Roto Hero customer service promises to escalate. Still no response on the job quote. This happened TWICE, first on a toilet install and next on another visit for a sink install. No promised quote, so I went with another plumber. On a side note, do NOT allow Jay to upsell you on unnecessary work; ex. adding a clean out valves, full sewer drain clean outs, replacing working toilets or sinks because he simply states that he's is "not a fan of that brand." Jay simply just wants to separate you from your money with unnecessary upsells, or by using fear, or claiming the homeowner's plumbing fixtures are poor quality, etc. How about some honesty? We needed some work to take down a water heater, rebuild the base and re- install. Also, a shower valve needed to be replaced. At the time of estimate, we mentioned we had a Rooter Hero Plumbing 10% off coupon for Veterans. He said, "No problem. " The total for the work was over $7,900.00. The work was done and before paying, we asked about the 10% off and presented the coupon. The plumber who did the work said we needed to pay the full amount and call the office the next day to get the 10% back. After numerous calls to the local office and corporate, we never got a reply to our calls. We finally submitted a credit card dispute, providing proof of their 10% off for Veterans. We opened the dispute on June 6th, and today (July 21), my fiance gets a phone call from collections for Rooter Hero to collect the 10% that Chase held during the dispute investigation! I cannot recommend a company that treats America's Veterans this way! They offer a 10% off coupon for services, refuse to honor it and then send the Veteran to collections! And as a side note: they also advertise a coupon for 10% off for seniors also! It's a shame that they prey on the elderly also! read more

Had a foul smell in our house a week and a half ago. Had Rooter Hero come out. They recommended a smoke test. We had another company come out (second opinion) and they also recommended a smoke test. Had the second company do the smoke test and isolated the area of our issue. We then had Rooter Hero come out again to get a second opinion regarding the solution. Our technician was Jay and he was great. We discussed doing some tests that would require another technician to assist him and we had to schedule that for a later date. We scheduled it for yesterday from 12pm to 2pm. I called yesterday morning to confirm...and they confirmed...someone from dispatch would contact me about their arrival time. 2pm came a went with no call. I contacted Rooter Hero, they said dispatch would contact me about rescheduling. Received no call. So, this morning, I called them again. They informed me I was on the schedule from 12pm to 2pm again. So, I shifted meetings and made sure I was available and home. I contacted their main number at 1:30pm and asked if I was being pranked because no one had contacted me yet. He told me dispatch would contact me. It's 2pm and no one has contacted me. I've put more work into this over the last two days than my job. While the technicians who visited our house were highly professional, knowledgeable, and curious...I don't know what's going on over there aside from that. I hired Rooter Hero for a leak detection service. It was easy to book an appointment with them and they were punctual and they got the job done. However, the initial estimate was not given until they were onsite (even though it is a routine job with a flat rate), and it was insanely high. If I had not already done some research and gotten a quote from another plumber that Rooter Hero was willing to match, they would have tried to charge me twice the going rate for a leak detection. Lastly, FOUR TIMES I requested an invoice from the office with a statement about the leak that was found to show to LADWP, and each time they said they would send it along but never followed up. I hired this plumbing company to replace three faucets and tighten a loose kitchen faucet handle. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. The first plumber who arrived had to call another technician for assistance. Despite having two plumbers at my home for nearly the entire day, only one faucet was replaced--and even that led to a leak under the sink. I ultimately had to tighten the pipe myself before the plumber could return. The faucet still leaks around the handles. The other two faucets were not replaced at all, and the kitchen faucet handle that was supposed to be tightened is loose again. I paid $600, and at the end of the day, none of the issues were fully resolved. Turned off my water main, late yesterday afternoon, to do a simple hose pipe tap replacement in my back yard, when the plastic pipe just below the shutoff exploded! Had to turn off the supply at the street as water was now spraying several feet down my driveway. Called Rooter Hero, who were unable to come out yesterday due to late hour but said they would be here between 9-11am this morning. Cole turned up at 9:30 and couldn't have been more pleasant. He informed me of the potential time to complete the job and said he'd like to let the glue set for at least a couple of hours to ensure a good bond. He completed the work in a timely manner, then took a much deserved lunch break to allow glue to set. Came back a little while later, turned water on to test, and all is good again! Unfortunately I can't comment on the price as I'm just the tenant here, and that's the owners concern : ) Cole was a super nice guy, with an admirable work ethic, coupled with great communication throughout the entire process. A minority Female own local nail shop in Pasadena had water flood from floor sink, trying to fix and remedy the situation immediately and got hold of a technician from rooter hero. It's sad I have to give 1 star out of 5 as a business owner, how upset I am can not describe 1000's of their 1 star review and I feel obligated to share my recent experience with rooter hero with yelp community, and hoping that I am the last victim to go thought this, and should never let this happen to any desperate small business owner nor to any female who doesn't have plumbing knowledge. A technician who came out first suggested that I run water leak detection and that I should also have a restoration company to come out so that they can start cleaning up the place so the business that has been destroyed from the water ( the whole vinyl floor was wet and needed to be ripped off, dried ) can start operate soon. One of the restoration company I called and found from yelp was able to come out pretty quick but the technician from rooter hero refused to work with them and explained to me that he has a protocol and he has a specific restoration company that he is only comfortable working with.( later I found out that the plumber gets very high Referal fee) While waiting for the crews from restoration company come out, he said the water detection will cost $950 and he suggested that I run hydrojet for all faucets (I had 6 faucets for pedicure bowl) which will cost me additional $1600 to clean up the pipe. I was desperate and fix the immediate situation with water, I agreed to sign and he quickly handed me his IPad with no explanation rather than that is for agreeing with service fee, nothing was left for me to read or explained, and I signed. At first I refused to do hydrojet, and He told me that he can provide me a discount and asked me how much I was willing to pay for the hydrojet service. I explained to him that my recent hydrojet service I received for other location costed me $120 and agreed to pay $350 to run hydrojet. The whole cleanup was moving forward with the restoration company and the plumber from rooter hero came back and was trying to clean up the pipe. The plumber came back to me and asked me that I might have an issue with my drain pipe under concrete, he doesn't know where the blockage is coming from and that his jet wouldn't pass certain point. He suggests me to run an inspection camera to find out where the source of water flood. I asked him what the cost will be, and he said it will be $5800 for jackhammering the concrete and that the cost doesn't include fixing the pipe. I was shocked to hear how expensive it was,and he started explaining to me that it will not be part of my expense but the insurance company or the landlord should cover it because none of it was my fault. I was very desperate, felt like my time and effort had been vested, desperately wanting to restore, remedy situation as fast as I can. He elaborately explained to me that insurance or the property manager must cover this expenses because none of it should be my fault, it's an accident and the pipe most likely at fault is underground, drain pipe, structural issue. I called the property management company, he explained the situation to the property manager, but the property manager quickly told him she will not do anything but if the fault is found in landlord's responsibility, then she will send her vendor to investigate. He insisted that I move forward with the service knowing how desperate I was, but I explained to him I would like to get a second opinion. That day, He ended up accidentally leaving the sink faucet open after his attempt to hydrojet which caused further water damage. Not only he couldn't complete the service but also the sink faucet pipe left unhook, the water ended up coming out, and extended an extra day of the dehumidification process. After trying to get different quotes for the pipe inspection, I found out at no cost Jack hammering was not even necessary because there were multiple access points they could run camera without jackhammering the concrete floor and those access points were clearly visible from the floor sink there was water flood where he was attempting to administer hydro jetting. After-all, my total expenses were $1300 with no pipe cleaning, no camera inspection, charged for services that was not needed - water detection. Do not ever work with this dishonest, unscrupulous with absolutely no integrity plumbing company. Technicians/plumbers are commission shared with no set pricing in place, their business model is set to try to charge customers as much as you can get away with it, take advantage of their unfortunate situation with no sympathy at all. read more

The quote was for over 11 thousand dollars!!! Yes ELEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS! Beyond insulting that they think I would be that stupid to pay that, and I know that me being a young woman is part of it. I looked up online the exact tank and saw it was been sold for no more than $1,200 I bring this to his attention while I'm on the phone with him because it was a joke at this point.
