Idk it must be all the canyon driving we have to get new tires so often they are usually able to order any tire overnight and find they finish around 2 hours after opening. They are so fast and really help me out every time. They offer after hours drops and pickups which is also critical lol. On my way home driving down Malibu Canyon after a busy day of vet housecalls, my right rear tire suddenly went flat. Being close to 5 pm on a Friday without any tire shop nearby, and from past experience having poor luck with getting AAA to come out to Malibu on an evening, I was worried what might happen if I couldn't get the tire changed before it suffered further damage. I am ever so grateful to Matt, a kind and competent mechanic at Malibu Chevron Auto Care, for not only changing out my damaged tire for the spare I had, but pointing out the damage the tire sustained which could have resulted in a potentially disastrous blowout had it been driven on much longer. He also pointed out that the damage had been caused by a blade which pierced through the tire which will necessitate having the tire replaced, but at least the spare with get me to a tire repair shop when one is open. Matt was a true blessing on this Friday evening, and didn't even charge for his time or expertise. Much gratitude for your help! read more

These guys are great!!! I called and ordered a tire last night. They told me it would be in at around 10/10:30. I stopped in at 11 and the tire was there, they put it on immediately, no waiting and I was on my way. Not only quick, but very pleasant, friendly and professional. I had several boxes of books in the trunk and they didn't complain once, I was standing near by and there was no grumble or gripe that you may hear from other, just made it happen. The best mechanic by far I've ever been too. I was referred here by a coworker. I needed spark plugs as my Dodge Ram hit 100,000 miles. The price was better than another mechanic quoted. The vehicle was done exactly when he said it was going to be done. I was so impressed by Hans, I brought my aunt's car the following week for tires. Again, it was finished exactly when he said and it was exactly the price we were quoted. I can't recommend this place enough and I will never go anywhere else. As a woman, it's nice to find a trustworthy mechanic who isn't trying to sell me unnecessary repairs or "suggested" repairs like the dealer always does. read more

I recently needed to get two parts fixed on my exhaust, an EGR Vacuum Switch and Vapor Canister. They quoted me for $490 in parts and $490 on labor to replace them. I found both of the parts online on Amazon for $32 and $236 respectively. I had a friend who builds cars for a living check out the parts and install them for me, and it took him about 30 minutes of labor, 15 of which was managing to find the actual valve switch in my engine. I recently got my car checked out in another shop and I asked the (trustworthy) mechanic if $980 (plus tax) is a reasonable number and he told me that in his system, it costs $160 in labor to replace EVERY part in the exhaust system. The team here seems takes advantage of their Malibu location and complete lack of mechanic shops in the city. Unless you do not care about price or ethical mechanics, I highly recommend you do not trust this place for a secure feeling or performance in car repairs. The only reason I gave it two stars is because it's the only shop within 35 minutes of my house, so that has to count for something. read more

We live in Texas and our daughter lives in Hollywood. She was driving to Malibu yesterday in our 2000 Honda with 200,000 miles on it and the radiator blew up on PCH. I used Yelp to find this mechanic 6 miles away and he told us how to get to him without destroying the engine. He gave me an estimate to replace the radiator, thermostat and hoses and it was ready the next day around lunch for under $600. Had my car towed here to have a radiator hose replaced. I had it towed because even though it was drivable, I didn't want it overheating and causing even more damage. Luckily for me, at some point when they were putting the receipt in my visor or test driving it, they slammed the door so hard that the entire interior separated from the exterior. Then they told me to go eat dirt :) I was able to shut the door but it's about three closes away from falling off the freaking car. I watched the tow truck guy load it so I know it wasn't him. They also charged me 400 dollars to replace two hoses, charged me 23 bucks for a dliter of 8 dollar coolant, and took close to three hours to do said job. It's worth it to drive a little further to somewhere better! read more

Knows cars from classic trucks and mustangs to New range rovers and BMWs I used to go to another place in Malibu before who I won't mention but there is about 2 in the area so you can figure it out and let's just say I am lucky to live close to this place because they are so great. My car broke down in the parking lot, the fuel pump went out and I rushed right to the back to see if they could help me. They told me that it sounded like the fuel pump but they couldn't be sure. They said they would check it out and let me know. This was at about 3PM - they had my cars fuel pump changed and my car was ready by 6!! Just to be on the safe side I called other shops around the Santa Monica area (that is where I live) and the cost was always about the same - + or - $20 or so. read more
