Looking to get a vintage watch chain lengthened, I went into Roman Jewelers. Mike took a look at my piece and immediately suggested a quick fix alternative to purchasing and trying to match additional chain or using an unsightly lengthening attachment. Using a small decorative piece of the chain, Mike was able to lengthen the chain seamlessly. It came out beautifully and you can't tell at all where the "surgery" is located. Mike was lovely to my wife and me (being a gay couple, this is not always the case), and refused to take any payment for the repair. I read the other reviews here and can't for the life of me figure out why someone would perceive the nice man I met as being snotty or pretentious. Maybe these folks need a lesson in snottiness. Everyone tells me I should always go through a jeweler -- as they value items for their worth and will be honest with you with prices. My 18K vintage white gold watch was valued at $50. I had brought in quite a bit of gold filled and gold plated items and had decided not to have them scrap my sterling and gold as I found the local pawn shop I use to offer up much better prices. Seeing as I refused to scrap the 18K gold watch, he became upset, "Bring it wherever you want, but they always come back here", was the attitude I was given. And, "You may as well take all of it there." Needless to say, I allowed him to keep the remaining items as I obviously couldn't bring gold plated and gold filled to a pawn shop - including a Christian Dior watch, a 10K gold watch and a 14K gold watch all for $105. I went to FastCash in Pawtucket and they gave me $110 for the 18K watch. Don't do business here. It's not worth it and they don't value your items nor your business. 2 stars as the guy I dealt with provided good customer service for the first 10min. read more

We kept hearing about this place on WPRO radio, how professional and helpful the owner is even if your bringing in plated silver for cash, as soon as the owner looked at the serving trays, tea set and flatware, he gave us a disgusting look, as to say you're bothering me, felt like we were treated as second class citizens, offered pennies and said, he's only doing this as a favor, needless to say, we we're going to bring in unwanted gold pcs, but after this, I wouldn't give him the time day! Despicable and Deplorable Customer Service Very insulting and insensitive remarks about my engagement ring my husband helped design 30 years ago. Insulting and degrading remarks about the jewelry I came in to sell as well. The most arrogant and condescending customer service I have EVER experienced. From other reviews I've read, I may have even been ripped off as well. I wanted to take a shower after I left. The show room was empty both times I had the misfortune to visit. Very disappointed with this place. I had fine vintage jewelry (gold and diamonds) given to me by my grandmother that I was looking for the cash value to put towards my future fiancé ring. Multiple 14k necklaces, diamond tennis bracelet (6 carats worth of Diamonds), diamond earrings & gold earrings. I was basically told it wasn't worth anything. I am so disappointed. I went there thru Lite Rock 105 and had my wedding ring reset and a new wedding band. Mine had worn right out. They did a beautiful job. Now some 4 years later my husband went in to see how much my 5 diamond engagement was worth (1 carat total) and he said he MIGHT give him $500. He was so snotty and just plain rude. I went after seeing an ad that said they buy loose precious and semi precious stones. I had several large, very nice gemstones. They were very rude and informed me that they "only buy good-sized diamonds". After hearing the ads on the radio all the time I expected a more courteous and professional experience. My now ex wife and I visit Roman Jewelers in early 2006 to purchase our wedding bands. I spent $1500-$2000 on the pair, mine being inexpensive hers being of course more. In 2011 my wife and I divorced and she attempted to sell her engagment ring from Baxters and wedding band back to Roman Jewererls. When they were appraised by Vlad she was told that the diamonds were poor quality and he wasn't interested in either ring. My ex wide told Vlad we purchased the wedding band from him and he refuted her claim saying he wouldn't sell something of such low quality. I take that as an admission from Vlad himself that he is a crook, saying a ring he sold to me is poor quality. read more

I entered happy and left very upset so upset that I'm writing a review. last week I went in with a box of "semi precious jewels" there was a customer at the counter so I waited peacefully until a skinny prick form the back room came out said you can place the box over here let me see what you got. so I walked over set my box on the counter he said no we only buy diamonds. not to mention there was a customer selling his gold to the left of me. so I said ok well do you know of a location that will accept these he said "yea the dump" I was shocked he said that so shocked.. I replied ha that's funny you know you could be more courteous. as I picked up my box and started to walk out. as I got to the door I turned back and said now I know why your place received such bad ratings and left very angry.. The man who looked at my rings was incredibly polite, friendly, and honest- qualities which are very hard to come buy in diamond buyers. They also had some really nice jewelry there. I am a serious jewelry collector. I am not in the jewelry business. In that I mostly collect rare and unusual gems, and set them in fine jewelry I purchase at wholesale prices, a neighborhood jewelry store such as this does not appeal to me as far as its retail inventory is concerned. The few times I visited Roman Jewelers were for minor repairs or modifications to pieces in my existing collection. It was convenient for me as I live nearby. So I cannot speak to the quality of their pieces. Although I don't think they sell very much, as the pieces in their showcases never turnover and I've never known anyone to shop there. I think they make their money buying gold at ridiculously low prices. In any event, I CAN speak to the deplorable, abhorrant, insulting manner in which these people treat their customers. Vlad is the most dreadful, poorly mannered, unpleasant, unprofessional, condescending, disagreeable individual I have ever had the misfortune of meeting in my ENTIRE life. There aren't enough negative adjectives in my vocabulary to describe this cretin. There were no specific incidents between us that would explain his shameful mistreatment of me; I merely gave him business when I could have gone elsewhere. But I got the impression they were unhappy with the fact that I was not buying their overpriced retail jewelry (or underselling my gold) and only "using them" for their bench jeweler services, although this was never said. If they didn't want to do the work, they could have just told me as much and I would have happily taken my business elsewhere. Or maybe they just didn't like the way I looked... I'm not sure, but the way I was treated the last time I was there was utterly humiliating and completely degrading. When Vlad isn't shooting nasty looks your way or talking about you in another language to his embarrassed minion, he's just simply treating you badly in English. You'd think I were asking for an organ as opposed to paying them money for a service. Unbelievable. I am the easiest, most friendly, respectful person to deal with (I work in customer service myself, and I thoroughly enjoy my job and value my clients). I can't imagine how they would treat a "difficult" customer! Actually, maybe they would treat that type of person better? Certainly, they felt they could walk all over someone like me. I can honestly say that I have never been treated so poorly in my life... especially not while paying good money for it. I was so incensed by Vlad's behavior that I felt the need to write this scathing (but truthful) review, which is a first for me. Although it feels good to get this off my chest and give a heads up to any unsuspecting would-be customers, I'm not happy to have to do this. I'm not an angry person and I don't like to speak in this manner. But I will continue to spread the word to every single person I know on this earth who could have even the slightest, infinitesimal speck of a chance of doing business with these people in the future. You'll see this review over and over again on every consumer website I can find. As a side note, while venting to a neighbor who is in the jewelry business (now retired), he told me of a bad experience he had with Roman Jewelers as well. He actually had a problem with a replacement "diamond" they set in a tennis bracelet for him. The matter is ongoing. And I'm going to leave it at that. Please, please do not give these people your business or your hard earned money. They don't deserve it. Needless to say... I certainly won't be going back. CAN'T BE TRUSTED!!! A few months ago I decided to sell some of my jewelry. I saw Roman Jeweler's advertisement for buying gold, so I brought in my diamond tennis bracelet (lined in gold). This is a bracelet that was given to me by my late husband 30 years ago and I had no idea of its value. Roman Jewelers estimated its value at $1,300 and offered me that amount for it on the spot to them. I later found out through old insurance appraisals that its value was $14,000!!! My son called back in an attempt to buy it back, even offering a premium for their trouble - they claimed they only bought it for the gold and don't know what might have happened to the diamonds. They even said "even if we did know its value, what proof do you have" - can you believe the nerve??? It is clear that they knew its value from the beginning, took advantage of an elderly lady with no knowledge of its true value, and then hid behind "what proof do we have"... My advice to anyone reading this is to look for a jeweler who runs a business based on morals, not just what they can get away with legally behind small print!!! So "BUYER BEWARE"!!!!!!! read more
