Similar to other reviews, I called the company on 01/02/24 because of clogged bathroom and slow draining bath tub. The company told me the main sewer line was completely blocked, with a crack in the pipe. They went into the crawl space and took videos of leaks. They quoted me $19k and that the work needed to start immediately to avoid further damage. I called another plumber who fixed the main sewer line in 30mn and told me there's no leak in the crawl space. Stay away from this company. read more

Do not use this company, ever. Told me my pipes were collapsed and quoted $25,000 to repair. When I said that is too much, they said they would do it for $16,000 if I signed that day. Called our local plumber, and he is doing new pipes for $2,300. There is no collapse but pipes are old and we wanted them replaced. This borders on elder abuse and fraud. Had a mainline clog the night before a family party. Called Rooter Hero. They had a drain clearing sale in progress. Brandon was at my home in 90 minutes, as was stated when the appointment was confirmed. He was professional, neat and respectful of my property. He got a full understanding of the situation and got right to work. Within an hour, the clog was clear and he had cleaned the work area. Payment was easy and there were no hidden costs. I don't recommended this company based on their tactics. First, I called them to clear my house main sewer line and they confirmed they were sending someone with a snake and a 4 inch blade. When they got to my home and I showed him the cleanout that had been overflowing, he ran the snake without the blade and then told me there was a blockage about 15 feet downstream. I told him it's probably roots and to use the blade. He refused. Then he called his coworker who was in the area and had the camera. They ran the camera and tried to convince me my pipes needed to be replaced. I could see the roots and asked them to please just clear the roots. They refused, saying the blade might get stuck on the so-called "damaged pipes." I later called Advanced Trenchless, who cleared the roots and verified with their camera that I had no sewer pipes were fine, but I might expect to need the roots cleared every year or 18 months, which is cheaper than replacing my entire sewer line. Rooter Hero didn't do the basic job I paid them for and seems to be all about the up-sell, so I won't call them again. read more

Super went under house to ostensibly take pics. said main sewer line was broken and raw sewage had been going straight to crawl space for weeks. Quoted a repair price o $13,600 I called another licensed plumber for 2nd opinion. he said NONE of what Rooter Hero tech said was true. don't use them!! read more

Last week I called rooter hero. They came next day. They wanted me to the agreement with $350 payment before started the job. The plumber couldn't clean it after running the electricity snake. Then, he suggested to bring the jack plumbing, something hydrogen jetting but I needed to pay over $1800 and wanted me signed another agreement. Then the brought the machine. However, it didn't open the drain. Instead, all the water came back from the clean out opening and flooded the 2nd floor and ran to the 1st floor. The manager complained my sewer line had a crack and even showed me my sewer line was bad from the camera. Actually it was some dirt inside the sewer line. My house is new house. He insisted the sewer line needed to be replaced. Both manager and the plumber didn't have any experience and later charged me over $2100 without fixing the clogging problem. Later I ran the snake bought from home depot and clean it. I am really upset about their exaggerate charge and bad service without fixing the problem. read more

This was a couple of years ago, but as time goes by I am still miffed at them. I feel I was ripped off. I had a plumbing back up on a 3 day weekend. They came out and tried to snake it, but said it was too clogged up and I would need to do a hydro blast. Note I am a realtor that has these inspections all the time, I also had my sewer later replaced from the clean out to the street 6 years prior. The cost to do the regular snake was $250. Then the price became $2000 for a hydro blast. I have since seen companies quote $750-$950. The guy also told me I need to replace my sewer lateral. That is when I became to suspect they were ripping me off. The problem was I needed it fixed in that moment and they knew it. They are liars and try to take advantage of customer. I recently need to have the sewer snaked by another company and I said can you see my sewer was replaced and with his camera, he showed me the places it was done. and I think my bill was $175. Dispatched quickly for broken water heater. Technicians were not knowledgeable. Then told us they needed to check beneath our house for leaks. Found several leaks and quoted us $21k for entire repiping and $3500 for water heater (plus we'd have to buy a new water heater for them to install). Had 2 other plumbers come out, each quoted less than $3k for water heater replacement (including water heater). Neither found any leaks. They did find a water bottle with water under the house and noted the leaking "pipes" they showed us photos of were gas lines. SCAM! stay away. The main sewer line to my house backed up so I started looking for plumbers. I saw Rooter Hero's $77 offer and booked an appointment. Since my line was an easy clean out, they had to honor the special offer. The plumber fished the rooter snake down the line for a few minutes and then quit. He claimed that the clog was too bad and that I needed a hydro jet service for over $2000. I told him I'd think about it. The next day I had a different company come out. That plumber snaked the rooter down the pipe and in 25 minutes had the line cleared and draining. That company charged their regular price (around $200) for a simple clean out. I will never use Rooter Hero again and I do not recommend them. read more

Outstanding Service!! T A Roberts Plumbing (Find my 5-Star review) recommended "Rooter Hero Plumbing" and, as luck would have it, RHP are running a $77.00 special through the month of July 2023. For $77.00 They unclogged and Video cam'd a nasty sewage line back up that had been vexing an 83 year old Man in an Alameda, one story townhouse, for months. Very fast response - onsite within 2 hours. Very professional. Now they are repairing a badly damaged underground (under slab), cast iron sewage pipe, cleaning up the flooded-mess inside the house (two bathrooms, hallway, bedroom), replacing a toilet (or two), and turning frowns into smiles... Being a Licensed General Contractor, I get called by friends and friends of friends to recommend "specialists" and oversee these type of repair operations quite regularly. I concurred with RHP's approach, diagnosis, recommended repairs and overall approach & philosophy; not to mention NO-price-gouging! Are they expensive? Well, in a word, yes. This business model is likely a national chain therefore needs to kick-$-upstairs a couple of times however, this does not mean they "scam" as other disgruntled reviewers would suggest. They cover their arse (and yours) with right/correct/modern procedures/recommendations. All plumbers working at this level and managing these type of problems are, relatively speaking, expen$ive. Blame Liability Insurance, Workers Comp, Licensing, State Regulations, Equipment expenses, warehousing, to name only a few... However, they do provide financing if needed (who does that??), and they perform with a superior level of urgency and professionalism. And believe me, when a homeowner has a mess like this, Rooter Hero is precisely the team you want to show up and make repairs! I had a clogged shower that my handyman did not have the tools to fix. He told me to contact roto rooter. I called Roto hero, they had a $77.00 special. Upon inspecting my basement, they let me know that I had a much bigger problem than a clogged shower. According to them several of my pipes needed replacing. The pipes were leaking both water and excrement. This all needed to be fixed urgently. They could get an urgent work permit to begin work that night. The estimated cost was between $15,000 to $20,000. I decided instead to get a second opinion. I contacted a plumber who came the next morning. The plumber fixed my clogged shower and retied a pipe that had come loose and was leaking water. The cost $230.00 In summary, this is a company that entices consumers with their $77.00 special. Once there, the ruthless and dishonest drama begins. Please be very careful not to fall prey to this scamming company. read more

Dishonest company (or plumber or both). Plumber showed up with his iPad and charged $300 for a leaking toilet and then it still leaked within 20 minutes after he left. Then the same guy came back a different day and did something else for $300 and then it still leaked after he drove off. They then said we needed a new toilet since it's still leaking. We didn't believe them and declined. I decided to open the back of the toilet and buy a new flapper on Amazon for $10.42 and the problem went away. Avoid for any type of plumbing issues First they pushed my appointment twice for an urgent sewer block. The tech that arrived was, in my opinion, unprofessional and was not considerate of tracking dirt into the home. The tech ran no faucets, no shower, no flushing, absolutely zero due diligence on where the block might be under the home. They immediately went to find a 2 way cleanout around the perimeter of the house. When we could not find one, they instantly tried to push the install of one (which is not a bad idea) but basically trying to instill fear into us that it was necessary. Their quote was $6500 for a basic install. They had me on the phone with their sales person trying to sell me on the install, offered finance, saying they could do it same day. When I mentioned that this price seemed ridiculous they put me on hold to "talk to his manager" and was able to give me a $500 discount. Wow, what a deal! Since the clog was preventing us from doing laundry/washing dishes etc. I asked how much to do a snake and was quoted $300. I paid $50 for the visit and reached out to another company. The other company was on time, professional, wore shoe covers in the home. They did a thorough inspection to discover the block was near the kitchen and found a cleanout access point near the sink that Rooter missed. The cleanout was $175 and they quoted me $1500 for the 2 way install and said it wasnt necessary but something to consider in the future. Avoid Rooter Hero. Once the Tech arrived he told me it would be $327 because he needed to disconnect the P-Trap to access and snake the drain! . Ridiculous (I wasn't there to unscrew and reconnect it.) Then after he left we were putting everything back in the vanity and a new drip had started under the sink. Rooter Hero (should be rooter zero) gave me a coupon on my newspaper for a $77 drain clean, then came out ant told me that the quote was actually going to be $279. The plumber asked to see the coupon and then said that coupon is only for easy access and told me that my tub was not easy access. I have a standard tub with a simple drain?? so not sure why he thinks I am going to let him charge me 3x the quote. I told him no thanks and he said ok then you owe me $45 for a dispatch fee. I called Rooter Hero in October about a tub that wasn't draining, Ethan was the plumber on call and came by with a snake within an hour. He reported a blockage that he couldn't "get through" and called his "supervisor" Braeden, who came by and after looking at our pipes recommended a "whole house redrain" of all of our horizontal pipes. They told us that any blocked drain was considered an emergency and that we should repipe our whole house starting the next morning. They supposedly called their manager and got us "special" pricing for $20,000 to do the work. They also convinced us to sign away any prospect of cancelling the work before getting an additional quote from another company. The work was completed within a single day, which I thought was suspect. And then they came back to inspect the work and told us that we needed an additional $15,000 of work to repair the drain pipe going to the sewer, using an epoxy to seal the pipe instead of digging it up. This time I got another plumbing company to come in and give me their opinion whether this work was needed. A plumber with 16 years of experience from another plumbing company told me that we DO NOT need to do this work, that we won't need to do any work for at least another 5 years, and a repair like that shouldn't cost more than $7000-8000. Not $15,000. He was also shocked that the piping work that was done cost me $20,000. I'm a first-time house owner and I trusted y Rooter Hero to provide me with the service that I needed. And I ended up with a bloated invoice for $20,000 worth of work that I doubt was even necessary! I am very unhappy, to say the least. I see other customers of Rooter Hero reporting quotes and invoices on Yelp and Google that conveniently seem to match that $20,000 number that I was quoted and invoiced, but thankfully they got another opinion before they went ahead with the work that Rooter Hero was trying to pressure them into. He hit a blockage with the snake and said he needed his manager to come out to do the camera. his manager, Chris, showed up in like 5 minutes (oddly fast but ok) and then stuck a camera down the pipe without draining the water out. He showed me blurry images, suddenly hitting black, and said the clog was under my sidewalk and was a collapsed pipe. How could you know that with such poor visibility? He should have sold me on a jetstream to flush and then done the camera work (roto rooter did that). He then, based on this "evidence" quoted me a $30,000 job involving the city to replace the pipe. He also told me the water in the street gutter by my house was sewage and told me I just couldn't smell it (what?). It's just leaves and a little unlevel. He then pressured me to decide tomorrow or else they couldn't fix it that week because of the city not working weekends. It was a Tuesday so idk. I felt odd about the whole thing so I called roto rooter. Roto rooter only got six feet before they hit the blockage; nowhere near the sidewalk. They sold me on a (too expensive) flush. That fixed the issue and yes I do have roots and some offsets but nowhere near the level of a $30,000 pipe replacement. Stay away from these guys. This company is weird. I requested a plumber on yelp and this was one of the company that responded from that request. They instantly scheduled an appointment for the for the next day, which I never confirmed. Then they started calling me back to back, texting me back to back for my address, which I never responded to. They kept calling and text me so many times that I eventually called them back and spoke to some guy. I told him I was returning their calls. His first question was do I have an appointment so I asked"don't you know"? He asked me my name put me on hold for a second and came back and said he found my name and I was in Union City. I'm like nope I'm in Oakland so that right there told me they're disorganized. My kitchen sink was stuck last night and this morning I called Rooter Hero Plumbing. The next available tech came promptly. David Moreno did a very good job. He cleared the clog issue in the kitchen and my bathtub. He would show me what he found. After each task, he tested and examined carefully to make sure everything works properly with no leaking. He even cleaned the area very thoroughly. Meanwhile, he also fixed my toilet seat cover that was swinging left and right. I've been trying to tighten the screw, but failed. We've called on Rooter Hero twice in the last few months. Both times on a Sunday, both times with house guests making a quick fix even more important. Rooter responded quickly both times, arriving within a couple of hours. We live in Sonoma, which is far from all service people, so 2 hours is fast service. Both times they quickly fixed the issue and clearly explained what had happened and why. Both service-people were friendly, easy to work with, and worked quickly. A horrible experience and a horror. Totally predatory, especially as a senior. Our broken pipe repair went from $2800.00 to $35,000.00 when an incorrect conclusion was made by the service about the problem and the fix. As we were without water and it was over 100+ degrees and the repair was not happening that day, I was demanded $3500.00 for them to install a temporary patch from the meter to the house so we'd have water for the weekend. The communications deteriorated. Then $1200.00 was demanded for their work? I had given them $280.00 as a 10% deposit for the 1st estimate and said, "You have 10% for an incompleted job, Get the hell of my property!"... The estimator rolled his eye derisively and made some derogatory comments as he left. He did not check to see if we even had a gallon of water to survive. Ultimately, my tried and true plumber became available and did the entire repair for $1500.00 plus $200.00 for the temporary water patch. read more

I wish I could say better things about this business, but the only good thing I can think of is, they're open on the weekends. That's why we called them. It turns out our issue was a simple clogged drain (my wife has very long hair that had accumulated and caused the clog to slowly get worse over months). However, we're renters and so when we asked our landlord about this, he said to call someone, and if we caused the problem, we'd have to pay for the solution. If there was a bigger issue, let him know. So we appreciated that they had video camera technology to check first, but found the price of $350/drain to be surprisingly high. As a small business owner myself, I understand needing to charge money for services provided with expensive equipment, but once they're at your house and all set up with the camera, shouldn't the process in a 2nd drain cost less? In any case, instead of using the camera from our clogged drain, they ran it from outside out house to check the pipe from our house to the water main. They found a crack caused by a tree root (not our fault) so we got our landlord involved. Rooter Hero Plumbing gave a quote of $24K, which our landlord knew was overpriced. He hired someone else to do it for $9K, and then, since our tub drain was still clogged, we called around. Someone else quoted their video technology for $50 less than Hero Plumbing (I wasn't surprised) but we didn't need that again, so we finally found someone to simply unclog the drain for under $100. I wish we had never contacted them since they're masters of the up-sell. Convincing us to pay the highest possible rate for a video, then misdiagnosing the problem, then quoting 3X the rate to fix it. We're never calling them again. read more

We had a simple clogged drain line. Rooter Hero came out on a Friday and spent 45 minutes snaking the drain line without fixing the problem. The guy then crawled under the house and told me our drain lines were really old and we needed to replace everything. We had another plumber come out Monday morning and they used the exact same equipment and had it cleared in 10 minutes. Said there was nothing wrong with our drain lines. A little googling tells me that Rooter Hero is notorious for this behavior. $77 service charge gets them out here and then they pitch a job worth thousands. read more

A section of the walkway had to be removed to replace the lateral, and I am compelled to express how pleased I am with the repair. As the walkway is the only visible portion of the work done, it was very important that the flag replacement was level and as aesthetically pleasing as possible.
