I had a friend of mine tell me that her fiancee got her ring at Baxter's, so i put that feather in my hat. I "snuck out" and went to Baxter's thinking I was just going to inquire about a ring but I ended up walking out with a slip and a down payment on a ring! The staff at Baxter's couldn't of been any better to me. They had beverages, a cozy couch to sit on, and most importantly WORKED WITHIN MY BUDGET. I was looking at a princess cut ring, but it was WAYYY out of my budget. Fortunately, the awesome people at Baxter's got a smaller diamond from the back and even let me use the glasses to inspect the diamond as they explained it to me. There was no "shadiness" with them. They really put me first. After I proposed to her, we went in and got her ring sized to fit. They're customer service was just like when I went in and they adjusted her ring for free. He looked at it and said it would cost couple of hundred dollars for a sapphire or something similar; I said ok, however I explained that I was thinking about a particular gemstone. He said he would get back to me and and wrote my name and number on the tiny flip page calendar on the desk. Not the best way to treat a potential customer - but needless to say, no one ever got back to me. As I was leaving three women who were not a person of color, walked in and the short older woman emerged from the back and eagerly went to help them. Way to discriminate- just don't bother! I made the mistake of not asking the cost before dropping it off. They charged $80 for a new clasp and kept the old one on it!!! So now I have two clasps (one broken) and it cost me almost as much as the necklace!!! My husband picked it up for me otherwise I would have refused to pay and let them keep it... clearly they took advantage of me and I hope they go out of business for their unethical practices. My mother-in-law's wedding and engagement rings are actually also from here. What has impressed me most about MRT's is their customer service. When one of the tiny rubies fell out of my wedding band early on, they fixed it for free. More recently, I decided to get the wedding band and engagement ring fused together, so that they wouldn't rub together (the side wall of the wedding band was thinning from rubbing). I currently live in California and the price quote I got here for thickening the side walls and fusing the two rings together was $200 more expensive than the quote MRT's gave me. When I took the ring to MRT's, they gave me a price quote based on the time and materials to fix the ring. When they realized later it would take more time to fix the ring than expected, they kept the original price quote, rather than raising it, despite it taking more labor. I just received my rings in the mail from them and am thrilled with the result!

However, when I was leaving I overheard heard her make a rude remark to an employee there along the lines of, "Why the f*** would he bring the bracelet here and not go through them (Swarovski) instead??" The whole encounter left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Before I contact Swarovski, I'm going to bring it to Gray's in Barrington. Those guys are super nice and helpful.

I got the watch back and even though I asked for a polish (cap gold) that didn't seem to happen. I asked when they called for me to pick up the watch. The response was "I think he did what he could". Odd response it is gold it will polish beautifully but nope. Here is where it gets interesting. I wore the watch for about a week. I also wore a Chronoswiss on my other wrist. The Chronoswiss lost no time in a week. The Grand Seiko lost more than 20 min in a week after just being fully serviced at a very premium price. I called and again I got a less than friendly response and a "well bring it in and they will look at it and decide if they will do anything". Seriously? I paid for service and what I actually got was a cheap $8 watch band for $50 and a plastic crystal and they did nothing else to the watch. I did not want to drive an hour and a half to drop the watch off and it is in the opposite direction of work. This watch should be losing seconds in a week not a healthy part of an hour. I brought the watch to my local jeweler who sends them out to a watch maker. I got it back and sure enough it was not cleaned nor adjusted at all by Delman. I gave the jeweler instruction to get very specific feedback from the watch maker. I wanted to be sure it was not my fault like it got moisture in it since I wore it all week. He said it needed a good cleaning and proper lubrication, and he said there was no evidence of moisture. I just simply got taken or they are just incompetent. Either way I will not use them again. I am a collector and have watches serviced at least a dozen times a year. I have never been treated as rudely or had such poor results from a true watch maker in my life. I read through a few reviews as I was typing this. It seems like if you just have a quartz watch that needs a battery, they can do that and then you will leave 5 stars. That sort of also rings as unusual. Who leaves a review about a battery change? Know who else can change a watch battery the 16-year-old kid in the mall kiosk. If you are a watch collector and enthusiast and you know watches and their service, you will notice there is something not right here. They are rude from the start, and it goes downhill from there. I do not believe they are trained watch makers or they just are scammers. There is no other way to explain my experience that I can come up with.

Stay Away! I went to roman jewelers to sell my diamond ring. and some other gold items i no longer need. I know the value as I purchased the diamond a few years ago and also had it appraised by a jeweler. The diamond is worth over $12,000. Roman Jewelers said is was worth $400. but they can pay me $500 if I sell it today. They said they had a customer that was looking for my kind of diamond and they would sell to them today for $650. Thank God I did not fall for it. I just wanted to warn people about this place. I really think everyone should know. I also sent a letter to the Attorney General. read more

The guy working at the store was taking on the phone and it sounded like he was talking to a buddy of his, not a business call. I was never acknowledged and i left the store. Why I'm posting this review now is that a jewler here in Chicago just confirmed the ring now contains a CZ crystal. Not a diamond where the repair was done. They won't return my calls and since it's not worth getting an attorney involved, this is my only recourse. Be Warned!
