A few days ago, I went to Roma's to buy some scali bread, and I also selected two turnovers. The woman who assisted me asked if I had ever been there before. Okay, I lied and said no. She then told me "we've been here for 55 years." (maybe, but I happen to know that the business changed ownership some years ago). I paid with a credit card and walked to my car. Looking at the receipt I realized it was way off. I went back to her. She insisted on looking in the bag to see my items, then checked her register. She had overcharged me $12.90. !!! I asked her to refund the charge and start over, but she said that she couldn't do that, so instead refunded two separate false charges to my card individually. I got an apology, I think, but she was acting so busy and bothered so I just left. By the way, the turnovers were mediocre. Pastry, in my opinion, should be light and flaky. So my husband and I went to Romas today to pick up a loaf of scali bread but we left with a COLISEUM! It was delicious! And worth every penny and could feed an army! Highly recommend! Reached out to business via email on their website and didn't hear back. $6.95 for a stale Cookie Monster and $4.85 for a stale half moon. Had to be trashed. Was passing through the area and didn't know until I later in the day that they were no good. I live 40 min away and couldn't return in person for a refund. Scratch bakery and deli with a 50+ year history. You love to see it. I ran in to grab arancini, garlic bread, cookies and rolls. And every darn thing was fantastic. I tucked into the arancini - sausage and broccoli - right away and the rest is going to stock my fridge for the next week. This is the kind of place that anchors a downtown. Glad I tried this place out. The Sicilian cheese pizza is quite delicious with homemade dough and sauce, it's a very "light" pizza. I will let you know ahead of time this will be a lengthy post but well deserved: This starts on Easter morning we were on our way to get our pastries at Roma's but on our way there I got a call from lifeline that my mom had taken a fall and was being transported to the hospital once at the hospital I knew we were not going to make it to Roma's before they closed I called and spoke with Mike and explained what had happened and if he could do me a favor and donate what I had ordered or if he knew of someone that could use them. Mike was absolutely amazing and said to take care of my mom and that he was going to hold my order until my mom comes home I said no please I do not mind you donating them he said we need to take care of our parents and she will deserve some treats when she comes home. April turned into May and she did come home but not for long because unfortunately she took another fall and ended back in rehab until august. I felt bad because I had gone into roma's and explained she was still having issues and Mike and V were amazing and said do not worry we are here when your mom is ready. My moms birthday was 9/11 and guess what we were finally able to get her Roma's YIPPY. Mike, V and the entire staff have been amazing and I honestly will not go anywhere else for my bakery needs I will support this business always and will tell my family and friends to support them as well. My mom loved and enjoyed everything that she had on her birthday. It is situations like this that you are thankful for having people and business that care so much about their customers as Roma's. read more

Food: I got a chocolate cookie sandwich. The sandwich has frosting in the middle so it's pretty sweet. The cookies a big so the sandwich is definitely made to share. The cookies are super moist and the frosting is the perfect consistency so it doesn't squish out the sides when you bite into the sandwich. Service: The girl working the register was a bit rude. She didn't say anything but her face clearly showed that she was tired and did not want to be fetching baked goods for others. Ambience: Plenty of room to look into the display case and table of baked goods that is set out. They also have a little table so you could stop in and enjoy a quick treat. This is the third cake we have had an issue with and received very little in way of apology. Between wrong flavor, misspelled name, and now no cake at all! We will be moving on and giving our business elsewhere. Long story short my husband ordered a custom cake with writing and they gave the cake to someone else. They claim that someone came in asking to pick up that particular order. Funny because my name is very uncommon and that would be quite the coincidence. Updated review: I went back and explained what happened on my previous visit. I was given store credit which I'm fine with. Although I'm not especially excited about trying new items now. I was a bit disappointed because the woman who assisted me kept saying everyone loves our pizza, we sell a ton. And basically acted like it was me, not their product. Even after showing a picture. Whatever. I changed to a 3 instead of 2 stars for the store credit. But the pizza was so bad and getting over charged so irritating that I can't justify anything higher than 3 stars. read more

Not a terrible place.....I spied pizza, tonz of cookies, sweet rolls, and fancies. Some CAKES, and Portuguese sweet rolls. I stopped in on a whim, as I was picking up lunch next door. The service was ok, store clean. Not a TON of product. Appeared to cater more to the sweet tooth. The hermits and seasonal pumpkin spice cookies I got were just average. This is my first review, usually just use Yelp to figure out which new place to try. My family just moved to a town 30 min away from Roma's. The only reason I found it was by a friend recommending it to me when I had drive to Woburn for the day. After eating their Pizza I can no longer eat the pizza in my town. The hour round trip is more than worth it! Also I picked up a Fudge pie..Fudgilicious? That will be making an appearance at any excuse to eat pie, holidays, birthday parties, Monday's. I stood in line for almost an hour 12/24. That was expected. But I brag about the italian assortment of cookies from Roma's when I bring them to an occasion. I got 2 loaves of the Italian scalli that were fresh. I asked for 1 lb of the cookies. I couldn't wait to take them to offer them after Christmas dinner. I decided to have 3 Christmas Eve. I was so disappointed. They had no taste of anisette & neither were they melt in your mouth delightful. As they usually are. They were so stale and hard. I brought them anyway, and all that tried them said the same thing. Stale. Someone brought some from MB & were much better. Went into Roma's tonight to pick up desserts...the chocolate cannolis I bought were as hard as rocks, we literally couldn't even bite through them, and the chocolate cake slices we bought were stale and flavorless. Every Sunday in the 70's, after going to The First Congregational Church next door to Roma's with my dad, he would give me 50 cents to get a couple of chocolate chip cookies here. They were flaky and crispy with little moist chips scattered throughout. And always fresh. Fast forward to the present. I go in, maybe three times a year at the most, to get some pasties and cookies. After this last experience, I will NEVER go in again. Wasn't that impressed before today, the eclairs had a taste to them like too much baking soda or powder, the chocolate chip cookies have changed, of course they did, why NOT ruin a good thing?! Big square chunks of rock like chips on top, if you're not careful you could break a tooth. Got home with a couple of the large cookies, a cream puff, and two apple turnovers. The cream puff had a penicillin smell to it, turned it over, a faint blue spot of mold on it. Tasted the filling, sour and tart. I almost threw up, I swear. Down the garbage disposal, Took the cookies out of the bag. The chips had white spots on them, the chocolate was either deteriorating or the cookies were refrigerated or frozen somewhere. The cookie part, hard as a rock, and also tasted old. Here 'ya go Mr. Disposal! The turnovers smelled okay, but now I'm almost afraid to eat them, so they too might end up in the sewer for some hungry rats. I never see any bakers at Roma's anymore, or even anything being baked for that matter. So much for calling themselves a "bakery." All I see now is a couple of girls that look like they're still in high school. (Maybe that's where the greasy black hair came from on one of the turnovers I got there last time.) Not sure if they even bake anything in house, maybe like Dunkin Donuts, everything is shipped in from God knows where. So I'm out almost $15.00 for moldy, hard, stale pasties that my sink ate. You want fresh baked goods for half the price of this dump? Go to your local grocery store. I like Market Basket myself, they at least have the dates on the packages, and if the food is starting to expire, they have a discounted rack for them, they don't deceive you unlike Roma's. Or more fitting, "Rotten Roma's". read more

Far From the Norm. You will not find better food then here the sandwiches are a meal and the variety unmatched. You have to try the Gigi jones the pesto is so good it makes the whole experience. The bad reviews here are absurd. I've been a frequent patron of Roma's for over a year now and they always have delicious offerings, and their made-to-order food is killer. Their customer service is always friendly and exceptional. Now, during the shutdowns, Roma's is always the place that makes food the fastest out of all other options. I've held off on writing this review for a while - holding out hope for Roma's. Sad to say, but the Roma's I've known and loved is starting to go downhill. Not sure if it's coincidence or has to do with the expansion of more locations. What used to be 5 stars is now 2 or 3 at best. My last few visits have been frustrating and disappointing to say the least. For example, I recently went in to buy a birthday cake, as is family tradition, and was told there was no one there to write "Happy Birthday" on the cake. I asked if there was anyone available at the new Burlington location and was told yes and that the same style and size cake was available there. I drove down to the Burlington location and there were no birthday cakes available. I drove back to Woburn Roma's, angrily purchased a birthday cake, then drove back to Burlington to have it decorated. I was not happy, to say the least. The staff behind the counters also seem to bounce from customer to customer, making the process of ordering a total cluster and long drawn out process. Although I should say there is one young male who works there who is particularly good and efficient! While the prices continue to rise on everything the inventory seems to be dwindling. Roma's now regularly runs out of items we have at every holiday gathering. For example, today I was not able to get the tricolor champagne cookies for Easter tomorrow. This is not the first time this has happened. Roma's! I hate to leave a bad review as you've been our family's go to bakery for years.
