Rowan has multiple locations in the United States. The first time I visited Rowan was this location in the Garden City Center in Cranston, RI. I first became interested in Rowan, because I saw their earrings are all hypoallergenic and do not use brass, nickel, or zinc in any of their earrings. I have sensitive ears and am allergic to nickel, so I would always only wear pure 24 karat gold earrings which can be very pricey. Therefore, I wanted to try Rowan's earrings. The earrings are made of 14k solid gold, gold vermeil, 14k gold over sterling silver, and sterling silver and there are different designs-hoops or studs. I looked at the wall of earrings and I liked the 13mm Hoops made of Gold Vermeil. They also gave me a little box to store them. Staff were friendly. Also, all piercings at Rowan are performed by licensed nurses only and they do not use piercing guns, they use a special hand pressurized device that is fully controlled by the licensed nurses. I'm so glad Rowan made these hypoallergenic earrings for people who have allergies like me. read more

I am literally on every Mom group page and I asked for recommendations to get my six month old daughter's ear pierced. I did a ton of research and I ended up choosing Rowan. I am so happy that I did. They are amazing. Appointments were super easy to make the staff. They are wonderful. They made myself and my daughter feel so welcome and so what is. My daughter ended up getting her earring out like a couple months later I brought her back and they put it back in for me no problem no charge. read more

I brought my daughter back here 6 months later for assistance with putting an earring back in. I was unable to do it myself as there was redness and irritation from being bumped out. I asked for a nurse to look at it and advise if it was possible to get an earring in or we should let it close. She did not even look at the ear up close before attempting to shove the piercing earring through. She completely missed the hole and was pushing through fresh skin so my daughter was in very obvious pain. I ended things and said never mind. Will not be returning ever again. They didn't charge me so I guess that's the rationale for one star. read more

Overall I think Rowan is a really neat concept. You now can go to an adorably designed piercing boutique vs just the mall jewelry store or the tattoo shop to get your ears pierced. I think this is an especially amazing spot for kids and teens to get their ears pierced. I made my appointment online, but since I wanted to do needle piercing they had to call me to reschedule the appointment twice since the nurse who does needle piercing wasn't working that day. Booking online, you don't really know what you are getting into price wise. I totally thought that with the earrings they showcased, the price was for two, but the price is just for one. When I got to Rowan the nurse was great and did thoroughly explain the pricing once I had picked out an earring. The needle piercing itself was $70. It turned out that my OG second holes that I got pierced back at Claire's in 1999 were still open! I couldn't get an earing through it, but the nurse gave it a try and she was able to get a needle through no problem. Of course I still had to pay full price for the "piercing". I get it, but it would have been great if they did a discounted rate for these scenarios, especially when you are buying the pricey earrings. The nurse was great at explaining post care and asking if I had any questions. When I went to check out, I was surprised to see the tip option. I thought generally when a medical professional was involved you didn't tip and of course the default tip option included the earrings and not just the piercing service. It seems over the top to tip like $40 for a five minute piercing. Overall I love the concept. I just think there is some rooms for growth with transparency ahead of the appointment and their online scheduling. read more

We spent almost $300 at Rowan last year, piercing my daughter's 2nd and 3rd holes, between the earrings, the service and cleaning solution. She followed all care instructions (she is 17, capable of self-care) cleaning the ears and leaving the earrings in for months before even changing them to be sure they were fully healed. After a year, she took them out for about 1-2 weeks, and the 3rd hole completely closed on both sides. We went in to have them looked at, per the nurse, and upon examination were told that they were done with a device, which they would no longer do that way and should have used a needle. So admittedly they did not piece her the correct way, her piercing never fully healed the right way, but they still denied our request to their office, for a re-piercing. To me, a sign of good service would have been to make it right, and pierce again using the correct procedural guidelines. read more

I brought in my nine-year-old daughter to get her ears pierced (device piercing). Afterwards I got my helix pierced (needle piercing) We were able to have two nurses pierce my daughter's ears at the same time, which was wonderful. They were both great with my daughter and eased her nervousness. They were also great about marking her ears and having me confirm it looked good. My daughter had an amazing experience. We then went into the side room for my needle piercing, the nurse managed my expectations, gave clear directions and I like that we used a deep breath in and out while I got my helix. They have a great selection of earrings (some might be sold out since they just opened and have been super busy.) Make an appointment! If you are bringing a kid ask about their sport studs. Positives: This place is great for people who want piercings but are too intimidated to go into a tattoo/piercing parlor. It's bright and colorful inside, and would definitely appeal to teen and young adult women. The nurse who pierced my ears was helpful, nice and knowledgeable. She took her time and it went smoothly. I like that the people who do the piercing know what they're doing, which was a huge step up from someplace like Claire's or even Piercing Pagoda, which is where I went when I was a teenager and they completely messed up my ears. Negatives: I ended up paying $209 for piercing and the cheapest piercing jewelry. The needle piercing jewelry doesn't come in pairs, so I had to pay $120 for two studs. I haven't had any piercings in over a decade, so I don't know if this is normal or not. Plus the price of the piercing and the cleaning spray, it totaled $209. I wish they just let me buy the studs that come in pairs that you can buy if you do the device piercing. There might be a reason why they can't do that, but I at least wish they had some needle piercing jewelry that I could have bought as a pair. Maybe I don't know what the price for this kind of thing is anymore, but I was expecting it to be like $90-$130 for a standard earlobe piercing and jewelry. Overall, I like the idea of this place. It's a very accessible store to get pierced, and the employees are actual nurses who are knowledgeable and sanitary. It's not just teenagers being paid minimum wage to pierce your ears! But it was very expensive to do a regular ear lobe needle piercing and buy the jewelry individually. It IS cheaper to do the hand pressured device piercing, and if you do that you CAN buy jewelry in pairs, but not for needle piercings, which I had to do because of scar tissue from my previous ear piercing. read more

My daughter and I walked in 3/13/25 for a Helix piercing. We were denied because a nurse was not on duty. We were told to come Sunday. She told us to book online. Did not even offer to book for us! We left and booked online for a Helix piercing . We came in 3/16 Sunday at our appointment time and guess what no nurse. No apology. No explanation, no offer of any help. So really, take your walk in service sign away or correct to say NOT all services available. We will not come again. read more

Cannot recommend Rowan GC enough. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The nurse that did my piercings, Sarah, was extremely kind, patient and knowledgeable. While it can be pricey (pay per piercing for a needle piercing, pay per stud, cleaning solution, tip) it is worth the price. You can tell they take pride in what they do and want every customer to not only have a great experience but a healthy piercing. Will absolutely be back for more piercings. read more

Rowan Garden City is the BEST place to get ears pierced! Everyone there is friendly and knowledgeable! I was there yesterday with my daughter and 3 g-babies getting their ears pieced ages 8, 11 & 16. They were extremely patient and went above and beyond to make it a complete and successful experience. We had Nurse Salpi who was amazing! Another Nurse joined in for 2 of the g-babies to do both ears at the same time versus 1 at a time who was awesome as well. Unfortunately, I did not get his name. Highly recommend this place. Just probably go to Rockstar. They aren't cheaper, they won't talk you through aftercare, and they are all just learning. Go to Providence and pay the same to have an incredibly experienced piercer look after you. read more
