I love this little family run Italian market with a small deli in it that provides the best in cold cuts, antipasto, and cheese. The gentleman who owns and is there everyday is very friendly. A great wine selection as well of all types of wines and beers too! The best treat is there daily cold cuts sandwiches on regular Italian bread or focaccia that has olive oil on it wrapped up neatly in pink butcher paper. It's my go to stop for a sandwich spot. I'm not sure why people like this place so much. The sandwich was very plain and average. Perhaps I didn't have the koolaid with it? The bread was average. People in line with me were saying it was the most amazing bread "creamy on the inside and crunch in the outside." It was just a chewy roll as far as I could tell. The meats were cold cuts you get when you're broke. They were very average. And that leaves the cheese. Average. I felt that it was a fair deal at $6. But nothing to tell about. Not sure what the other clients were judging this thing by. Maybe they're raised in Pasadena unified school district school lunches? Maybe they haven't eaten artisan breads. Whatever it is I do not share the glowing opinion of this place. Oddly I grew up a few blocks away up Lake Ave. I used buy Lettuce at Roma since they had the best price in town. Had to venture to Roma Market to try "the sandwich". I'm talking, of course, about the Italian sandwich. Wrapped in pink butcher paper and sitting inconspicuously on the cashier counter, it's a must get! Everyone was grabbing two or three on their way in - the sandwich was simple, but delicious, and the bread was excellent. I have been coming here with my grandparents since I was a small child, my father came here when he was a child as well. It's amazing what this small market contains, more than just delicious imported goods but a history of good memories for many. That being said, they are located on the corner of Mountain and Lake. The location shares a small parking lot that has some deviated spaces for the market. It can get crowded on weekends but there is plenty of residential parking a couple blocks away if you don't mind a short walk. Pricing is $$ and quality of products is amazing. I most frequently would come here for deli meats, cheeses, Italian soda, and other goodies. My grandmother loves the produce here. Most recently, I have brought my son here to pick up the "famous sandwich," and oh is it delicious. I can't believe I hadn't tried it sooner! I have been back for sandwiches since that one time about 5 more total. My son loves them, and they are so simple and delicious. Customer service is always amazing, and the owner is so sweet. He often will make recommendations and can be seen putting items out on the floor. Even during this pandemic he is working. Finally stopped by here because I wanted to get a fancy pannetone for the husband. Although the holidays are over, they sure had a good selection! Of course, I walked out with more than what I came for -- salami, cheese, pasta, a large pack of cannoli, and the famous "sandwich." The sandwich tasted fresh (although it had been pretty-wrapped and sitting in a basket when I bought it), and the meats inside didn't have the weird aftertaste that deli meats sometimes have. This place is a little gem. It's a very small but truly authentic Italian market with meats, cheeses, candies and other imported goodies. Of course, everyone comes here for The Sandwich (its actual name) which is a terrific Italian sandwich made with fresh bread, at least three different meats, and cheese. It's not a complicated sandwich but it's very reasonably priced ($5.50) and delicious. Don't worry--it's not hard to find. It's wrapped in pink paper and they're all stacked up by the meat/cheese counter. They will also slice fresh meat or cheese for you and, by all means, you should try a bunch of their offerings. I always drive by this place on my way home and I was so excited to find out it's an authentic little Italian market that sells an assortment of wine, pasta, sauces, snacks, and the famous olive oil deli sandwich. It was invented by the owner himself, who you'll find sitting on a chair towards the back of the market. They make hundreds of those sandwiches a day and you can find them at the register in pink wrapping. Bread, olive oil, various meats, and provolone cheese. That's it! And it's the best sandwich I've had in a long time. So simple yet so gratifying. On Saturdays they sell CANNOLIS! Swipe them up in the morning before they're gone. Been enjoying this little gem of a market since the late 70s. Russ, the owner still greets his customers daily. Of course it's "THE SANDWICH" that many customers go there for. He still makes them the exact same way as he had made them through the decades. And the price makes it even a greater treat. When I do drive over I always pick up a few for friends to savor. Folks eating it for the first time always have that "OMG" reaction. Parking can be a challenge at times so I get there early. I would give this review 10 stars if I could. This is a fairly small market that caters to Italian imports, deli meats, olive oil , desserts etc. they also sell this really amazing sandwich. But once it sells out, it's done. They don't make any more for the day. I recommend coming in if you're looking for things from the motherland of Italy, or just come in to browse and see if something catches your eye. Serving the Pasadena area for a long, long time, Roma Market has established themselves pretty well in the community. The market is packed full of items I've never seen before, however the staff is polite enough to take the time to explain things and how to prepare them. Most notably is their Italian sandwich, which is sitting abundantly in a box by the cashier. People were lined up to purchase these sandwiches, while other staff members were making more. The market has a very comfortable and welcoming environment. There's also a deli counter where you can ask the service manager for deli meats and salads sold by weight. I've been going here back in the day when he used to make each sandwich from scratch. Now it's all pre-made but it doesn't take away from a flawless sandwich. It's also a market (obviously) so you can stop by for all your Italian goods such as wines, imported meats, pastas, etc. Across the street from the CVS Pharmacy. The best little Italian market is without a doubt the best italian deli in Pasadena. Buy some copa, capocollo, mortadella, head cheese, and provoletta. If you end up here, you HAVE to eat "The Sandwich" it is the best Italian sandwich you will ever eat. I end up buying a few for lunch at work. Ask "Ros" the owner for his recommendations for cheese or cold cut and he will cut free samples you will not be able to resist buying. He only orders the best from Italy. The containers of Gioia burrata did not have expiration/best by dates. Since they're so local, if you go and buy directly from them, made the same day, maybe they don't have dates? I couldn't remember. They did have about 3 or 4 different brands of burrata, which is nice. I found a large jar of pretty good giardiniera at a good price. The cannoli looked so-so, they're huge, and they're packaged several in a box, which was more than what I wanted. But maybe next time. I hadn't been here in such a long time, but they do have a large variety of products, the prices for what I looked at are good, so I'll be stopping by more often.
