Rose Cafe is a great stop if you're running or walking along the Katy Trail. The cafe itself is also very aesthetic and cute, making it an easy place to pop into for a quick drink or a little treat. Based on the reviews and the menu, I've personally skipped the food since the Asian-inspired dishes don't really appeal to me at that price point. That said, my experience here has always been fantastic because I come specifically for the matcha lattes, which I love. Their strawberry rose matcha in particular is such a treat--the strawberry flavor is bright, refreshing, and a little different from what I've had at other spots. Be warned: it's a small spot that can get very busy, and seating is limited if you're looking to dine in. About half the space is dedicated to seated dining, while the other half is geared toward counter orders to go, with bar seating available on a first-come, first-serve basis. We lucked out and grabbed a couple of bar seats right when we walked in. I was unsure what to order since several items caught my eye. After asking our waitress, she mentioned the quiche was a newer item and tends to sell out, which made it sound like a hot commodity. Speaking from a small sample size, this was the best quiche I've ever had! I thoroughly enjoyed it, and it came with a small side salad that paired nicely. Of course, I couldn't leave without grabbing a couple of pastries to go. I tried the Burnt Cinnamon Croissant and the Chocolate Hazelnut Croissant. It took some time to place an order. I ordered that matcha morning bun and an iced matcha latte while milk. The bun was gushing out green matcha. It was ok. The matcha drink was absolutely disappointing. It literally tasted like drank dyed whole milk. This altogether was for almost 18$. The drink itself was 10$. Gorgeous cafe with a French aesthetic. We dined in with our puppy on a Saturday afternoon. They were packed but we were seated quickly, the tables are very close together and no one minded the pup. Ordered the fried shrimp sandwich - SO GOOD. It comes with a pineapple sauce that brings a bit of heat, the sandwich is great with and without it. Ordered the chocolate croissant to go, it was fresh and well made. Service was slower and water wasn't filled timely as there was only one waiter working 6- tables but we didn't mind, we were dining during prime hours. Removed one star bc the food and drinks are oddly overpriced for the items and portions received. The Rose Café is such a great spot, especially because of its location right on the Katy Trail. It's perfect for people watching, meeting friends before a walk, or grabbing food and drinks afterward. I have only stopped in here for coffee a couple of times. Every time I have gone in I have gotten great service and the coffee line moves fairly quickly. It's a combination of a cafe and restaurant vibe with plenty of outdoor seating. It located right off the Katy trail so you have runners and people using the trail coming in for a post workout drink and snack. I've given this place three chances, and unfortunately, it keeps missing the mark. The iced latte was disappointing every time--no one in our group enjoyed it, and at $9 a cup, that's a tough sell. On my third visit, we switched things up and tried the Butterfly Pea Lemonade, but it was so overwhelmingly tart it was almost undrinkable. That said, the buildout is absolutely stunning--easily one of the best interior designs I've seen from Travis Street Hospitality (or anyone, for that matter) in 2024. The space itself is beautiful, but unfortunately, it seems like they're still ironing out some serious logistical challenges. For a café located in one of the busiest pedestrian areas in the city, it's shocking how poorly the experience flows. Some major issues: The layout doesn't accommodate a line--there's no clear space for customers to wait to order or pick up their drinks. How was this overlooked during such a meticulous buildout? On my first couple of visits, the bar area was cluttered with syrup bottles and other random stuff, making it look chaotic and disorganized for the baristas. On my most recent visit, they seemed to have cleaned it up, so maybe that's a sign of progress. I haven't tried their pastries yet, and they do look promising, so I'd consider coming back just for that. But when your main product is coffee, and you're positioned as a key spot for Katy Trail walkers and Dallas locals, the drinks shouldn't be this bad. Not sure if there's any hope of this place closing and transitioning to a new concept, especially since Travis Street Hospitality has a deal with the Terminal--they also lease the space next door for Le Pasage. But I really want this place to succeed. I'd gladly drop $10 on an iced drink every time I walk the trail--if only it were actually good. read more

First, this is a beautiful little restaurant along the Katy Trail. It's a great place to watch the beautiful people walking on a weekend morning. They also have a takeout service but it was so slow, we had to leave or we would have missed our flight the next day! But we had come for brunch and sat down before the take out debacle. We sat ourselves, which was fine. I ordered a Cafe Americano with 2% milk; the other 2 ordered Paloma's.they were expensive but apparently they were good. The server, who was quite nice, brought me an espresso instead - no hot water added! When she fixed the problem, the drink was tepid. It was also a fraction of the size you get at a coffee shop and cost much more. My wife ordered avocado toast; she said it was good, lots of avocado but nothing special. My daughter and I both ordered Congee, which I love. It was quite good but there was too much chili oil; my daughter couldn't eat it. I finished it but if you order it, ask for the chili oil in the side. Be careful. I'd go back if someone asked me to join them but it's a bit far for us to make it a regular stop. As much as I enjoy the food and ambiance at Rose Cafe, some of the staff are extremely unprofessional. When we arrived, about half of the tables were available, yet the hostess told us it would be a 20-minute wait and suggested that we wait at the bar. After 30 minutes, there were still plenty of open tables, so I asked again if we could be seated. She assured me it would only be a few more minutes, but nothing happened. After waiting for nearly an hour while many tables remained empty, I asked for the third time how it was possible that we still hadn't been seated despite being repeatedly promised a table. Her response was simply, "What's the name on your reservation? I'll try to help you." At that point, I was genuinely confused. After an hour of waiting and multiple conversations, it seemed she had no idea who we were or that we had been waiting the entire time. The experience was frustrating and poorly managed. While the food and atmosphere are great, the front-of-house service needs significant improvement. I hope their management will read this message. read more

I absolutely love this restaurant! I have only eaten here for lunch, but every time it has been delicious! I do wish they'd bring back my spicy beef salad, though... It is the best thing on their menu! But in the meantime, I have tried multiple other things. The Banh Mi is also very, very good! The Rose Chicken salad is delicious and this time I tried the Poké bowl, which was very good, however, I would say in my opinion it needs a little more flavor maybe some crispy garlic chips or some edamame, something... it just needs a little something else. We also tried the Pork Shoulder Bao...yum! Since we were feeling thirsty we also tried a Matcha Latte which was really good and I am sure that my man Rome made it for us. If you haven't met Rome, you need to meet Rome. He's fabulous! The other thing I love about this restaurant is it has indoor and outdoor seating. You can sit at the bar on the inside alleyway of the terminal building or you can sit on the complete opposite side also outside but on the side patio or you can sit inside, which is completely open to the outside or you can sit at the bar...doesn't matter where you said it's all great! read more

First, I want to start off with a positive and share that our server was phenomenal he made the best out of our mediocre experience! The original server, should have checked her bad day at the door and not passed it along to us. Not accommodating and just rude. The food was subpar, and all of the items were not delivered at the same time. My friends ordered a salmon salad. They received the salad portion and 25 minutes later received the salmon which was a tiny filet, not worth the additional $14 price tag. The chicken satay was dry and flavorless, and the lemon grass skewers are a hard pass. This place should stick with coffees, cocktails and MAYBE light bites, if they were prepared elsewhere. Very confused, maybe it's a supplier issue - your kitchen makes some pretty egregious mistakes via allergies, and when pointed out and a new dish is returned, the distain for having to remake something that would quite literally land someone is a hospital is honestly wild (again NOT from our waitress - she was amazing). - I think you would benefit just from allergy training in general - can you make the food even slightly better if the prices are going to be this high? We live 400ft on the trail from this place and we're delighted to finally have a cafe just steps away. The lattes are exquisite! The spring rolls are my favorite dish and my husband loves the banh mi sandwich. The coconut bowl is ok but not my favorite item. Highly recommend any of their pastries, they're all delicious. The service is wonderful every time but just be patient as they get incredibly busy on a nice day and I see they do their best to accommodate everyone. read more

I really wanted to like the Rose Cafe. There are quite a few kinks to work out as they've just opened, and I understand. However, it wasn't a fun experience for us. Pure chaos, treated like we weren't paying customers, waited forever for our pastries, and no one came to wait on us...ever. It's adorable, and you will LOVE the atmosphere--a euro callback where everyone is elbow to elbow in a beautiful environment, right on the Katy trail. The pastries are top notch--we had the matcha morning bun and the maja Blanca. We were obsessed with the maja Blanca. The coffee was really not great...it mostly tasted like milk and syrup and maybe little to no espresso. When we arrived, there was seating on the patio with signage that stated it's for those ordering meals. As we were too late for breakfast, we were planning to just do pastries and coffee, so we sat at the tables inside with no signage. We found someone at the bar who gave us attention and orders (unclear where to order). We waited for a while and got thirsty. After no clarity on where to find water, I asked a lady behind the bar and she mentioned someone would be waiting on us (we'd been sitting already for 30 min and no one ever came to talk to us). After another few minutes, we asked about our pastries and were finally given them. While my husband was doing that, a gentleman came over to tell a lady near me that the tables are for dining customers only. Coffee customers aren't allowed there, so we got up and found seating along the trail. Communication or signage prior would have been helpful (or getting waited on).
