A friend and I had dinner on Thursday night. We started with drinks from a somewhat small but interesting drink menu. I had a Phuket Number 3 which required instructions on how to mix the beans into the drink and companion had Last Train to Chiang Mai. We enjoyed our drinks. We decided to focus on small plates. We tried the Phuket Jor Pu which was very good. The Kinnickinnic crisp shells were flavorful and had a nice combination of textures. We're both sushi fans so we went with the Sakura Roll which was also good. Service was prompt with finished plates leaving the table almost as soon as the fork full hit our mouthes. I had been wanting to try Room Service since it opened and it did not disappoint! I visited on New Year's Eve and loved the vibe. The plush green chairs and benches and the dim lighting made it feel intimate and cool. We split a few dishes and were super impressed with the drunken noodles and KK crips shell tacos. The gyozas had a different presentation than I had seen before which was fun but I won't need to try them again. We loved our drinks too and both tried the last train to Chiang Mai. I visited Room Service for the second time the other night. My first time was with my husband for Valentine's Day and the experience was phenomenal. I couldn't stop thinking about our dinner and was excited to return. So, I hyped the place up and was so excited to come back for dinner with a good friend. We had early reservations, 5:30, on a stormy Thursday night. We arrived right on time, and were seated in a not too busy restaurant. Our waitress greeted us right away; and got our drink order going. She asked us (twice) if we were celebrating and both times we told her we were old friends who hadn't seen each other in a while. Hint: don't rush us. She didn't get the hint. She came over multiple times in the first 5 minutes to get our app order. The first two times we told her we hadn't looked at the menu. When she came the third time we ordered the kinnikinic tacos (amazing, my second time having them) and the royal flower dumplings. Our apps came incredibly quickly. The tacos were delicious. The dumpling presentation was very pretty; but very one note flavor. Basically, peanuts. We both were disappointed and would not order again. While we were eating our apps, the waitress came over AGAIN...to ask us if we were ready to order our entrees. Call me crazy but we had just ordered a bottle of wine and two appetizers and hadn't even been there 15 minutes and were eating....give us a few minutes! We basically told her to come back later as we hadn't even looked at the rest of the menu. We finished the apps and decided on the angry lobster roll. We put that order in, and we're looking at the menu for dinner options when she came back. We asked for recommendations and she suggested the short rib or the Namya Pu. She told us that the Namya Pu is a medium heat level. I'm ok with medium am my friend loves spicy so we went for that. That dish came before the lobster roll which surprised us since we ordered the roll first (and wanted the roll first). We expressed surprise to the food runner who told us that wasn't communicated to the kitchen. We said ok, and then AGAIN asked to give us some time before the roll was delivered. She said ok. We started in on the Namya Pu. Nice presentation and the flavor was very good but it was definitely not medium heat level. It was very hot; even my friend had a hard time tolerating it. We told the waitress when she checked on us and she brought some limes to help cool it down. We were a few bites in to the main dish when our lobster roll came. I looked at my watch and laughed- we had literally been seated for 30 minutes at this point. Definitely not a relaxing dinner.l- we felt so rushed. We finished our food and were presented with a dessert menu. Just moments later the waitress came back to take our order- even though we hadn't even picked the menus up. We told her that, yet she came back again a few minutes later. We decided not to order dessert and were immediately presented with the check. We had a good 1/4 bottle of wine left. And, still many, many empty tables in the restaurant so I'm not sure exactly what the rush was. I get that restaurants don't want you to sit for hours, but we literally were forced to eat our 3 course $180 meal in about an hour. Literally, we walked out the doors at 6:30, an hour after we walked In. I was disappointed with our experience. The food was good, although I wouldn't order the dumplings again and I'd be careful ordering anything with medium spice level! I do think that had the service been better I'd be much more forgiving towards the food issues. I am not sure I will return. After reading other reviews, I'm adding a few things: we were not provided chopsticks when our sushi was delivered and had to request them. Between appetizers and dinner course we were told to keep our fork. At an establishment like this, I'd expect they can provide a new fork rather than make me place my dirty fork on the tablecloth. We had to ask for new plates when our sushi came, I guess we were expected to eat sushi off a plate covered in curry? I asked our waitress if they had low sodium soy sauce and was responded to with a scoff and a "no". I don't know if it is a faux pas to ask for low sodium in a Japanese restaurant? It felt like the waitress thought it was a very foolish question. read more

we had a great experience at Room Service! i was skeptical when i first walked in here. it seemed like a very trendy restaurant however wasn't sure how authentic. everything from the service to the food was excellent! pad thai- we think we had the best pad thai ever here... we have been chasing good pad thai since we got back from thailand and this definitely hit the spot! flower dumpling- this was good and i can see why this is a popular dish but tastes similar to the korean sesame dumplings which i love too! crispy tuna- a little too crunchy and hard to eat but still tasted goid brisket soup- it was good but not my top choice. wish i got double pad thai definitely a great date night spot! the restaurant is small and the seatings are a little close together. the waiters seem a little squished walking around. however they were so attentive and the service was wonderful. read more

I tried Room Service for dinner on a weekday with my coworker as I was visiting the city for work. What an amazing experience and great asian food! We ordered Lychee drink which was delicious! For starters, we tried the steamed dumplings which looked pretty and were deliciously edible. For main course, my coworker ordered the pad thai with shrimp and I got drunken noodles. They were very generous with the serving and we could not eat the entire main course, and savored all that we could. I believe the focus of the restaurant is small plates and it was hard to get the timing and structure of when things came out. There was no real rhyme or reason to that, and our table was small so it was hard to fit everything on it. I wanted a more extensive sushi menu. The waiter told us it was in the "full menu" given to you with a QR code and when opened, it was the exact same menu as the one I had in my hands. Wow, not even sure where to begin. Came here with a large party on a Thursday evening. Place was packed, but we had a room reserved upstairs, which was nice. This dinner was sponsored my a pharmaceutical company, for which a presentation was taking place. We had a set menu with about 6-7 appetizers, 3-4 entrees to choose from and 2-3 deserts. Everything was INCREDIBLY slow, nothing I've ever experienced. The dinner/presentation started at 6pm and the servers didn't take our entree order until 745pm. Didn't receive our entree until after 9pm. THREE hours after everyone was seated....not to mention- myself and multiple others got skipped over for multiple appetizers. I ended up having to take my entree and dessert home and sadly didn't enjoy either one. I ordered a short rib entree and cheesecake dessert- 0/10 recommend. First time here. There has been a lot of buzz about this place, and it turns out that it is well deserved. Everything about the evening was excellent. The hardest part about the experience was getting the reservation. I had tried several times, and ended up getting something on a Monday night. Got here around 6:00 and got seated right away. The dining area has seating for groups of 2-4, and couple of bar areas for eating or drinking. We got seated towards the rear, buy the sushi bar. The place was about half full. There are windows on the front and southside, so we had some good natural light. The noise level was decent and easy to have a conversation. Our server did a nice job of getting us settled in, waters and our drink order, a Tingha Beer and a "JFK to TKY" Cocktail The service throughout the entire evening was excellent. It seemed like everyone pitched in to make that work. Lots of attention to empty plates, napkins, etc. (thanks Joey and crew!). The menu is online (or hard copies are available). It was hard to order, so many things sounded good, and our server had some great recommendations. Every time something would come out of the kitchen, it looked amazing and we would be interested in that. We ended up getting the Pork Belly Bao Buns, Room Servicer Pad Thai, Kinnickinnic Crispy Shell, and Phuket Jor Pu. The service can be very quick (too quick sometimes), so we told our server to pace our orders, so we didn't feel rushed. Everything was wonderful. Plenty of interesting/inventive items, great flavors, perfect temperatures, and the portions were generous. It was hard to pick a favorite. The Pad Thai was especially good, and the two large/whole prawns on top were an extra treat (and had an exotic look). The Bao Buns were good (but I would have liked more fat, and less lean meat). The Kinnickinnic Crisp Shell (think Taco) were light, crispy and great flavors. The evening was so VERY good. They have really gone out their way to make everything unique and special. All the little touches including the special wet napkin, the exotic drinks, to the table lighting make this a very memorable experience. Went here for the first time and had the gyoza as a starter. They were so crunchy with their lattices still on. Mai had miso soup which she says is her favorite in town. We had the crispy nobu salmon and their beautiful lattices river prawn with fresh herb salad next and these were to die for. The salmon was crunchy, spicy, sweet and savory all at once and the river prawn was meaty and full and had perfect taste and seasoning. Last we shared a temaki set (basically little sushi tacos) and the pad Thai, which we ended up taking home as we were beyond full. Great service, cool ambience, and food that was amazing. So delicious and delicate. Then we shared Shishito Togarishi, which was very, very tasty! I had Drunken Noodles which were medium spicy and good! We got their royal dumplings as starters. They were good but were missing a sauce or something spicy but overall they were good. We got a pair of cocktails that were very tasty and looked amazing. For our mains we tried their mango roll and chicken drunken noodle - both were really good and packed a lot of flavor. Wow this is such a beautiful restaurant! The inside is so perfectly decorated to include soft wood paneling with a sloped ceiling and you truly feel transported to a different place! All the tables are very intimate with soft lighting. I would recommend having a reservation if you're planning to go. We ordered the fried egg rolls and chicken satay on buns. The egg rolls were tasty but the buns had such a flavorful sauce and the bread was perfectly toasted and seasoned. We also ordered the crab curry a drunken noodles. Both were incredible!! The ambience in Room Service was great! It's a super cool interior design and the lighting was perfect for a date night dinner. The prices were a bit steep for what we received, but it looked like the sushi wasn't too expensive so I think next time we might go that route. My entire family and I agreed that all the food was delicious along with the drinks. The only reason I'm giving it four stars is because we were initially asked to sit at a table where there was a clear large puddle in front of the table and we were expected to sit there until we asked to move somewhere else. I do wish there was a bit more variety on the cocktail menu (5 cocktails and 2 mocktails), especially when the food menu is so huge, but there is a long wine/sake list. Speaking of which, it's tricky to browse the food menu using the QR code/my phone. I have to do a lot of zooming & scrolling. If you intend for most customers to use their phones for the menu, then it should be more mobile-friendly. One can ask for a print menu, but it's not offered. Because the space is small and they're trying to run a successful business, the tables are also small and somewhat close together. This isn't terrible, but does mean there's a lot of shuffling to make room for all the food & drinks and such, and you're likely to overhear conversations nearby.
