Well, first of all, I have a problem with a restaurant that doesn't give you bread on the table, especially in Italian restaurant they charge $13 for those two little pieces of garlic bread, which I thought was absurd when I received my raviolis they were cold and hard, and there was barely any Bolognese sauce The Bolognese sauce that was on there tasted like burnt Bolognese like it had been made weeks ago and stored, and just kept being reheated. She did bring me some extra, but it was so terrible. I couldn't even eat it. That's why I gave it away after the meal. Also, the beignets that Ferdy ordered tasted like it was fried and old oil that they fried multiple things in possibly like mozzarella sticks, fried zucchini, calamari, and that also fried a dessert item in there overall I would rate this restaurant out of five stars I would give them maybe one star $65 was ridiculous for a terrible plate of raviolis and a piece of garlic bread read more

Just home from dining at Roni's West. Dinner for 4. Food was delicious. I had the Black and Blue Salad and also ordered the Wild Mushroom with Arugula appetizer and put it over the salad... We also had the garlic bread, which was more cheese bread than garlic bread. The espresso was good but not hot enough. Second time around didn't get better. It's one thing having high prices on low quality product as your business will soon be exposed and vacated from return visits. However, once you post a price on your menu and charge a higher price on your bill then it's over for me. Let me support my comment. Pino Grigio is a low quality 12 dollar bottle. They charge 14 dollars a glass. Garlic bread 13 bucks, you get two slices. Here is the kicker. See the picture for yourself. I look at this as a point. On the menu an IPA is 7 dollars. I got 2 and was charged 8 dollars each. When I said something to the waitress she apologized but did not adjust the price. Just made an excuse blaming the owner for being behind updating the menu prices. Seriously? So, 2nd time, last time. Thank god for Angelo's. See you next week buddy. It's a shame. My original review was for Chefs grill!! Was disappointed at the new place! The menus is not "expanded" as one person wrote, it is completely different! Not bad. The menus was nice and all Italian, which is needed in this area, and the ambiance was nice as well! The service was not great and I imagine it was just our server! She was very distracted and nervous! It was very offputting! When I am spending a lot of money at a restaurant I expect the server to be very engaging and be helpful. I felt like I could have been at applebys!!! We ordered a couple appetizers and she asked if we wanted to order the garlic bread too and I said we'd order that with our meals. We forgot to do that when we placed our food order and she did too. When the food came we realized that we hadn't stated it when we ordered so we put in order. It came after we were halfway thru our meals. She should have made a note o put it in the order earlier when she knew we were gonna order with meals. It was also my birthday and they do not do anything for a birthday!!! The other two local Italian places do a little desert with a candle. Nothing here!! Not even a candle in the desert we ordered. The Chef's Grille was my favorite restaurant in this valley. I ate there often and always left happy. Since I moved away, Tuesday was my first time to experience the change to Roni's West. I invited a friend who had never been there before. We were not greeted, but seated by a very rude hostess. Our server was very sweet, and the lasagne was delicious, but quite overpriced for just that alone. We asked if we could pay extra for bread and butter. There was no butter. They charged for 4 very small pieces of bread toasted so hard it was like eating a plain crouton. The waitress seemed embarrassed. There was no side salad included so I was going to pay $20 for a salad with filet mignon. I thought for $20 it would be enough to have a small portion with my dinner and take the rest home for lunch the next day. It was not. It was served on a bread board. Just a small handful of arugula with a couple little pieces of Parmesan cheese. The filet mignon was cut in little pieces next to it. I don't remember ever having bad filet mignon, but this was dry and flavorless. My friend and I were both so disappointed. I used to recommend The Chef's Grille to everyone. Ask for recommendations - I've never been disappointed! I've tried both a pasta dish (Pasta Verde) and Filet Mignon Pizzaiola - both superb. We had a special for the appetizer (bacon wrapped dates) that would be hard to beat and the bread is consistently good. This is a wonderful restaurant that deserves our community's support. Came here for my anniversary a few weeks ago and everything we ordered was 10/10! First we had the meatballs marinara appetizer everything was so flavorful. For our entree I ordered the tortellini rose w sausage spinach mushroom tomato it's everything you want! And my husband ordered the ribeye cooked to perfection. We ordered a vodka penne ($22), two lasagnas ($20 each), and a sweet tea. The food was mediocre and the prices were high (especially for the quality of food). The lasagna was not good. Although a decent size, it tasted worse than a store bought frozen lasagna. My vodka penne wasn't too terrible but I had to force myself to finish it. We had an early dinner here this past Sunday. To start, I really wanted a Caesar salad but didn't want to pay $18 for it. I was told they were family size only. So the waiter said he would bring me a small side house salad and he even did it with Romaine lettuce which was my preference. This was all great until I saw on the bill that he still charged me $16 for it. So I could have gotten a 4 person salad for $2 more? Ridiculous. For the main entrée I had the Filet Mignon Pizzaiola and I thought it was great. Flavor of the sauce was excellent and filet, while not a huge portion, was very good. My wife had the Lasagna and while she really liked it I found it a little dry with little cheese, meat and sauce within the layers. We added meatballs to the lasagna though and these were very good. For dessert we had the Spumoni and this was just not good at all. it was tasteless hard ice cream with no real fruit or pistachio nuts added. Tasted like old Dryers ice cream but did have good whip cream on top. A few odd things, they serve no bread and it's only available as an appetizer. They also don't seem to have any vegetable sides on the menu other than a $14 plate of Brussel Sprouts. Would love to see some broccoli or maybe spinach available in the future. Lastly, they have family size meals which is great but why is a 4 person family lasagna $89 and the single portion $20? It would be cheaper to by 4 individual plates than the family meal... Overall, it was a enjoyable meal and we'll be back but they probably need to work out some things. read more

I just want to give a quick shout out to Ronis West on Jefferson. I made a last minute decision to take my 1.5 year old to dinner and just picked a place not thinking how nice it would be. I was a little worried it was too nice for a baby, but they were so accomodating and friendly. The food was amazing. Can't speak to the cocktails but the wine list looked impressive. I was kind of sad they were quiet tonight, being a Saturday, but I know it's a slow time of year. Anyway, pay them a visit! It's definitely a good date night place. read more

We always loved visiting Chef's Grille before it became Roni's West, especially for their Sangria! After receiving several invitations to try the new restaurant, we finally decided to go. Tonight, we had a 6:30 PM reservation to celebrate a special occasion with a party of three. We started with the mussels--easily some of the best I've ever had! The sauce was so delicious I could have sipped it on its own. For our entrées, I had the steak medallions with pasta, my husband ordered lasagna with meatballs, and my friend chose the chicken marsala. We also enjoyed the most decadent garlic bread with marinara sauce. My steak medallions were absolutely delicious--tender and perfectly cooked. My friend's chicken marsala was also a hit--flavorful and tender. We enjoyed a delicious Malbec, Chardonnay and a hazy IPA. Unfortunately, my husband's lasagna was completely burned on the bottom, which was disappointing, especially since everything else was presented beautifully and fantastic. He could only eat the top of the lasagna, and while the meatballs had great flavor, they were a bit dry. We were surprised the kitchen sent that out. We loved Chef's Grille, and, after reading some of the early reviews, wanted to wait until they ironed the kinks out of their menu. We finally went tonight and really enjoyed it very much. Cocktails are overpriced at $17 for an old fashioned, which is too high. It's a very easy to make drink... nothing special. $34 for our two drinks is ridiculous, and we won't order cocktails again. However, wine bottle prices were spot on. Personal opinion, you need to work on your chimichurri... definitely not authentic, didn't have a good taste, and we pushed it aside. The filet medallions were perfect, and contrary to other posts from people who've only ever had store bought boil at home, the pasta was great! We really miss the old gang (fun, personable, talkative) from Chef's Grille. The new staff is much more reserved, but were outstanding. Overall, a very enjoyable meal and we will be back to try more from the menu. read more

We loved Chef's Grille. We hated Roni's West and will not be back. So disappointing too, love supporting local, but not when it's like it is now. The staff had zero personality and our waitress was super awkward. We ordered for 5 people including garlic bread for the table. The garlic bread was a portion for two people unless everyone wanted just one little bite. The lasagna didn't have any meat in it and no flavor and looked frozen and reheated. The pesto pasta was around 4 bites (no exaggeration) worth and cost $22. The other dishes were very mediocre at best and the pasta consistency was gross. Nothing tasted fresh or looked appealing. I'm afraid the change from Chef's Grille to Roni's West unless drastically changed, will be the end of the establishment sooner than later. P.S. The TV on the wall of a supposed "nicer" restaurant is very distracting...and the Wizard of Oz music playing bizarre. We all left just flabbergasted and $160 poorer. Oh, and a Mother's Day flower handout or free dessert would have been a nice touch, but nope, didn't cross their minds...poor marketing too it seems. EDIT - The owner likes to insult instead of take constructive criticism, which is another reason they'll fail. By the way, I haven't been to an Olive Garden since 1996 LOL! Tresino's, Gourmet Italia, Bella's, Anthony's, Angelo's and Rustico's have you beat by a mile!! Good luck! I was really excited to finally try Ronis West but now I'm not. I was planning on taking my family of six here for dinner to celebrate a recent graduation. We love supporting local businesses and are especially fond of the great Italian cuisine in the area. We were big fans of Chef's Grill and were cautiously optimistic when the restaurant transitioned to Roni's West. However, after reading the owner's responses to previous Yelp reviews, I've decided I will not be spending my money here. Constructive feedback is an important part of any business's growth, and it's disheartening to see the owner respond to customers with hostility and insults. That's not the kind of atmosphere we want to support. If someone came into my business, spent their hard-earned money, and offered thoughtful feedback, I'd say thank you and take it as an opportunity to improve. Not belittle them! It's disappointing, especially since we truly enjoyed Chef's Grill. Unfortunately, based on the owner's attitude toward customers, we won't be visiting Roni's West or supporting any business owned by this guy. read more
