Arman K. (Van #78) came out on a Sunday morning when our water heater wouldn't light. It turns out it was our gas line due to our earthquake valve bring triggered and shutting off the line. Arman, from the kindness of his scamful heart, told us our earthquake valve needs a full replacement and he could come back and install a new one on Monday for $1200! During the time I spoke to shady Arman, my wife called SoCal Gas who came out, same day, and restarted our gas. Since we are also living through a pandemic right now, SoCal Gas waived the $78 fee and fixed it for free. I hope Arman gets exactly what's coming to him. That's what people who do shady business and try to take advantage of others during a crisis deserve! Horrible company! I have an old house and the city found a gas leak when they came to restore service after we were fumigated. Rooter man had the best, safest, least invasive leak location service I found after calling about 4 other places. That part of the service was just fine. The problems started when the guys came out to fix the leak. The problem was under colored, stamped concrete that would be impossible to match, so we were trying to figure out alternatives to tearing it up. The gas line (found by metal detector) ran close to where the concrete ended and the landscaping began, so they dug a 30ft trench in the yard to expose the pipe. The couplings were not where they expected and there were twists and turns under the concrete they couldn't get to without breaking it. They recommended replacing the 30ft of pipe they could get to (assuming they could find the coupling if they kept digging) for $4,900 or reroute a new pipe around the yard for over $10,000. The less expensive solution would just be kicking the can down the road since we'd only be replacing SOME of the old pipe that was in really bad shape. Of course they didn't point that out to me...I pointed it out to them. Also, there was a second pipe that looked like it could have been in use but they assumed it wasn't. He said he was sure it wasn't, but he had no way of being sure because there was no gas in the system and he had no tools to test. They should have sent the guy out to test again at that point, but they didn't. So I called a general contractor I've worked with before who comes up with creative solutions and charges fairly. Should've done that first. He came up with a great solution. Since I had already signed a contract with Rooter Man, I ran the idea past them. They wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. Came up with all sorts of reasons why it wouldn't work and their company doesn't do that sort of thing. The boss couldn't make time to come out and look at the job site to verify all of this (the technician was facetiming with him from my backyard). OK, I get it, you're plumbers - you don't do drywall. I asked if we could walk away from the contract and they agreed. They charged me $1500. That's $575 for the leak inspection (worth it) and over $800 for 6 hours of work digging a trench plus some very expensive consulting fees. Turns out they damaged an irrigation line while they were at it, which they neglected to point out but the other contractor noticed. On one hand I'm grateful they let me off the hook...on the other hand I'm miffed that they didn't foresee any of the problems that arose, that they encouraged me to replace only part of a line that was in terrible shape without warning me of what might happen in the future, that the boss wouldn't come to the job site, that for a moment they tried to scare me away from a good solution with another company, and that they charged me around $100 an hour to dig. The upside is that the technicians were very nice, and the company obviously does a professional service. Their image is very important to them - maybe more important than the customer, which I can understand from a business perspective. But I can't recommend them for complex problems, or for old houses. Except gas leak detection. Totally hire them for that! A+ for gas leak detection. read more

A called regarding a mainline sewer clean out. I explained it wasn't an emergency and things were working OK but it was beginning to back up. I have lived in my house 23 years and done this a few times. When he got there, he insisted that it was unsafe to do the work and the $49 rooter service was not happening. He told me I would have to wait until the next day to have a water jet clean out performed at a cost of $499. I was told over the phone when I called that it was a $49 job but it turns out the plumber had no intention of doing it. When he got out of his truck, he said I'll just show you what you need to do and walked in. He asked me if I had a pipe wrench (dude you're the plumber ) and took a look at what was going on. When he realized it was not backed up or an emergency he immediately said that I needed a $499 water jet clean out. What a joke and what a scam. I told him thanks anyways and sent him on his way. Trash plumbing service and customer service!! Watch out!!! This company is a scam!!! I don't usually write any reviews but I have to this time! I had a drain problem in my kitchen sink and dishwasher and received a service on Dec 19. Technician whose name is Jawid fixed the problem and it looked like it was working at that moment. I asked him about their service warranty and he told me that if I face the same problem within 6 months, it will be covered with warranty. Two weeks later, I faced the same problem so I called the company to receive service. The lady whose name is "Sarine" told me that I need to pay another fee and there is no service warranty even though I faced the same issues. Even after my explanation about warranty promise from technician, she told me that that technician is not working for that company any more and kept repeating herself to pay another fee for the extra visit. I asked her to provide me with management contact info to resolve this issue but she was saying she doesn't have any manager who can supervise her work and owner of this business doesn't deal with customers. Our urgent care had to completely shut down because all our toilets were clogged. We had a plumber come by but could not clear the drains with just the snake and could not bring in their hydro jet machine over the same day. I am a bit late to write this review but back on July 12, 2019 I had Rooter Man Plumbing come to my property for an emergency plumbing service. They were told that the kitchen sinks would not drain properly. Initially they attempted to snake the drain yet it did not resolve the issue. The proceeded to go under the house where they located 10ft of cast iron pipe that had been corroded. They "confirmed" that this pipe was the correct pipe and needed to be replaced. They asked for consent from the lady at the property at the time and began work immediately. Once arriving to the property, I was told that the pipe they replaced was extremely corroded and caused the kitchen drain to back up. Furthermore, that pipe was flooding the crawl space under the house. It was not replaced with ABS for the price of $2350 dollar. Later I checked the crawl space to inspect their work, there was no sign of any wetness or flooding. The next day the kitchen sink would not drain again. I had 3 new plumbers independently quote me the cause of the issue and price to repair. All 3 plumbers noted that the line that had been replaced was not in service and upon opening it, was completely dry. The line was from the property prior to its remodel and was not in use. Furthermore, no signs of flooding or moisture was located in the crawl space. Each plumber located the that the kitchen line actually drained through a different portion of the property and was clogging about 300 ft down line due to tree roots. The same day we ran a camera to confirm the tree roots, opened up the concrete, replaced the pipe, and the sink began draining with no issues. I called Rooter Man back to inform them of their mistake. They had ultimately charge $2350 to change 10ft of pipe that was not even in use, also proving the point that the crawl space could not have "Flooded" from a pipe that was not in use. In order to not falsely accuse Rooterman, 2.5 hours of an independant plumbers time was used to confirm the pipe was not in service. Unable to receive a refund for their charge, I spoke to the manager. The manager expressed that his plumbers had used their time and material and therefore justified the charge. I expressed that the charge unfair as they were called to clear a kitchen drain and did no such thing. Any work they completed that was not related to the kitchen drain was inappropriate and not requested, not to mention the sink was never cleared. After much back and forth, the manager offered a small refund of $250. I cannot stress the lack of customer service and expertise this company has. More so, their pricing was a bout 2.5 times the other 3 quotes. Always remember that as a home owner, it is your right to approve or deny service. Do not feel pressured to accept service by a technician you do not feel is knowledgeable to make the repairs necessary. read more

Rooteeman LA is without question the best Plumbing company in LA (imo). Had an issue today (Friday @ 2pm). They had a technician at the house @ 4:30pm, same day. Along with updates as to arrival time, etc. Omar, the tech, was courteous, smart and candid about the issue and what needed to be done. He represents the company very well, as did the whole team. However, want to specially note how good Omar was in all aspects. Roots had gotten into the system (a problem in our area). He used a 50 ft snake, but didn't work. He recommended using their new Hydra-jet system (up to 4000 psi) and a VERY reasonable cost. They also DIDN'T CHARGE for this first service call, doing the 50 ft snake and 1 hour spent on location. Other plumbers wanted $200 just to come out, etc. In the past, companies I've used have tried to up sell to overkill work, and thousands of dollars. Rooter Man LA - charged nothing The first truck rooter didn't work, as such, they didn't charge a penny and wasn't contingent on further work. Had it worked, the net cost would have been "$49"! Amazing. So many bad plumbing companies out there, just furthers how far above the rest RootermanLA was. Thankfully I got two other plumbers to say that their estimated $9200 urgent disaster didn't actually exist. I've got some pros & cons Customer service was fantastic. Setting the appointment was quick, received multiple confirmations, short window of arrival and friendly service man. That said... We had an object get flushed was baking up the toilet. When setting appointment i was very detailed about it, but the appointment was set for a snaking. Even my limited plumbing knowledge had me second guess and repeat what was going on. The service rep can confirmed snaking and a price. Ok...no biggy. Super friendly and doing her job. Serviceman comes out and it's more than a snaking...of course. A manager proceeds to come out, remove toilet, crawl under house and tell me I needed all new plumbing, approximately $7k. Told him that wasn't happening and I was given helpful info about calling a credit company to get approved. HARD PASS! I'm then told they could fix my toilet. GREAT! That's why I called. No, not "fix", replace my toilet for $750. Again, pass, just want object out of pipes. After using a camera they were unable to find the issue, put toilet back and said not much else they could do. I'd have to get all knew pipes soon. The water was turned back on and service man left. I go into the bathroom to tidy up, open the toilet and the flushed object was miraculously floating in the toilet. So, all is well. Ultimately I'm saying, don't feel pressured into repairs you may not urgently need. read more

Needed a reliable plumbing company called Rooter Man Man. I found them on yelp I made sure to read through the reviews the reviews were good. So I called the company the girl who answered the phone was very professional and polite she sent out the rotor company The same night. I have not had excellent service like that from a plumber in years all the guys were kind and nice and explained everything which makes you feel comfortable. There are additional pluming issues that they found and explained everything to me. They are costly but necessary me that are costly necessary. I was so comfortable with this company. Had the primary issue taken care of that night. The next day a additional issue came up with the bathroom sink called and spoke to the same girl she sent Chris out within 3 hours, and again she was very nice. I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a plumber they are efficient , reliable with no pressure ... The work that needed to be done was done there are other issues when we have the funds will definitely be calling them back to finishing up that additional Plumming. it's nice when you find people who are happy to be called on. Just over a year later, I started smelling sewage vapor in the house. I had another plumber from a 5-star company on Yelp come out and inspect under the house. it turns out that Rooter Man used the wrong fittings and p-traps - causing waste to back up or not flow out. DO NOT HIRE. Four times in a row over two this company gave me a window of time in which they'd show up, and either didn't come at all or were running way late without a word. They were meant to come do maintenance on a pipe they replaced years ago, which supposedly has a warranty yet I can't get them out here to honor it. I also know multiple plumbers who used to work for them who no longer do, who all have nothing but bad things to say about how the company tries to unnecessarily upsell people on unnecessary pipe replacements and how workers need to meet monthly sales quotas. Totally unprofessional behavior and a logistical nightmare to deal with. If your pipes just need a routing go elsewhere, this company will scare you into replacing your pipe and then ignore you if the new pipe needs maintenance. read more

Do. Not. Use. Either the plumber they sent was incredibly inexperienced or was trying to scam me. I had a blockage in my sink. The plumber, Jack, tried using the clean out and said it was really packed in there and suspected it was old original pipes--which I do live in an old house. He crawled underneath and looked and said, yes, old pipes. This is when I started to get suspicious. 1. We replaced most of the pipes when we move in. 2. The kitchen pipes were changed out about 10 years prior by the previous owners during a remodeling. But, I thought, maybe they didn't change all of it. Jack said the kitchen pipes would have to be replaced. Which would require going through the stucco. At a cost of 1000 dollars. And it would take all day. And for an additional 500 bucks they would repair the stucco. I wanted a second opinion and I'm glad I did. I called the guy who did the work of replacing my pipes. His guy went in and said it's all copper. All copper. Not the original pipes at all. This plumber recommended a guy who does blockages. That plumber came and started to work under the sink. He had to replace a few pipes--basically the trap. But that was that. The blockage was taken care of. No stucco needed to be fixed and only took a couple of hours. And less than a third of the price. It's possible the person Rooter Man sent was just inexperienced, but that inexperience almost cost me 1000 dollars, possibly more. (And he would have removed good copper plumbing!?!?) Rooter man was prompt, professional, and patient. I easily made a appointment on a Sunday for Tuesday for what I thought was a clogged sink but it turned out our old tree roots went into the old pipes. They sent a text with a name (Art), time, date and a text to let me know they were on their way. My mother lives in an old Victorian home and apparently the roots went into the pipe. They took pictures and presented it to us with a cost. Even gave us a discount. It was a big project. They came back the next day after our agreement. There was no wait time. They worked 7 days straight through a weekend because they had to change out the entire bottom pipe to the city. They even had a underwater water camera into the sewer line and showed me exactly where the damage was. I would absolutely recommend them again. read more

COMPLETE SCAMMERS!!!! i had a clogged toilet from accidentally flushing a plastic cap so i needed the toilet removed to remove the object - i was quoted $175 to remove and reinstall the toilet When the technician got here he told me the stud was corroded and to repair it they would have to place a containment barrier while they worked an have to replace the flange - which he had not even been seen yet - and the entire cost was going to be $2850 if i bought the new toilet and $3230 if they bought the toilet!! This review is actually for service that wasn't done. Let me explain... I've called Rooter Man two separate times for some preventative plumbing work. Both times the technicians educated me, were honest, and said that I probably didn't need the service at this time. I really value service companies that are upfront and transparent like this. Also, their $49 drain cleaning special is probably the cheapest anywhere you can find. I hope I don't need to hire their services, but when I do I'm calling Rooter Man ASAP. P.S. I called Rooter Man at 3:30 PM to say I had a clogged drain. They told me they would send somebody and the person named Leo Van would be there between 4 PM and 5 PM. At 4:30 PM the Rooter man truck pulled up in front of the house and Leo stepped out and introduced himself and asked what's the problem was. He immediately unloaded his drain cleaning equipment and efficiently cleaned the drain in a few minutes, had us turn on a couple of water supply sources to check that the drain was indeed clear. He waited to make sure there were no back up and then closed up the drain. He billed me the $49 I had been quoted on the phone. Leo was a very meticulous, professional, clean and friendly guy and I enjoyed meeting him and would definitely call Rooter-.man again. Would highly recommend to anyone needing plumbing service. I reached out to rooter man for a clogged toilet. They advertise a $50 rate which turns out to only apply to outdoor drains, we were actually charged $125. The plumber that came out was very polite, but didn't manage to completely unclog the toilet (after trying for about 30 min) which clogged again pretty much immediately afterwards. We called rooter man afterwards to see if they would come back and fix the issue, and they said they would but we'd have to pay them again. We called our regular plumbers instead and they completely fixed the issue in 5 minutes. Pretty bad experience with this company! read more

$4K I have a 1950's house. So there will be some work but with a small pinhole leak on the Main. Knowing what the work was and I had my own equipment, I was thinking, well, "I should have someone else do it." I Googled a plumber (I'll think twice before doing THAT again). Their Plumber came in and was expecting the worst....it was, "You have over 90 psi on your water, That's why you're getting leaks!" This is what I can do... replace the bib, the Main shutoff, and a regulator but My boss wants to let you know their may be more leaks once I repair this one. Price quoted- $1780. He shows up at 10:30am Tuesday 9/29 sends me a video of my Main, which has seen better days but now with an additional $2.2K!!! Now it wasn't like he was digging on a hill or even under My house. It was 3 inches below the ground and all he was adding was a straight line. I said, "$2200 more?" He said, "That's what my boss quoted." I told him go ahead. He didn't finish the 1st day. He was worried about not being able to finish...Wondering.. "What Time does he start his day?" I work Construction and My Day Starts at 3am for a 6am job start. He places the junk back together looking like a fountain of age with my Side yard getting wet. He asked if I could shut off the water overnight. I obliged. Plus I didn't want to be wasting water. I always text My Wife at 9am for sweet nothings and asked if the plumber showed. "Not yet" I text him to find out he lives in Palmdale and is stuck in traffic. He gets it together by the time I get home from work at 3:30. So for 5 hrs worth of work, It does look like Professional work(That's why 2 stars) but for $4K? That comes out to $800 an hour. My sink has been backed up, slow drainage for a couple weeks. I tried everything and finally bit the bullet and called several plumbing companies that had the "same deal" as everyone else. Payment was easy and quick. For sure the best experience I've had with pluming issues. I had a back up into my house and they sent a camera down and told me that I had a clog where my new pipes were connecting to the old pipes that they had done last year under the foundation. They told me I needed to add a clean out so that they could unclog it outside. Then they proceeded to tell me that I needed all new piping out of the street and that I needed a two way clean out. It turns out they only put in one clean out towards the street which didn't fix the problem. Then I find out that where they say the clog was is Still old piping. I still have a section of old pipe that connects from the street to under the house so basically this whole thing was useless and lots of money. They will show you one tiny little scary root that has gone into the typing and tell you the whole thing as bad when meanwhile it really wasn't because I saw the pipe. Get a second opinion before you do anything. So they had to come back and dig up everything again and put in the second clean out which was in my contract. So basically they replaced pipe from the foundation to the street and one way clean out that didn't even go near the clog. So between the two sections I've spent about $15,000 with them and still have an old section right under the foundation and they never connected to the main line in the street which I hear from another plumbing company that I am responsible for.
