They are often working behind the counter and like to talk sports or whatever with the customers. Really make you feel at home. I don't know why this place is so addictive, maybe it's the Italian Staff Serving what we think is Italian Pizza or it's the fact it's a great spot to grab lunch that even people from businessmen to college students to tourists come by and wait in a long line to get a slice of the pie (Pizza that is!)... Rosa's is a favorite lunchtime stop for me and scores of others who invade downtown each workday. This is not New York pizza however it is very good pizza made with a strong New York influence. I have enjoyed Rosa's for over 15 years. The pizza is foldable and thin like the corner joints in NYC with good flavor but made with less cheese and less sauce. Certain toppings are fees like mushrooms, broccoli, and spicy sausage. However I would stay away from the spinach. Rosa's is probably the best pizza spot in the downtown area. read more

I was at work and hungry. I walked out at lunch time to wander the local restaurants with the other on lunch break and the local college students. So line were long, which want I needed something that was budget friendly and lines that moved quickly. I chose Rosa's pizza and the line was wrapped. When you come in and it's busy be sure to ask where the line starts, because at lunch it can be wrapped to start all the way next to the cash register. The entrance is a narrow space and you order from the gentleman at the glass window area. Most seem to order Calzone or pizza slices. There was a special for 2 slices and a dink during lunch. I ordered a slice of cheese and a slice of pepperoni. By the time the lunch line moves forward and you pay my lunch was ready. There is a small seating area to eat it'll you choose, but most seem to take their food to go. I've already been back since my first trip, so this will likely be a return lunch spot for me. read more

Met up with some good folks for the UYE here today. I'll be upfront--this place *probably* loses a star for me just because it's pizza and I'm just not that into pizza. I'm also from the South, so I have no nostalgia for NY-style pizza. And, to top it off, I prefer to eat my pizza with a fork and knife. Okay, so, enough about me. The pizza was pretty good. I had mushroom and sausage. I kind of wish I had gotten the hot sausage because I prefer my pizza a little spicier, and the mushrooms weren't cooked quite enough. It has good balance between crust, sauce and cheese, and it was well seasoned. So, yeah, it was pretty good, but not good enough to make a pizza convert of me. The company on the other hand and the music and break from work on Broad St get five stars, though. :) read more

As a New Yorker, I have to say that Rosa's is my absolutely favorite place to eat pizza in Atlanta. They are so delicious, and worth any line you might stand on for a slice. That said, if you're going for the first time try not to go right during the midst of the lunch rush. The place can get wall-to-wall packed during the week -- although you'll be impressed by how quickly they go through a line that wraps around the joint. When it's your turn (pay attention! it could come faster than you think), shout out your order including any toppings or special instructions (the list of everything is directly above the pizza ovens). You'll also be impressed at how they function as a well-oiled machine in taking orders on the fly; like magic, by the time you arrive at the front of the line to pay, you're dish is ready (or close to it). Toppings are a little expensive depending on how many you add, but they're usually generously slapped on your slice so it's worth it. The salads are also really good, and the canoli's make a great treat for the end (why wouldn't you get pizza AND a canoli?). The owner is usually at the register, he reminds me of a genuine Brooklynite who may or may not be associated with the mob and/or maffia. Everyone who works there is very nice and very friendly (unless of course you come in clueless and hold up the line, henceforth throwing a wrench into the well-oiled machine -- then you get a look, as other reviewers noted). Fast service, great prices and (I'll say it again) delicious food. Perfect spot for a little Italian in your life at lunchtime. If no seats are available inside, grab any one of the outdoor tables on Broad Street (or walk up one block to Peachtree, there is more seating near that park/square right across from Moe's). Parking can be messy downtown, especially when Georgia State is in session and/or it's a weekday, but if you drive around the blocks that surround Broad St., you can usually get lucky. This spot is also within easy walking distance to the CNN/Centennial Olympic Park area. read more

I've been here a few dozen times, but there's only one thing I can review -- the sausage roll -- because I can't come here and not get it. A huge foot-long split hot Italian sausage, smothered with peppers and onions and provolone, wrapped up in pizza dough and baked. Like a calzone on New York crack. It's fantastic. Having lived the majority of my life south of the Mason-Dixon line, I can't say if Rosa's is a "real" NYC pizza point, but it sure feels that way. I mean, this is the kind of place you expect to hear "youse" thrown around a lot. Slices are the thing here and they make for a cheap lunch. I usually can get two and a soda for around $6. This makes Rosa's pretty popular with the GSU crowd, so there's almost always a line (and punk-ass kids trying to cut in). Luckily, with the way Rosa's takes your order, it pretty much thwarts line jumping. Seating is usually a problem, but when the place fills up you have two choices: head down the back stairway to the sorta-secret dining room or head over to Woodruff Park, where plenty of tables and chairs await. Like I said, I can't vouch for the authenticity of the pie here, but my buddy (a former New Yorker) is the one who always suggests Rosa's for lunch. And if it's good enough for him, it's certainly good enough for me. In fact, thanks to Rosa's (and Reuben's Deli right across the street), I feel this part of Fairlie Poplar offers a taste of the Big Apple right here in the Big Peach. read more

We were walking around looking for a quick cheap lunch. Two huge slices did us right. I got a hot sausage and pepper slice while my lady went standard pep. The bread was perfectly crisp on bottom and flaky in the bite. Toppings were not melted into the cheese, which I like. Ahhh....came here with some officemates to get a taste of the closest thing to NY pizza and it didn't disappoint! There's usually a long line when you get there but it usually moves pretty quick! Before you even get in line, look at the menu board and know what you want to order. Once you get to the middle of the line, you are going to be yelled at for your order. I'm ADD at work today and saw a to-die-for picture of lasagna that a friend had cooked, so now I'm craving lasagna. It made me think of Rosa's. They are usually more known for their pizza, which is pretty decent, but for under $6 you can get a heaping slice of lasagna with a small side salad. They offer meat and spinach. You can also buy a half or full tray of the stuff if you need to cater an event. If I worked closer, I'd maybe run down there for lunch. They do close on the early side, so if you want to stuff your face for dinner, best be there before 6. Rating wise, it is probably more like 4.5 stars, but I can't select that. The salad is primarily iceberg, which I don't care for all that much, but the portions are great for the inexpensive price. read more

This place is pretty crowded at lunch time (ie expect a wait). The service is ok, but unspectacular. The seating situation is limited and while busy downright difficult. I have abided much worse in terms of set-up and service for good pizza though. Unfortunately, I do not consider this good pizza. I had 3 slices: one with just pepperoni, one with pepperoni and garlic, and one with hot sausage and garlic. The pizza was thin (which I like), but was a little soggy for my tastes. The garlic was unevenly heaped on the slices so some bites were like eating a spoonful of chopped garlic. I couldn't find a seat inside so I had to eat outside a block away. I did get to enjoy a homeless guy having a rather spirited conversation with himself though. One thing: I saw the sausage rolls and they looked really good. There was a line for a reason. The $6 lasagna was amazing---suprisingly, it took me off-guard---probably one of the cheapest and best lasagna I have ever had! The portions were generous, the sauce was solid and the meat inside was delicious! That was enough food for a lunch but of course, I had to try the pizza. The slice of pepporoni pizza did not disappoint. I mean it wasn't the best pizza I have ever had (New Haven and Chicago), but way better than the chains--and again, the portion was generous. Anyway, so after the debacle that was Mama Mia's, I decided to make my inner foodie feel better by getting a (hopefully) MUCH better slice. OMG! This hit the spot like nobody's business! This place is located downtown on a one way so have fun getting to it by car unless you have a GPS. Once we found Rosa's we were pleased to find a "normal" pizza place. I highly recommend their calzones and if you get pizza, get a small pizza which is still huge, instead of buying it by the slice. There seems to be a difference in quality between the pizza they sell by the slice and the pizza they sell by the pie. The owners are brooklyn natives and the pizza leans to the New York side of the spectrum but isn't the stereotypical New York style. This isn't really a place for a fine lunch like a Fritti. I love it because: 1) thin & crust 2) you can pick the toppings, my favorite is spinach+mushroom+sun dried tomato 3)fresh from the oven 4) cheap, the portion is generous 5) fast 6) friendly and fun crew 7) they offer a huge variety of seasonings... and this list never ends. Rosa's has probably the best crust for pizza sold by the slice in Atlanta. It was crispy, yet not too charred. I appreciate the fact that the pepperoni was slightly thicker than most, but not too much. The cheese and sauce was very good, just not extraordinary. Rosa's is, after all, known for their crust. The slices were huge and the lunch was very affordable. $6 for two slices and a drink (tax included). Went to this place bc I was having a pizza craving and I saw really good reviews here on Yelp. I told the guy what I wanted and he immediately started adding toppings to a pre-made cheese pizza. I so wanted to give them 5 stars based on the glowing reviews that drew me in today at 234pm. I went in to grab the special for 6.50( 2 slices 1 topping and a fountain drink (tax included)). I ordered 1pepperoni and one ground beef. Both were quite tasty. Light on the tomato sauce, heavy on the cheese, and not stingy with the one topping. Greasy yes, but its pizza right?!?. Crust consistency was thin and the end of it was crunchy, but I enjoy thin crust so I was okay with that. As for seating, there were about 8 tables total, so it seems like a place to come in grab your pizza and hit the door. Would I come here again, maybe if i was already in the area and had a taste for good cheap pizza. So, was it good, sure, was it great... New York style pizza, second time visiting this restaurant. They have a menu posted above the cash register with four combo specials. As soon as you walk in they quickly ask you to order. You look at the combo menu above the register and order what you see, a food item and a drink. I ordered a #4 which shows a Gluten Free 10" Cheese Pizza and a fountain drink. Once I reached the register to pay, they told me that they charge separately for the drink, even though it is pictured together with the food item, under one price: $5.50 If you look at the posted combo menu closely, you will notice the fine print beneath each selection, indicating that drinks are sold separately. My #4 combo was not $5.50 as pictured in the menu. I ended up paying $7.90 for my order. read more

I've never had real New York pizza, so I can't say anything about that. But the pizza here is great! You can order it by the slice with just cheese, or any toppings you want. I think the whole pizzas might be a little expensive, but this isn't Papa John's $10 pizza. This pizza is really fresh and really good! There is seating in the back, but I kind of felt like I was in their stock room because they have all their boxes and crap in the back. It really isn't a big deal though...they don't seem to have much room, because it's just a little hole in the wall, but that's where you find the best food! I swear they have some kind of fan blowing the smell of the garlic and sauce and pizzas cooking out onto the sidewalk, because you can't walk down Broad street without smelling it and then somehow you are standing in line ordering! When I was a student at GSU, they fed me at least once a week. This place has some of the best, cheapest pizza in town. You just can't beat 2 huge one topping slices of pizza and a drink for 6.25. There is generally quite a long line from the businesses and students on campus, but it moves incredibly fast so if you only have time for a quick break between work or classes you'll still get out on time. The pizza is simple but delicious and well made. You see them throwing the pies up in the air right in front of you when they're busy and can watch them put your slices in the oven so you know it's hot and fresh. There are tons of choices for toppings, and they're consistently fresh and high quality- none of that big chain pizza grossness. The management is always very nice and it feels like a family-run business, which I really enjoy. This is definitely worth a try if you're on Broad Street. read more

After reading the reviews, I stopped by for lunch. The pizza doesn't look that great, but it tastes AMAZING. I got their special: 2 slices and a drink for $6 (with tax). I had spinach on one and feta on the other. They don't skimp on the toppings, and the pizza tastes great. The crust is just the right amount of crispy, the toppings are tasty, and the sauce must be wonderful, because although the pizza didn't really look different than a Sbarro or something, it tasted wonderful. SO GOOD. Added bonus: Random picture of actors who portray Mafia figures on the wall. Think Sopranos meets Goodfellas meets Scarface. Awesomely tacky. One warning: the place gets slammed for lunch so go early or be prepared to stand in line. read more

This stuff is great New York style pizza. Dont be afraid of the line that will be stretched out the door. The line moves quick. Tons of random ingredients and the guy puts a lot on. The crust is good and crunchy. Inside is a bit small and loud so I recommend taking the meal outside and enjoy the weather. They do take credit cards despite some of the other reviews. This is Atlanta pizza by the slice at its finest. The lunchtime crowd can get kinda large, but for $6.25, two one topping slices and a drink is worth the wait. Surrounded by Georgia State and downtown business, you'll get a nice mix of people. The staff is fun, efficient and consistent. It feels like a family run business. It is exactly what a pizza place should feel like. Is the inside pristine and clean? No - but I think it adds to the charm. They don't skimp on the toppings. You'll leave full. Maybe too full.
