Jay is the best bartender at the Harbor - and this isn't up for debate! My friends and I came here randomly after visiting another bar in the area and this should've actually been the first stop! The only thing we (our group of about 6) did not experience here, was the food (the reason why I didn't want to give 5-stars). But if we're talking about entertainment and overall drink-vibe, The Irish Whisper is a cool spot. Aesthetically, it doesn't really match the rest of the surrounding area (if you're familiar - this restaurant is a lot darker and smaller than others) but for a fight night, game night, "I just want to sit at the bar" night, might sure you find Jay, and then have a seat! read more

Came with a group of coaches and enjoyed the time spent here. Place is small with limited seating for larger groups but the staff was awesome and the decor was cool. Drinks were made well. Didn't try any of the food but it looked good as servers brought it out. I'd come back for sure. read more

It was happy hour so prices were low making this a recommendation and a place I would go back to (maybe). This was a last ditch effort to feed sleepy hungry kids after checking into our accommodations. Poor decision picking this place. We got fish and chips because how can you mess that up? Well, I'll tell you how. By having fries that tasted like they were boiled in oil rather than being crispy. Our fries were bathing in oil. Even the kids thought they were bad, and kids eat pretty much any fry. The fish was flavorless, had a ton of batter on them and was also drenched in oil. To top it off... the tartar sauce tasted like sour spoiled store bought. I couldn't recommend this place any less. A positive was the salad. It had actual fresh produce. But this is an Irish pub. Yet another restaurant within walking distance of the Gaylord Hotel and convention center. Looking for a place for dinner we decided to give this place a try. To some up the place in one word, LOUD!! Don't expect to have a nice quiet dinner nor carry on a conversation with anyone unless you expect to yell. The patrons were loud but the music was even louder...turn it down just a notch. The service was good as you had to seat yourself and the waitress was there taking your order within minutes. It took about fifteen minutes from order to food delivery. Food was presented nice and served hot. The fish had a good flavor and was battered lightly. Plenty of waffle fries with the meal. My guest ordered the Sheppard's pie and rated it as the worst she has ever had. Served with hamburger instead of the traditional roast beef. Potatoes on top of the pie were good. Beware a 15% gratuity is automatically added to your bill. Not a fan of the automatic tip! Unfortunately, it is so dark in the place I didn't see it until I got back to the hotel room. Stopped by for dinner tonight - it was rainy, cold, and miserable outside. I fully expected to get either Fish & Chips or Shepard's Pie. Bartender recommended the Chicken Pot Pie. I ordered it and about 4 minutes later it is sitting in front of me. That tells me that it was pre prepared and they only nuked it. To be honest, it tasted, although the portion size was very small. I haven't been so hungry so I got the jumbo pretzel with beer cheese dip/ mustard. You get 2 deliciously buttery pretzels. The cheese dip is great. The mustard is meh. One cousin ordered the burger with a side salad. She enjoyed! My other cousin devoured the chicken pot pie (white meat) plus side salad. No fancy drinks or for any of us. Pepsi/ water/ unsweetened tea. It wasn't so loud so we could actually talk to each other. Had a great server. Menu is limited food wise but there's something for everyone. We were in there on a a Friday afternoon, we had already gone to the bar for our drinks and placed a food order but we watched a minimum of 30 people come in sit down and leave because nothing was ever said to anyone. My group was waiting for 30-40min to get the drinks we had ordered after we initially sat down. The food came out quick, but only after we had to flag down our server after an additional 10min, who was very clearly peeved to have to do their job. I got the Shepard's Pie which was incredibly salty, and sitting in about a quarter inch of grease. Happy to report the other entrees that had been ordered came out tasty though. I came across this place randomly while passing by on a Monday afternoon. As you walk in, you have to place your order at the bar and find your own seat. The food will be delivered once it is ready, and your drinks will be made on the spot. We ordered the fish and chips and the pretzel. We also had a beer and a mule. Their food portions were large. One order of food is good enough for two people to munch on. Honestly, we were full and couldn't finish the food we ordered. The pretzel was warm, soft, and large. The fish and chips were really good. I'm usually not a fan of fish and chips, but this was pretty decent. The fries were waffle fries and were crunchy and flavorful! Shoutout to our local community heroes here at The Irish Whisper. They helped celebrate the hubby's birthday and took good care of the crew. We ordered chicken pot pie which came with the most awesome puff pastry top that is used as the lid of the savory pot pie!!! Layers so delicate and airy! Like watching a dandelion being blown into the wind.... did I bite it? Well the evidence of yummy crumbs on my lips said "yes" and it was not a dream!! Then I had the fish and chips! Generous portions of each. The waffle fries were a nice texture and dipped in to the malt vinegar like nooks and crannies on an English muffin! I loved the tangy vinegar. The creamy coleslaw hit the spot and I loooooved that it did not have celery seeds! A little bit of the Irish on Saint Patrick's Day eve was a piece of gold in the pot!!! Happy people and happy food. Nice Bar Room Hard to rate a place for pouring a drink out of a bottle. Enough of a selection of scotch, whiskey, bourbon and beer on tap. Good, but not too impressive. Not much food, beef and cabbage and pot pies. The room has the requisite deer head. Darts (for ambiance more than use-they are plastic and don't stick well) and lots of nice wood. Came in during happy hour which offers 50% off draft beer, wine and food. Great deal honestly. I had the Guinness and it was one of the best ones I've had stateside. It's pretty cold inside so dress appropriately (low 60's outside and felt colder inside somehow). Have to find an opening at the bar in order to place a drink and or food order which is a little bit of a inconvenience and probably annoying for the patrons sitting at the bar. I had the shepherds pie and my wife had the chicken pot pie. Both were warm at best. Mine was incredibly greasy but had good flavor. My wife's meal was boarder line gross. This was the best place we visited while in National Harbor for a conference. The atmosphere is homey and cheerful, the food is delicious, and Jay the bartender is so welcoming and friendly. Great Irish-inspired bar! Loved the vibe of this bar with the stone fireplace, darn wood benches and hearty menu items. Staff was friendly from the get-go. We started with the loaded fries and they were delicious. Although it might have been the potent sweet tea vodka / lemonade cocktail I was drinking, but we'll still say they were delicious. My husband and I have been going to Irish for a couple of years now, ever since we moved to Maryland. The chef does a great job creating a menu that complements the drink selection. One of the main reasons that I continue to frequent the establishment is because of two bartenders that treat me with extraordinary respect and friendliness. Beyond formal hospitality, they genuinely care about my well being and I reciprocate the sentiment. The bar patrons are quite friendly, a nice mix of locals and regulars with those who are visiting for conferences and vacations. I'd talk up the availability of the dart board, but I'm no good at the game. Just know that it is there. I noticed recently that the chef will do a catered event for smaller parties within the establishment. There's also an intimate patio with heaters for those who like to enjoy the outdoors. It's a great hang out, especially the outdoor seating. I tried their Irish Nachos, discounted between certain hours, and I was not a fan. They are waffle fries with cheese, salsa, guacamole and beans. Yes, beans. The waffle fries get soggy and the beans just seemed like a conflict of interest. I really wanted to like this place, but sadly it was a big disappointment. I ordered a Guinness, and just assumed it would be a pint (this is supposed to be an Irish pub after all) and it was just a 12 oz glass. My Shepherds pie was just OK, and it looked like it was an appetizer portion for $16. 2 people at the table got Fish & chips, and there were just 3 small pieces. Oh and by the way, Shepherds pie is made with lamb, you are serving cottage pie. read more
