I found it odd that this business had hours like that of a late night club, but hey, they have their reasons and it works for them. My only complaint is that I'm usually asleep when they open! But I finally stayed out late enough to stop in. I'm glad I did. Although it seems to only be run by 3 people, a server, a non speaking runner and someone cooking, service although slow, is attentive. It's a small space, with only about 6 tables, but it's clean. The food is delicious, flavorful authentic Thai cuisine. The portions are large enough for sharing so I recommend doing that so you can get a taste of more variety of entrees. It was late or early, depending on who you ask, when I ordered. This was an Uber Eats experience, not dine-in. The restaurant is open late-night via different delivery apps and it's dine-in availability varies. I have seen some speculation online as to why this is. I won't proffer an explanation because I do not know for sure. What I will say, is if it were open only on leap year, I would gladly accept it. Based only on a single order of Pad Thai, this restaurant earned an easy five-star review. The container was as heavy as a brick and packed with a very good Pad Thai. It was not too saucy--I hate when it's sloshing around--so this was a very welcome sight and taste. I am a spice lover and the medium was quite spicy. I have been wanting to come since Mother's Day and life kept getting in the way but gosh I am so glad I got to come in to this wonderful place! First the people are so welcoming, friendly, helpful and just amazing - they deserve all the positive adjectives! We order drinks (my son commented on all the amazing milk tea flavors and I was excited gor my lychee ice tea!). The food though you could taste the fresh ingredients, the care the chef took in preparing it and the authentic flavors! It is a small place only 5 tables and a few people stopped by for take out but definitely stay up late (they open late in the evening after 9 pm) and come to this amazing place - you absolutely won't be disappointed and I can't wait to have leftovers for breakfast! read more

I think this place has the best Thai food around. I just about tried everything on the menu. But, besides that, this places has the best late hours. It works perfect for people that get off of work late. When everything else is closed. This place opens. The prices are worth the great taste and portions that you get for the prices. Roong Aroon is one of my favorite restaurants ever! They make the most amazing Thai food and the server, Da, always takes your order with the warmest smile. You can expect to wait a bit before your meal comes out, but every time it's so worth it. Every dish is so fresh, flavorful and tasty. I especially love their Pad Kee Mao, Basil Fried Rice, and their delicious Green Curry, all with tofu. I'd also recommend their Thai tea which hits the spot every time. This is one of the only places in Tampa that actually makes Thai hot. Most are Indonesian, Vietnamese, Laotian, Cambodian, Chinese, Malaysian, Burmese, or wannabe Thai Hot, but these are legit Thai people. Really good authentic Thai food. We picked up a to go order of pad kee mao, which ended up being around $20 including tax. My first thought when we placed the order over the phone was that this was on the pricier side but once I had my first bite it was absolutely worth it. The dish was delicious. The noodles and vegetables were fresh and packed with flavor. They did not skimp on any of the ingredients, including our protein of choice (chicken). It also fed two people, so the serving is plentiful. The service was really good and the food was ready right on time. We went in the restaurant to pick up the food and the space is quite pleasant as well, their ambiance is very welcoming. Will definitely be adding this to my regular rotation. read more

The service is perfect. You could not ask for a more personable and attentive person to wait on you. My only issue is that the portions are a little smaller than the average, and that they go light on the veggies. We likes the egg rolls and feel one complimentary one with each meal might offset the cost. The taste is amazing to all of their dishes. We were out late, looking for a late night dinner. Found this place that was opened till 3 am. What Asian restaurant opens till 3 am? We went to check it out. We were not disappointed! Very friendly service! We ordered the rad-na (fry noodle in sauce with pork & veggies). It was very flavourful, apparently they make their own noodles. Noodles were very good, we very much enjoyed the dish. We also ordered the Minced pork omelette on rice. A simple dish packed with flavour, we polished off both dishes. The server was very good, kept checking on us to ask us how the food was. Apparently this is a family run restaurant. The parents used to be chef at a hotel in Thailand. Very worthwhile to check them out. We are coming back tomorrow for dinner again. It's that good! We loved the food, decor & its service. read more

Well my wife and I came in and there were two other couples eating, he came right over and ask did we want water and we said yes. Then an Indian family of 6 came in and he and his staff lost their mind!! 5 minutes went by they standing small talk and accommodated them and when I saw him attempt to serve them water, I got up and went over and ask"is my money green?, why did you neglect us" black folks". He said well they, and that's all he got out of his mouth before I told him how offensive that was to me and my wife. It's my first and last time here because he made me feel my blackness wasn't equal or appreciated in their restaurant. I've never called out race and service on yelp but this time it just vexed me to see it so clearly. You can improve my not favoring nationality in your restaurant, black people spend more dollars per capital than anyone, we tip generously also. This place opens late and stays open late. We had planned to come one week and the hours mysteriously changed from 8pm opening to 10pm. It was late as is at 8pm so we decided to try another day which we did. We arrived about 815pm and the place was crowded. All to go/take out orders. I said they must call at 759pm to place their order. We were the only ones dining in, it took a few to be served but we well were well acknowledged by the sole front staff. He was also personable and that I always love. We had chicken pot stickers, hubby had the basil fried rice and I had the prig khing. Hubby and I said mild heat, his was ok but mine was too spicy, couldn't enjoy it much. My hubby had made up his mind he liked the other Thai place we visited. The food is fresh and hot and obviously made to order. Ironically another to-go customer came in and complained about the last minute change to opening the week prior. Our server explained how the time it takes to prepare food and the space they have and sometimes they do not have items on the menu and prefer not to disappoint customers. Very genuine and transparent and I appreciate it! They also evidently have their loyal customer base because at no time did the place stay empty our time there with take out orders/pickups coming through. read more
