On our last day here at beautiful Montana, we wanted to try this place as we are big fans of Guy Fieri. We didn't realize this place is right next to Feed Cafe which we had lunch on our first day in Montana. Check out my review for that place. Now onto this place, we got the whole chicken bucket which came with 8 piece chicken. We got 1/2 classic crispy and other half the sweet heat. Wow, it packed some heat for sure. The chicken to us was just alright. We felt if anything, they were a bit too fried and could have been more moist. As part of the combo, it came with bread, muffins, and 2 large sides. We got a collard green which was delicious while the fried okra was just meh. Too fried and lots of pieces we got were fried scraps. We expected more from this place given it was visited by Guy, but for today, will only give a 3 stars. Great customer service though. read more

We loved our lunch at Roost. Service was great. Friendly and professional, helpful staff. We had a classic chicken sandwich and a Nashville Hot chicken sandwich. Both were incredible. Bun was soft. chicken was perfectly fried, not greasy. Sauce was fantastic. French fries were great. The outdoor seating was lovely with plants and flowers and coverage from the sun. Lots of seating available. Easy parking. Highly recommend! We loved it so much, we went back on our way back to the airport after a week in Yellowstone. They clearly have a lot of local pride, and the restaurant is decked out in chicken-themed décor. There is not much seating (4 little tables, plus stool seating near the windows), but luckily it was not too busy. There is one restroom available, and it's very clean. = S E R V I C E = The girls manning the counter were very sweet, and masks stayed on the whole time. The cashier took a lot of time explaining the specials and recommending items to my friend and I, which we appreciated. The tabletops have signs that you can flip over to signal that they need to be sanitized. = F O O D = + 2 PC MEAL ($10.50): They let you choose which pieces you want! Awesome! I chose two thighs to maximize that juicy dark meat. The skin is perfectly crisp and flavorful. I chose Nashville Hot Sauce and Alabama White Sauce. Basically their patio is the area which you spend your time. They do have dining there currently but it was a very chilly night and did not seem comfortable. Some space heaters might have been night. But I do not know if the chill was early for the season and caught them off guard. Food - We ordered The Alabama, this was on the special menu board tonight. This also one of the items featured on the TV show. The pulled chicken meat and slaw where amazing, and the pickle had some nice crunch and a little zip. The bun was alright. The French fries where just there too. Service - I know we are in the COVID era but the line to order vs. pick up was not very clear, actually no formal structure was in place. After that was all figured out and in the proper line I order our food to go. No beer to go so nothing to drink. If I knew it was going to take so long I could have ordered a beer while I waited. I absolutely love their Triple D vibe! It's exciting that Montana has a delicious place like Roost. Their friend chicken is without a doubt some of the tastiest chicken you'll ever have! The dark meat is super tender & the breading was light & very well seasoned. Almost like a classier KFC. They offer several different ways to enjoy their chicken like boneless or in a sandwich. The Nashville Hot was surprisingly good. The chicken breast was tender & the spice was just right. The side of coleslaw added a nice balance to create a perfect bite of spicy chicken & slaw. I would recommend getting a side of the Nashville sauce for dipping. The chicken & waffle were HELLA good, & if you're looking for a smaller portion you can get the kids meal. It offers 1/2 a waffle & 1 medium size boneless chicken tender. Their honey walnut butter with the maple syrup is a delectable combination for the waffle. This is a standout dish IMO. Another side that turned out to be a winner is the Fried Okra. I'm not a huge fan of the seeds in the okra but we decided to try it. The breading was light & very well seasoned. It had the perfect amount of salt. A great pairing for this is their Lemonade. It was a little on the sweeter side but when paired with their spicy or saltier items, it proved to be a very refreshing balance. Their large jug is just $5 & served 5 people, including 3 very thirsty kiddos. I would highly suggest that they add strawberry Lemonade to their menu. That would be next level! Overall, Roost is a great place to stop for lunch. However, there is definitely room for improvement. The biscuits we're overcooked & bland, the Mac & cheese was also bland (the only part that offered any flavor was the green onion a bits of bacon) & a majority of the dishes we ordered were cold by the time they arrived to our table. Yummy fried chicken with awesome "comeback sauce" chicken was juicy and flavorful. Fries were fresh and great dipped in the sauce. The only downside was everything was very pricey. For the sandwich and the fried Mac and cheese it was around $29. I got a sweet tea as well and they give you a cup with ice to get it yourself. The ice melted quickly due to the tea being warm and when I went for a refill I had no ice at all left and ended up with just a hot cup of tea. Stopped in for the first time yesterday. Long wait but I guess they make the chicken to order. Outstanding collard greens flavor though my tiny side had half liquid in (see photo). Ordered an 8 piece meal ahead of time on the way back from a full day on the river while visiting Bozeman. We are a family of 5 with 2 teens. At first we were shocked at how small a "large" side was. There is no way a large side would feed an average family ordering an 8 piece meal. It's shockingly small. As for the chicken, it was cooked thoroughly, very crispy, but very under seasoned. Skin crispy, chicken is moist AND it's all seasoned. Wasn't too greasy. We ordered the 1/2 chicken basket with 2 small sides. The cheesy grits were creamy, fried okra crispy/salty, collard greens decent and fries were crispy but we added salt. We tried the Nashville hot chicken on a stick, it's messy. Very good chicken, great sides and special sides, tasty tea, and exceptional service. I particularly like how they dice the stalks in their greens where I typically "debone" mine because you have to have very fresh greens to do that! On our second visit, the owner- Joe noticed our strips were a little overcooked. He asked if he could get us new strips or refund our money. Even though we said that was not necessary, he sent us home with to-go bags of our same order cooked to his specs. While they both tasted great, he was right. We tried one in the car and it was better.
