Wholesale bakery with a small retail offering upfront next to their office desks. I carriers shortly before closing and there were plenty of breads and pastries available. I opted for a danish. I believe it was raspberry or maybe a mixed berry filling. Pastries seemed like they would have a good shelf life. Staff was fast and friendly. This is the kind of place I have been looking for since moving to valley stream. This bakery is nothing more than a door on the side of a brick building. Once you open it, the scent of fresh baked bread invades your senses. It's literally an office space where the bread is kept in a case and the rest of the bakery is closed off. It's not pretty but it doesn't need to be. The pretzel rolls are worth the trip alone. Bagels, loafs, pastries they carry lots and if it's not in they will be baking for later. They aren't open 24 hours any longer usually 7-7 or 6-7 some days. Take the trip, there is no private parking only 15 min street parking in front but it's usually full as it's a busy little street. Great old school Italian and French bread hot out of the oven. Unfortunately, I had to knock a couple of stars off due to the new ownership. They now have "Janet," who is rude, arrogant, and racist and is singlehandedly ruined what once was a pleasant experience. If she hates dealing with customers,just hire a teenager to work 4-7 .Apparently, Janet doesn't like to play on her phone/ computer and take care of paying customers ,so guess which one lost out? Several of my friends and neighbors have stopped going because of the hassle,and probably her idea to now limit the hours so she doesn't have to deal with customers. No longer 24-7 but closing at 5pm! No more stopping in after work to grab a fresh hot loaf to have with dinner! What a shame. The rest of the staff is actually very accommodating. read more

Would never expect this bread bakery to be so good. The location is not ideal its very industrial and sketchy (in my opinion) if it's wasn't for Yelp I would of had no idea it existed especially since I don't live in town. But I am so glad I did find it bc the bread is delicious, I got a pretzel bun and a loaf of Italian bread to bring to a friends house for dinner! Can't wait to come back read more

Oh sweet, sweet bread! I was first introduced to Roma & Ray's Italian Bakery ("Roma Ray's") when I met my wife. She grew up down the block from this bakery in Lynbrook, and her family frequently stopped here for some fresh bread, especially on holidays and other special occasions. The tradition continued while we were dating and now through our marriage. Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter always include a stop at Roma Ray's, bringing fresh baked bread straight from the factory to our home. One of the amazing things about Roma Ray's is that this place is open virtually 24/7. As long as they have bread in stock (even at odd hours), you can stop by to pick up a loaf, a roll, a baguette, or several. Holidays can be an especially difficult time of year to get bread (you have to make sure to arrive early or else they'll sell quicker than they can bake). Nevertheless, the quality and freshness is worth the possible inventory depletion. It's the closest you can possibly get to an old-world village bakery. I haven't mentioned the quality of the bread yet, but I can guarantee you that it is on point! Whether you order a plain roll, Italian bread, sesame, rye, or any other kind of bread, you'll find it to be truly delicious (and incredibly fresh). Even better, the prices can't be beat! Cutting out the middleman allows this place to keep prices low, so you can walk out with a huge baguette for just a couple bucks. Not bad at all! To have a great business, you don't necessarily need to have a fancy store front. This place proves that. Known to my family as just "Ray's," this place has the freshest bread around. It is located off Merrick Road and can be hard to find because of its factory-like setting (if your not from the area.) The place alone is nothing to rave about. When you walk in, there are two desks where I guess the receptionist/bookkeeper sits. She also takes the money from customers. There is a pretty large bread "closet" to the left of the door. Each shelf is stocked with brand-spanken new loaves of Italian bread (with or without seeds), assorted rolls, and the newest addition, whole wheat Italian bread. I am sure they have more, but I just stick with the Italian bread. The coolest part is you pick your own. They provide the gloves and wax paper. Writing this review, I can almost taste the hot, flaky bread I have grown to know and love. I always get two loaves because I devour at least half of a loaf just driving home! You can't beat the price (two loaves are less than $5.) I never let a good sandwich go without Ray's Bakery bread! read more

You may not of known where this place is but I can almost guarantee you have had their bread. Many local spots serve sandwiches on their bread and I have even seen the bread boxes in Manhattan. The BEST. They make specialty bread on the weekend such as sausage bread and cheddar broccoli bread. read more

This place is a hidden gem. You would never notice it from the outside, but they have some of the best bread around - 24/7. I typically get loaves of their French bread (could go through multiple of them quickly if somebody didn't stop me). They used to have a sausage loaf that I loved, but they no longer make it. :( read more

This place is a commercial bakery, so its front has no luxurious decor. However, its rolls are some of the best on Long Island and the prices cannot be beat! 50 cents for a Kaiser Roll and Club/Hero Rolls. Always good place to visit! read more
