I ordered an egg, cheese & potato breakfast burrito and they put meat in it! Since I'm a vegetarian, I couldn't eat it! I spoke to the manager and she offered me a free burrito... when I ordered my free burrito, the cook burned the entire outside of the burrito on purpose (because it was free) the tortilla was black so I removed it and when I tried to eat the insides it was filled with egg shells inside the burrito which I crunched down on, DISGUSTING! I am always suspicious of a venue that takes your card and presents you with tipping options when you know they;re only going to put your food on a plate and yell that it's ready. Huge judgement error eating here. Starving and traveling thru the area I was going to get something at Burger King. Being a bit anti corporate and this place being next door, I tried it. It was half hour before closing and I appreciate the workers wanting to clean up on a Saturday night. I asked if it was okay to eat inside as the young lady swept a French from off the floor in front of me as I was ordering. No problem she said. The salsa bar looked legit, so I stayed. After enduring a bleach mop filled meal of tasteless chicken and cleaning supply order, I left with no Ill will. Next day worst diarrhea of my life. Seriously. Don't be fooled by the fact that this Mexican restaurant is inside a gas station; it is legit delicious! We got the carne asada nachos (even the small was humongous) and 3 taco special. It was enough food for a week (and under $20!) but we ate it ALL because it was so delicious. Super friendly staff and spicy salsa bar won us over. Had lunch today at around 1PM, Saturday. There was a small line but it went quickly. I had the Carnitas Burrito ($7.89) and fries ($2.99). The burrito was the best burrito I've had in Oregon in three years. It was absolutely delicious, reminding me of great places in Southern California. The fries were very good and made to order, nice and hot. My friend had the chicken burrito combo plate. Accidently got beef, but they instantly gave him the chicken, which he said was very good. The location is in a gas station. Parking is just okay, we parked next door. Inside was 'fairly' clean. The counter lady was very polite and friendly. The kitchen area was very clean, which is important to me. I would definitely go back and will. Thank you for your time. read more

Bland, very little to no salt, very little to no heat. Special was 4 rolled Taco's for $5.99, Chimichanga was large for $11.99, but came with nothing but a little lettuce, pico and cheese. No rice/beans or other sides included so we ordered rice and whole beans for $4, pico, guacamole and sour cream for another $4. I asked for both whole beans and what kind of meat was on the taco's only to get no taco's and refried beans. We had to ask for salsa, got both the regular and hot which was all habanero, both mediocre at best. Tasteless is the best word to describe all of it right down to the guacamole. No jalapeño in the pico......why? Pass this place up. Service is fair to almost bad yet friendly staff. We threw it away after several bites. read more

Before you think that Romulo's isn't that good because it's by a gas station, think twice. They have some of the best fajita plates considering that it's next to a gas station. The meat and vegetables in the fajita mix are delicious, the beans and rice are also delicious, and the tortillas that you also get with the fajita blend are good as well. And you get a generous portion as well. If you can't get into Si Casa of Sutherlin, this is the next best thing. read more

Romulo's isn't a watered down version of Mexican cuisine serving "mystery meat" and questionable veggies. Instead, real food is offered on its menu, despite being in a gas station. This little restaurant serves up good food at a decent price. We had the California Burrito. It was stuffed with carna asada, rice, potatoes and beans. It was so large we split one half among us; it filled both of us up. A nice feature of this restaurant is the condiment bar. It's self-serve with a variety of sauces and other Mexican favorites to add to your dish. I was particularly impressed with the dessert churro. It was freshly cooked and well seasoned. It's only a buck, so it is very affordable. Bottom line, it's not a fancy restaurant to take a date to or to celebrate a special occasion, but it's worth going to for a nice authentic meal. I am from LA and frequently come to Oregon many times throughout the year. We stopped at this place on the way to Toketee Falls, and I have to say this place is the most authentic Mexican food I have had in Oregon. Closest I have gotten to LA Mexican food while visiting. The breakfast burrito are amazing and the fresh green salsa has so much flavor, not to spicy. Overall if you are looking for a quick spot to grab some fantastic Mexican food this is your spot. The girl working as cashier has a very poor attitude and the quality of the burrito was terrible. Ordered a breakfast burrito with no meat and got a burrito with no cheese and very sloppily put together,eggs were burnt and drenched in grease When I took it back the girl had to be told that their was no three times. She looked at me like I shouldn't complain The remade burrito was so bad that my wife didn't even eat No one likes to have to return thing's as it gets costly with today's gas price's. This particular location is connected to a gas station, which would normally be enough reason for me to move on to the next food spot. Having tried it, this will no doubt be my go-to food stop on the drive up to Portland from Southern Oregon. Given that it was still morning when we passed by and stopped for gas, I got a steak breakfast burrito. If anything, it could use some pico de gallo or avocado to add some variety to the flavor profile - I used salsa from the chips & salsa bar. Ended up here totally by accident I thought it was the A&W Root Beer place in Sutherlin. I guess they changed 2 years ago. I decided to take home dinner for my husband and myself and sample a cheese enchilada while I was there in order to sample the Salsa Bar. Being the fast version if Romulitos in Roseburg, I paid up front. Not quite 100 % fast food as there is a place for a tip on the credit card slip. I tipped $6 on a $20 tab (for them to share)as I had had a chance to speak with 2 of the cashier's (business was slow xx typical for it 4pm but it be us right off Exit ####. One girl was just getting off her shift and was sitting at the counter where I chose to sit. There are 3 or 4 booths to sit at as well. Ah....this is why tips are to be paid AFTER the meal! I had ordered two dinners to go and had to repeat "with the works" each time despite me describing up front what I was anted, detailing each component (...sour cream, pico de gallo, guacamole. I was served my "trial" ala' carte, before the stuff to go arrived on the counter. It was attractive but served on a paper plate with plastic cutlery. A medium plastic cup of something resembling thick green gravy and another with fresh tomatoes, onions, cilantro, all chopped. What was served as guacamole was tasteless. The pico was fresh but lacked any heat...luckily neither we salty. I went to the Salsa Bar and sampled the two mild choices a one green, one red with large whole chilies tomatillos?) floating in it. I was lacking the sour cream so I flagged down the cashier in between her taking care of 4 or 5 customers. She told me it would be 99¢ extra. I expressed my surprise when I told her I thought it would have been included, given the description and repeated requests during ordering. My bad. I was 1/2 way through the cheese ENCHILADA (remember I had ordered a tostada...perhaps she was thinking of the one I had ordered to go home with my dinner) when I reminded her again. I was 3/4 through when I caught her eye while she was standing back near the grill and prep area. She told me she was waiting for the cook to get it from the back. ?? The Pepsi was great....it can be different, coming out if self-service dispensers you know. The enchilada was pretty tasteless but made with fresh ingredients and served under the red sauce I love. I will check back in later to let you know how the take home dinners were. UPDATE: The enchilada was edible. The burrito was the size of a small football. I am a believer in quality over quantity. I've been here a few more times then I have checked in. Romulus can seem "pricey" to some people but in reality for the amount of food you get and the fact that it still being made to order only takes about 10 minutes is awesome in my opinion. This is more of a grab and go type joint being connected to a gas station it's not exactly a "restaurant" but if you're passing through on I-5 and need a quick bite while you fuel up this place is very convenient. My husband grew up in San Diego (so we are very picky) and this is one of 3 favorite Mexican places of ours in the Roseburg area. It is deceiving being in a gas station but the food is authentic, fresh, and delicious. I've gotten all sorts of stuff here and nothing has ever disappointed. Their breakfast burritos are huge, carne asada is tasty, fish tacos delish. Salsa bar with pickled items and several house made salsas tops it off. Prices are great for how much you get as well. They have $5.99 Taco special that comes w/3 good sized street tacos! It always mystifies me if there's a huge line at expensive but crappy Taco Bell down the street when you could go here and get the real deal. Definitely recommend! read more
