A very friendly lady greeted me upon entering and helped me with my order. Her enthusiasm matched the bright interior of the shop! Oreo Creme Brulee Boba: 4/5, really yummy! Not a blended drink, just FYI. It's a sweetened milk drink with a pudding-like creme brulee, decently-textured boba, and finely crumbled oreo. I had to stop myself from chugging it. Jasmine Green Milk Tea: 2/5. As much as I wanted to like this, I can't say that I enjoyed this on its own :[ I've never tasted a jasmine MT like this before, but it was bland and kinda funky? I took a couple of sips and then thought it would taste better mixed with my other drink that was still pretty sweet haha. Parking was difficult around 5PM on a weekday. I understand it's not the store's fault, but now I know when NOT to go to this plaza with a tiny lot at the corner of a busy Costa Mesa intersection. I'd still like to come back and try some other drinks, though! read more

Stopped while on a day trip in Orange County, really neat little spot. Tucked in a small shopping center, a really clean and modern maximizing every square inch of a tiny space. Super friendly, very quick turnaround. What really turns a boba place from good to great for me is alternative milk options, and this place has the best one- oat milk. I had a taro milk tea with oat milk, which was sweet and mild, not too overpowering. read more

We came here during opening week and got the amazing bogo deal. The store is very well lit up and has cute interiors. The employees and owner are also super sweet, I think it's because it just opened but everyone was just excited to take and make our orders. The drinks themselves were quite good! Only recommendation I have is to add more cream / milk in the strawberry smoothie because it tasted more like a slush than a smoothie. read more

Sub par fruit tea, other places have way better menu selection and options. Here, you can basically just "build your own" with limited flavors and no fruit pieces added to the tea. I got a small instead of the large that was paid for and adjusted the sweetness level way up without asking so the drink was also really sweet. read more

I had a good visit. Parking was not too terrible for noon thankfully. I got a Rooroo milk tea with coffee jelly and I was pretty impressed with the taste and strength of the drink! I appreciate the server's suggestion of the coffee jelly addition. read more

My friends and I recently stumbled upon this place by accident, but its quickly become one of my favorite boba spots in SoCal! We had originally planned a beach day, only to discover the weather had turned cloudy by the time we arrived. But when you're with your friends, setbacks like that only make the journey more interesting. After driving around for a little we stumbled upon Rooster Tea, and thought we'd give it a try. Upon entering, I was immediately struck by how nice the place looked. We came about 45 minutes before closing, and since there was nobody else in the store, we were able to appreciate just how modern and polished it was. I ordered the Oreo Boba Creme Brulee, and as someone with an admittedly strong sweet tooth, it was easily one of my favorite drinks of all time. If you enjoy sweeter drinks, I would definitely consider it a must-try :) My friends both got the Oat Milk Mango Matcha, and they also really enjoyed them. Their drinks weren't nearly as sweet as mine was, which worked out perfectly since they usually opt for reduced sweetness anyway. While we didn't get to go to the beach, exploring SoCal with my friends turned out to be a lot of fun. Plus, it led me right to a new boba spot! If you're in the area, I would definitely give it a try! read more

Of course, I had to check out a boba shop after lunch while in OC on a local staycation. Celebratory boba is a no brainer! Lychee Green Tea with Agar Boba (50% sweet and less ice) Good flavor and the sweetness was just right. The agar boba doesn't have flavor so it was a good balance overall and gave texture to every sip. Horchata Milk Tea (50% sweet) The flavor was spot on. Neither the horchata or the cinnamon flavor was overpowering or too sweet like some other places. The boba was chewy. SERVICE Very friendly staff and helpful when ordering. PARKING There is a plaza parking lot with plenty of spaces. I have already spread the word to my girlfriends who live in OC! When I'm back in the area, I'd support Rooster Tea again! read more

Decided to try a new place for my staff at work because I like to get boba at least once a week for the staff just to say hey we made it through the week. Ordering was easy, I just ordered online and you can adjust the sweetness and add the toppings they offer. Only bad thing was it shares a parking lot with other really popular businesses and Rooster tea doesn't open until 12pm so I had to be there after noon which is the worst time to be there with the small parking lot. The drinks were ready and they even labeled the drinks with the name which I really appreciated because some places don't do that. The employees were super nice and they also offered a stamp card which is awesome. So the only bad thing was that the drinks were so small. It was pricey and the drink size was just way too small. I'd come back again but not for work because I didn't get much of a lunch break and the size was too small. read more

It was a hot day when we came in to try their slushies but honestly the taste of it was kinda generic/processed tasting. Would've loved to see/taste strawberries and the other was lychee instead of artificial syrup with specs of fresh/dried up fruit in there. Very cute and artsy boba shop! The inside is super clean and the staff are very friendly! They have a variety of teas and milk teas. The quality is great, the green tea is pretty strong so if you're sensitive, be careful drinking it late afternoon! I would definitely come again for milk tea, boba, and fruit tea! read more

Came here to satisfy fruit tea craving and it was just average. The shop itself is cute, had a good amount of people, and the staff was nice. We tried the strawberry green tea and lychee green tea. Strawberry was not as sweet as other places and didn't have the strawberry taste I was looking forward to. It had a more tart flavor if that is the flavor you are looking for. Lychee... needs A LOT more lychee flavor. Maybe it's because I adjust to 75% sugar, but I didn't expect the flavor to get wiped out. Five dollars worth of ice Not the best value as far as Boba places go. The young man at the register would not adjust the ice even when I told them I had teeth sensitivity to cold. I was willing to pay extra for no ice, but the young man said "the ice cannot be adjusted, store policy." Seems a bit ridiculous, but I guess the Ice Police won the day the wife still got her regular Jasmine, which she said was just ok but it was u guessed it... mainly ice. Do yourself a favor and patronize one of the other many excellent Boba places in the area. read more

UPDATE: the manager was kind and apologized as she messaged me and explained the white thing that gave an extra bite to the egg pudding. "Staff was supposed to let it cool and then skim off the top layer (the white layer that you see and it have more of a bite to it)." I came in today after all my errands and it happened to be at around 8:45pm ish. A little bit earlier than last time I guess HAHA. There was a decent amount of people that came in after me as well! Okay! Straight into the boba! We both ordered the Mango Blitz with golden boba and the Taro Blitz with golden boba and egg pudding. The Taro Blitz (Taro Slushy w/ Cheese Foam) wasn't too strong and overpowering! I ordered mine without the Cheese Foam so it was just the Taro Slushy by itself. They apparently don't make it as a smoothie (where they put dairy in it besides the cheese foam) but you can ask them to if you want! I like both smoothie and slushy! This one is good! It's not too heavy from the dairy and fat from the milk. It's nice and light while still retaining the taro flavor! I like it! The egg pudding was definitely delicious and a huuuuuuge improvement. It has that nice light subtle sweetness to it! And it was just perfect texture and taste! I'd have to say the golden boba was decent! Everyone has different preferences! Some like their boba still having that chewiness to it, while some like it soft! For my personal preference, I like it soft and sweet. Like subtle sweet is fine too. So personally, I wish it would be slightly softer and maybe a tad bit sweeter. But that's just me HAHA. So besides that, this boba has a chewyness to it which is still good for those of you who don't like your boba too soft! It was still a good texture! It had a slight very subtle sweetness to it and kind of had a "clean" taste to it. Reminds me of Ding Tea's boba!! The Mango Blitz is mango slushy with cheese foam. I actually tried this drink with the cheese foam and the cashier was right! It's really subtle, I'm not even sure what to describe it as HAHA (which is good because I don't really like cheese foam) But the mango drink was good! It tastes like those big greenish reddish mangos! It doesn't taste too artificial! Definitely give them a try and explore their style! Thank you! read more

I live across the street and I am a boba junkie, so I was so happy to see that Rooster Tea House opened. I have been there twice since they opened a week ago. The quality of their product is fantastic. I ordered the Thai tea on my first visit, and loved it. I have tried Thai tea at most local boba shops and Rooster Tea House's Thai tea ranks at the top since you can taste the tea, at many other places it just tastes like sugar. On my second visit, I tried the taro coconut tea, which was an interesting mix. I saw that they also have a taro coconut coffee on the menu as well for people who prefer coffee to tea. They have fantastic promotions since opening -- the first few days, they offered 30% off, and now for 4th of July weekend, they are offering buy 1 get one for $1, so be sure to stop by with a friend this weekend! read more

Strawberry.. oddly tart? I was expecting the drink to be on the sweeter side like most places but this had an odd tart flavoring. Lychee.. tasted a lot better than the strawberry but needed a lot more lychee flavor in it. Rather than lychee green tea-- it felt like green tea with lychee flavoring. Drinks are a bit too sweet even with less sugar. The dragonfruit green tea sweetness level can't be adjusted but it was a borderline shock to the taste buds. They said the drink doesn't have sugar added but red dragonfruit isn't usually as sweet as white or yellow though... so not sure. Ice levels can't be adjusted. Their cup lids aren't to-go friendly as there's no place for the straw except the wide mouth opening. read more

Service was nice and fast. Person at register was very nice. Their strawberry matcha is horrible though. For $7 before tip you would think it would taste delicious, but half the cup is filled with an artificial strawberry syrup and when you mix that with your fake matcha it definitely tastes horrible waste of my money and my drink ended up in the trash. Rip I'm sure their other drinks taste better than this one!! read more

Solid boba, but nothing special. The milk tea was better than the fruit tea, I think. Drinks came out quickly, and there was space to enjoy them in the store, but we took them to go. The 'bobaristas' (boba barista, right? ‍) was super sweet, and helped us order by explaining what was recommended on the menu, and letting us know what some of the drink flavors were. We ended up getting the tiger sweet milk boba and the taro slush. Both of which were really good! The tiger sweet milk boba is similar to the brown sugar milk tea boba but is non-caffeinated. It has brown sugar syrup drizzled on the sides. As my first time trying it, I enjoyed it! It's quiet and clean inside, and they offer two seater high tops that are against the walls for seating. There was no wait, and our drinks came out quickly. Would definitely recommend coming here. read more

Was visiting balboa and had a boba crave. This place looked interesting so I gave it a shot. I got the tiger sugar milk which was pretty good wasn't overly sweet like other places. I also got the crème brûlée milk tea which was AMAZING since I like sweet and creamy things. Interior is also super hipster and cute! Yeahh finally a good boba place amid all the coffee shops in the area so we got a couple things to try. Luckily we saw their soft opening deal so a fortuitous day it was. We got the Rooroo and taro milk tea (was recommended), Oreo creme brûlée, matcha blitz, and strawberry and passionfruit green tea. You can tell they use high quality ingredients not cheap powder stuff where it taste just like a cup of sugar water. Rooroo milk tea was awesome. Apparently it's a coffee like tea and you can definitely taste it. Highly recommend. Unfortunately they don't have the standard black boba but their golden boba was great. Not too sweet or overcooked and soggy like some places. It have the QQ texture and bounce, similar to Ding tea. I was told the Taro milk tea was nice and creamy and 75% sweet was perfect. They put cheese foam in their matcha blitz and it compliments the matcha very well!! Strawberry and passionfruit green tea we got at zero additional sweet per their recommendation and it turned out perfectly. Stopped by for a quick boba fix after seeing some good reviews. The menu has a solid variety of milk teas, slushies, smoothies, and even alternative milk options, which is nice. I got a green tea, some slushies for the kids, and a mango smoothie with oat milk. The drinks were decent, nothing mind-blowing, but good for a basic boba spot. Service was friendly and quick, and I appreciated that the staff kept me updated on my order. The tiger boba tea was probably the best thing I tried, definitely recommend that one. So excited this place opened up! I live and work in the area so stopping by here for tea is convenient and tasty. So far I've tried the taro milk tea (awesome), the brown sugar milk tea (this one was just okay, couldn't taste the brown sugar much but the tea was good), and the RooRoo milk tea with the creme brulee topping (also awesome!!). All the employees are incredibly sweet and do their jobs well despite still being in training, and their manager is personable and kind as well. I don't frequent this location as often as the one in Yorba Linda due to distance but whenever I take the kids to the beach, we always stop by here for our boba run. Staff is friendly and drinks are delicious, highly recommend the Rooroo milk tea with boba or lychee jelly and the Jasmine green milk tea with oat milk. ++stamp card work at both locations read more

The location is right off the freeway so super convenient. It's cute and pink so can't miss it, but really small. We went through the drive through. There is also a walk-up counter to order from, however, not too many parking spots or seating area. Pretty much a grab and go spot. I will definitely be stopping by here when I'm in Costa Mesa.

I had the iced coffee with Ube and it SLAPPED! Given the festival environment, the drink was a perfect pick me up after a day of walking and standing all day. Lauren was the sweetest and friendliest and I look forward to bumping into this popup again someday.

I was staying at a hotel across the street for a few days and went looking for a good coffee shop…read moreon this side of town. I actually tried another nearby place first, only to discover it was closed for renovations--and I am SO glad it was, because otherwise I might never have found Long Black. I ended up coming here three times. No regrets. My first visit, I ordered the Biscoff cookie coffee and a spam, egg & cheese croissant. The coffee was delicious and, surprisingly, not overly sweet at all. You could still really taste the quality of the coffee underneath the flavor. And the spam, egg & cheese croissant? LIFE-CHANGING. Seriously. The next day I came back and tried their popular hazelnut Einspänner. I was not prepared for how thick the cream layer on top would be at first, but I let it sit for a bit while I drove to the office and allowed the cream to melt into the coffee a little. AMAZING. I love hazelnut, and this was so good. Naturally, I had to come back one more time before leaving and tried the banana cloud coffee. Again: fantastic. What impressed me most across all three drinks was the balance. Their flavored coffees aren't "sugar with some coffee." You taste the COFFEE first, then the rich cream and flavor, and then just enough sweetness. That's really hard to do well, and they absolutely nail it. I also tried an almond croissant, which was very good--and I say that as an almond-croissant heat-seeking missile who will find every great almond croissant within striking distance. They told me they bake their pastries in-house that morning, and you can tell. I eventually brought my sister with me, and she loved it too, including her regular croissant. Beyond the food and drinks, I loved watching the staff work. Everyone seemed genuinely dedicated to what they were doing and to the craft of making really good coffee. I came here because another coffee shop was closed. I came back twice because Long Black was THAT good. This will absolutely be my coffee stop anytime I'm on this side of town again.

There's plenty of parking next door, and while there is no seating outside, there's plenty indoors. It's a really minimal shop, but they have some cool furniture if you want to hang out and play some board games. Service was friendly and fast, especially since the line never let up the entire time I was there. On the food & drinks front, I ordered a ham/cheese/jalapeño croissant, an almond croissant, the Pistachio Cream Latte (w/ almond milk), the Maple Pumpkin Pie Latte (w/ oat milk), and the Orange Bourbon Cardamom latte (w/ oat milk). Everything was great, I especially enjoyed the ham/cheese croissant m, OBC latte (the orange and cardamom really stand out in this and compliment each other well), and the Pistachio Cream latte (if you like pistachio ice cream you'll love this). Their seasonal MPP latte was good, but I didn't get as much pumpkin in it as I would've liked (still a good drink). This is a great coffee shop that makes unique drinks that I really enjoyed. I definitely plan to come back to try some of their other drinks, and would recommend paying them a visit if you're in the area.
