Went to eat Chicago style food Dec 23, 2023 at 6:00 pm. pizza was great but waitress went to refill my ice tea and 11 minutes later I had to wave her down to ask for my refill, no biggie right . I ordered food to go and gave a generous tip. When I got home I realized they shorted me one of my " Chicago dogs ". The more I thought about it the more puzzled I became . So I moved to riverside in 2002 and have been going to Ramano's since 2002 and for the most part I have had Great service there. But the last 3 times I've been there within the last month the bar side service has been horrible. I think they do not have waiters handling the tables in the bar anymore. There are 3 guys behind the bar that seem to hang out at the liquor part of the bar and seem to be tied up making mixed drinks for the restaurant side and almost completely ignore the people sitting at the bar and tables in the bar area. The last 3 times it's taken a minimum of 20 minutes to get someone over to take our order and then by the time they get the drinks now we are talking 30-35 minutes then another hour to get our food and that whole time no one asks if we would like another drink. We went there on Sunday. Food was good. We got appetizers, pizza, salad...all was very good. Server was attentive. Bathrooms were clean. The only down side was that 2 - 3 TV's were broken or couldn't be turned on for whatever reason so this was a problem because we really wanted to watch the football game. My husband and I would consider ourselves semi-regulars here at Romanos in mission grove. We would hang out at the bar almost every other weekend before our daughter was born. So it's been a bit since we've had a chance to go. But we love the atmosphere, the servers are always super nice and the new Saturday night concert hall is always super fun! Plus the new menu that was updated a while ago has lots of great options. We love it here and all the updates have made the place even more special. read more

So after catching oceans 8 we decided to give Ramano's a try, seeing that it was across the parking lot from the theatre. The atmosphere is very casual. Lots of baseball memorabilia. (Somebody there is big into baseball) The food was quite tasty. I had chicken fettuccine and my husband had a sausage sandwich. Lots of food we had to get to go boxes. I will say this, that fettuccine was Devine the next day. My daughter and I had a field day with it. My only concern was our server. Not sure if she was having a bad day, or this was just her. First time here. Last time here. Decided to go with the Fam to have lunch before our showtime at the theatre. Was not greeted upon entry. Waited a few minutes and was told we would be seated shortly. Ordered a medium deep dish pizza and was told it takes 40 minutes!!! They where not even busy, only a couple of tables with a few people. Walked out and went to Ohana Sushi instead. We have been a big fan of this restaurant but it seems mismanagement of it is causing it to go downhill. We showed up for dinner the other night and stood by the front door waiting to be seated for 30 minutes while there were open tables. Workers kept walking past us without acknowledging that we were there. Finally, we were seated and waited another 30 minutes before we actually talked to a server. We tried to order drinks but everything was out. Finally just went with soda. We ordered a large pizza, 2 salads and 2 soft drinks and our bill came to $84 with the additional fee for using a debit card!! The pizza was soggy and tasteless but the salad was good. Just wasn't $84 good. We can get a large pizza at Antonios close by for $20 and its better! Sorry to see this place go downhill. We used to love eating here and the one in Canyon Crest that closed. My family is from Chicago and we are always looking for a good deep dish pizza. I ordered a Romano's stuffed pizza and what I thought was a layer of cheese, was a layer of raw pizza dough. I'm not giving up just yet because the flavor is perfect and I may try a thin crust. Just disappointed I spend over 70.00 dollars on a deep dish and a salad and it was not cooked throughly. Eeeeh....so far...whatever....I got here plenty of time not many people...TV's ok...not big no 4k...sound not to loud....they have a bar side and a dining and some small arcade place for kids....restaurant not the prettiest...patio looks really nice but no one is using it....it's located in a really nice plaza right next to the Galaxy theaters....prices....a little pricey...haven't tasted the food yet....cause it's taking forever so I have plenty of time to write this review ..I guess I'll keep you guys updated on how the food tasted once if it ever comes out.....la la la la la So here's the review....pastrami sandwhich was ok....the manicatti was whatever....I guess I hardly ever try the manicatti so I don't have much to compare it to...it came with a salad which was blah....had white onion..I guess I prefer red onion..sweeter and more colorful...it didn't taste very fresh....I got some pictures on the food.... Hard to think that such a promising place is not quite cutting it....they depends on those football games to sell pizza and beer...forget quality and cleanliness...this place needs a remodel...look at McDonald's they've revamped all their restaurants...sure not as kid friendly happy as they were but certainly more attractive.... read more

After looking at other reviews, I had to make mine. I also noted poor service. Perhaps they have not been properly trained? We had to flag the server down to let her know we were ready to order (there was only 1 other table seated). When we got our food she did not check back until we gestured to her again. The food was high-priced, but tasted well made. I won't come back to spend $60.00 and have to beckon the server to do her job. Finally, when we left the server did not acknowledge us (by this time she had 3 tables including us). The only person to give a smiley good-bye was the young woman behind the counter (assembling food). Romano's please train or manage your front better. read more

So disappointed, the staff alone made this a bad experience. Ordered it n the phone, was told 20 min. Showed up couple in front of me was seated and hostess ignored me, went and had a quick chat with the waitress that was at the cash register who also said nothing with me standing at the counter, hostess then grabbed 2 menus and took the couple that walked in behind me to seats, lady at cash register walked away. THEN the hostess comes and asks me what I need- explain picking up, gets my pizza which has been sitting there ready.. I hand her cash- she makes a face and states she needs to go get change, I wait longer... she comes back opens the drawer to tell me she has no ones and no coins. So what was the point of getting me change?? And making me wait. I could have paid with a card and not given almost $2 tip for crappy service. Romano's is a Family favorite. Came here with a large group of people, none of which tried the pizza from Romano's before. First time here and probably the last. The stuffed pizza is fair nothing special. We ordered the large Romano's Combo Signature Chicago stuffed pizza. First thing we noticed was the pizza was swimming in a layer of liquid on the pan making the crust soggy. I asked the server of all the stuffed pizza's come like that, he said yes because of all the vegetables on it. What????? This was the third stuffed pizza we've had in the last two months, the other two pans were dry with just as much tomato sauce on them and pizza were not swimming in liquid. If you want the best Chicago stuffed pizza go the Rance's in Costa Mesa. We also ordered the Bruschetta with the optional fresh mozzarella cheese. I was craving deep dish pizza and found this place on yelp and thought I'd give it a shot. I'm not one to write reviews but this place was bad. I walked in and sat down for a party of two and it took the waitress a long time to even acknowledge us, their beer tap system was not working so no beer available. I ordered buffalo wings and a pizza, when the wings arrived they were dry and I had to ask for more sauce which ended up tasting watered down. The pizza arrived next and it was cold and undercooked. The bill was 80 dollars for a med pizza, salad and wings which i don't care to pay if the food was good but this place has horrible food including the service that was provided by the waitress who literally ignored us the whole time. First we had to go to the bar to get drinks then we had to go to the bar to order our food. One hour later we got our thin crust pizza.

I think management needs to reconsider how they run these weekend shows. My wife and I showed up for dinner at 8pm on Friday night. We like to sit in the bar area and enjoy a bite and some drinks. From the second we walked in we had a person asking us if we were there for the show, to which we responded no, we only wanted dinner. No lie, we were there for an hour and that same person and what I assume was security guard asked us about 4 times and tried to get us, and everyone else sitting at the bar top, to pay to stay for some show. Sucks because I counted at least 5 other couples at the bar, with food getting the same treatment. These concert people emptied your bar area by 9pm, only to let about 20 concert goers in. When we walked out at 9:15ish, you had more staff than customers outside at the entrance. I bet you would have made more money from all the bar patrons that were pushed out than you did from that little concert. read more

I went out with some friends for dinner and was excited to have some Italian food. We ordered and then waited. And waited. One person's appetizer came out and we were told there was a large group before us. During this time, we watched a group that got here after us receive their food (with similar orders to us). When our food did arrive, it was not at the same time and in an inconsistent order. The pizza and calzone were first, then one salad, then a soup, then another salad. At this time, I told another server to please cancel my order as I no longer wanted or needed it after waiting so long. However, my pasta, after more than an hour and a half of waiting, finally showed up. When we got the bill, I was charged for a garlic bread that I never received. We did get cash back but it shouldn't have even been an issue. Was the food worth the wait? No. My carbonara had scrambled eggs in it which told me they did not correctly make the sauce (not mixed correctly). The day after I had stomach issues which hints that it was something in the dish that was not ok. I tried eating leftovers and it absolutely did not sit well with me. What a waste of 20ish bucks!!! I couldn't fully enjoy it the day I ordered it or the leftovers. One of our friends actually left early after seeing the wait and ended up buying food from another restaurant on her way home. If I was not here to be with friends, I would have left way before that hour and a half. I am very disappointed and do not plan on returning here. I hate leaving bad reviews but this was truly a bad experience. read more
