shrimp burger with coleslaw and mashed sweet potatoes
    Lauren S.

This was our first time visiting this local favorite spot. Something I noticed right away was the booths were a bit worn and I quickly sunk into the seat. Our waitress was very animated and attentive. We tried the hush puppies which were very bland. For entrees we got a shrimp burger which was tasty but not much shrimp on a big bun. The mashed sweet potato was not something I'd order again but the slaw was tasty. And blackened snapper with seasonal veg and red potatoes.

Swordfish with green beans and side of shrimp

This is a solid seafood place with very reasonable drink prices. My NA Chardonnay was only $4! Our server Chantell was amazing and not just because she complimented how nicely I cleaned off the oysters Rockafelllers! She was very attentive and friendly with our table. And she did very well with our custom orders. The food is decent. I split a swordfish blackened with my husband, and we also had green beans and a side of grilled ahrimp to go with my salad. The shrimp didn't taste as grilled as I was hoping, and was more buttery. But the swordfish was nice and flavorful. I also sampled some of my other guests entrees and they were tasty as well. My favorite was the cedar plank salmon which in hindsight I wish I would have gotten, but I'll know that for next time. I would recommend this place, especially if you're in the mood for some inexpensive drinks. Unfortunately I'm not much of a drinker, but it's good to see us NA folks don't get left behind.

    Great atmosphere.

Our server Chantel took great care of us. Party of 5. 2 Lobster rolls 2 Scallop dishes 1 Grilled Grouper 1 Peel and eat shrimp We had a lovely back round table away from the noise of the restaurant which allowed our hearing impaired folks to enjoy conversations! The food- Overall we went with 4 stars The highlights were the Grilled Grouper was cooked perfectly and the grilled asparagus was nice and crispy not overcooked, the peel and eat shrimp was also very good however I did not taste the bay seasoning that was mentioned. Our entire party are New England transplants so the Lobster rolls are something we are as a rule particular about, we look for light mayo, almost non existent a grilled and buttered roll and a nice serving size. These were very heavy on the mayo, and a pretty small portion size, and it had lettuce and celery...Theroll was grilled nice and the flavor was on point however. Both scallop dishes were drowned in the butter sauce which was excessive and ended up being a detractor to the dish, more isn't always better, both of those agreed it was good enough to return but would try another menu item next visit. We had a good time, the service we received from Chantel was great we will return and I would rate this a "Safe Bet" prices are reasonable and the food is pretty good!

It was PACKED when we showed up (on a Thursday around 6pm). 99% of the customers were senior citizens so I was a bit concerned. However, the food was out of this world!! We waited about 30 minutes for our table and it was worth it. The lobster roll, coco lada shrimp, crab legs and island shrimp were all 10/10. Our waitress was Chantell and she was an absolute dream.

Oh my goodness! This past Wenesday my mother and I had the stuffed Lobster!!! So good!!! The serverer was on point!

I LOVE the fried coconut-crusted tilapia with the fantastic cranberry-horseradish sauce on the side. My new favorite. Sweet potato mash is delicious. Steamed green beans perfect, and I appreciate my server telling me I can request it without the added garlic butter.

Clockwise from top right - fish & Shrimp, hush puppies, Seafood Pasta Bowl, and Ipswich Clam Strips

I came in party of 3 no reservations and they accommodated us telling me that we had until a certain time ( 1hour 30 mins) that's about how long we usually take so we said yes. Of course we came for the early bird special and got x2 short ribs and steak. Worth it in every way! The steak was cooked to perfection and very flavorful and soft. The Mac and cheese tasted like truffle and was gooey. We prefer a bit but it was delicious regardless. The short rib is so soft and flavorful. We ordered a Caesar salad with it which is also very good for being a simple dish. If I haven't drawn you in by now, you will be missing out. One of the best in the bay for sure

Both steaks were rare even though one was ordered medium rare. Both steaks were tough and contained way more "gristle" than a quality Delmonico ribeye should contain. We both had to saw on those steaks like carpenters! Service: No steak knives provided - we had to request them. Slow on beverage refills. Ambiance: Nice booth; beautiful interior. Kids and babies in attendance at other tables; but I am very OK with that - I love kids and babies! I have eaten here before and was served steaks that were of incredible Prime quality. So, please note that I am not a hater. Just very surprised! This is a lovely restaurant with a great Chef - you should eat here and judge for yourself.

Great vibe and ambience inside we sat upstairs, which had live music. Let me start by saying our server, which was a young gentleman was outstanding definitely knew how to provide great service be entertaining, be energetic, and made our evening that much better. The food was excellent Three of us started with a Caesar salad and I had their lump crab martini. The salads were excellent and my lump crab meat was absolutely delicious and so fresh and they pack a good amount inside the martini glass when it's served For dinner, I had the prime rib. My wife had the pistachio, crusted grouper, and my in-laws had the cedar plank, salmon, and shrimp risotto. Every dish was spot on delicious and they give an excellent portion. The pricing for the amount and quality the food was spot on. Not overpriced and I don't mind paying a little extra for a really good meal. Definitely planning a return visit and if you haven't been, you should really try this restaurant.

Upon arriving, the parking lot was completely packed, with some guests even parking along the side streets. Thankfully, valet parking was complimentary, which made things much easier. Even with how busy it was, we only waited about 5 minutes before being seated. Once inside, I realized the restaurant is much larger than it initially appears from the outside. One detail that really stood out was the attentiveness of the host staff. Two of my friends were dressed in darker outfits, and the host kindly swapped their white napkins for black ones to better match their clothing. That level of attention to detail was genuinely impressive. Since it was Tuesday, they were running a special on the 38oz tomahawk bone in ribeye, normally $138 but discounted to $108, so naturally that became the centerpiece of the table. We also ordered the wagyu carpaccio, thick cut bacon strips, calamari, and bread service to start. The bread was definitely worthwhile with a nice whipped butter and seasoned olive oil. The bacon was thick with a heavy peppercorn crust and a sweet honey spice flavor that balanced it nicely. The calamari was lightly breaded with smaller pieces, but still enjoyable. Their wine list is presented on a tablet and is absolutely massive. While the selection is impressive, navigating through it can feel a bit clunky and time consuming, especially when trying to narrow something down within a certain price range. Ultimately, the tomahawk steak was the main event. We ordered it medium rare, and to their credit, it was cooked correctly. Unfortunately, it came out a bit lackluster and only lukewarm. We found ourselves adding salt and pepper for extra flavor, and with the air conditioning blasting throughout the dining room, the steak became cold surprisingly fast. There were also several chewy tendon like sections throughout the steak, which took away from the experience even more. While the portion size was solid and the cook temperature was right, it was disappointing that such an expensive steak did not arrive hotter and more refined overall. Overall, I would still consider giving Bascom's another shot because the service and atmosphere were very good. However, if the steak experience falls short again, I will probably stick with places like Bern's or Charley's when I am craving a proper steakhouse dinner.
