the same time, even sell kits for this purpose. The labor alone at other mechanics for 18-24 hours $$$$$$. I got a recommendation from The Tire Man of Agoura for Danny's. All the guys behind the counter there said that's where they would go. I called Danny in Sept of 25 for an estimate, he asked for the VIN number to be able to give me an accurate quote. For everything just under $3,900.00. We were on a really tight budget, had to save up. Even though we came in January 2026, he kept to the original quote. Another mechanic said we needed engine mounts. While Danny had the engine apart he looked at them, he said the are fine. If they did need replacing, he would have charged just for the parts since the engine was already taken apart. Such honestly & integrity. We also had a transmission flush, brake flush, air conditioner service (blowing hot air on passenger side, cold on driver's side when set at the same temperature), radiator flush. All liquids topped off & he did an overall check of all belts, hoses & other systems. $4,300.00 out the door. We didn't want to get into car payments. For us this is the best solution. Danny & Bryan, Eddie the Edge, Richard & I thank you so much. You will see us soon for the next oil change.
