I have been wanting to come since Mother's Day and life kept getting in the way but gosh I am so glad I got to come in to this wonderful place! First the people are so welcoming, friendly, helpful and just amazing - they deserve all the positive adjectives! We order drinks (my son commented on all the amazing milk tea flavors and I was excited gor my lychee ice tea!). The food though you could taste the fresh ingredients, the care the chef took in preparing it and the authentic flavors! It is a small place only 5 tables and a few people stopped by for take out but definitely stay up late (they open late in the evening after 9 pm) and come to this amazing place - you absolutely won't be disappointed and I can't wait to have leftovers for breakfast!

Roong Aroon is one of my favorite restaurants ever! They make the most amazing Thai food and the server, Da, always takes your order with the warmest smile. You can expect to wait a bit before your meal comes out, but every time it's so worth it. Every dish is so fresh, flavorful and tasty. I especially love their Pad Kee Mao, Basil Fried Rice, and their delicious Green Curry, all with tofu. I'd also recommend their Thai tea which hits the spot every time. There are different operation hours listed across online but after asking inside, I was told they open from 9 to 9:30ish! It's one of the only spots open so late and is such a hidden gem!

Thai Basil pad kra pow with chicken be full and be happy

This is one of the only places in Tampa that actually makes Thai hot. Most are Indonesian, Vietnamese, Laotian, Cambodian, Chinese, Malaysian, Burmese, or wannabe Thai Hot, but these are legit Thai people. Tip your hat to them for bringing Thai food to Tampa when everyone else is just pretending to be Thai. Thai basil presented as Thai hot is top notch!

It is a fake plant that shows the beauty of the place

The food was very delicious and the service and ambiance was amazing. I am from Orlando and the soup was Delicious and the place is beautiful.

We were out late, looking for a late night dinner. Found this place that was opened till 3 am. What Asian restaurant opens till 3 am? We went to check it out. We were not disappointed! Very friendly service! We ordered the rad-na (fry noodle in sauce with pork & veggies). It was very flavourful, apparently they make their own noodles. Noodles were very good, we very much enjoyed the dish. We also ordered the Minced pork omelette on rice. A simple dish packed with flavour, we polished off both dishes. The server was very good, kept checking on us to ask us how the food was. Apparently this is a family run restaurant. The parents used to be chef at a hotel in Thailand. Very worthwhile to check them out. We are coming back tomorrow for dinner again. It's that good! We loved the food, decor & its service.

    Bad service in action

Well my wife and I came in and there were two other couples eating, he came right over and ask did we want water and we said yes. Then an Indian family of 6 came in and he and his staff lost their mind!! 5 minutes went by they standing small talk and accommodated them and when I saw him attempt to serve them water, I got up and went over and ask"is my money green?, why did you neglect us" black folks". He said well they, and that's all he got out of his mouth before I told him how offensive that was to me and my wife. It's my first and last time here because he made me feel my blackness wasn't equal or appreciated in their restaurant. I've never called out race and service on yelp but this time it just vexed me to see it so clearly. You can improve my not favoring nationality in your restaurant, black people spend more dollars per capital than anyone, we tip generously also. Our just put the sign up, no blacks welcome.

Love this place! We come here all the time. It is the best late night spot in Land O Lakes and in Tampa, period! The food quality is superb. I love the pineapple fried rice, pad Thai, basil fried rice, and Panang curry. The flavors are phenomenal and the owners are super friendly. The absolute BEST late night spot.

Wonderful dish eggplant with basil and shrimp. Mild for me. It could be mild spicy, medium spicy or hot spicy.

Thai Cafe is our favorite late night place to eat in Land O' Lakes The owner "Da" takes care of you like family visiting in his "home". The food is custom created to order and incredibly tasty!!

Also on the Uber Eats, you can specify heat level, which on another of our usual Thai places, you can't. We ordered Crab Rangoon, Fried Tofu, Pad Thai combo meat medium heat and Panang curry tofu medium heat. The Crab rangoon was very good. Heavy on the scallion flavor and I liked the sauce a lot. The fried tofu had lost it's crispness due to travel time, but a quick refresh in the air fryer and it was great. I didn't care for the flavor of my husbands pad thai. It was not very peanutty and was missing a few layers of flavor. The Panang curry was watery and I didn't taste ANY peanut flavor. It was weak and made me sad. The tofu in it was generous and the brown rice was cooked perfectly. So, some hits, some misses. Still on the hunt for the right place I guess.

The noodles were dry, barely any sauce, no vegetables, and no Thai basil--just noodles tossed in what tasted like a generic sauce. Overall, it was the worst Thai food I've ever had. I would definitely recommend staying away if you're looking for real Thai cuisine.

Nothing fancy, but nice. As my wife is part Thai, we ordered some of our go to favorites. For drinks, we started with a Thai tea. I've had my fair share of Thai tea, and this one was good! So refreshing! For meals, we typically share a meal, but this time we couldn't decide between chicken pad Thai or beef Thai basil.. so we got BOTH! Portions were good! We ended up killin' the pad Thai, and saved the Thai basil for later. Pad Thai was very flavorful and the Thai basil had a nice kick. But we couldn't stop there! Whenever we see a menu with mango sticky rice, we just can't say no! We topped off our dinner with that! The mango sticky rice was so rich and delicious. One of the best I've ever had! I would come back just for that. Overall, this was an amazing meal, and we would definitely come back. Authentic, yummy, and good portions! What else can you ask for?!? Enjoy!

The place is very cute and has a nice ambience, with soft music playing and a cozy feeling. The staff even told us that the wood decorating the walks is Thai wood, imported from Thailand which is very cool! I got the Kee Mao (drunken noodles) with tofu and medium spice. Very nice flavor profile, the spice wasn't too spicy but was present and the texture of the food was good. Very good sized portion and excellent value. Even though we ordered off the dinner menu, it was a good price ($13 for tofu/vegetable/chicken/pork). Overall, I'd say this is a great Thai restaurant that warrants a return visit given the ambience, value of the meal and taste.

Our first visit was great -- we spent around $120, and he said the sushi was some of the best he's had in a long time. He liked it so much that a couple nights later, before he left town, he wanted it again. We even waited about 45 minutes in the parking lot for them to open (they open at 4:30 on certain weekdays) because he was craving the Spicy Conch roll that badly. For our second order, we got two Spicy Conch hand rolls, a spicy tuna roll, and a Lollipop roll. We live about 20 minutes away, and because our first experience was perfect, we didn't think to check the bag before driving home. When we got home, all of the hand rolls were spicy tuna -- none were the Spicy Conch rolls my dad specifically wanted. The receipts on the bag clearly showed the correct items, so I'm not sure how it left the kitchen wrong. Since my dad was leaving town and this was the one thing he really wanted, I called the restaurant. They offered to replace the two Spicy Conch hand rolls, which I appreciated. I originally said I'd pick them up another time, but I decided to make the 20‑minute drive back so he could enjoy them before he left. When I called to place the replacement order, I also added a Deep Sea roll -- his favorite from our first visit. What disappointed me was that when I arrived, they charged me for the Deep Sea roll. I'm not someone who expects free food, but considering the mistake, the clearly printed receipts, and the fact that I had to make a 40‑minute round trip twice, covering a $14 roll would've been a simple, classy gesture. Especially since they usually read totals over the phone, and this time they didn't -- which made me think they were taking care of it. I did hear the sushi chef say "tell them I'm sorry," which I genuinely appreciated. The food itself is very good, and that's why we went back. But based on this experience, if you're ordering takeout, definitely check your bag before leaving. The quality is there, but the way the mistake was handled didn't match the level of the food.
