I had an incredibly frustrating experience with this business. I found them through Yelp while trying to contact a different plumbing business. The company replied to my service request immediately and sent a link to make an appointment for an estimate online. I made an appointment for between 10am-noon on a Friday. That morning they call me to say that they need to reschedule (strike one). A person showed up within the updated 2-hour window only to share that they had sent the wrong person, he can't do estimates (???!!!) and someone who does estimates from their company would need to be sent out later (strike 2). I started to get annoyed because I had taken off the morning for work, but thought, let me just be patient. About an hour later the first worker comes back with his telephone and asks me to speak with his manager who said that he couldn't come out that day but could come out the next day (when I wasn't available). He proceeded to argue with me about what was needed and never once apologized for my wasted work day. (strike three) At this point, I felt that I had wasted enough time with this company. No one seemed to know what they were doing (the company's dispatch), or why they were doing it (the first worker sent to my house). I'll take this as I dodged a bullet, as I had not read the other reviews until just now. On Saturday, May 24th, a technician (Alex) came out to diagnose our broken water heater. He confirmed the pilot light was burned out and informed me that since the unit was under warranty, he would have to contact the manufacturer on Monday, May 26th to order the replacement part. Fine. I understood there might be a delay due to the Memorial Day holiday. Ezhaun said that the sewage was "everywhere" and that we needed to get out of the house right away and get a full new sewage system, costing over 22,000$ with a "managers discount." I spoke with the manager, Max Dukes, and questioned the estimate they gave us as it even gave us a brand new toilet and everything you could possibly think of, he told me that it was very serious and that we had to leave and stay somewhere else right away and that once the city found out our place would be "red taped." Afterwards they recommended a whole house sewer pipe replacement based the age of our pipe, a past recall, plus the assertion that our pipe joints appeared to be in the early stages of failing. We had two additional plumbing companies come to give us estimates. Both of these companies said that our pipes were in good condition and in no need of replacement or repair. By looking at the writing on the pipe itself they determined that our brand of pipe was not one of the ones recalled. Expensive and Incompetent thieves. I had a kitchen faucet that needed replacing, made sure to get the same model, so it was an easy job. Also had a simple shower drain clog. They showed up at the door and offered to do it for $600... which is ridiculous but I was desperate to have a kitchen sink with an infant in the house. I know I wasn't paying by the hour, but he was here less than an hour. The sink previously had low flow to hot and cold. After the job was done, the sink had flow only on hot. They explained to me that I needed to spend thousands of dollars to replace my pipes in order to get the sink working. I did not do that. I called in after the plumber left to ask someone else to take a look. After talking to that plumber, who insisted his 20 years of experience meant he couldn't make a mistake, he let me speak to his boss, also his brother, who insisted they had pictures proving they did the work perfectly and thus I was not entitled to their guarantee. We had a troublesome blocked kitchen pipe for about a week that was not responding to anything we tried. I used their $77 coupon and was able to set up a next day appointment which worked perfectly for me. The tech came on time and was conscientious about wearing booties to keep my dusty floor clean! He listened to my explanation and then went out to use the pipe snake to hopefully clear the pipe. He came back a bit later and said there may still be an issue but was clear about outlining the next steps and cost. I wanted to talk it over so he left me an estimate. A simple clog turned into a frustrating series of expensive spot repairs, 2 weeks of no sewer services, and $16,000 of unnecessary work due to scare-tactic upselling, poor diagnostics, and sloppy execution. Rooter Hero's faulty hydro-jet equipment and subpar video inspections diagnosed a broken pipe/sinkhole under the driveway. After jackhammering and excavating revealed no broken pipe and no sinkhole. The concrete driveway repair work was also ridiculously bad-- had to be torn up and redone entirely. Ironically, the real issue was a city-side blockage that could've been fixed for free. Rooter Hero's sorry excuse for not seeing this in the 3 video inspections; "Too much water in the pipe to see anything" I later discovered Rooter Hero has faced multiple consumer complaints and a 2023 CA Attorney General hearing over similar practices. I had a sewer pipe blockage. Rooter Hero arrived promptly and for $360 rooted the pipe unsuccessfully due to a blockage 20' down the pipe. They offered to then hydro-jet the line for $1950, which seemed ridiculously expensive, but I had company from out of town and they seemed confident this would clear the pipe. The hydro-jetting hit the same blockage 20' down the pipe and it did not clear the pipe. They then offered to dig up the area around the blockage for $6,600 !!! and replace any pipe required. I declined and they left. I rented a 100' rooter for $103 the next day, installed a spiral tip on the rooter cable and pushed it down the line. It hit the blockage at 20' and I pulled it out. There was a shop towel wrapped around the spiral tip, and the line was clear afterwards. I will not use Rooter Hero again. Almost seemed like a con game of sorts with ever escalating costs for unsuccessful results. read more

When it rains it pours! Well it wasn't rain but our water heater started spewing water the other night! Not wanting water spewing all over the place overnight I started calling plumbers that offered 24 hr service. Everyone else was busy until tomorrow except Rooter Hero. They had Luis out within an hour of calling! He managed to turn off the fountain of water and determined the problem was the top connectors for the water were corroded and we needed a new water heater since ours was 15 years old. Luis gave us two estimates and we picked one and he said he'd come back in the morning to put a new one in. The next morning Miguel, the supervisor, came by and said they did not have an appropriate water heater in their warehouse and they were going to drive to their one in Walnut Creek to get one and they would be back around 1:30 pm. Around 1 pm another technician Ed came by and said he was working with Luis and Miguel and had come by to start on taking the old one out. All three guys were great and truly heroes! We now have a brand new water heater with expansion tank that doesn't spew water and works even better than the old one. So, I have an 18 yr old who really enjoys a high fiber diet and a 22 yr old with long thick hair that she must pull out in chunks and shove down the drain for fun. Neither seem too interested in respecting the plumbing, nor do they communicate when things lets say, start operating slowly. I return home from out of state only to discover a completely disgusting, non-functional bathroom. I call the local go-to companies you hear on the radio all the time and both are willing to give me an appointment the next day during the day. Now, in most cases I can take a few hours off work but this particular week it was impossible. I ask for early evening service and am willing to pay the after hours rate, and then some. I booked an appointment online for a 6-8pm window and they called within minutes to confirm time and problem. Adrian and Chase were super communicative and accommodating, even when I ended up leaving work later than I thought. The pricing was upfront and incredibly reasonable, and they were honest. Chase gave me several possibilities of what the problem was, and started trying to resolve it at the lowest (and least expensive) level. Adrian got right to work and resolved the problem in no time. Do not hire these people to do any service for you. One of the worst companies that I've ever dealt with. Had some keys flushed down the toilet and hired this company to help out with the backed up plumbing and to try to get the keys out. They came and could not get their camera through the toilet so they plunged the toilet to unclog it, but never found the keys. The toilet was unclogged for about a night and the next day it was clogged again, so I called them back. They came back still no keys just ran the snake through again and unclogged it, but never really fixed the issue. Once again had them come back the next day because it was backed up again. Even my shower was backed up at this point the whole house plumbing was backed up. I let them know that the keys are still in there backing up all the plumbing and they told me that the keys were long gone into the sewer that that wasn't the issue that there had to be more going on, but they could not run the camera through so how would they have known if the keys were not in there. after no success I was fed up with them and hired a new company to come in and fix the issue after I already had paid the horrible company. The new company came in, put in a cleanout system and found the keys right away. This company does not know what they are doing and just takes your money. read more
