We went to Rosaria for the first time last night and it definitely will not be our last. In fact can't wait for the outside dining area to open. The hostesses were wonderful, loved the bar, could have enjoyed dinner there without going into the dining room. Bar staff was so nice and accommodating. Glad we did though. Michelle served our table and we had such fun with her. She is very knowledgeable and really cared about our experience. Everything was wonderful, except my steak was a little overcooked. They wanted to cook me a new steak but actually shared with others at the table to save time. They did compensate us in the end, although we didn't expect it. Dessert was amazing, we all ordered different items and shared. My only criticism was the live music was a little loud for the dining room. Other than that...... Will be back. A very good surprise. Excellent food and great service. A steak house with an Italian flair. Comparable to Boston steak houses. We both had filet cooked as ordered.My husband had the lobster carnonnara which he said was delicious. Caprese salad was excellent. Impressive wine list. I recently attended a function and was quite impressed with the décor, food and quality of service. There is even an outdoor patio with a waterfall. One of the staff, Cheryl went over and above to take care of all our needs. She helped make the event very special for my family. I will definitely be back in the future. Recently back again. Sat at the bar with a friend. Atmosphere and and service was excellent. I had the grilled oysters for an appetizer - OMG - highly recommend!!! For dinner I had the veal chop. Let me just say you could cut this with a butter knife it was so tender. I loved it so much I was talking about it the next day to my wife and co-workers. My friend had the NY Sirloin. I love Rosaria, have been there many times. However, went again recently and they took off two of my favorite sides when ordering steak. I loved to go here to get the whipped potatoes with mascapone cheese and they took that off of the menu. Also, I use to get this delicious wine sauce for my filiet and that was gone too! Rosaria, don't mess with a good thing! I was so disappointed that those two accompaniments were taken off of the menu. We really wanted to like this place. The marble staircase, dark wood paneling and warm hostess station started off fine. Very loud with party of 12 nearby...returned to nice noise level once group departed. Waitress energetic and friendly...and would check on us frequently...however she never seemed to stay long enough to hear what we had to say before she was off to another table. If the objective of Rosaria is to present a Boston-type steakhouse in the suburbs...a couple of things stands in its way: Minor requests that would be accepted, in our experience, with simple accommodation turned out to be more complicated: 1. Could you divide the salads in the kitchen?...NO...we are too busy, its a Saturday night and if we did, there would be an UPCHARGE....(and it was not busy) 2. Chicken picatta...ordered with request for extra capers...came out with 4 capers total...we counted them...when brought to waitress' attention...she said she had asked for them...went into the kitchen...came out with a small container of capers...and stated that there is usually an UPCHARGE for this (there's that word again) 3.An UPCHARGE for extra anchovies on Caesar salad 4. An UPCHARGE to swap out a side accompaniment on the entrée plate. The manager was gracious enough to come to our table where we shared the above. Somewhere in the conversation it came out that the chef sets the prices for the menu items...thus the reason for UPCHARGES. We suggested that the restaurant raise its prices enough to accommodate such requests as so many other restaurants already do. We were offered coffee/ tea on the house which we accepted as well as a round of Limoncello, which we declined, So...this may not seem like much of a big deal...and its not. But a bunch of little deals may keep us from returning. read more

We went expecting an Italian menu or at least something Italian on the menu. I believe it is owned by the Pace family which is all about Italian. There was nothing italian on it. It is very very very very expensive. Lobster pie and filet mignon was $56. baked potato was $8. Everything is a la carte. Needless to say we weren't paying this amount of money. This is a restaurant above a grocery store and in the same building as a VFW. We ended up with french onion soup $8, not bad but my crouton tasted burnt in some places, the brusell sprouts side dish was good and a big portion, i think this was $9. My husband got the lobster mac and cheese for $14. He said it didn't have much taste and not a lot of lobster. On the positive side, the drinks were good and reasonably priced, the service was great and it is a pretty restaurant. We won't be going back unless they add some affordable options and some Italian food. I really can't see this restaurant lasting unless they change some things. read more

Rosario reminds me of Jay Gatsby: all pretense, no substance. High prices, linen tablecloths and pretentious staff do not a fine dining experience make. The bottom line is both the quality of the food and the cost relative to the experience. Rosario fails, miserably, on both counts. The salads are small. My wedge salad was two skimpy pieces of iceberg, surrounded by several cherry tomatoes cut in half, and some bacon pieces (compared to the Capital Grill, whose wedge stands about five inches high), what a disappointment. The menu states that steaks are served with a chef's selection of vegetables. Well, the chef must have been pissed at us because our selection was several green beans, a piece of cauliflower and a piece of squash. The available sides weren't much better. We found the hostess and waitstaff to be aloof and haughty. Painfully long waits between courses, without bringing clean tableware or cleaning up the previous course's crumbs; never asked for another drink; and prices that belong in a Boston steak house. If you are going to charge city prices the food, and experience, better be great...this wasn't! I will say that my wife's filet was cooked perfectly, BUT, how can you call yourself a steakhouse when you don't even offer bernaise sauce? Please! I'll still shop downstairs where I can get one of the best burgers in the area, and the food is good in both quality and value; but I'll not be stopping back upstairs again. read more

I came here last year for my moms birthday. We were a party of 10 and we were seated in a private room off the bar. Usually if you are paying more for a private room it shouldn't be located next to the noisy bar with a sliding door. Nonetheless, the place is pretty. We all order some things for the table, drinks take 20 minutes - were next to the bar. Unfortunately for the wait staff that was taking care of us, he didn't have any help. He has to make numerous trips out the door to the noisy bar, the room is burning hot and there is 0 ambiance in this room. It felt like this is where they kept the extra tables and chairs if there was a shortage and they just cleaned it up for one night. The waiter was nice just not efficient. After drinks appetizers took even longer we pass things along to ourselves family style - this is restaurant service? He brought out cake without proper cutlery and was looking for a knife for 20 minutes. I wanted to get out of there so bad I cut the cake myself. He came back realized we'd helped ourselves and asked if we wanted a box for the rest of the cake. Another 20 minutes for a box - MY GOD how painful this dinner was. We had a reservation for 6 and didn't leave until after 9. The food is not up to par for the price tag whatsoever. What was supposed to be an hour long dinner was over 3 hours. I don't know about anyone else but when I go out to eat I want to eat and go about my life. If they would like to be recognized as a mediocre steak house they should hire more staff. First time dinner party of four tonight. Location and ambiance are great. I wasn't impressed by the snooty attitude of the hostesses upon check in for our reservation. Booths are round shaped and nice, interior looks great. Three of us ordered filets, two well and one medium. The other dish was chicken piccata. I ordered a side of Yukon mashed (served family style). Drinks were slow to come (not overly busy tonight - not sure if this was because it was the day after Christmas).The food came out, hot and well presented. Two of the filets were well and the third which was supposed to be medium but was very well done also. It was sent back and when it returned the person who brought it over (no identification of who she was, but was not our server) asked that it be cut to be sure that it was cooked right. I felt that her attitude was standoffish at first, when our guest cut the filet, everyone including the woman who brought it over was shocked that it was pretty raw, her attitude changed real fast when she saw that it was not cooked correctly again. To her credit she apologized and took it back quickly. It returned approximately 5-7 minutes later and on the next cut was better but not quite medium. Our guest was so hungry he just ate it. Also, the Yukon mashed were served as fingerling like potatoes- not mashed at all. The chicken piccata was noted to be excellent. Again, on our next round drinks were slow to the table. Other than this it was pretty standard dining, I was not overly impressed. With the moderately high pricing I expected a lot more. In the same price range, there are many better options. Pellana Prime Steakhouse in Danvers is the place to go. You will not be disappointed. I really wanted to enjoy Rosaria but just wasn't impressed. I read bad reviews, but decided to give it a try. The ambiance, including patio with waterfall was great. The food was wonderful, with a vast wine menu. Everything was great until the end of the meal. We asked for the leftovers to take home. It was about a total of a whole filet mignon ($40), two halves to be precise. The waitress gave us a package with a small piece of someone else's steak. This was after she had received a generous tip. The manager made good with a new steak to go, but the evening was already destroyed. This is totally inexcusable, especially at their prices. I was disappointed to realize the dining room workers speak little to no English... My husband asked the girl if she could bring over more rolls...She couldn't comprehend. This was the second time at Rosaria's. The first was on a weeknight and was lovely. This was not the case on Saturday. We were seated at 7:120 for our 7:00 PM reservations. Not unexpected on a Saturday night. We were brought to a table which was the only table that had not been carved out in the area for a very large crowd. Even so, there were a huge pile of coats. I was pretty sure we were not the first party offered the table. The hostess understood and comp'ed drinks for us at the bar, which was nice. We were seated at 7:45 at a nice table. Unlike the last time, the restaurant was very loud. We ordered appetizers, wine, entrees and sides. The appetizers were fine and on time. I ordered my steak medium rare and it arrived raw. I asked for it to be cooked further and it return charred on the outside. The other meals were fine, although the other member of the party who also had steak found the cut underwhelming. The Seafood dish was excellent and the scalloping was also very good. Somewhat ironic at a steakhouse that the best meals were not from the grill. Our sides never arrived. We finished with dessert and coffee. All in all, not a great experience. It is a lovely place, but Rosaria falls short even of mid tier steakhouses. Two stars because food was good but service was a disaster. We gave this place another chance after mixed experiences from our family and friends. It was a Friday night in December and I can expect a little distraction because of the holidays. But we were standing at the hostess stand and this hostess, who was skinny as a rail, saw us standing in front of her and did not even bother to greet at us but continued to play or text with her cell phone. My girlfriend almost said something when this hostess finally decided to talk and instead of greeting us she asked "Do you guys have a reservation"? I said no, but we still can eat here right? (sarcastic). She replied that she was going to check for a table and set us at a booth for two near the patio entrance. Our waitress, Roxeanne was nice at the beginning, but later on, she became a disaster. We ordered Burrata and Grilled Oysters for appetizers and Salmon and NY Sirloin for main courses. We were not even done with appetizers when the cart comes pushing our entrees. Seriously??? Is the kitchen in a rush or our waitress wants us out of here? Our table is not even big enough to fit four plates. So we asked our waitress to send our entrees back. later on, she became more confused and while on the weeds, she served my wine glass at the next table and obviously forgot to give me mine. We told another blonde waitress to remind her about my wine, which finally came right on time before main course. Salmon (appear to be wild fish, not farm raised) and NY Sirloin were great, steak was perfectly cooked, flavorful and juicy. After we were done with our entrees, here comes our beloved waitress Roxeanne again, who asked how dinner was. She got our compliments for the food, none for the service. Then, the next disaster, she dropped the check without asking if we wanted desserts or coffee. My girlfriend was furious but I calmed her down: "Leave the poor waitress alone, maybe she had a rough day". So we paid the check and left, and since my girlfriend paid, she probably stiffed her. Hopefully, if we decide to come back, we can request a waitress who is both, physically and mentally on board, becasue this one wasn't. We first sensed red flags and felt something was up when my wife and I walked in on a Saturday night at 630 and there were only about 3 parties eating in the entire main dining room. The decor and ambiance like I said is impressive,with the wait staff aren't entice however the food was absolutely mediocre at best. The mushroom crustini was cold on the inside, the salad was soggy with the amount of dressing they put on it and the entrees tasted like they ran downstairs and grabbed them frozen from j paces rather than make it fresh. We have been to Rosaria 3 times. The first time we sat in the bar and had no problem, however, the second and third time we sat in the dining room. This is supposed to be a high end steak house. I had my sisters bridal shower here on august 6th 2017. The space we rented out, which was the front dining area and the patio, were perfect for what I had envisioned. My coordinator, Brittany, whom had helped me weeks in advance go over everything I needed to know for a cocktail style shower, was amazing. She helped me with every detail of the floor plan and sectioned it out perfectly to acquire the amount of people I had coming. She did everything from moving tables around to show the look and communicating with me with color schemes, to going over every food item to make sure we had enough food and the best choices. The day of the shower, they did anything they could do to help, and welcomed everyone and made it feel very comfortable. The amount of compliments I had received from the shower that day was incredible. I can't thank brittany and the staff at rosarias enough for the wonderful hospitality and professionalism they had given to me, my family and friends. The space is beautiful, the patio is breathtaking, especially on a perfect 75 degree, sunny, august day, and the food was delicious. I'm way over due writing this review so my apologies to everyone hesitating to try this fantastic restaurant. I went here for their New Year's Eve celebration and took 2nd seating to ring in the new year there. First in just the booking process alone the service was fabulous. They were more than willing to hold a large table for us, until I could find out if my sister and her husband were joining us. When you arrived the place was decked out from top to bottom with streamers, balloons, and masks. The band was absolutely amazing and the singer was spot on with some great 80's, 90's, and current music choices. Let's get to the food, can you say; BY FAR the BEST Filet I've ever had. This was a 5 course meal and from the apps to the main dish, to the tasty high end desserts, I can't say enough about it. Top quality and amazing service, AND - at a very reasonable price per person. I'm not trying to bash the large event place that we all know, up Rt 1 on the south bound side, but they've got nothing over Rosaria's in terms of food quality, and service. Plus Rosaria's has much better atmosphere, attention to every detail, and a price tag that will make you smile. Their wait staff that night didn't miss a heart beat and there were a ton of them so your table got all night attention. We all arrived, checked in with hostess and waited in bar. 45 minutes later had to ask about table status, and then were seated. Waited 15 minutes for waitress to take drink order, had to ask for bread, another 15 mins to take appetizer order. Disappointed in 2 of 3 apps we've had in past (scallops wrapped in prosciutto were tiny and overcooked, crispy calamari was greasy). Owner came around, complained the chef quit night before and comped our 1st round drinks and apps. We went here to celebrate our 10th anniversary. When we arrived for our reservation we were asked to wait in the bar while they got our table ready. Before our drinks even arrived they came to get us for our table. The place is beautiful and our waitress was friendly. The Caesar salad was swimming in dressing & there were many wilted pieces of lettuce. The jumbo lump crab cakes had very few pieces of crab, they were mostly filling. The lobster macaroni and cheese was not edible, it not only smelled fishy it tasted horrible. Although the filet mignon was cooked perfectly it was cool, but it was the only part of the meal that we enjoyed. Beautiful looking restaurant. However, they have very inconsistent food. When they first opened everything was great. They were over staffed and the service and food were on point. Over the next year they very quickly went downhill. The waitstaff became one of the worst in any restaurant I've been in. Empty-headed female bartenders who more than once have forgot to put my order in and enjoy talking more than making drinks. And the food has become average at best. Word has it they have a tough time keeping chefs and good waitstaff around for long. All this and it's also very expensive. Won't be surprised if it's not around much longer. read more

My husband and I have been looking for a new favorite restaurant since Abfab in Melrose closed. This is it. Grilled oyster appetizer was cooked and seasoned perfectly and there were SIX oysters, not the measly three in most restaurant apps. Watermelon martinis are served in a small amount in a chilled martini glass with skewered watermelon chunks; the remainder of the drink stays in a long slim glass, sitting in a glass ice bucket. Perfection. The bolognese is sublime. It is exactly how a bolognese should be: rich and mellow with deep flavors of tomato, meat, and cheese. I just passed out thinking about it. My husband's sirloin was cooked and seasoned perfectly (med rare) but the veg were sparse. Ala carte whipped potatoes and fresh broccolarabe made up for them. I wanted to stick my face into the potatoes. They had fontina in them. I just passed out again. And then, the best waitress I have ever had the pleasure of meeting - Marissa!!! - brought our dessett. Cannoli. Canolli? Doesn't matter. Crunchy, fresh shell, cheese not too sweet and so so smooth. Plate driz sorry. I keep passing out. Drizzled with chocolate. All food and service were impeccable. I may get a job there just to be near the delicious food. Aaand the place is GORGEOUS. I visited Rosaria on a recent Sataurday night. This was my second go around. The place is stunning (thus the 2 stars) and no expense was spared in the design and decor. Unfortunatey that was where it ended. My daughter and I sat at the bar and ordered drinks. It took awhile for the bartender to even take our drink order. We both had martini's. Mine was alright. My daughters however was undrinkable. It tasted like something a college kid might make with cheap vodka in a frat house. Imagine a drink that is undrinkable at an upscale steakhouse? Next up we decided to order a few "snacks". This was at 6:30 on a Saturday. We ordered the Lobster Mac & Cheese and a Caesar Salad. I wasn't ready to make a $47 investment in steak just yet. The server came back and said they were out of LM&C? Really....the only pasta dish on the menu and you are out of it on a Saturday @ 6:30? We cancelled the caeser salad, paid the tab and left...with a whole drink on the bar. The gentlemen next to me ordered a Crown on the rocks. The bartender said "we are out of Crown Royal". I don't think the 99 would run out of Crown Royal....just saying. This place needs to regroup. It seems to have declined since opening. By now they should be in a groove. The potential is there but it needs to take a time out and figure out what it wants to be. read more

I've been here a few times now and I have to say last night was such a great experience. I live in the area but own a salon in Newton, so I wanted to treat my staff to a good holiday dinner. We had reservations last night and everyone was raving about the place today at work. We were able to sit in a private room with a beautiful round table and enjoy each others company. Our server was Julie H and she was the best waitress I've had in a while anywhere. She was very attentive, friendly and had a great personality. She never rushed us once. The food and drinks all came out in a timely manner throughout the night. We had lost track of time and even thought they had closed and we were still chatting over dessert not once did we feel the rush to leave. We got the fried calamari, antipasto, filet mignon with mashed potatoes and grilled shrimp entree, tiramisu and cheesecake. Everything was perfect. I'm so happy that the experience went this way and the girls enjoyed themselves after traveling 30+ minutes to come to the restaurant. Great food, wine and service. We held our oldest daughter's college graduation celebration dinner at Rosaria's this past weekend and I can honestly say that they lived up to my expectations. The planning was a breeze. Nicole was a pleasure to work with and was so accommodating and responded to any and every request/ question in a timely and professional manner. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the patio, grounds, landscaping and waterfall are gorgeous. We took countless pictures of our graduate surrounded by her friends and family and the flowers and waterfall were the perfect backdrop. The food was plentiful, delicious and fresh and our server Jessica was efficient, responsive, friendly and never intrusive. I took a leap of faith as I had never been to Rosaria's prior to our event and after reading the reviews I was a little nervous but there really was no need to be.
