We had reservations for Friday night. The restaurant is positioned in a nice location but parking is not great. The restaurant itself requires renovation especially the men's bathroom which had broken tiles and faucet fixtures. Upon entrance, we were seated quickly, and our waitress was incredibly attentive and polite throughout the entire meal. We ordered some drinks to start, and they were excellent--we really enjoyed them. For our appetizer, we got the single order of guacamole. Unfortunately, it wasn't great; it was mostly just lacking flavor and needed lemon. For our main courses, we went with tacos, which turned out to be a bit of a mixed bag: * Birria Quesatacos: By themselves, these were honestly not great. They absolutely needed to be combined with the provided dipping sauce to be palatable, and the meat itself lacked basic seasoning. * Steak Tacos: These were decent and definitely the better of the two orders, but like the birria, they still needed more seasoning to really bring out the flavor. Overall, the main courses weren't outstanding and we decided to forgo dessert entirely. Located along the water at the National Harbor in Oxon Hills, there is no street parking and you'll have to find a nearby parking garage. A little further away is metered street parking. This is a bustling area with active traffic so pay attention to your surroundings. We visited on a Saturday night. Not a long wait to be seated but once we were seated, it felt like we were forgotten. The server (Mattie/Maddie?) brought chips and dip to the table. The outside of the bowl was wet and covered in crumbs. I dunno, maybe they had just washed the bowl and used it to dip into the chips? The water glasses were still warm from the dishwasher. More time went by before drink orders were taken. I opted for the pomegranate margarita. I wasn't asked if I wanted it on the rocks or frozen and it came as a slurry concoction with a poorly salted rim with their signature spicy salt. They don't have Tajin. They were out of calamari and I chose the grilled shrimp Alambre. It comes with sautéed spinach and Spanish rice. Upon delivery to the table, I paused as I thought the sauce over the shrimp was liquid cheese (not a fan of liquid cheese). Turns out, it's a mango puree that gave the shrimp a nice flavor. The plate must've been put in a broiler because some of the rice was crunchy, but not as warm as the other items on the same plate. Overall, the dish was fine. There is bar seating, an outdoor seating area if you'd like views of the water and the live performances they have adjacent to the building. Capable of solo diners, date night and group celebrations with enough notice to support. A military discount is available with proper ID. A lot of hustle and bustle during this visit. I'm unsure if it's the location, the time of day, or just one of those things. Nothing happened that I wouldn't return, but nothing happened that makes me want to return. The ladies room was in dire need of some attention. The sinks were covered in water, someone had filled the soap dispenser with water to get the last of the last, and the trash was overflowing. A real turn-off. I bid adios to Ross Mexicano and hope things improve. read more

I had a great time while visiting Rosa Mexicano for lunch with a friend of mine. We were able to get seated because we booked a reservation through OpenTable. We had the blood orange spritzer and tableside guacamole which both were delicious. I ordered the roasted have chicken with Mexican rice and spinach with plantains and my friend ordered the jackfruit tacos. She is Vegan and enjoy everything. Lots of seating - seemed ADA friendly. Ordered: *Queso dip ($13) - my friend who doesn't like queso thought it was amazing. *Baja tacos ($17) - really yummy (some taco had too much lettuce/green), good size fish the price for 3 tacos seems eh. *Tres leches French toast ($18) - average (not anything amazing), could've skipped ordering, wouldn't order again. *Steak tacos ($22) - yummy (price for 3 seemed eh). *Guava colada ($7) was delicious - would absolutely order multiple of these since they were sooo good. The portion size was so huge!! We ended up having to take some of the guac back with us because we couldn't finish it. I also got the birria quesatacos. It was my first time trying birria, and I personally really loved it. The meat was so tender and flavorful. It's a Friday afternoon, a little after 3pm. We came in and were seated immediately. We had window seats and had a nice view of the Harbor. Waitress gave us some salsa and chips while we waited to place our order. Chips have no salt and the salsa was edible. To drink I had a frozen mango margarita and he had the blood orange sunrise. We both enjoyed our drinks. They are known for some good guacamole. It is made in front of you and you can make suggestions for the ingredients in your guacamole. We asked for more onions and he had jalapeño added to his. The guacamole was so good. He had the salmon pipian. He commented that the green sauce was a bit overbearing. Maybe less of the sauce would have been great. The salmon and veggies were delicious. I had the red chile shrimp. The shrimp was a bit salty but it was okay. I also had the sweet fried plantain, that was delicious. You could add sour cream and cottage cheese on it. That wasn't a favorite addition of mine. Overall the experience was nice. It was a last minute decision, but I decided to do bottomless brunch while I was at the harbor for a convention. I made a reservation with little effort and was even able to push it back last minute when my friend and I were running a little late. We went in and got settled right away. Our timing was perfect, as it was 1:30 and there was a 90 minute limit for bottomless brunch (which ends at 3:00). We could pick from mimosas, sangrias, frozen margaritas, bloody marys, and the La Tradicional which is a very fancy and yummy margarita on the rocks. I tried everything but sangrias and bloody marys, and loved them all. As my entree, I got the bacon, egg, & cheese torta. It was a solid, tasty sandwich. And I have to say overall I enjoyed everything. Was I blown away? Not necessarily... but did I love the vibes and how great the service was? Absolutely. It seems they were having issues with the AC. So we chose to sit inside, were seated at a booth, and were quickly tended to. Who doesn't love Rosa Mexicano guacamole? It is SO GOOD! That's the first thing we ordered ... spicy guac! The salsa is good as well. My partner is a chips & salsa maniac. I'll handle the guac! She ordered a mimosa flight. I just ordered the mango mimosa. I could have gone for more champagne and less mango juice, but I'll take it. My partner ordered the huevos rancheros, and I got the bacon & egg torta. I think both orders were Rosa Mexicano's take on the dishes. The huevos rancheros didn't look like I expected them to look, but my partner really enjoyed them! The torta was tasty. The bun was very soft and flavorful. You can't go wrong with bacon & eggs! It also had a sauce, I don't recall what it was, but it added to the sandwich. It came with fries. Four stars for the service! My server was awesome once she finally got to my table. I waited for about 15 minutes for anyone to come bring me water or take my order. By the time someone showed up, I was ready to order. Now, for the food. I used to come here, maybe once every month or two when I first moved to this area. I really enjoyed this restaurant then. I hate to say this, but it has definitely fallen off quite a bit. Chops and salsa: chips need a little bit more salt and the salsa is bland. Guac: healthy portion size. Very fresh ingredients. Made it your table. I needed a little bit of salt. Chicken enchiladas: this really hurt my feelings. I used to enjoy these, but I would say these were a solid 2.75 to 3 stars out of five. They were cold, and the flavor was nothing like I remember. These were not as good as they should've been or as they used to be. Tortilla soup: lots of chicken and avocado, but the base was giving a burnt/roasted flavor and it was very oily. I wouldn't repeat it. Overall, I think this is the type of restaurant that gets visited by the conference goers in the area. It's definitely not the type of place. I would recommend my friends and I go to anymore. The ambience inside is very busy. I do recommend making a reservation if you do want to go. Considering this restaurant is in National Harbor, I didn't expect authentic Mexican food, but I did expect better after hearing the sous chef is Mexican. I ordered the roasted chicken with mole. The chicken was dry, lukewarm, and tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp. The mole was decent, similar to a Mole Poblano, but there was so little mole that I had to ask for more. The rice was undercooked and completely flavorless. The fried plantains were the best part of the meal. My friend had the quesabirria tacos. They were better, but still not as good as an average taco in Los Angeles. The service matched the food, our server seemed completely uninterested in being there, and it showed. read more

I've been here a couple of times for business meals and it's not too bad. Definitely have some things on the menu that are misses, but the stuff that's good makes up for it in my opinion. The fresh guacamole is really good and it's a huge portion! We always order at least 3 of them for the table. I've ordered the birria tacos and was slightly disappointed due to how small the tacos are. They taste good but leave you wanting more. If you have chips and salsa before, it may be enough food. I personally prefer the fajitas. They have a lot more food and also taste really good. Careful though because they are really REALLY hot (temperature wise). I burned my tongue a little when I had them due to how hot the bowl stays. The churros for dessert was good if you're craving a little something sweet after your meal. The service here is typically good. We are typically a larger group so they're usually pretty quick for how many people we have. The server this past time was a little pushy on trying to get the group to order more drinks than we wanted. We kept insisting that we were good with our 2-3 drinks each. The ambiance is nice. Overall a great experience for upscale Mexican food with a small hiccup that was quickly amended! Came here in March for a conference dinner. The price point is a lot steeper than a typical Mexican diner. However, the whole National Harbor area is expensive. We got appetizers of chips + guac and nachos. The guac was . We also had chicken enchiladas which were also delicious. For entree, I ordered Tampiquena which was recommended by the waitress. The steak was amazing. Unfortunately, I didn't get to try the whole meal hot as my food mistakenly got cleared when I went to the bathroom. Luckily, the owner was kind enough to pack me a replacement meal to go, which I ate the following day. The churros as dessert were crunchy in the outside and soft on the inside. Very well done. I would rate them higher if they communicated better. Last time we were there they didn't tell us there was an AC issue until we were seated. Let us make that decision. Everyone was complaining. Didn't even try to give us a discount for our troubles either. They've also slimmed their menu which made ordering easier and I think definitely helped kitchen turnover. We loved the cocktails, the tacos, the pork. There were no insane lines even near peak dinner times. I recommend the cheeseburger tacos, though be warned as I was craving them again for days afterwards.
