One word: SNOOZEFEST. Thank goodness my friends and I know how to make our own fun because this place was not giving what it was supposed to give. The restaurant has a huge bar right in the middle, loud music playing, and even an outdoor patio and bar area. However, neither space seemed to have much energy or many people. The vibe just felt...flat. I will say the music did improve as the night went on. Initially, the playlist wasn't really my cup of tea, but once they started mixing in some 90s and 2000s R&B and Hip-Hop, things got a lot better. That's when my friends and I started dancing in our seats, singing along, and creating our own entertainment while other patrons stared at us like we had landed from another planet. Sorry y'all, some of us came to have a good time. Now, I will give credit where credit is due. The service was really good. The staff was attentive, friendly, and kept checking on us throughout the evening. The decor wasn't bad either. It leaned heavily into the Mexican Day of the Dead theme, which I actually liked. The restaurant had personality and the design was much more interesting than the atmosphere. Even the restrooms were nice, although they felt like they were located in another zip code. Be prepared for a little walk. Now let's discuss the food...or maybe let's not. We ordered chips, salsa, guacamole, and chicken nachos. The guacamole was the clear winner and the only thing I genuinely enjoyed. The salsa tasted off and wasn't for me at all. As for the nachos? Absolutely not. Nasty. I don't know what happened there, but they were a complete miss for me. The funny part is that Diablo's wasn't even our first choice. We had just come from a 90s party and were a little underdressed for where we originally wanted to go. That spot had a stricter dress code, so we settled for Diablo's instead. Would I return? Probably not. Even if I'm already at MGM, there are several other spots I'd choose first for better food, better energy, and a better overall experience. We arrived and were put on the waitlist for 45 minutes. Once seated, the waitress comes by to take our order. She said that we needed to put it in before the kitchen closed, so we did immediately. Ten minutes later, a man comes to the table saying that they couldn't serve us because we didn't order in time before the kitchen closed. I'm not sure if the waitress forgot to put the order in, or really what happened. Either way, they waisted our time and our ability to get something to eat without a care. No apologies. My husband & I were at National Harbor for Valentines Weekend to attend the KEM concert in The Theater there. We ate dinner before the show at Diablo Cantina. To say this was some of the best Mexican cuisine we had experienced would be an understatement. Everything from the decor to the ambience to the service to the food. Every aspect of our dining experience was exquisitely represented & executed. One of my favorite parts of our dining experience was the music playing. The majority was Spanish language.& when it was not Spanish language, the artists were of Latino/a heritage I love dining at culturally specific restaurants & having them embrace they embrace the entirety of the culture. Needless, Diablo Cantina has now been added to my Top Favorites list. So if you happen to be in the area, I definitely recommend giving them a try. read more

While staying at MGM went down to Diablo's. The menu is pretty small. Not a lot of options. I got the steak. Server said it's kinda small but comes with peppers and some onions. So I ordered that and the crunchy's app. The steak was small like she said and it came with 2 small peppers. The steak was not really seasoned at all. So kinda bland. The crunchy's app is their version of chips and salsa and guac. One of the salsas was pretty good. The other not so much. Strange orange goop. Over all the meal was $47. Came here on a Thursday night which was so much fun. They have salsa and bachata lessons every Thursday by a great instructor. This a place to meet people and dance all night. The vibes are great! Visited for their Cinco de Mayo specials the weekend prior to May 5th. Had an evening reservation. The front entry host stand was a little crowded and challenging to navigate who to speak with to enter the restaurant however since I was meeting friends who already had a table I just walked around the host stand and entered the restaurant. The restaurant is very bright, open, and spacious with several indoor and outdoor seating options. We were seated outside on the back patio. The table service was prompt and the staff was very attentive and lively to ensure we were enjoying our time at the restaurant. We ordered various appetizers to share and they were good especially the cheese bread. The noise level is moderate even with live music and a DJ playing inside we were still able to hear each other when speaking. I did not have any bar drinks or cocktails during this visit. I had a great dining experience! The service and food were superior. The manager even took a dish off the bill because it took too long to come from the kitchen. I didn't even have to say a word and that has never happened before. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and dine here again. It is a bit of a long walk from the theater area for people with mobility issues which is a shame but other than that, I really enjoyed it and hopefully next time I can spend more time and relax and enjoy the atmosphere. I was dining here pre-theater and I couldn't get a reservation at the Asian restaurant - where I actually wanted to dine. This was our first visit to the cantina and we were pleased. The seating is great, indoors or outdoors. The natural lighting helps to create a great atmosphere. The service was great. When we got there, we learned that they very recently (as in a few days before) changed the menu to be more tapas style for more of a lounge type of feel. I was so disappointed. So I had been one time before years ago and as far as I could remember the tacos were good. I was playing cards and decided to stop in the place was empty on a Sunday at 5pm that should have been a sign I got two beef tacos for $22 and some corn pups for $12. I kid you not for $36 that is the worst food i ever bought! The beef taste like dog food, and the corn pups was corn supposedly like a hush puppie but spicy had a weird taste. It was so bad I ate some of the beef by itself two corn pups and just left the food by the poker table. I was upset I paid that much for food I couldn't stand to eat. Went to celebrate a friend's birthday there this past weekend. It was my first time at the restaurant and MGM resort was excited. I got a Sangria at the bar as we waited for rest of the group to join and it was good-tasty and not too sweet. We were seated at the our table and ordered flamingo guacamole which was decent and underwhelming because I was expecting more spice. For my entree I ordered shrimp and chicken tinga tacos which were delicious especially the shrimp because it had a bit of a kick and was seasoned well. Taco Tuesday was delicious at Diablo's Cantina. We've been to this restaurant a few times at the MGM casino and I am delightfully surprised at how good the food was (again). We sat at the bar, Steve was our bartender and he was awesome and attentive. It was busy but he managed to sufficiently take care of us. Chips and salsa were good. The selection of tacos were amazingly delicious. The fried beef taco and the steak and lobster tacos are going to be my go tos from this point forward. The short rib was fork tender! Ordered different tacos, flour tortillas were cold barely heated in microwave cold and hard after a minute. Server was indifferent and seemed bored. Our first time going to MGM for a show last night and decided, LUCKILY, to make reservations somewhat early to the only restaurant that seemed to have availability for the pre show time we wanted. I was little skeptical going in after reading reviews, but our intention was to have sit down dinner before the show and try it for ourselves. We were greeted by the hostess very nicely at the stand outside of the restaurant and appears they are very experienced at moving people through as it gets crazy busy when a show is in the theater. Luckily we were amongst the first through for dinner. The atmosphere is fun as catchy music plays at a comfortable level for talking as well as being able to hear the song. Decor is vibrant with wall murals both painted and floral designs and a traditional but modern Mexican feel. Dining room and bar area appear clean and well maintained. Staff is very attentive but I get the feeling on busy nights as this was, they are trained to move people through at a good pace without lag time. I'm sure it's an MGM standard. Our waiter was great. Shemar first appeared nervous but as time went on, he calmed, but he's the perfect speed for this type of evening where everyone was on high energy. We received chips and salsa and they were fresh, crisp and addicting. Just the right amount of salt without being greasy. Loved the Blue chips but only a few in the basket and I ended up devouring them first. Salsa was thick enough to stay on the chip and was enough spice for me ( I like a little heat, but not to ruin the tastebuds). Our waiter checked in on us often, filled my water glass and brought additional soda without asking and THAT'S a pet peeve of mine that if accomplished well, deserves a great tip. We also had visits by the 2 managers on duty to make sure we were happy and we were. We were left wondering what it's like to dine here on a quieter evening. We ate at a comfortable pace for us, cognoscenti of the busy evening, but if we wanted to linger longer, I think that would have been discreetly encouraged that our time was up. Food was excellent and I had 3 items I was debating and when I asked Shemar what he'd recommend, he said the chicken enchiladas, which I was not disappointed with. The plate was ample size and really didn't need a side dish, but not having dined here before and no one else's plates to look at I decided when asked to get a side and ordered the Platanos Maduros (Plantains). Very good but I had to take them home. My husband had the Tacos Trios and selected 2 varieties to try, the classic beef and the Chicken (Tinga) which he loved both. Each he said were different but delicious. He my mentioned that they were nice amount of protein as he usually worries when ordering tacos if they will be hardy portion especially when no sides are included. The chicken Taco had a lot of juice from the chicken, which was nice but be careful when eating not to drip on yourself. He also ordered the cilantro and butter rice which he enjoyed. Cilantro was enough there without being overpowering and nicely buttered. Prices on the sides were very reasonable! Overall a great experience and we definitely would return. They have a very nice outdoor patio which on warmer days would be really nice to sit outside and enjoy the nearby fountain sounds (not sure you'd see them). No service charges here nor difference in cash vs credit and prices for our meals for the amount of food received was a great value. read more

The food is now extremely disappointed and you can tell by how empty the restaurant is and how defeated the wait staff appears (they even sound disappointed when explaining the menu). I try so hard to leave positive reviews for every restaurant I dine at, check my reviews .....The only positive was our server who had to put up with attitudes and frustration from a group of 10 that showed up with a reservation.....Im not looking for a response like come back and help us make it right....I will not be back until you have a full menu, cause in my opinion you are holding folks hostage who come in for a 745pm reservation and dont think they have any other option.....I wish we would have just gone to the noodle bar, which is where we ended up later in the evening anyways! Sitting people down and saying we dont have anything on the menu other than tacos is unacceptable. Just dont open or do a to-go menu...Imagine making a reservation for all your co workers and then sitting down to realize chips and salsa is the best u gonna get tonight. It's completely unacceptable and when we talked to the Manager, he shared our frustration.....At the end of the day what does that do though? It pays the restaurant for sucking and the server, who was awesome and tried to work through it. My husband and I decided to try this place out one night on our way to play cause we were starving and I loved how they have an outdoor area where you can relax and enjoy the weather. There's an outdoor bar available as well. The food was absolutely delicious and they have a nice selection of items to choose from. We went on a Tuesday night and they had a Taco Tuesday special which I highly recommend for anyone to try. The best was their fajita, the meat was so tender and the veggies grilled to perfection. My only complaint about this location is the wait time. We had to wait a while before our waiter came to our table, she was very sweet but I feel she was overwhelmed with the number of tables that she had. It seemed like everyone was very kind to her and understanding though which was nice to see. It would have been nice if they would have given her some help but we had some chips and Salsa to hold us over until our meals came out so it all worked out fine at the end. read more

The place looked nice from the outside as far as decor goes but I was there for the food and that was just overall disappointment. Salsa was watery and chips were on the verge of being stale. The chicken fajita dish had such a weird taste and the chicken looked extremely unappetizing that I only would eat the vegetables and not the chicken, the patatas brava was ok but nothing to rave over and the we had also gotten the plátanos maduro with honey and crema my friend liked it but the crema sauce was so off tasting for me I couldn't eat it. The only thing good was the margarita and wine. So safe to say I would only come for the drinks but given that it's located in the casino I could get a good drink just about anywhere. read more

Taco Tuesday was a nice vibe. There was plenty of seating and friendly servers. Both the outside patio and inside dining area was open. The service was good, there was DJ spinning beats and the energy was high for a Tuesday night -- non-weekend. The food overall was good, no complaints for the most part. Highlights for sure was the Steak Fajitas and Birria Tacos. The Birria tacos were surprising filing and of decent portions. The tacos shells fried and crispy, the meat (steed beef) was very tender with queso cheese oozing out. It was flavorful and well seasoned. The consommé used for dipping the taco, on the other hand, was weak and needs some work. It was a bit watery and bland. Not as rich, flavorful and deep red as I am used to from othe local taco spots around the city. The Street Corn deserves an honorable mention too. As for the drinks, I recommend the Cadillac Margarita. It was strong and on point. The only gripe with Diablo Catina is the price point for me, with the drinks being very pricey. Two drinks can easy run you $30 bucks with extra shots running you close to $11 bucks. Also, the price for street tacos...we'll let just say it comes at a premium. But hey, what can I say, most of the restaurants around Casinos are overpriced and do not always hit the highest marks on the food tip! lol Diablo Catina falls right about in the middle of the scale, with the service, outside patio, vibe and drinks giving the restaurants a bit more extra weight. Definitely a chill spot to relax over decent food. The outside patio is the best seats in the house and perfect for the spring-summer season. We decided to sit at the outdoor bar - there were just enough bar seats for us until everyone arrived. Once we had our first round, we moved to the outdoor lounge. That's when Taco Tuesday got TURNED ALL THE WAY UP!! We had the best service from Mila! She was so awesome and accommodating!! Came to MGM for a show on 3/23! I was able to get a last minute reservation. I was welcomed by the lovely hostess, Idalia, who was nice and accommodating. The decor in the restaurant is beautiful and there is a flower photo wall right outside to take pictures. The restaurant overlooks the harbor as well. The nachos and salsa for the table were delicious and they kept them coming. The menu is limited. Our waitress was attentive. I had the steak fajita which was cooked to perfection.
