Velavi was fantastic at installing an entirely new HVAC packaged system with ductwork at my Parent's home. I know HVAC systems and was extremely particular on how I wanted the install done. From the initial meeting with Hector (owner) to numerous email exchanges with Vaneza in the office, Velavi was always extremely responsive and professional. Hector's install crew (will highlight Francisco and Brandon) were very efficient, with high attention to detail and overall very pleasant to work with. The entire system was installed in 3 days. Hector even helped with balancing the system. I say helped, as that was not directly part of his scope. I did the load calc including cfm per room and Hector helped balance to my requirements. It would be nice if a load calc (ideally manual J) would be provided (of course for a separate fee) but not going to knock Velavi as the other contractor's I received quotes from did not provide load calcs either. My background is in heavy commercial HVAC systems so my expectations are quite different than the average homeowner. This summer will be the true test but confident the system will perform very well. We had some issues with our heater/AC unit due to the heavy reason we received in February, so we contacted our home warranty service and after two other companies utterly failed in trying to repair our unit and we finally were able to get our warranty service to assign us a company with positive reviews (Velavi.) (The other companies had horrible reviews on Yelp and they lived up to those horrible reviews.) Getting an appointment with Karen at Velavi was quick, easy and I was able to get a weekend appointment (which I wasn't able to get with the other companies.) Jose and Abel came out early in the appointment time which I appreciated since I didn't have to wait around all day. They were both very professional and nice guys. Jose explained exactly what he saw and what was needed to repair the unit leak. He couldn't repair it at that time since he had to get the warranty service approval, which was fine (previous company that came out didn't understand the extensive repair that was needed so they initially reported anything that wouldn't have stalky fixed the issue completely.) Several days later, I heard back from the warranty company and the repairs were approved so I called Karen again for an appointment and again it was a quick and easy process to get the day I needed (the next day!) Hector came out to do the repairs and he was great too. He came prepared and in a truck that actually showed their company logo, unlike the other companies that came out. Hector was quick with the repair and explained what he did afterwards. I was able to have him take pictures and he sent those to me. I was also in the market to install a common wire for my new thermostat so I discussed that with him. He said it was an easy process since he saw that I already had a wire ready for that. He went back up without hesitation and installed that for me as well! I contacted Velavi to come out to give me an estimate to install an entirely new central heating and air conditioning system in my home. The house had never had a system before so I needed everything from the condenser to the ductwork to the cut in of new vents in the ceiling. I also have a partial flat roof with no attic above it for ducts so I needed exposed sheet metal ducts on top of my roof. I even needed an all new electrical panel to replace the 50 + year old one that was there. Estimate - I had already had a couple of other local companies out to give estimates before Velavi so I knew what I wanted, I was just looking for pricing and comfort level with the company that I would eventually use. Jose came out, arrived on time and was very professional and polite. Because I knew what I wanted it didn't take him long to look around to get the information he needed for the estimate. He didn't try to talk me into anything like a mini split system which I did not want. I asked him to give me an estimate on four different models and he said it wasn't a problem. He left and the next day I received the four estimates in great detail via email. I was surprised at the cost as the other estimates I received were much higher. With that in mind I had some concerns about exactly what would be done by the other companies that Velavi may not be including. I discussed my concerns with Jose and every question I asked he had the answer for. They were doing everything that the others were doing (and telling me that others may not do). Velavi even included an offer they were promoting here on Yelp that others were not. I was convinced they were doing everything needed and that they would be doing it correctly so I decided to go with them. Installation - I was told the installation would take three days. The installers (and Jose) arrived on time the first day, walked me through a few things and then got to work. Ricardo was the lead on my job and he was great. He would answer any questions I had and I felt very comfortable that everything would go well. I felt comfortable enough with him and his crew that I was able to leave them working in my home while I went to work. They were even very respectful of my pets and keeping doors closed while they were working. As the job went on I wasn't sure they would meet the three day time frame because there was so much to do but sure enough they were able to do it all including the new electrical panel in the time they said. On the last day, when the installation was complete, Ricardo was very patient as we walked the job and discussed and corrected a few small issues such as a vent that would stick a little when adjusted. They took care of each issue on the spot. Overall - As I said, there were small issues as the job progressed, nothing major, but this is to be expected with any job this size. A good contractor isn't perfect, it is how they handle the issues that come up along the way and Velavi handled them with professionalism and promptness. I am admittedly tough to please but Velavi really impressed me. I would recommend this company to anyone needing their services. Our old AC/heat unit stopped working and we needed a replacement. We met with five different companies before choosing Velavi and we can't be happier with them. They are great professionals, honest, quick, modern, friendly with competitive prices and great customer service. Just from the start we noticed Velavi was the best choice. All five companies (all of them with 5 stars) came to the house and gave us a free estimate. 1. All companies recommended a new unit, but Velavi did the most thorough inspection of the unit. We liked that because we didn't want to start the job and later find out that there was a bigger problem. 2. 3 out of 5 companies recommended a smaller unit. Velavi was one of them. We had a 5-ton unit and they installed a 4-ton. This shows that they know what they are doing and they are honest. 3. Velavi was the only company that showed us their catalog with different options and prices. We really liked that. It's a way to know that they are not inflating the price just because you have a nice house. Their price was just in the middle. They weren't the cheapest or the most expensive, just about right. 4. Velavi was the only company that sent their estimate via email. This might be a minor detail, but shows that they are modern and professional. I got other companies just telling me the price or writing it down on their business card: not serious. 5. Installation was painless. It was quick: just one day and a half. They were punctual, quiet and clean. They used rugs to protect the floors and took all the trash and the old unit with them. If you are searching for a HVAC installer, I urge you to get a quote from Velavi. They do top notch work. How do I know? The system that was installed passed all of the rigorous HERS tests with flying colors. I asked the independent testers how many Velavi installations they had been hired to test and how many had failed. Answer? Only one out of approximately 50, a record far better than many companies! Our city building inspector also gave a big thumbs up to the quality of workmanship. My experience was the same as Manuel P., whose review was posted yesterday. After researching online advice that experts had to offer about HVAC installation, I too received quotes from 5 different companies. 1. Velavi sent me an email that specified every pertinent detail of materials to be installed and the scope of the work to be performed. 2. They did not try to sell me bigger or higher-end equipment that does not deliver the bang for the buck in a climate like here in Southern California. 3. Their quote included the removal and disposal of my old floor furnace, which would have been extra. (They even installed dry wall and boards to close the openings in the wall and floor.) 4. Their quote included cost for the HERS tests. 5. Their warranty includes 2 years for labor, not just one. 6. The installation crew worked their tails off in our attic and under our house during a spell of hot weather. There might be other companies out there that are as good as Velavi, but I doubt that there are any that are better. read more
