They came to unclog my kitchen sink for $89, last year. We were happy about the results so when our sink got clogged again, we called them. This time they couldn't unclog it even after using a hydro blaster. There were two people working on the clog to no avail. So they left and charge us $2250 for just that one visit and not able to fix the problem. They said they will come back with a camera to look down the pipes, they came back , now there are 3 people, they told my husband the camera is not needed because they know the pipes are clogged with dirt and grease. Quoted us $8000 to fix the problem. We turned them down. My husband and neighbor went down where the outlet of the pipe was and lo and behold - 2 hours of snaking and the pipe was unclogged! I feel misled and felt they could've finished the job my husband and neighbor did for the $ amount I paid. I was also pressured to sign a contract and make the payment asap by a technician. The people on the phone when I called were also rude, one guy was huffing on the phone like he was exasperated with me for asking questions. This company is disorganized, pushy, overpriced, and has questionable policies around providing estimates. I opened a project here on Yelp for toilet installation. I did not ask for this specific company, but Yelp sent out the request to multiple service providers, as it routinely does. I did not ask for same-day service or for someone to be sent out immediately. I attached a detailed video to my project request, showing what needed to be done: replacing an old toilet with a new toilet. Just watch the video and send me a quote. Pandemonium ensued. Rooter Hero sent me simultaneous conflicting messages from two different numbers - one asking me when would be a good day and time, and the other telling that they were already on the way. The more I explained that I did not want someone coming out today, the more messages I got stating that the plumber was now on the way to my house. When I called up to make sure he would NOT be sent out today, the phone attendant promised that they would cancel the order and not send him out without coordinating it with me. A few minutes later, the Rooter Hero truck pulled up to my house. I had to literally get someone out of the shower so I could show him the bathroom, even though I had never asked for him to come in the first place and was promised that he would not. The plumber barely spoke English, so I switched to Spanish. HE SAID HE HAD NEVER HEARD OF YELP. I showed him the toilet and explained that we'd like to switch it out for a newer one. He orally quoted a price that was more than double the cost that was given by other plumbers in response to this project request. I asked him to have his company send me a quote in writing, and he responded that ROOTER HERO DOES NOT EVER GIVE WRITTEN ESTIMATES. I thanked him and he left. I called Rooter Hero back a third time and relayed the entire story. Similarly to all the other reviewers, we also had a Saturday night plumbing emergency and called this plumber for help as they were one of the few open on the weekends. While they arrived quickly, they told us that we needed to replace ALL of our pipes ASAP. We delayed the issue until Monday and had 2 second opinions and neither of those plumbers recommend anything even close to that price. My issue was that water came up when washing machine drained the water. So I asked them to clean up the sewer. They used the snake. But it didn't help. So they used the camera, and they showed that the pipe was broken by camera. Then they said that they would charge $18K to fix the pipe. I was almost convinced. But my son stopped me to sign. I asked a different plumber (kingkongplumbing.net). They used the camera and dug a hole around the sewer. They finally clean up from toilet side. Then they could fix it by $600. Scammers - call someone else. On or about May 11, 2026 my wife called Rooter Hero to my home in Lafayette to unclog a lateral sewer. The technician who attended was Joseph - he was friendly and professional. He did not want to snake my line despite my requests to do so (the stated reason to the dispatcher was for a mechanical snake cleaning). He said that because my snaking efforts failed, his would as well as his machine was similar to mine. I specifically asked for them to come out to snake my line but instead he recommended that I pay for a hydro jet, and I agreed. The hydro jet did not work but I was still charged the $1,863 fee. The next day Joseph and another colleague came out to mark the obstruction with an electronic finder. They recommended a spot repair and cutting through my neighbors patio. I again asked them to snake my line no less than 5 times (I begged for them to try) and they refused, stating that if the hydro jet didn't work, the snake will certainly not work. The next day Absolute Plumbing came out and snaked my line and were able to provide flow to my lateral (they upcharged me - $700, but at least I could use my toilets and kitchen). My rental townhome property had a clogged drain in the kitchen. I called Rooter Hero and they showed up the same day on Saturday. I told them that the drain is clogged with grease and needed your service. They notified me that the special fee of snaking through the drain pipe is $77. Called me later to notify me that there is too much build-up and the only option is hydro jet, The cost was $1,500!!! Due to the inconvenience situation for the tenant, I approved the contract. About 30-min later I received a call from the serviceman that it is done and it is draining well. I was shocked to hear that because I knew they didn't use the high-pressure nozzle to clean up! I called him on Monday and he verified that cable/hydro scur was used! Around noon my tenant called me that the sink waste is backing up again. I was angry and very disappointed about mistrust and called their office and relayed my frustration. They responded and sent the team there again a few hours later, and this time accompanied with a hydro jetting machine! After one hour of hydro jetting, it appears that it is now ok. They could have honestly told me on Saturday that they would return on Monday to finish the job or just charge me $77 for a simple drain snaking! I highly recommend, never accept their expensive deal right at the moment, and wait until you hear from another company. They tried to charge $352 to snake drain. I said your website says $59. the guy said he not aware of special price but if I show him he'll give me that price which he did. The snake quickly had resistance so he asked to go under house to check pipes before forcing it. He came out with bad news saying pipe was cracked and raw sewage was under house all pipes needed to be replaced. He gave me an outrageous price especially the permit price (over $4500 which I later found out was $180-250 in my city). I had another company come out who determined there was no crack or raw sewage. He said the pipes are old and do need to be replaced but, not the emergency need to decide now and need work done immediately like Rooter Hero made it out to be (when people are scamming you they want you to make rush decisions). I called this company on 12/23/24; they changed my appointment two times. Finally, when the plumber, Josias Estrada, came without looking for a clean-out, He stated all the main lines were clogged and that he needed to remove both the toilets and snake from there, and that estimate was $827.When I asked your website was showing $88, he said that if I unclogg from main cleanout. This house does not have a cleanout line. It was hard to believe; I told him there was a clean-out line in front of the house, but the plumber insisted it was not the clean-out line. I disagreed with his estimate and called a different company, Cal Home Construction. The following day, they found the cleanout, which I pointed out, unclogged our toilets in less than 15 minutes and charged us less than $100. Yes they came out and fixed the issue but they are bandits. They knew the sewer line was broken and needed to be replaced so we could use our bathrooms. No snaking was going to clear the clog. It also did not give us the luxury to call around to get estimate for the work since we needed and immediate repair. There cost where astronomical and we replaced only the broken pipe. We had an issue recently again and call in a contractor from the CVSan district approval list. They quoted a price of around $8900.00 to replace the sewer line from the house to the county joint. That is what Rooter Hero charged for a 4 foot section. Rooter Hero also gave us a quote at the time for just replacing the pipe in the yard for $25,000.00. Only doing half the work for twice as much. Do not use this company. They advised me to order a hydro jetting service because the router did not clear the sewer line. That did not work except for a small hole through the tree roots. They also advised me that I had multiple leaks in the interior drain pipes and that the plastic was defective and needed to be replaced in full for $18,000-$19,000. I called a LOCAL PLUMBING OUTFIT. This company patched the call. That should've been the warning sign. But I figured how hard could it be to replace a drain latch in a tub? So we went ahead and scheduled. The RH plumber came out, but didn't have the part, so he left to try to find the part unsuccessfully. We rescheduled for Monday. He was hours late Monday but didn't have the right phone number and left my 93 year-old father just waiting. He then finished the job, so we thought, took the check and left. I go to take a bath nearly a week later and the drain latch is actually worse than it was originally. I don't understand how the guy could've left thinking the job was completed. Before you hire them, give them your hard earned money, and trust them to work on your home, please continue to read this and previous reviews. Also, check them out on the Better Business Bureau site. There you will see they are not accredited by the BBB and received a D- score from them. They cite failure to respond to 9 complaints for the reasoning. Also, there are 64 filed complaints (65 after I file mine) in the last 3 years, 36 closed in the last year, and the neg reviews give them *1.21*out of 5 stars. Now, my personal experience. My parents are seniors. They rent out a property which had plumbing problems two years ago. Rooter Hero told them they needed all this work done and charged $20,000. It took two weeks and was a huge job. They also left a huge mess as everything/all furniture was covered in dust, the walls throughout were also coated with a thin layer of dust. They didn't bother to cover anything with plastic or give any warning to move things out of the way before hand. What a way to inconvenience a customer who spent so much money. Fast forward to the present. In the same house, a tub and shower are clogged upstairs- even after all the work they did previously. They can't snake it and say it's a separate line that was previously worked on for the $20,000. Which, ok, it was. They come back the next day to assess the downstairs. I'm there to let the guy in. He's in, glances at two parts of the ceiling, merely 1-2 mins to make his assessment, then he's out. Doesn't ask me any questions about the plumbing downstairs but comes to the conclusion that this needs to be fixed right away. He calls my dad, telling him what needs to be done and asking if I can sign for him. My dad wants to sign on his own, so at the drop of a hat, the guy is willing to drive 50 miles to my dad is for his signature. About an hour and a half later, I call my dad for an update. The guy is standing right in front of him for his signature. He says they're starting today and they will be sending guys over NOW. I was confused at the rush & suspicious at why he would drive so far for a signature. It was around 3pm, they couldn't wait for the next day? I complain things need to be covered / moved beforehand and there's no time to do that. I quickly hop on their yelp reviews and their profile on the BBB site. I read the many reviews of them quoting jobs overpriced by thousands & thousands of dollars & and possibly preying on vulnerable seniors. I call my dad again. The Rooter Hero guy is gone by this time and my dad had signed. I ask what their quote was. He says $21,000. They also told him they would finish in two days. What $21,000 job takes two days? And my parents had already replaced so much for $20,000 so what possibly could cost that much? I warn my dad about what I read online. He puts Roto Hero on pause, and I find another company for a second opinion. Guy came out within an hour of my call. I could tell this person did his absolute best to fix the problem as he spent 2.5 hours trying to snake the pipes, looked for the crawl space, went on the roof, and with permission - cut open the wall a little to view the pipes downstairs. And yes! he cleaned up after himself. He put in so much effort in contrast to what was done by Roter Hero on their assessment. After he did all he could, he gave an estimate for the job- $5200. It ended up being $6800 after they found another issue. But $14,200 LESS than Roter Hero. We went with them of course, and the job was complete in two days. I think Roto Hero was willing to drive 50 miles unplanned for a signature and wanted to start asap to secure the dishonest estimate for $21,000. A SCAM and they know it. My experience matches the multiple reviews online. If you are reading this and still considering hiring them, do yourself a favor and consider another company that is honest and won't try to rob you of your hard earned money. I got a second estimate from 5 Star Plumbing (Alex was great!) and learned that Rooter Hero hadn't even tested the lines properly to know where the leaks were. This company is a complete SCAM. Look at the previous comments. I had them come out and was hesitant about their services, my tub and shower were clogged. A guy comes out and tries to snake, said he couldn't make it past a few feet (WTF?!) He then said his supervisor needs to come out with a camera, working in Inventory in plumbing I know ALL technicians have cameras if they're dealing with a plumbing issue so that was an immediate red flag. They then stated they had to do a hydro power clean out which would cost $1,900 from my roof to flush the debris away. The average cost to hydro power clean a sewer line is $700, the lowest is $300, the highest is $1,100 if you're LUCKY. Running this by my friends at Pace Supply & Ferguson stated this company is a SCAM & that they will literally bait and switch customers, give them one quote then redact it and claim that you need everything replaced at a ridiculously marked up value. What this company is doing isn't only unethical, but illegal. They're going to get sued sooner than later, I will fight them tooth and nail in court because the problem I was supposed to pay them to fix wasn't fixed, thus why I refused to pay from the get go and demanded to be invoiced. Their shady practice is nothing short of vile and predatory. I can't wait until a class action lawsuit bankrupts this company and those involved are charged with financial conspiracy, especially around the elderly and vulnerable. I know what the prices are for every plumbing product and what the average costs is for manual labor. After "finishing" the half complete job, they unprofessionally hung around my house for 2 hours, chatting and talking so they could burn time on the clock. This lead my neighbors to contact me saying they felt uncomfortable with their lingering presence. The manager was literally there during all of this, WTF?! I called in the morning for a repair to my tankless water heater. I asked several times for a tech to respond that knew about tankless water heater repair. I was assured that an expert would respond that knew about the repair. I could not talk to anyone at the local office, even though I was promised by the dispatcher that someone would call me. I was given a 2pm to 4pm response time. This was around 11am. When no-one had shown by 330pm, I called back. They returned my call at 340pm stating that no-one would be coming to my house because they do not have any techs that are familiar with tankless water heater repair. I had Rooter Hero come out to unplug slow draining kitchen sink because they had 77 special. The guy came in looked at my sink and said I do not want to do further damage by snaking it. I need to look at all of your plumbing which he did. When he came back he said I needed new main drain or my sink would never drain properly and that would be $12,500. also said my pipes were leaking and I needed a full redrain with all new pipes that would entail opening the walls. That was $37,00 . He said they had financing available and called someone else to come over to explain it all to me but he was 45 min away so he was going to go get a cold drink while he was waiting. I took that opportunity to call another company for a second opinion. When the guy from rooter hero showed up he explained the issues he said they found and my sink would continue to back up because it needed a new main drain. Also said my pipes could burst at anytime without the repiping done to the tune of $37,000 . I said I could only do the main drain so I signed up for the financing and scheduled an appointment to start the work the next day. 2nd opinion showed up 2 hrs later and inspected my pipes without me giving them any information from rooter hero. They tested bathrooms stating they were draining fine, I did not have any leaks from pipes under the house and all my pipes looked fine. I then told them what I was told the problem was. they said I did not need any of that work done the only issue I had was my kitchen sink which they unplugged for me. I called the company and cancelled my appointment for the next day. Then I cancelled the financing they signed me up for with no problem. Rooter hero showed up the next morning to do the work. When I told them I cancelled that they said they were not informed. Seems they have a problem there. They asked why and I said I had a second opinion that did not recommend the work. I would not recommend this business. I called them in to do a pretty easy job of clearing my toilet. In the process they ruined my toilet and it had to be replaced. It was months of me following up. They replaced the toilet finally and then left the other toilet in my front yard and never picked it up. I called them 5 times and each time they promised to get the job done and failed to do so. DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY!!!!! I got scammed! I'll be 100% reporting them to BBB and reporting them to the county. I chose them first because they offered a $77 coupon for a drain snake service. They ended up charging me $77 and didn't even clear the clog! They said the paperwork I signed said they would be paid whether they were able to drain the clog or not! They ended up with 2 technicians at my house for over 3.5 hours and again didn't clear the clog! On top of that they gave me a high quote of over $2,200 for hydro jetting service and an additional quote for over $16.5K to do a spray on epoxy coating. That's almost $19K just to clear my clogged drain. Oh, they gave me an $1,800 senior/military discount which would have made the quote over $20k without it. Their assessment of my drain and the subsequent estimates made me panic. I was at a loss for words. I just couldn't believe it! I actually put a call into my home insurance company to see what they might be able to cover. The insurance agent advised that I make sure the company was legitimate because far too often customer are doing an overhaul on their pipes when they didn't need to. Thank God, I listened to the advice of my insurance, looked over their reviews, got a few more plumbing quotes and wasn't bamboozled by this company. This company is a SCAM. They told my parents they needed to replace all of their sewer lines because of a leak and that it would cost $21k (including a senior discount- how kind of them). They went under the house and then showed them a picture of the "leak" that was clearly not even taken on their property. They got a second opinion and there is NO LEAK. STAY AWAY. read more

I called Rooter Hero and while it was nice that they sent a tech out free of charge, their estimate provided to fix the problem was complete robbery. I complained that our kitchen faucet had been making a funny whining noise. In 5 min, the tech said that there was sediment build up and that I needed to replace the entire faucet. He said he could give me an estimate for the piece and labor, but I said I would provide the piece..... I almost choked when the estimate was for $430.00 to do the work! I ended up calling another service who upfront told me the cost to swap out the faucet would be $150. Come to find out, I only needed a replacement nozzle and the cost is $40. AND i can do it myself. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They come from the east bay Not Sonoma County. All of the other reviews saying that they prey on the elderly seniors and use high pressure sales tactics are 100% true. Im 65 years old. They lied to me overcharged ($500) and tried to scare me (saying my pipes were broken and there were tools left in the sink pipes from the former contractor. ( All lies.) into paying more and left me with a clogged kitchen sink for over 24 hours more then needed. All done with a friendly smile. They are worst of the worst and well documented. Douglas Kent Fisher and Brandon Villalobos are the 2 Plumbers sent by Rooter Hero that teamed up on me for a total of 6 hours of small talk hoping I would pay more money to get a simple drain unclogged, That they couldnt do. The real Plumber I called the next day charged me less then half of Rooter Heros charge and unclogged the sink in 10 minutes. BTW no residential sink clog ,needs HYDRO JETTING its a scam. I want to let everyone know that the $77 coupon sticker that you might see on newspapers is only valid for once/year. If your pipes backs up again and you need it cleared you will not be able to use the coupon which is what happened to me. My pipes clogged up again in less than a year. Little did I know the problem was more than just a clog. I had no choice but to get it pressured cleared by Rooter Hero which costs hundreds more (as I couldn't wait any longer because I couldn't flush anymore). I ultimately had to get my sewer pipes repaired with someone else because Rooter Hero's quote was not competitive. read more
