I'm very impressed! They have amped up their pizza selection and I am loving it. Pizza options are amazing, and they are fresh and hot when they prepare it. Everything was flavorful and prepared well. Pepperoni slice had the cup pepperoni crispy and spicy. Chicken slices were overloaded with tastey chicken covered in the right amount of sauce. Eggplant slice was flavorful, not bland at all. Garlic knots were huge but so light and filled with garlic flavor. Space is a nice size of you want to sit and the staff are all super friendly. Stopped in for lunch and had a slice of their grandma's pizza and a regular slice. The grandma's slice was pretty good with a great sauce/cheese ratio. The regular slice was good also. The service was great and very positive. They have a nice seating area to eat the various things they have to offer. All in all, the pizza was good in a classic NY way. read more

First time having Rosa's I think! Called to order a grandma pie and it was ready in the time they said it would take so no issues there! I can't remember if they didnt cut the pie at all or it was cut into large slices that we had to cut it some more when we brought it over to our friends home. I placed a large order through a third party delivery service. After the order was canceled, the restaurant called me directly to explain why. They told me a bicycle courier had been assigned and that they prefer vehicle deliveries for larger orders because pizzas can shift during transport, sauces can leak, etc. I mentioned I had experienced this before with another delivery, where the cheese and toppings slid to one side of the box and I had to request a refund. They completely understood and said that's exactly why they prefer vehicle deliveries. What impressed me most was how they handled the situation. Rather than simply sending food they believed might arrive in poor condition--or just canceling the order and leaving it at that--they took ownership of the situation. They called to explain what happened, made an exception to deliver to my area even though it's normally outside their delivery range, ensured the food arrived in great condition, and included complimentary garlic knots for the inconvenience. The food was excellent, but the customer service stood out even more. They communicated clearly, cared about the customer experience, and went above and beyond to make things right. This is the 3rd location of Rosa's pizza i've visited and each one is a little bit different. When it comes to actual offerings, taste and availability, they are all sorts different. The staff at all of them are super nice and really great at giving suggestions. I went with a regular slice, a spinach pinwheel, and tne of the mini chicken parm sandwiches. On the quest this trip for the best pizza this one takes the cake! Not only was it the best this trip but it was the best I've had to date in my life. We got a variety of Sicilian as well as their regular style pizza and after getting a slice of each we went back for more. The Sicilian was the best pizza I've had. You have to get both types pictured because they each offer a little different thickness but both equally are amazing and the sauce was a little different on each as well in both very good ways. They put as much focus on the sauce and toppings as well as the crust which from our NYC experience is rare you either like one or the other with the different types until we ate here! We wanted to try so many more things here but were so full. The guy in the back they kept calling uncle sal appeared to be the talent of this operation and he has mastered his craft! This was the Rosas location of middle village queens FYI. It was so worth the hour trip from midtown where we stayed! There was a rosas near penn station and 34th but the quality wasn't nearly the same. It also was the location of where they shot scenes from the show billions if you are into that kind of thing. The place offered seating and comfortable pizza parlor vibe and didn't have all the hustle and bustle of downtown. This was also the cheapest pie we had on our visit as well. So much bang and flavor for your buck! This is very bittersweet as they have set the bar extremely high and will be hard to top. We will continue to visit every-time we're in town. We truly wish we had this back home in Cincinnati. We thanked them and expressed how much we loved it on the way out and he smiled, said thank you, and wished us well. read more

Would be 0 if yelp allowed it. $31 for burnt pizza, $31 for sour service by the young cashier, $31 for the pizza guy arguing with me over whether the pizza was burnt (meanwhile the OTHER pizza guy there was agreeing with me before his coworker started arguing). First of all, they have terrible customer service. I had my pizzas delivered and when I opened the pizza, they were smushed to one side, mangled, and cheese and sauce everywhere. I called them up thinking I'd get an apology, but no, I was met with somebody rude and who obviously doesn't care about the customer. Second of all, the pizza was subpar. I tried eating the parts without cardboard and it tasted terrible. Even drowning it in Tabasco or garlic powder couldn't mask the taste of this dreadful pizza. I've heard amazing things about this place, so imagine my reaction when I tried my very first slice that was greatly anticipated and it was DISGUSTING!! After removing about 165 pieces of onions on top of my vegetable slice, there wasn't only still 100 more pieces of onion, but the rest of the vegetables were raw and gigantic and the slice just reeked like an onion! Pizza quality has fallen down a slippery slope. I used to have it back in 2009 when it was dine-oh-might! Either they have changed the recipe or they stopped caring. Carlos is giving them a run for their money. In addition, pizza is a pretty competitive business today and there is nothing that sets this establishment apart from any of the other dozens of joints around us. Nonetheless, the grandma slice and Sicilian are pretty good. Head to head on the slice of life meter, Carlos is much better and are reasonably priced. Rosa's is lackluster now. $17 for a pie?!?!?! Rosa's pizza has been a Queens staple for years. While they are not in my area of Queens they are across the street from our favorite bagel shop. Their pizza is just OK. I've had their regular slice and their Sicilian upside down slice. The Sicilian slice is by far better then their regular slice. It was while sampling their pizza that I realized their crust was the best part of their offerings. When I found out that they would sell me just a dough for $3 I started making my own pizza at home. So this is more of a review of their dough. I use my own sauce and cheese. The sauce at Rosa's was never to my liking and it gave my wife agitta. I have a large sheet pan that makes a perfect Sicilian pie. I'm not going to go into a pizza making lesson here. But while you're eating a slice at Rosa's make sure to pay attention to how flavorful their crust is. I think it's the best part of their pizza. Now if the old man who owns the place were a little friendlier the dining experience there would be nicer. His kids are much more pleasant to deal with. Your results may differ. read more

I heard so much about this chain of Rosa's pizza for years already. I was always curious why several Forest Hills residents make the trip to go here in the next town over vs the ones in Forest Hills. Order a large pie with 1/2 and 1/2 toppings. Tried their grandma pizza as well. Both had a very generous portion of cheese. I enjoyed both the pie and grandma here but I have to say, my usual FH pizzeria is still the best in the area but they close on Sundays now. Rosa's is a great Sunday backup plan. read more

I love the Rosa's on Freshpond Rd, and I live closer to the one on Metropolitan Ave. I've given them chance after chance to get it right, today was the last and final straw for me. All I got was a chicken roll and an order of garlic knots. The chicken roll was a bit decent, however, when I bit into the garlic knot, the amount of oil that came out was astounding. The oil dropped all over my chin and onto the plate. Then I looked at all of the other knots and one by one picked them up and squeezed them with my hands, and the oil poured out. I was disgusted. I couldn't finish them because of how oily they were. The staff doesn't care. I rather drive to the one on Freshpond for great food and service than to continue spending my money on this Rosa's. Rosa's is a neighborhood classic! I know people in the area that will argue about which location is the best - 69th Street? Fresh Pond Road? This location? I guess the other locations offer other types of slices not typically featured here.. I don't know.. I don't really care. This place continues the ~40 year tradition well. Rosa's has been my go to pizza place since I was kid. Not this location. The one I went to no longer exists (It's the McDonald's on Grand Ave now). Back in the day, JHS 73 used to let us crazy kids loose on the streets for lunch hour and we'd run down to Rosa's with any loose change we managed to scrounge up. We'd purchase the best Sicilian slices found anywhere. This Rosa's still makes them the same way with the cheese under the sauce (Man I love a corner slice when all that sauce gathers in the corner - perfect last bite, the best!). They make a great eggplant slice, Ceasar salad slice, grandma and sometimes a fresh mozzarella with fresh tomato slice - all are so good! I don't get to come here too often nowadays (once a month. On my "birthday" as my mom likes to say. lol). When I do I usually order some slices to to go, but once in a while its nice to order a couple of slices with a drink, have a seat, and watch the neighborhood people make their way in and out. The vibe may not be overly friendly, but its a good one - it is a Queens one. Perhaps you needed to grow up here to understand. This is a pizza place that has been in the same spot for more than 30 years (the original one was in Maspeth on Grand Ave). They have the selection of pizzas with different toppings like most NY shops - including calzones and sausage rolls, chicken rolls etc. all good. I come here for and always bring back to Florida their Sicilian which is the best Sicilian pizza - theirs is different than what you're used to - their's goes crust, cheese, sauce, then a little sprinkle of Parmesan. I have a very specific palate when it comes to Rosa's. I've never had anything other than their Sicilian and likely won't ever vary my ordering, since I know I've found a winner. The squares are similar to L&Bs with a perfectly crunch crust with sauce ladled over the cheese. Not too shabby for $2.50 per slice. Even though the squares are good, I can understand other people's frustrations. The counter man - an old, half deaf Italian man, is eminently grumpy and difficult to communicate with. Also, the fact that in the 21st century that a popular pizzeria doesn't take credit is ridiculous. Even with that being said, I continue to return to Rosa's because the food is ultimately what matters in a takeout establishment. This place serves pretty good deli style pizza. Unfortunately, we came too late and they didn't have as many pizza options as they would if we were there earlier. Any who, they tried their best to serve what they were able to. We had a plain slice and corner Sicilian slice to share and for the main we ordered their homemade lasagna. The pizza is good with the pretty perfection ratio of cheese to sauce to dough. The lasagna won me for the night. The portion is enough for 2-3 people, the sauce wasn't watery and they had the right amount meat and cheese. I don't think they are a top contender in the pizza world of Queens but I wouldn't mind giving this place another try. read more
