Yuet Lee has been around Chinatown for a long time, sitting right on the corner of Stockton and Broadway. This was actually my first time eating here. Good place for a no-frills lunch. Big menu, big portions, very casual atmosphere, and the prices are pretty affordable. I ordered the Sum See over rice, which comes with bean sprouts, carrots and various meats over rice. Nothing fancy, but it was simple, filling and hit the spot. Also tried the sweet and sour pork with plum sauce. It was good, although a little too sweet for my taste. The plum sauce definitely brings the sweetness up a notch. Overall, this is cheap, casual Chinatown food without any pretension. You're not coming here for fancy presentation or a polished dining experience. But taking the price and generous portions into consideration, it's good enough for an easy, inexpensive lunch. read more

Came here with a large group and we feasted - I really liked the prawns, the sweet and sour chicken was a bit too sweet for me like a dessert. Large won ton soup was great to share between 6 people and they brought small bowls for us. The duck was delicious but fatty and a whole duck was too much for our table of 6 given all the other food we ordered and was a bit greasy. The fried rice was plain but good to add to other dishes, and the side of vegetables were underseasoned compared to the other food. Overall my favorite was the soup and the shrimp/prawns. The restaurant is no frills but has large tables for seating. The server was pleasant and answered all of our questions. Overall, would go back. It was about $45 a person, so I would definitely order family style because the individual dishes are too big to not share. read more

The people are definitely attentive here you just look over them and they know you have a need and they automatically come. They need a little modernization in their restaurant. Came here with my brothers for dinner and this spot did not disappoint! The menu is packed with the usual Cantonese classics you would expect to find in Chinatown. The prices for dine-in were quite reasonable and there were plenty of seating inside. Place seems to have a lot of history in the city with all the famous celebrities that ventured into this humble spot like Jackie Chan and Jacques Pepin! We ordered a lot of their comfort food options, and everything we had hit the mark! A few of the dishes that we loved were the prawns with scrambled eggs, minced pork steamed with salted egg, and fish fillet with asparagus in black bean sauce. Everything was cooked properly, seasoned well, and the portion sizes were great for what you pay. The service was quick and efficient. We were able to pick our own table, and the place had that family run vibe I love. The staff were very friendly and welcoming to me and my brothers. Came here with the family for dinner. This spot is somewhat of a hole-in-the-wall local shop. No frill Chinese spot beloved by locals. It has tables that accommodate anywhere from 4-8 people. We ordered dishes to share family style. My favorite was the salt and pepper pork chop as it wasn't too fatty but had the salty kick snd crispy texture. Best eaten with white rice. The Mongolian beef was decent but more on the spicier and saucier side. My least favorite was the noodles it was very bland and without much curry flavor as it's supposed to. The floor and doors and tables are sticky. Bathroom is full of urine on the floor. They wipe tables with dirty rags. The shrimp tasted like rusty water and had msg in it. Fried oysters were awful. Took 40 minutes to get our food and an additional 20 minutes to chase down the check, as the workers favored their regulars. My mother and I wanted some food and she mentioned asian so I had been wanting to return to Yuet Lee after not dining there for many years. Also because I found parking right down the street. Now I should have just ordered my food to go but I wanted to sit with mom and have a meal. First sign was when she came to the table to drop menus she was not nice just kinda looked at us and dropped them on the table. After SEVERAL minutes she comes back to the table to ask what we wanted for drinks. I say hot tea and water for both of us. The tea came pretty quickly...that was the last thing to arrive as such. After SEVERAL more minutes she comes back to take our order. I ask her a question I am not sure she really answered...? Anyway she seemed to get the 4 items I wanted. When we were seated, there were maybe 3 to 5 active tables some were about to finish so when we placed our order there were maybe 3 tables ahead of us. So then a table across from us us seated with 3 people. One of the 4 items I ordered was a soup. Anyway, I am talking to mom and watching what was going on around us and how the food was coming out. I will also say the kitchen was also doing take out orders and it looked like there was only one cook. So food starts coming out...and we are waiting. First to come out was shrimp fried rice...easy and quick...then others who I know ordered after us started getting their food but yet we are still waiting for the other 3 items. Okay after SEVERAL MORE minutes the dumplings arrive, item number 2. another SEVERAL minutes item number 3 arrives, shrimp and greens with a sauce and oysters. Soon after that the table across got a bowl of soup plus all the rest of their food it seemed...I was like hold on..."I know I ordered my soup before table across even ordered!" I just waited...other people are getting their food but my soup has not shown up. Another SEVERAL minutes go by, still no soup so I ask for a coke. She managed not to take too long but it was longer than it should have been. No at this time all but 2 or 3 tables were taken...still the take out orders are flowing out and others are getting food but my soup still has not materialized. There was another man sort of helping unsure of his role but without asking managed to refill the hot tea...and by the way she never did bring water. I finally got tired of waiting and asked the gentleman for Togo boxes for our leftovers and he said soup was coming I replied just make it togo please (I really wanted this soup!!) So i had to ask her for the check and surprise, it took ANOTHER SEVERAL minutes for her to bring it! Got the check and paid it and left her a tip as they do in Europe...IYKYK. Loved this hidden gem of very authentic Chinese food. Stumbled across this place with a friend on Saturday evening. It's definitely has a hole in the wall interior, but like most Chinese spots, this added to its authenticity. The food was delicious, and the roast duck was especially solid. Recently took a trip to San Francisco and had dinner at this restaurant in China Town. Someone I know recommended this place & I'm so glad I tried it. This place is a very humble restaurant, so if you're looking for something fancy this would not be the place for you. However, if you're looking for authentic tasting Chinese cuisine, this place is definitely for you. We ordered a few items and shared plates. Everything we ordered was delicious! The owners are not the friendliest people and communication was a tad bit challenging but overall we got everything we ordered in a timely fashion & I definitely would go back next time I visit the area. I stumbled onto this gem completely by accident. My family and I were walking around Chinatown when we needed to use the restroom. We walked into this restaurant and asked if they had available restrooms. The owner said they do, but it's for customers only, (which I had expected). Some places in Chinatown would not even allow you to use their restrooms regardless if you're a customer or not. After seeing all the pictures of the celebrities on the wall that had eaten here, and they fact they had available restrooms for customers, we decided to give this place a try. It surely did not disappoint. The waitress we had was super friendly, and she recommended their most popular dishes. We ordered Yung Chow Fried Rice, Sweet and Sour Pork, Pan Fried Noodles and Garlic Fried Shrimp. Each dish was so flavorful and delicious. The only disappointment was when I asked them if they had a location in LA, sadly, they said no. SF's Chinatown was their only location :( Oh well, that just means I will definitely be coming back to visit. read more
