This was a good taste of home in Louisiana. The shrimp poboy and fried catfish were very good. Will definitely be back

Back for dinner. Andrew our friendly bartender. Both had the filet with mashed potato and sautéed vegetables , filets were wonderful, perfectly seasoned and cooked. Finished with the special champagne cheese cake!

I ordered the shrimp basket. My husband ordered a burger. Both were huge! The food was delicious. They had several menu items that sound great. Prices average around $17 per entree. Some items are a little less, some are about double that. The outdoor back patio was nicely decorated with tablecloths, flowers, and fake candles. They do have patio heaters. They had TVs on and a local sharing his life story with anyone who would listen. The bar area patio was enclosed for warmth, but absolutely filled with cigarette smoke. They had slot machines at the bar. It's like a dive bar serving top quality food and attempting to be nicer than a dive bar . The vibe was a bit odd. Our waitress was very welcoming and friendly. She had that southern hospitality charm. We received excellent service.

Came across Walter's Tavern when traveling through Lake Dallas. Had the French Dip sandwich and fries, it was the best. We didn't know the restaurant had a fire in the past and they are currently rebuilding. We sat on the patio, was Leary at first but the outstanding customer service made us want to stay and eat, they brought 3 heaters to our table and made it very comfortable. They made sure we had everything we needed. We can't wait to come back. Nice to support a local when they are rebuilding.

We had been been wanting to try this restaurant for a while based on some neighbors recommendations. Wow- We we're not disappointed! It likes like a small pub from the outside, but the food is top notch! Our waitress was very knowledgeable on the menu and helped us with picking our meals. We started with chips and queso (the hubby couldn't wait, he was starving) and he said it was good (I did not try it). We ordered fried green tomatoes for another appetizer and it was yummy. For our meals we ordered the filet, a blackened ribeye, the lobster and shrimp special, and the giant meatball bowl. Everything was amazing. I had the filet, and I must say it was just as good as some of the best steakhouses we have been to. We can't wait to go back and try some other dishes as well.

Walter's Tavern is a gem located in the small town of Lake Dallas a short drive on I 35E north of Dallas. The menu offers the usual bar items with a few surprises including chicken fried brisket and jalapeño gravy. My friend and I opted for the cheeseburger and we're not disappointed. A thick and well seasoned beef patty with all the fixins. We both had the white cheddar cheese and I added bacon. Fries were included. We both had iced tea served in whopping big glasses. Service was efficient and friendly without being overly attentive which I like. The decor is somewhat upscale for a tavern. The lighting is on the dark side befitting a bar. Several tvs graced the walls. The bar is on the back wall. This seems to be a "Cheers" kind of place where locals meet and greet. However my friend and I did not feel out of place. If you're at the lake or just passing through Walter's is worth a look. Right next to the Sonic.

Great food and service. Would highly recommend to anyone who loves great food. A bit pricey for certain things, but well worth it.

Very clean dive bar with good food. Partly transformed into a restaurant. Cute patio, but also has smoking there.

Had a great philly cheesesteak and a great chat with the staff. Highly recommended, looking forward to when it fully reopens.

The sauce is there, but I am guessing they don't soak in sauce? Could get more flavor that way. Also was a little disappointed with as much dead crawfish, but since it's ayce that's not as huge an issue. Nice clean restaurant with a lot of potential.

But, we wanted to find out what it was like for ourselves, so we decided to pay them a visit for a birthday dinner. The dining area is open and large enough to accommodate lots of diners, although on a weekday evening we practically had the whole place to ourselves. Speaking of being a weekday evening, cocktails were half price for happy hour, which meant the first order of business was getting a margarita. Now it may not have been the best one I've ever had, but it certainly was one of the strongest! I definitely got my money's worth there. They have a $25 appetizer and entree combo that seemed like a good deal as well, so I decided to go that route. I chose hush puppies and jambalaya from a list of about half a dozen dishes. The hush puppies were crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside and all around tasty. The jambalaya was hearty and well seasoned. I don't think I have ever had one with as much shrimp, sausage and chicken either. Again, it was well worth the price. One of my friends, who also went with the combo, got the house salad as an appetizer and it was big enough to be a meal in itself. In fact, everyone was impressed with the size of their meals. We were equally impressed with the quality and flavor. My youngest son is notoriously picky, and even he loved the food. Our server was as sweet as she could be. She actually didn't know we were there to celebrate a birthday, so I can only assume that she's always that nice. It was such a great experience overall that we are already looking forward to returning and trying more of their dishes.

The lobster tail was a bit tough and overcooked, which is a waste. Mussels were good too. Garlic noodles were not our favorite. Corn and potatoes are good, but they're a bit stingy about it only giving you one of each. When your seafood boil is $70+, you should get more than one of each. The flavors linger in your mouth for a bit. It lingered for almost 2 days for me, but would definitely return!

Unfortunately, the service was questionable. Our server had difficulty communicating in English, which led to a costly misunderstanding. When we ordered crab, she never asked what type of crab we wanted and instead assumed king crab, which is significantly more expensive than other options. As a result, our bill was much higher than expected. To make matters worse, a 20% gratuity was automatically added to the bill without it being mentioned to us beforehand. While restaurants may choose to add gratuity in certain situations, customers should be clearly informed so there are no surprises. My advice: enjoy the food, but be very specific when ordering. Confirm exactly what type of crab you're getting, verify the pricing, and check your bill carefully. Also remember that gratuity should be clearly communicated and not assumed. Better communication would have made this a much better overall experience.I'd rate it 2.5 out of 5 stars. Great food, but the service and communication issues took away from the experience.
