He just said "they're always extra" and when I told him I never had them before he didn't say anything. Had I known I would have just gotten basic nude gel. Last random facts: Vibes are minimal. The manicure set up was not the most comfortable. Bonus points for having a parking lot in Studio City. If you're sensitive to smells do not go around lunch time. I appreciate their affordable $44 gel manicure (now well over $60 including Upcharges and gratuity) but I may pay the additional few dollars to stay at my regular place where I'm treated to water, tea/coffee and warm herbal neck pillows for a similar price. Then I went to my previous nail tech to have her take the polish off and clean my toes up because I was a bit iffy on letting oh la la do my feet again . I wanted them polished though at oh la la because they do have a good nail color selection . So I went back to get a manicure because I love the way Tina does my hands . As I was there this time I did make an official complaint about my toe being burned she then offered to comp 90$ against my service for my manicure . However I was refused nail polish on my feet that had no product or nothing on them . Which I can understand because of the incident but I was still willing to try someone differently at oh la la to get it right and I still was willing to spend money with them despite the hiccup . I waited two weeks with no nail polish on my feet because I was told that I would have to get a full service and no nail polish . I called to schedule an appointment . I asked them for a really good pedicure girl . One after I booked my appointment I was texted that I was denied future appointments there at oh la la . I still don't know why . I never yelled at anyone there . And I was really nice about them burning my toe and still wanted to go there . I don't know if this is a racial issue . But if you are a girl of color this isn't the place for you . They are only tending to their own kind in there . And they were very dismissive . I hate the experience ended on a bad note after I was still trying to book an appointment and still support this salon. I even referred a few friends there . I will also be telling them to not support a salon who handles their clients poorly . Apparently my money is not worthy there .

During the removal process, the electric drill used to remove the gel felt like it was scraping my actual nail, not just the gel. It was very uncomfortable and painful while it was happening. In addition, the UV curing light was left on each nail for too long, which caused a strong burning sensation. Another tool was used underneath my nails (possibly to clean underneath them), but it involved filing under the nail, which was painful both during the process and afterward. By the end of the appointment, my nails and fingertips were throbbing and stinging, and I was sweating throughout the service from how uncomfortable it was. There also seemed to be a bit of a language barrier or miscommunication when discussing the nail shape. I was initially asked what shape I wanted and we said almond, but it was later switched to oval. I was completely fine with that (it's actually what I wanted), but the change wasn't clearly communicated verbally until I asked again to clarify the shape. The technician herself was very nice and sweet, and I appreciate her kindness during the appointment. However, the level of pain during the process felt torturous, and because of that I would not return for this service again.
