I forgot why I never came back after my first visit. Unfortunately, I returned and remembered. The place literally stinks; maybe from all the old wood and a whole lot of old LP's in a display case. Service is very slow since they fry the chicken to order. General menu items are designed for several people; not single person orders. Because of the loud thump thump music over and over in the ear, it's probably not for anyone over 35. I would think that would limit revenue. "I want to yell from a rooftop how good that food was." - something I said as I entered my car after eating at Roosterspin. Went here on a Saturday night. Started with a bottle of Chardonnay (they serve wine, but everything else seemed BYOB) and some steamed buns, which were delicious. Followed by the famous double fried chicken wings (half and half is definitely the way to go - the sweet balances out the spicy) and some pork fried brown rice. The food was amazing, and there were so many other things on the menu that I can't wait to try. The one downside is that the tables are very close together to the point it seems very crowded, however the restaurant is always packed so it allows for more customers. Excellent food! Real neat ambiance and great vibe! Went here for lunch I had. Sweet potato noodle with mushrooms and beef! The taste was excellent. Fresh. Made to order. My husband got the mini burgers which were excellent. He also got the fried chicken. Which was a lil to greasy for my liking but my husband loved them. I gave three stars for originality, ambiance, and overall experience. The decor is amazing! It is BYOB which is great, many took advantage of that. I would suggest bringing your own beverages because their non alcoholic choices were not good at all. We arrived on a Friday at 7pm and there were only a few people there by 8 there was live music and it started to get busy with the dinner crowd which was good. There are single stall bathrooms one for female one for male. Small place with alot of character. Food/Drinks- this is the reason I gave 3 stars...My husband ordered the short rib he thought the portion was too small for $15 and it wasn't very tasty. I ordered the sweet potato noodles with beef and I too thought it was just ok. No great flavor and half of it was cold. We noticed everyone ordered either fried rice or the fried chicken which they claim to be famous for it looked appetizing but we were going for more of a Korean flair which they fell flat. We also tried the buns which were better but a $12 order gives three which wasn't enough and there was barely any filling! Our server was courteous and nice, the entire staff was actually very accommodating and we absolutely adored the restaurant but the food was a thumbs down in my opinion. We brought a bottle of wine for their BYOB sangria which was delicious, strong, and easily served everyone. We ordered a bunch of dishes to share; notable ones were the tempura cheese curds and the double fried chicken. My boyfriend really loved how crispy the fried chicken was!! One of my favorite places around. Love the NYC vibe inside and all of the old-school music decor. They often have someone playing acoustic covers and the servers are always super personable. It's a great place to order a bunch of plates the share. Love the sushi rolls and fried rice! I hosted a surprise birthday party for my husband here, as well, and they were wonderful to work with. We rented out the larger karaoke room and the lounge area and had an amazing time. The manager and hostess helped me devise a plan to lead my hubby into the back room for the surprise and the service all night was beyond what I could have asked for. The waitress gave false/misleading information about when the food would be ready. After about an hour and fifteen minutes later, our chicken finally came out, but the fried rice still wasn't ready which we cancelled. Went there with a friend on a Friday evening. The interior was decorated really nicely, and the server was really helpful and sweet. There was lovely lighting and the furnishings complemented the style of menu perfectly. It was a little loud, though, with the music. My only (tiny) complaint is that is was hard to hear my friend over the level of music The double fried chicken is incredible! The outer part is very crispy, not like flour crispy, but skin crispy. When you bite into it, you can clearly feel the crunch. I couldn't help but pick off the crispy bits off till there was absolutely not a single bit left. There was no greasy batter, but rather a perfectly crispy, dried chicken wing/drumstick. We got the half & half, and just a warning: the spicy soy is actually really spicy! And this is coming from someone who loves spicy food. Even I felt the heat. Be weary. The sauces overall were perfect with the chicken. The large plate was perfect for 2 people, as we had ordered the cheese curds to pick at as well. We also ordered the red sangria pitcher for two people. It was good sangria! But it was pretty pricey considering the quantity that came with it. However the spices went well with the wine, and we enjoyed it. Good food albeit overpriced for small portions, terrible service. Came here on a Friday at 6 pm without a reservation, the place was mostly empty but they sat us at a high-top because apparently most of the tables were reserved. Most of the restaurant wasn't seated until an hour after we arrived. We easily could have sat at a regular table if the service was decent. We got our drinks thirty minutes after the waiter took our order. The waiter never wrote down our order, came back literally three times to ask what we got as an appetizer and four times to ask what our main dish was after trying to give us our check twice before we had gotten our food. We ended up waiting just under an hour and a half for our main dishes. The waiter only apologized once at the end of the meal and didn't offer to comp anything. As for the food: the wings had a great texture but the sauce wasn't particularly flavorful, I'd order them again with extra sauce. The grilled edamame was disgusting, completely blackened. Felt like sifting through ash with my tongue. The seafood yaki udon was very good but the portion was small. I would probably order delivery from here in the future but I'll never go back to sit down. What a waste of time. read more

We went to Roosterspin for the karaoke to celebrate a birthday. The concept was great but the technology needs to be updated. The book of songs was ridiculous to find songs/artists, besides being dirty and used and the manner of inputting was tedious for 2023. our server was being trained and although he was nice, we had to ask twice for glasses as well as boxes for our food. Yet they want to charge you extra if you are in the room beyond your 2 hours. He also accepted a very very generous cash tip (over 20 percent, no liquor served) And then proceeded to add 20 percent on our bill, lying to us And stating that they told us when we arrived that it would be added. That definitely was not stated. A very Expensive night for chicken wings And French fries And supporting a business that teaches their employees to cheat the customer. They tried to lie about the kitchen being closed. Granted I did walk in an hour to their close time but that doesn't make an excuse for lying about the "closed kitchen". I then said "oh really, what time does the kitchen close", which the staff huddled up to make an answer and say the best they can do at that time is only serve wings and fries. I really like Roosterspin. It's Korean inspired in a sense but not your traditional Korean restaurants in style and cuisine in case you were expecting that. The main dish is Korean fried chicken and they make it well. If you are familiar with BonChon Chicken, its basically the same thing. It's not the same as your KFC or Popeyes. It's delicious! Most of the dishes are like tapas and can be something more "traditional" like japchae which is a noodle dish or something more modern like bulgogi (Korean BBQ dish) sliders. The decor is very modern, glass and metal, has as a intimate jazz feel. They also opened up a "karaoke" room service (norebang) a couple of years ago. Lots of fun. It's next door to the restaurant so you don't have to worry about hearing it. read more

Arrived on a Monday almost 5 p.m. and the place was empty which was great for us staff was very nice I will waiter helps a lot and always came back to make sure everything was okay. The play started to fill up almost 6 p.m. I can see a lot of people coming here after work. They let you know in person and also on the menu that the Fried Chicken will take at least 25 minutes it is worth the wait the chicken is very crispy on the outside tender inside and has nice flavor I wish the spicy was more spicy but that's just me I like hot. The wedges were great nice thick and fresh they stayed steaming hot throughout our meal and the spicy dipping sauce took it over the top. For those who would like to blow a tune there are karaoke rooms available in the back which was unexpected but a nice touch. Overall I would definitely visit again. read more

Here's a new spot that features Korean food. I would dare say Americanized Korean food. The location is near the westbound Westfield train station on North Ave. Parking is challenging on busy nights. I would say that the decor has a rustic feel to it. Th dining area is a half level below the entrance. They have shelves of huge lit mason jars. Against the wall opposite to the entrance they have a wall of vintage vinyl records. To the right of that is a DJ who plays music on certain nights I believe Friday and Saturday. Just passed the bathrooms they have a VIP section where guests can sing karaoke. Now for the food. We ordered the Korean fried chicken, one small order crispy bun with fried soft crab, one small order steam bun with pork, and mochi for dessert. The fried chicken was pretty good, but I've had Bonchon and Boom Boom Chicken, which I think tastes better. It didn't wow me as much. The buns on the other hand were a different story. The crispy bun works very well with the fried soft crab. The bun itself was perfectly cooked on the outside and moist on the inside and the crab was also cooked to perfection. The steam bun works better with pork. Both tasted superb. They had an assortment of flavors for the mochi - passion fruit, raspberry, vanilla among others. It took over a 18 months but we came back for the chicken. I visited for dinner with a group of friends on a Tuesday before Thanksgiving and there was a decent crowd. We began with the Edamame. Very disappointing. Too charred and not much taste. We moved on to the crispy steamed buns with bulgogi. Good. From there we had the Fried Mandoo with Kimchi. Very tasty with a nice kick to it. We went with the famous bbq chicken and we waited the 25 minutes as advertised. I didn't think it was worth the wait. We went with the regular size (18 pieces) and probably should have ordered the large. My biggest disappointment was the size of the pieces. There wasn't much to it. I expected full size pieces but we got much smaller pieces. However small, it was tasty. 4 grown men polished off a regular too easily. We ended with the Waffle which was the best part of the meal. We ordered 2 and it was just the right amount. Tasty and sweet. The service was very good and the prices were very reasonable. read more

Been here a few times but kinda lost interest somehow. The only thing i would recommend would be their spicy double fried chicken which is very crispy with a mild heat. It can take 20mins or so for it to be cooked. Wished it had more sauce or rub on the outside. Along with their yummy mochi waffle. Tried the kimchi fried rice, seafood noodles, dumplings, and cheese curds which was ok. If you want something similar but a little cheaper, then i recommend bonchon. But if you want to stay in a restaurant bar-ish feel, then try this place. They also have karaoke for reservations. read more
