    Crystal Shrimp Dumplings (4)
    Chinmay S.

Very surprised by the low Yelp ratings on this one! We tried this small dumpling and noodles place inside the Metreon Center in SOMA and were pleasantly impressed. We like to mix and match food from different counters because it's set up like a food court. We had the Crystal Shrimp dumplings and the Bbq Pork Buns. Honestly they were better than most places we've tried in the Bay area. The buns in particular were soft, hot, and flavorful - went really well with some spicy chili oil! The service was quick. I'll be back to try more next time we are in the area.

Reasonably good as a quick ad hoc lunch. I took some chicken curry and a few dumplings and it was quickly ready and quickly gone.

I ate here for the very first time yesterday after my dentist appointment. I really liked the Beef Brisket Noodles Soup that I ordered. The brisket was very tender and the noodles were prepared just right. The counter person was very friendly and helpful. I plan to come back here if ever I am in the mood for more Beef Brisket Noodles Soup again while shopping at the nearby Target or visiting the nearby AMC Movie Theater.

The wontons were fine. Better than usual food court fare but it came at a staggering cost. With a 10% tip, this was a $25 meal that you could get for half the price with better ambiance on Clement, Balboa, or in Daly City. Unfortunately the minimum wage increase which restaurant workers *absolutely deserve* has food court establishments gouging customers.

I just had lunch here at the Rolling Dumpling in the Metreon Mall and had the wanton soup and it was so good. I unfortunately couldn't eat all of the soup because I was full half way through. I encourage everyone to eat lunch at this place. I give this place 5 stars

Tried out this Thai place inside the metreon, I got the pineapple chicken fried rice. It was ok but was expecting more. The food took a while to come out after ordering, and was in a takeout box which is fine but felt small. It would not be enough to split between 2 people without additional foods imo. Most dishes will go for $15-20 range.

Rolling Thai is not only a great spot for Thai food but it's also the home of Kazka, a drink company specializing in fruit seltzers and coconut slushies. They have an assortment of flavors to choose from at $7 a can. I first tried them last year at Foodieland but when I found out they were based close by at Metreon, I had to get more! I definitely had to get a bunch of drinks to take home and the flavors I got were: - Grape Lychee - Salty Plum - Pineapple Yakult - Guavaberries - Peachy Dragonfruit - Mango Coco - Coconut Bae - Pineapple Coco I really love how refreshing all the drinks are. The seltzers were really light and airy and the fruit flavors were really fresh. I especially like, however, the slushies! My favorite is the mango coco and the pineapple coco which I find to be perfectly balanced between the mango/pineapple sweetness and the more subtle notes of the coconut

Unremarkable. The two soups were the same other than 6 wontons and $6 price difference. Over-priced comfort food - hit spot, but was disappointing based on price and presentation (not matching photo on menu). Added star for great service, though.

The girl at the counter was nice. I liked how they had the ordering kiosk. Super easy to use. She was there to answer questions. I selected the pad Thai with chicken! It was really good and the tables in the area were clean and the vibe was chill. Great place to eat during a day at Yerba Buena Park or if you're catching a movie. Would go back and try something else.

I was in the area to pick up my Kazka drinks, the seasonal Kazka cake in a can and decided to also order food. The last time I was here they had mini hot pots and learned they no longer offered this menu item and I was a little saddened. I opted to try their other Thai food menu items. I ordered the pineapple fried rice, pad thai and the green curry with rice to bring home. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was really surprised at how tasty everything was. The green curry was amazing--the perfect amount of heat (I asked for medium), it was so flavorful and nice portions of chicken in the curry--I needed more rice to get every bit of the curry. Both the tofu pad thai and pineapple fried rice was also very good. I liked the type of rice that was used...shorter grain and seemed stickier texture. I would definitely return and try their other menu items.

    Basil Veggie Fried Rice
    Tanusree M.

Ordered from here on DoorDash because we were craving some Tom kha! We ordered the following: 1. Tom kha meat lover 2. Veggie basil fried rice The Tom kha (1) was very tasty! I just wish it came with more broth. I feel as though there wasn't enough broth to toppings ratio. If there was a bit more, it would be perfect. The basil fried rice (2) was so-so, kind of flavorless and oily. And a very small portion. I would order the Tom kha again tho! Maybe if I ate it in-store, it would be better.

The latest resident of a spot in the Metreon food court that seems to always host a Thai food occupant. The Tom Kha is awesome, like some of the best food court Thai food I've ever had. The other items seem hit-or-miss, so whatever you do, make sure you get the Tom Kha in your order. Tom Kha Meat Lover w/ Potato Noodles: Wow, this was really amazing for a meal from a food court. Even at proper table service Thai restaurants, the food isn't always as good. It was a broth with a strong coconut and lemongrass aroma having TONS of meat: thinly sliced beef (like gyudon) and chewy meatballs (like what you get in pho). Also, some tofu skin too which absorbed a lot of the delicious broth. Nice slippery potato noodles. Some veggies, but not overwhelming, since the focus should be the meat. I chose the Classic Thai Seafood Hot Sauce as my option and it worked excellently as a dipping sauce to the meat with a really strong tang. All the cabbage in the soup was actually a good palate cleaner. A really big portion, so had to eat this in two sittings. Yellow Curry Chicken Rice: This was a bit more mediocre, like what I'd expect from a food court. The potato chunks weren't that soft. Not raw exactly, but tough and had a weird crunch. The chicken was all soft dark meat chunks, that also could have used some more cooking time for a better texture. The veggies were kinda boring, with lots of bell pepper slices. Quite a letdown compared to the awesome Tom Kha. Guavaberries Kazka: Fun that a fresh drink to order is bottled in a can. Much better for walking the takeout home. Definitely a lot of strawberry pieces. The guava wasn't too strong though. Also, was hoping for a stronger Yakult taste, but felt a bit watered down, maybe too much seltzer?

Well if I saw the reviews before I probably would have passed. But I'm here in the area and don't feel like walking far for lunch, so here I am. For my Thai food lovers, if you're looking for some good Thai food, keep rolling by To me it's below average in taste. I was hungry and it hit the spot for the moment. Ice coffee slightly bitter and not sweet enough. Asked for some sugar, they didn't have any. Repeat, sorry I wouldn't.

The staff were friendly and super prompt about clearing empty plates and refilling our tea whenever we signaled it was done, which is always great as the dishes just get on coming! We ordered a bunch of dishes to share, and several really stood out. The spicy tendon was fantastic, shredded paper thin and swimming in a classic spicy sauce. The spicy lamb dumplings were another highlight, with an incredibly thin wrapper and a super flavorful and not gamey at all lamb filling. I also loved the stir fried rice cakes, which were sliced thin enough to avoid that overly chewy texture, and the stir fried noodles Shanghai style were classic and simple in the best way, with big chunks of cabbage and meat and just executed really (the chefs clearly have some serious wok skills!). Not everything we ordered was an absolute knockout as the vegetable dishes could use a bit more flavor and seasoning, but everything overall was good, and the portions across the board were very generous. The desserts were a last-minute decision and I am so glad we went for them. The lava custard buns were fluffy and amazing, with a molten salted egg custard inside, and the sesame balls had a satisfyingly crispy exterior that gave way to a perfectly chewy interior and sweet red bean filling. The value here is also excellent. We left absolutely stuffed and spent around $30 per person, which felt like a great deal for how much food we got and how much we enjoyed it. Highly recommend!

Stopped by Palette Tea House with The Kid after FoodieLand thinking we were just coming for tea... and ended up having a full experience. We sat at the communal high-top table in the center of the restaurant, which has a small pond built into it with little goldfish and even a tiny rubber duck sitting on the rock formation -- such a cute detail and definitely adds to the ambiance. Our server Ken was fantastic and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. He recommended the Iron Goddess tea, which ended up being excellent. The Kid ordered the Milk Aroma Oolong, which surprisingly tasted almost like milk tea even though it's just brewed tea. Each tea comes with its own kettle, and Ken even came back to refill the hot water for us. For food, we ordered the Wagyu Beef Fried Rice, which was a huge portion and easily shareable. Very flavorful and well prepared. We also tried the Sichuan Seafood Dumplings and the Iberico Pork Dumplings, both of which were delicious. One order is definitely enough to share. The dumplings come with several dipping sauces including soy sauce, vinegar, chili oil, hot mustard, and a cilantro-based sauce that had a slightly sweet, horseradish-like flavor that really stood out. Service throughout the meal was amazing. Even without a reservation, we were seated immediately. Bao is warm and woody and serene on the inside, a great counterpoint to the bustle of Valencia at every hour. Tonight a couple of wizards were in the process of making chicken potstickers. Even being vegetarian, just seeing how the dumplings and other items are made is like seeing secrets being shared. I love it and it sets the vibe for the restaurant. My order consisted of the steamed vegetarian buns and sautéed string beans. The crispness of the sautee makes the string beans a lovely pairing with the soft yummy of the steamed buns. Last came the sesame balls as a sweet meal ending. And it's a small space, with maybe 2 tables. So this place is probably best for to-go orders. Their 2g2g bags have more variety than their Chinatown location. Not sure how many dim sum options there are in the Mission, but I would go here if I was in the area and craving a shrimp and chive dumpling.
