The most disappointing Italian restaurant I've been to in the area. First, service was slow even though the place wasn't busy. We almost got up and walked out and looking back now, we probably should have. Menu looked delicious. My partner got spaghetti with meatballs. They claimed to the meatballs were handmade but that was not the case. Looked and tasted just like the frozen kind you get in the grocery store. I picked the eggplant parm. It came out at room temperature in the middle so I just ate the pasta on the side. Very disappointed all around. Would not recommend if you're looking for a good Italian restaurant. read more

We had always heard great things about Romeo and Juliet's but were disappointed tonight. The eggplant caprese had very hard eggplant and was supposed to be served over bread. It came with a little stale piece of bread on the side. The dressing was very sour. The margherita pizza was ok but it was definitely cheese pizza with basil and not margherita. I havent been to this location in years and yesterday I was reminded why. I spent over $65 in desserts. Got one of almost everything to try out and bring to my family. Every single one was dry, old and even chewy. I expect the product to be fresh especially when im paying over $5 for a singular cannoli. The cannoli filling was a weird texture and tasted like whipped cream. The casatta cake was so dry I threw it out after one bite. Im very disappointed with my experience at this location. The original location on Hertle ave cannot be beat. The girl cashing me out was nice and knowledgeable but the desserts themselves were actually gross. Ive attached a picture of my dry slice of cake. We had dinner here on a Thursday evening and it was not crowded. There was plenty of parking in front of the restaurant. We ordered Peroni beer as our beverage selection and it was served in a beautiful etched glass. It was very skunky smelling and tasted stale. The antipasti was good, as was the bread. The pizza with pepperoni was very tasty. The chicken parmesan was disappointing because it was served with very little sauce or cheese. We asked for extra sauce twice, and our server, Gabriella, was happy to oblige. According to the menu, this dish was supposed to come with a side of spaghetti, but was served with penne pasta instead, which we were not made aware of when ordering. Our server was very sweet and attentive. She was the only server working and she did a great job of keeping everyone happy. read more

I've been meaning to get here forever, and thanks to our monthly ladies' lunch outing, I finally made it! The parking lot is tiny. Good thing 3 of our group were car-pooling. Plan accordingly. The giant glass case of desserts is the first thing you encounter as soon as you enter. Again, plan accordingly. I started off with wine, and the pour was generous, as it should be for a $9 glass of house wine. One of our group was thrilled that they have raspberry iced tea. Next up, our server delivered a basket of fresh bread with artichoke/green olive tapenade. Dee-licious! It was so good we opted for a second basket when offered. Three of us ordered panini, and my Monet was really,really good. Marinated artichokes, roasted red peppers, portabellas and provolone on olive focaccia. YUM. And it's huge. So having consumed so much bread with tapenade, I was only able to finish a quarter of it. (The photo shows how much I brought home.) Fourth friend ordered the soup and half panini option. She ordered pasta fagioli, but Italian wedding soup was delivered, which she ended up being glad for, as it was deemed incredible. No room for dessert, so I decided to bring home a tiramisu. Awesome! Highly recommend. Good thing my fellow diner was so pleased with her soup, since her sfogliatelle was a big disappointment. I tasted a piece, and sure enough, it wasn't the crisp, layered pastry you'd expect, but chewy and dense. Oh, well. That was the only negative regarding the food, so taking away a whole star for that little blip seems harsh, but there is no half star option, sooo... The menu is big, with so many tempting options, I hope to return sooner rather than later. read more

I stopped here last night with a friend around 5:30. She had previously made a reservation. We had choice of which table to sit at, which was nice. I ordered a cappuccino, which was fancy. I also ordered a half size of their Mediterranean salad, which was great. I also ordered a steak panini and a glass of moscato. Both were fantastic! They have great looking sweets, baked goods, cookies, cannolis and other things. I'd like to try those, when I return. My friend ordered a cheese and pepperoni pizza. I had a small slice and it was fantastic too! There were three waitresses waiting tables at the small restaurant. Ours was great! I have been wanting to try this cafe for a very long time but haven't had the chance to. This location was the closest to my place. It wasn't super busy when we went for a late brunch. As much places, this spot requires everyone to wear a mask until they are seated. The staffs were all wearing one as well. We got seated right away by the window. They do have an outdoor seating area but it was a little windy and chilly to sit outside. We ordered the bruschetta di filippo as a starter and it was great. Love the eggplant and the flavors, but wish the cheese was a little more melted. My boyfriend ordered the cristo panini and I ordered the Dante panini. The size of the panini was big for me. The Dante panini was really good. The cheese was melted just right and the fresh tomato sauce was a nice touch with it. I tried the cristo panini and i liked it too. The roast beef was not dry and it had good flavors to it but I definitely like the Dante more. I didn't have a chance to try the dessert because we were stuffed but will come back for the desserts anytime! read more

Everything was presented very well. Very happy. Will come back here again The only downside the tables were very close and it was very noisy. The hubby and I stop here for date night every now and then. It's a tiny little cafe. They have excellent desserts. I'd say the menu needs a little updating. There is very little seasoning with many of their dishes. This time I had the stuffed red pepper and hubs had the spaghetti and meatballs. I really enjoyed my stuffed pepper. It comes with green beans and garlic bread. The green beans had no flavor. No salt. Nothing. The garlic bread is just not good at all. I give this place 4 stars because the staff is very friendly, the restaurant is very clean and the dessert is awesome. The food just needs some sprucing up. read more

I always enjoy myself at Romeo & Juliet's. It is such an adorable Italian cafe! The atmosphere is cozy and charming. They move very quickly, while still serving freshly prepared food. Whether I order a pizza, salad, panini, appetizer or dessert, I am always happy with my choice! Their baked brie appetizer is great! It is served with strawberries, bread and apple slices. I also really love every single pizza on their menu, especially the Quattro Formaggio pizza and the Margherita Pizza with added prosciutto! Romeo & Juliets' dessert selection is so impressive! Excellent food and service. My group ordered 3 pizzas. A four-cheese, a cheese and pepperoni and a portobello mushroom. They were a fine thin crust baked perfectly with a great crisp and slight char. My favorite was the 4-cheese although the pepperoni was sliced thin cup and char that was perfectly crisped under the fire. If you really want to taste perfection I would get the 4-cheese with pepperoni!!!!! Looking forward to my next visit! read more

We have eaten here for years and like the place. We walked out last night kind of disappointed. To generalize, everything was fine, but the corner cutting in ingredients was pretty evident. Pasta was dried, out of a box product with watery sauce. I bought a meal salad topped with albacore and it came from a freaking can. Pizza crust was perfect but cheese was that plastic stuff that comes in a block. Well prepared, good service, but for years we came here because it was better than what we cook at home. By saving money on ingredients, now it's worse. Hate to see it. I think this place is a hidden gem. I went here with three friends of mine on Saturday for lunch and we all got the lunch special (half a panini, half salad or soup, and cannoli) for $13. The steak panini and pasta Fagioli soup were AMAZING. I forgot about the cannoli with the meal; I packaged up part of my lunch to take home and ate the fresh dessert while I was there. The rest of the table enjoyed their chicken panini, soup, and salad. The service was great, the food was great, the place was clean, and the price was right; you really cannot go wrong here! read more

I don't even know where to start. This is the first time I've ever been so disgusted, I started a review in the restaurant. Todays entrees- two servings of Eggplant Parm, one Braciole. Prior to these was an acceptable soup and salad. Issue one - all three entrees served were reheated. Eggplant complete rubber in areas, in others complete mush. Requested parmesan and crushed red pepper flakes from server 3 times before they complied partially (in hopes of masking taste) , told no pepper left for us even though it was on most tables. Now the worst part. I've ordered Braciole at 20 restaurants. Several members of my mostly Italian family make Braciole. I've never met one I didn't enjoy. Until today. This was not Braciole.It was precooked, reheated Italian Meat loaf. No sign of flank or veal cutlet. Ground Beef and maybe a touch of veal cooked like a meatloaf with hard boiled eggs and a piece, a single piece of prosciutto wrapped inside. Burns edges. Horrible. Requested refills on our drinks after they had been empty, server comes back and tosses two 16oz Coke bottles at us rather than refilling our glasses. usually I try to be lighter and funny, but this place sucks. Odd part is all decent reviews. What I see here is a classic case of the owner and their established regulars being the frog placed into boiling water and slowly brought to a boil. Everything was fine when the place opened in 99. Owner and family were present, cared, and it was probably excellent. Now they have two microwaves , a couple short order cooks, and don't give a shit about anything anymore because it's just their retirement plan. The deserts looked excellent, but we were all literally sick to our stomachs and never want to eat again, now would we contribute a penny more to this farce. read more

I amend my previous 4 star rating ...this is definitely 5 stars. Hands down my favorite pizza in Buffalo. So so good. This is the crust that you can trust. We ordered the lobster ravioli. Little pockets of love are what those are. You can just taste the difference in homemade pasta. It's almost foreign when you've never had the real thing. But foreign good. The cream sauce even had hints of walnut which I thought was a really nice touch. We ordered dessert to go. Tiramisu?? I think you do! It was so good it was half eaten on the way home. We are going to be back to try more of those displayed temptations soon. read more

Great place for casual dining at a very reasonable price. Menu consists mostly of pizza, salads and Italian dishes. Upon entering patrons observe a cafe & bakery area that sells many delicious looking deserts. Turning to the right is a small dining room with a fireplace that was a very welcome sight on the cold and rainy night that we visited. We were fortunate enough to sit directly next to the fireplace. We chose to share a salad and pizza. The salads are quite large and easily shared by 2 or 3 people. We went with a Mediterranean Salad and a portobello pizza. The salad was lightly drizzled with balsamic. We found it to be very good, containing fresh apple pieces, chick peas and feta cheese. The pizza was thin crusted and very good. There was a bit of Gorgonzola cheese on it which went very well with the abundant large mushroom pieces on it. The only disappointing aspect of the meal was that I had to send my wine back when my wine glass came with an obvious lipstick mark on it. I think that wine glasses should always be looked at for fingerprints and other marks before the wine is poured. Beyond this we found our server to be attentive and the meal to be very good and very reasonably priced. read more

THE PIZZA. Even if I had eaten nothing else here, the pizza is so legit. Thin, crispy edged crust, perfect portion of toppings, delicious sauce. Truly as good as it gets when it comes to pizza. Definitely 5 stars for the pizza, which is what you should focus on when you come here! We also had a wedge salad that was meh, and C got Italian wedding soup that she said was good. I didn't get around to trying the desserts but I'm sure it would have further supported my 5 Star review because they looks amazing! So pizza and a dessert, fuhggedaboudit! read more

My favorite dish, so far, is the baked eggplant parmigiana which comes with pasta ( perfectly cooked) covered with home made tomato sauce and fresh julienned basil and a crispy slice bread. 5/5 Lover man had the cheese ravioli with meat tomato sauce. He loved it. 5/5 Lobster ravioli: 4.5/5. I've never had lobster ravioli that was this tasty before. The sauce tastes like green olives or/& tad mustard was added! Great! Pretty much the same as all of their other locations..... except this one doesn't have the selection of Italian Cookies (and I absolutely love those!). The menu has salads and pizzas and pasta dishes. There are a few specials each day. Three of us shared the "Mediterranea Salad" (mixed greens, feta cheese, chi-chi beans, grape tomato, and apples tossed with balsamic vinaigrette dressing). It was so big that we almost couldn't finish it. It was served with delicious, fresh rustic bread and an olive-artichoke tempanade. Yum! Next it was the "Margherita Pizza" (mozzarella, fresh tomato sauce and basil). It was the perfect thin pie. Great balance of flavors topping a thin and slightly charred and toothsome crust. Desserts are brought in from the Hertel location.... and I must say that they sound and look better than they taste. The chocolate mousse (ball) was overly sticky and overly sweet.... with a chemical-like aftertaste. I (personally) would stay away from anything in the case.... unless they decide to bring over their cookies. read more

This place is pretty good but I think I would've had a better time had I order different food. The meal started off with bread service and a garlic and olive spread. This was my favorite part of the whole meal. The spread was amazing and so was the bread. Next up it was the baked Brie appetizer served with toasted bread and sliced apple. This part of the meal was also very good but the strawberries place inside parts of the cheese did not work well with the Brie. I just had to eat around those parts. The main course for me was the Quattro formmagio pizza. This cheese was certainly funky. Almost tasted like they had put blue cheese on thing. This wasn't even a pizza it was a flatbread because it didn't come with any sauce on it. I had to ask separately for sauce. And then the pizza just tasted like sauce so it still wasn't very good. I tried some pasta that one of my family members got with there chicken Parmesan. That was pretty good but it's not hard to make pasta. Overall a decent place that I will probably return to and order something else. read more

This is one of my absolute favorite spots in Buffalo. The inside is super cozy and intimate. It's the perfect date night spot. There is a beautiful fire place and the decor and the art in the restaurant is beautiful. It's a wonderful place for a special occasion or just a night out with a loved one. The food is totally delicious. It's authentic Italian food. I highly recommend their Antipasto and their Bruschetta. Their Wood Dek pizzas are wonderful and are perfect to share (or not to share). I recommend seeing if they have their Chicken Pesto pizza on special. It's one of the best pizzas I've had in my life. Their desserts are divine. I enjoy their chocolate peanut butter cake, but my favorite is their chocolate raspberry cake. They always have a wide selection of Italian cookies and Cannolis on hand. Even if you are full after you put meal, I highly recommend you bring dessert home for later. Overall, Romeo and Juliet's is a great Buffalo eatery and has great charm. Went there thinking a bakery within a restaurant would be a great idea but quickly discovered this was not an accurate assumption to make. The restaurant atmosphere is very inviting. This small place was tastefully done up by someone who has a flair for good design. Their pizza had too much crust for my taste but great toppings. There are better pizzerias for sure. The pastries behind glass did look amazing. Unfortunately, some tasted like they had been out there a while. So the dessert was disappointing dried out cake with good flavor. read more

They have salads, paninis, pizzas, and a variety of other food. I've never had something here that I didn't like! The Quattro formaggio pizza is by far my favorite. It has four kinds of cheese and is made on a super thin crust. The pizza isn't expensive and it's enough to share or you will have enough to take home for another meal! I decided to venture out to this quiet little place because I'm moving over to that location and always wondered how the food was. I was seated in this awkwardly placed table in the corner of the restaurant and was greeted by a wonderful waiter. So far so good! After getting our drinks and end enjoying the bread and olive spread I started to look at the menu. This is where it went a little down hill... Glancing over the different sections of the menu everything seemed overpriced from the salads all the way to the pizzas. I went with the Caesar salad with chicken and split the Tranvai. Let me be honest, it was well worth the money and the portions were GINORMOUS! When the waiter placed my salad in front of me I had this image in my head that it would look like one that you may get from some chain restaurant and small in size... I was so wrong. My friend got the Melanzane Caprese salad and just like the Caesar, massive. My girlfriend got the Quattro Formaggi which was just okay. Her pizza had an overpowering taste of gorgonzola which turned me off to it, but hey, some people like a nice stinky cheese. Overall I think this place is a hit, no wonder they've been opening more of these around Buffalo. Next time I visit I'm definitely going to be saving some room for one of their desserts! read more

Three locations, but this review is for the wonderful little bakery/bistro on Sheridan in Tonawanda. The parking here can be a challenge during the dinner rush hours since the lot is very tiny but there is parking along the side street. As you walk in you are greeted by a 4 seat counter, a few small tables and a beautiful dessert case featuring cakes, pastries and cannoli. Along the counter there are homemade Italian cookies, biscotti and sugar cookies and behind the counter there is a small selection of homemade breads. All very appetizing and my favorite way to be greeted, for sure. The friendly wait staff is happy to seat you in the larger dinning room (which has a small gas fireplace) and take your drink order. Perhaps a little red wine to compliment your meal? Yes, please! The extension of the wine list is minimal, but efficient. They bring a wonderful green olive tapenade to spread on their own freshly baked bread as a bread basket. R&J's has a lovely selection of large fresh salads, "healthy" options, homemade Italian favorites and panini, but the star of the show is the pizza. Oh, it's NOT Buffalo-style, so don't expect a pillow-y crust and tons of sauce and cheese with "flavor pools of pepperoni". It's old-world, wood-oven fired Italian style: freshly made dough, stretched thin and crispy on the edges with lovely bits of char, sparingly topped with sauce, cheese and toppings. As a Buffalonian, you might think it might not be what you want but if you go in there with an open mind and want to try something different, I think you'll be surprised by how delicious it can be. Our favorite is the potabello with the addition of fresh mozzarella and extra basil. OMG, it's heaven. As you bite into it, each element is appreciate at different times and it's all a wonderful cloud of scrumptious. If your not up for pizza, the newer "healthy" options on the menu involve calorie counts and lots of veg, which can be very helpful. The panini are cut into heart shapes which is very charming, along with them being very delicious. The salads are nice and big and fresh. The red sauce is delicious and made from scratch by hours of simmering with sweet tomatoes, minimal seasonings and lots of fresh basil...just the way my Sicilian grandma made it. There are real, fresh eggplants, lovingly slices and hand breaded, between layers of sauce and topped with good "motz". The rest of the selection of Italian favorites is small, but comprehensive enough: Spaghet' and meatballs, Lasagna. The specials list changes and usually includes things like Vodka Sauce, ravioli, penne, White Wine Cream, and my favorite not so traditional Arrancini. I very large rice-ball, filled with ground beef, peas, cheese and red sauce, breaded and fried and served with more of the red stuff. It's not a crispy thing, which some afficianados find is an important quality missing but I find it a very tasty thing, done with a unique R&J take. Fresh coffee, espresso and cappuccino are a great accompaniment to one of their tasty desserts. I have yet to find a true chocolate devil for my tastes, but I do enjoy the cassata cake. The cookies look good, but since they sell them by the lb, and I generally bake them at home myself, I haven't had the pleasure of trying their versions. We've even ordered take-out from R&J's and everything was well packed and delicious. If you want a nice, authentic Italian dinner that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, with good service, and a nicer - have a glass of wine - atmosphere, you'll enjoy R&J's. For me, it's always a perfect romantic date night, or a great place for an intimate dinner with another couple or a couple of friends. read more

This place is the cutest! My parents love it here and I have joined them a couple times in the past few months. It's a quaint café/bakery on Sheridan. The dining room isn't huge, but I have seen them accommodate larger groups of 8ish people. There's a cute fireplace and is a good pick for a date night or a get together with friends. All the food I've ever tried there has been great. Starting from the bread they bring out with olive spread. The pizza is delicious - I'm not normally a huge fan of thin crust but they do it right. All the panini that I have tried have been outstanding, and they have several veggie options. (Plus, they also come in the shape of a heart!) The pasta dishes that others have ordered have been great. There is a bakery up front, and there are so many great dessert options to choose from, so save room for dessert!
