Well, we had a reservation too! Our resi was for 545, less than half the restaurant was full at this time. A poor decision or lack of training on the hostess (Janice) part to not try to accommodate the customer. We tried to make the best of it. I moved next to my husband and my son, was a trooper and sat across in direct fire. Waitress even made another comment that she had hoped when their food came, it would be quieter. Nope! We would have ordered wine, but not with that kind of hospitality. Our food was good, but with the atmosphere and hospitality not given, we will be trying other establishments.

I ordered the olives, burrata, and the rack of lamb with some ice cold beer on tap to boot. Burrata is a dish I order often and the execution of this one immediately got my attention. This was all prepared exquisitely and the flavors played a symphony. The exact same description applies to the rack of lamb, served with some berry reduction, mint, local mushrooms, and an out of this world potatoes au gratin. Of note, the potatoes were a true homage to the state's most famous crop! And the lamb, sourced locally, of delightful quality. Please see my pics of the perfect pink lamb chops that I cut down from the rack. That ambiance is warmly lit, dim, and very cozy. I had a booth by the window decked out with multiple soft pillows. Not knowing any restaurant in Ketchum, the ambiance I saw in online pics was a big draw for me and it didn't disappoint. Service was on point; enough said: it's 5 stars!

The hospitality was warm without being over the top. No mid-bite "how's everything" over and over. We shared the sour cherry layer cake, the dark chocolate sea salt whiskey pudding, and a bottle of Cabernet. Every dessert was thoughtful and beautifully executed. The sea salt on the pudding was especially unforgettable. The layer cake paired beautifully with our wine. Great food is easy to talk about, but great hospitality is what brings people back. They told us they were at capacity, but to grab the couches when they became available and it was the same menu and service. It took us about 15 minutes to secure a table in the lounge, which wasn't too bad. Since I had 3 very hungry kids with me who had skied all day we were ready to order, but our waitress was nowhere in site. I asked a few other staff members if we could order and they said they'd send her over, but we waited and waited. Finally she showed up and we placed our order right away: ahi tuna nachos, tempura green beans and trout. For the amount of time we waited for our food we could have waited the hour and 20 min at Village Station. They teased us at one point by bringing out plates so we thought our food was coming, but no luck. Our waitress continued to ignore us, but i waved her over a few times and each time she told us our food would be out in a minute....and then another 20 minutes would go by. I asked if she could bring out a bread basket to at least get something in the stomachs of these hungry children (and my stomach too). She said she'd so right away, but nope. Finally after I waved down several more staff our food came out. I believe it was about 90 minutes after placing the order. The food itself was fine and I think the ahi tuna nachos were the winner. When the waitress walked by again I immediately asked for the check because had a feeling that would take another hour. At this point I nicely explained my disappointment with the meal, but she just smiled at me and walked away. And as we were walking up the bread basket we had asked for at least an hour beforehand showed up. You'd think it was freshly baked bread for the amount of time, but the bread was as hard as rocks. This entire experience was 1-2 stars, but since I've had good experiences in the past and it was a busy weekend we'll go with 3 stars, but I won't be running back there during future trips. And I'll definitely stay away during busy weekends!
