I very much enjoy Romano's pizza. It is always hot and fresh when I pick it up. Sometimes the cheese is a little too hot in the center which makes it pull off the crust but it's still soooo good. They have a cool little arcade in the shop as well. read more

This place boasts NY pizza, and they're not lying. I am a born-and-raised New Yorker who has eaten a lot of "NY pizza" here in Texas. Some pretty good pizza, but Romano's is truly the closest to real NY pizza!! The atmosphere is so cool with old-time, console video games (Pac Man, etc) to play while you wait for your pizza. And the 2 guys who own it and do it all are the coolest dudes who are just super proud to make really good pizza. I haven't had anything else (bc I love the pizza) except also the NY style cheesecake. I never should have had it though - it's so good I drive there just for a piece of cheesecake!!! Meatballs were very good and reasonably priced. The pizza we had wasn't great- it was giving food court- but the sauce was sooo flavorful. Service was friendly and takeout was quick right at opening. I've only gotten their chef salad for years. It has gone donehill. Chef salad has more than pepperoni and a few pieces of ham. Mostly all lettuce. That's a lot of money for lettuce. No egg, an olive, a few sliced red onions. They used to have the best chef salad around but not anymore. They should remove it from their menu. If you don't know about this place, you should. Great east coast style pizza. Different crusts available. The free arcade games inside make me show up as soon as possible after I make my order. If you order wings to go, sometimes you get lucky and piece of artwork will be drawn on your wings. AND I have ordered different wings and haven't gotten the same drawing twice. Considering how good all the other reviews are, I'm slightly disappointed in this place. Ordered XL pepperoni hand tossed crust and garlic cheese sticks. Upon ordering takeout via phone, the guy taking payment asked for tip on a take out order. First, asking for a tip is offputting and borderline rude. Second, you don't tip take out. No service is being performed. This is coming from a former career server of 3 years in Waikiki. They gave me the wrong crust. I received thincrust by mistake. At least I'm assuming so. The pizza I received was so thin, I can't see any other pizza being thinner. They have a thin crust on the menu and considering this was paper thin, they gave me the wrong crust. Came to try this little joint a few days ago. Ordered spaghetti and meatballs and it was delicious. The serving size was enough for two meals for my husband. Since it was so good, we came back a few days later and ordered hot buffalo and asian-zing flavor wings. It was another tasty meal! Owner is the rudest person ever. I walked in with my 3 kids to order food to go. My husband was over supervising them while they played the arcade games they offer for free while I ordered. After I payed and started to walk off he cam up to the counter and told me that while he appreciated my business my children needed to be supervised at all times and shouldn't be standing on chairs. Also they needed to handle the games with care as they are from the 1980's. Then ended with "this isn't Chuck E. Cheese. Obviously this is not a family friendly place. Romanos is not what you would expect from a family owned Restaurant in this little town of Lake Dallas Tx. My son will usually order Delivery at least twice a week. Now while the Pizza is good I prefer the Calzone. It's big enough for several people to eat from it and it is packed full of whatever ingredients you prefer to add. There hours are a little different which can be a challenge if you want to order before 3 pm I think. They Employees are friendly and accommodating. I have had more expensive Pizza around there, and Pizza from places with names that would suggest Mom and Pop restaurants possibly from Italy. I was initially attracted by the exterior, it just looked like it would have good pizza! Looked like an east coast, hole-in-the-wall pizzeria. And then I turned to my Yelp and ta-da! 4.5 stars. Yes we were definitely going! It was a total 80's trip inside! Memorabilia to boot and vintage arcade games lined the walls. Come to find out the owner was the one actually making the pies. I wanted him to be from the east coast so he could tell me it was NY style pizza. But he wasn't, nonetheless the place felt very special and had NY-like art hanging. And then the pizza, yummo! It had an authentic taste and quality ingredients. Sauce was on point and I could taste the oregano in it. You can get any type of crust you'd like, well needless to say we got it "thin & crispy".
