The fried pickles were so good and pretty sure they were homemade. Came out fresh. The special for the day was sauerkraut and smoked sausage and it was great. The pinto beans were different than we're used to, but still pretty good. They were out of Texas toast for the ham and cheese sandwich, but it was still tasty and the fries were cooked extra crispy like I asked. The staff was great too! Nope. Pass. We walked in for breakfast and got the "you're not from around here" stare. Which is fine, that doesn't bother me. What DOES bother me is that we were totally ignored from the waitstaff. Walked by us multiple times before we had to stop someone and ask for menus. (This was after we asked if we sat ourselves when we first walked in, so they saw us and knew we were there). The place was only half full (or half empty, depending on your perspective). I got a loaded omelet, which was delicious. Hubs got the country fried steak, which he said was ok. When he ordered, he asked for hashbrowns with cheese and onions. What came out, was nothing close to hashbrowns. When we asked, she said they only had one kind of breakfast potato. Why wouldn't you tell us that when he ordered? Everything other than my omelet was barely even warm. My omelet was great and huge, so I shared. Super cheap, but again, sat forever with empty plates and no bill. We finally just ended up figuring out what the cost of everything was and leaving cash on the table. I was a server for years. Small clean cafe located off the main town road, worthy of a visit. Tenderloin is the size of a frisbee! No lie, biggest ever tenderloin. The soup of the day was homemade potato and was in a very thin milky broth. The soup came with a ham salad sandwich, the ham salad was mini strips of ham and lots of eggs, lots of mayonnaise. The soup and sandwich were different, but tasty. Chef salad was fresh, waitress asked what one meat I wanted on it, went with ham and the thousand island dressing was good, they have no homemade dressings. The sweet tea is extra sweet and delicious. They do make a extra filling homemade biscuit and gravy. Breakfast options look good, will try next visit. read more

My husband and I eat there frequently. The food is always hot and delicious and the service is comfortable. Word to the wise, if you go for breakfast on a Saturday morning, plan to be there a minute. Folks from all around come to eat here because of the good old-fashioned homemade meals and the relaxed atmosphere. You can seat yourself if you can find one and if not, there's a place to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful country side and likely visit with a stranger soon-to-be friend. The other weekend when we were there on a Saturday, there was only one server and the owner's husband hopped in to help her clean tables. He stopped by and asked how we were doing and was a pleasant and friendly man and we appreciated the chat. Lastly, if you leave here hungry, you're not doing something right as the portions are as generous as they are delicious. I Had always wanted to go there, but will probably be our last. I was ordering for a child, I said an omelette , (on the kids menu it said cheese omelette) the waitress rolled her eyes and annoyed you could tell said what kind of omelette. You walk in and it's one big open room with about 15 tables. Extremely laid back and the funny part is there are tennis balls on the ends of all the chair legs. Service was with a smile. My husband tried the "cooks preference", it was a platter with ham, bacon, sausage, sliced tomatoes, home fries, toast and fried apples all for a minimal price that delivered huge on flavor! The second time we had the daily special: 2 pieces fried chicken with two sides and bread. Chicken was hot, juicy, tender yet properly cooked!
