The storefront is unassuming, but don't let that fool you, inside is a fantastic spot with friendly, quick service and consistently excellent food. The prices are very fair, especially considering the generous portion sizes. I ordered the pineapple fried rice with chicken (10/10), the tom kha soup, and the mango sticky rice for dessert. Every dish was flavorful, fresh, and perfectly prepared. Whether you're looking for takeout or dining in, this place delivers. To be honest we were waiting for our table at Cali next door and then I got a random craving for Thai food. Looked up Thai on the map and saw one was 200 feet away. What a blessing! We stopped in for a quick lunch after running some errands in the area. We tried the chicken lettuce wraps and the fresh wraps. The Thai basil and the homemade peanut sauce were stand outs. On rotation in our house! Every couple of months, we get the itch for some Panang curry and Palm Thai is the best restaurant around! We love the sweet creamy yet spicy flavor of the Panang curry. It comes with a healthy serving of rice to soak up all the flavors. We always get chicken, but there's plenty of other protein options. In addition, the pad Thai is just so good!! This is not my first time at Palm Thai. I first went around Nov. 2022. I thought the food was just solid. I ordered red curry at the time. Fast forward to today. I ordered Khao Soi -which is apparently a North Thailand soup with egg noodles. It was a lot more flavorful than the previous food. While it seems to use a red curry base,it had cilantro, and cardamom with a richer taste than their "standard" red curry. The were bean sprouts and egg noodles with chicken pieces. 8/10 The dining space is very small-18 seats. The gentleman at the front was pretty good at managing dine in customers and an incessant stream of phone calls for take out. They have the usual Thai staples here like curries, pad Thai ,and drunken noodles. They also have different dishes like Khao Soi, Chu Chee duck. They also have different meat options like duck and soft shell crab which are generally unavailable compared to other Tampa Thai places. Prices are fair. They are similar to Bangkok Thai Jazz on Fowler. Parking is generally ample. Cons: Closed Sundays Not much ambience and small size In terms of ambience, Thai Ruby is better. In terms of value/taste, this is comparable to Bangkok Jazz on Fowler. I think that one is slightly better. read more

I've had a lot of Thai food in the Tampa area and Palm Thai is a cut above other restaurants in every way. My family and I went on a Tuesday night close to closing hour and every table was full. The owner, Ben, is from Bangkok and really takes good care of all his customers, takes time to engage and cares about the dining experience of every person who walks into his restaurant. My family ordered the Pad See Ew, Pad Woon Sen, Pineapple Fried Rice and Tom Kha Soup. The first thing we noticed was that Palm Thai is not afraid to be bold with their flavors, whereas other restaurants are often more mild. The noodles were perfectly cooked and chewy, each dish is huge and loaded with vegetables, we had a full meal of leftovers the next day. We also loved the garlicky, savoriness of each dish. Palm Thai was highly recommended by my friend and I was not disappointed! The khao soi chicken was so creamy and rich in flavor, and the red curry fried rice was bursting with spice! Those two dishes were my favorite. I'm always a fan of pad see ew noodles and combined with the beef, I enjoyed it very much. The mango sticky rice is really nice as well, it's not too sweet and it's a refreshing dessert to have. Ok. 2nd time to visit Palm Thai restaurant in the Tampa Palms area. Small and intimate setting, with about 10 tables. The place was half-full around 5:30pm. There was a lot of takeout delivery people dropping by to pick up food. We were greeted by a friendly waiter. I'm thinking he was the owner. His personality and behavior made us very comfortable and relaxed. Here comes the food! I ordered Pad Thai with chicken. My wife ordered Pineapple fried rice with pork. We just had water to drink. Trying to keep the calories down by not having soda or alcohol. The dishes were so plentiful and smelled so fragrant. And it tasted wonderful, especially the fried rice. The pad Thai was tasty but a bit too sweet for me. The sauce was a bit thick as well. Of course there was too much food so we asked for some take out boxes. Best Thai food in the Tampa Bay Area!! This is my go to spot. Located in Tampa palms about 25 mins without traffic but so worth the drive. Every single time I have gone there for dine in the food has never disappointed. Always comes out hot and fresh! All the flavor and you can even tell them the spice level you prefer. It's a small local spot but has all the hole in the wall feels! We are always greeted and treated so nicely. They do get super busy on the weekends and their take out is always booming. I ordered the iced Thai tea, the chicken satay, and the drunken noodles with shrimp. This was my first time trying the iced Thai tea. I'm so glad I ordered this! It was DELICIOUS. Based on my quick google search and taste test, It's a strong black tea (I think) mixed with spices such as tamarind and maybe cardamom and possibly some other spices, and it's combined with sugar and sweetened condensed milk. This is served on ice. I highly recommend ordering this. The chicken satay appetizer was AMAZING! Very well seasoned, perfectly cooked. The chicken was juicy! There were 2 dipping sauces. A vinegar based dipping sauce and a peanut sauce. I poured the vinegary dip on top of my chicken and I dipped it in the peanut sauce. I really wanted to order another chicken satay. Definitely a must try. This appetizer came with 6 chicken skewers. My main was the shrimp drunken noodles. I have never had drunken noodles before. I really enjoyed this dish. Very flavorful. The noodles were perfectly cooked, had a nice chew to them. There were plenty of fresh vegetables in my dish. I believe there were onions, bell peppers, carrots, and maybe green beans. It was all tossed in a Thai chili sauce. There were also plenty of shrimp in my dish. They were not stingy with this shrimp. My picture does not show fully how many shrimp were in this dish. I loved that they were a decent size. My only wish for this dish is that I wanted for it to be spicier. I enjoy heat to my dish. But that is my own personal preference. We ordered a few things to try a sampling of the extensive menu. The food for the most part was good. It arrived hot and look appetizing. We had the drunken noodles (very tasty), the pad thai (a tad too sweet), the spicy basil rice ( too wet) and the fresh rolls ( too much lettuce). We ordered all the dishes with shrimp. The shrimp were not cooked in the dishes but cooked separately. They were overcooked (tight as fist), tasteless and just thrown on top ( as if they were an after thought). This was a total turn off. RESTAURANT POSITIVES: it's not a chain; its menu is straightforward (user friendly); the prices are standard; the food quality is very good; & there are daily lunch specials. The dining room is small w/ approximately 8 tables, but it was clean. This is not a fancy restaurant; soup is presented in paper bowls & entrees on paper plates. The utensils are white plastic. This was visit #2 for me. The Pineapple Fried Rice w/ Pork was EXCELLENT. The Miso Soup was very good, as was the Red Curry Fried Tofu w/ a side of white rice. If you are looking for amazing Thai food... this is the place to go! Service was incredibly fast and very attentive. Lunch prices were not expensive and still a good amount of food. The curry was incredibly flavorful and I got the meat combo in my curry. Would probably stick to just beef next time, the chicken was a tad dry but the shrimp was great too. However, if you are looking for a nicer place.. this might not be the place for you! Food is served on paper plates (A+ for cleanliness I guess!) and you get charged $1.50 for water from a bottle with a plastic cup.
