Having had their pastries and treats before, I decided to stop by to get a fuller experience. And I'm so happy I did! Located in the historic Pine Avenue area it offers a very eclectic and artsy approach at life. The coffee here is pretty strong, robust and tasty. The rosemary apricot scone is unbelievably good. The warm fresh chocolate chip cookies are delightful. And the pleasant atmosphere brought on by the baristas are truly something to appreciate. I will definitely be coming back! read more

So, since my original review (right when they opened), a lot has obviously changed - I hate writing a new review of this place and overwriting my only-ever review of the day, but I have to! Even if the food was the same (which it also isn't - for a long time, they only had really good pastries, now they just restarted a weekend-only, delicious brunch menu!), after getting a lot of consistently very good coffee and very good pastries here over the past year, I realized my earlier review was super unfair! Everyone here is super friendly, they make great (and quick!) espressos, cortados and lattes (even if the latter two are absolutely the best with oat milk, and I'm a little sad they charge a slightly-high 85 cents for oat milk, haha. I still take that up-charge pretty often, though.) They also have *extremely* tasty, super-unique orange zest, which you can, and should, get added to your cortado or latte (I'd personally recommend skipping the up-charge for the not-extremely-lavendery lavender latte it's supposed to be for, though, and spend it on oat milk, instead). Their cold brew is also great (and they sell it pre-bottled to-go as well as by the glass!) Their nitro cold brew is so creamy, you'd literally think they'd added cream, by the way. And their pastries are seriously a hidden gem of downtown! (Well, maybe not that hidden - they often sell out by noon...) At least until they sell out each day, they have extremely good cheddar scones, fruit scones, biscuits and house-made jam, chocolate chip cookies, and a curry potato-chickpea hand pie that might be my favorite savory hand pie *anywhere*, almost certainly in Long Beach (sorry, Pie Bar - your dessert pies are the best dessert pies though!) It's quite filling, too! (The dough they use is seriously buttery, in a good way.) They also sell a bottled raspberry hot sauce made with fresh raspberries that goes great on everything (just be careful, freshness-wise, I learned from experience - it's made with fresh raspberries!) But they also just restarted their food menu, and it is also legit. So far, from their current new menu, I've tried the "smoked yellowtail nduja" (literally tastes like an elevated version of the fish schmear from Noah's, plus the bread is from Gusto, so you know that's gonna be tasty - and it's actually a pretty good portion, though it's still a little pricey for what you get); the "shrimp chorizo biscuits and gravy" (definitely worth the price - though I wish the biscuit was *slightly* bigger, as there was a bit of gravy left over at the end, but it was totally filling and tasty enough that I absolutely ate the rest of the gravy by itself. Also a little spicy, by the way, which I personally rather appreciated); and today, their soft scrambled eggs (also great, though equally importantly, "side salad" doesn't do it justice! Their green goddess dressing is made in-house, and it's so good, everyone, including me, has been clamoring for them to bottle it enough that they're working on that now!) So yeah, everything here is a little pricey, but for the most part, I would say, very worth it for the quality. I honestly most likely wouldn't pay $16 for the smoked yellowtail very often, but I almost certainly *will* be back on a fairly regular basis for both the soft scrambled eggs and the shrimp chorizo gravy biscuit, and again, I *have been* here on a pretty regular basis for both really good espresso/espresso drinks/cold brew, *and* just totally the best pastries. (Full disclosure: I also live down the street, so convenience might be a factor too. But the quality still has to justify the price, and it does!) Love the space, too - both their (possibly temporary?) outside space they created for covid, and the bright, breezy, fairly spacious inside space that's finally open again! read more

I have been saving a draft for this Rose Park location on Pine for quite some time, before covid (B.C.). Mainly, because I was conflicted. I like Rose Park, and felt that I just came in on the wrong day or picked the wrong things. So let me tell you why I upgraded my rating from a two to a five. So back when the Pine location opened, I was super excited since it was close enough for a moderate walk, instead of making the drive to the one on 4th. I have visited several times before deciding to post this. Before Covid (B.C.) I tried the Ethiopian. Sadly, this was super sour to me and difficult to drink. I also tried the eggs Benedict. The avocado was overripe and really detracted from what would have been an otherwise really delightful dish with a delicious lemony hollandaise. Banana bread is another baked item I tried, but unfortunately I just did not like the flavor. It seemed fresh and homemade, but maybe... I just don't like banana bread anymore. Water did not taste great. Oof. If that water had some ice to make it colder and some lemons that would make a world of difference. Outlets present are nice if you want to bring your laptop and plug in. Considering the price point, I expected better quality. I am highly dissuaded from getting the avocado toast here again. Please taste the avocados being served to make sure they are not overripe or under ripe or just do not serve anything with avocado. Perhaps this is an issue from newly opening. Will probably just stick to the lattes, if I decide to come back, until this can be figured out or choose another downtown coffee shop. During Covid (D.C.) Ordering online was pretty easy, parking sometimes, not that easy. On at least two occasions, I tried ordering a baked good available online only to find out during pickup that it wasn't available. No issues with refunding the amount for unavailable items, just disappointed they literally never have cookies when I order for pickup. Contactless payment accepted. I have come around to buy whole coffee beans and to sample the new brunch menu a couple times, which so far has actually been FANTASTIC. Janice's mushroom toast was so flavorful! Portobello, king mushroom, mushroom pickled soft egg, calamansi garlic butter, lemongrass vinaigrette. Dude. As a meat eater, I didn't even miss the meat. Tasty AF. This was so good. I wish I had more calamansi butter and vinaigrette. Yum. Fish and eggs is good too! The yellowtail was delicious, and I liked the chili honey flavor of the delicata squash (not really spicy). There were some fairly hard bits to the crunchy furikake topping seasoning, but besides that, I think it had great flavor and texture to contrast the soft eggs topped with paddle fish caviar. The apple miso cold brew is ok, probably would not get this again. I much prefer the miso caramel latte. The sweet potato rosemary latte is delicious too. I love what Rose Park is doing now, offering thoughtful brunch and dinner menus. It's new and exciting for this area of downtown Long Beach, and I hope Rose Parks continues to innovate and delight us with creative, seasonal, delicious dishes to compliment its great coffee. read more

Super cute coffee spot. The barista was friendly when we visited on Sunday morning - but I have to agree with the other Yelpers about the pricing...it's boldly overpriced. We got: - iced chai - vanilla latte (both with oat milk, so up-charges for that) - avocado toast ($17) - lions mane mushroom toast (each just one piece of toast, this one being $26) Our total was over 50 DOLLARS. Unreal. Minus 1 star for tone-deaf prices on the food. The drinks were pleasant, and honestly the food was tasty as well, I'll give them that. It seemed like a good study spot too, but I can't justify spending that for a quick breakfast bite from a cafe. Not even a full meal or table service....come on, Rose Park. Hopefully cafes will begin to shift with the times and stop charging more for non-dairy milk, especially when that's the top pick here in SoCal. I might pop in to grab a tea or simple latte, but if you're looking to grab snacks too I'd recommend checking out the cafe on 4th & Elm for more monetarily balanced experience. read more

Drinks are so perf! Got an iced agave matcha with oat milk and it was so refreshing. Drinks came out quick and the matcha was a nice shade of green. I got a banana bread slice as well it was also really good. I paid $19.25 for both drinks and the banana bread. Nice little spot to study or get some work done. Came in here today looking for a nice spot to work. About 10am on a Wednesday only a couple souls inside so there was plenty of space to setup shop and find an outlet (the most important part). I grabbed an oat milk cappuccino which honestly was great. Also snagged a slice of chocolate olive oil loaf which was even better. Minimal sweetness, moist like undercooked brownie with a crispy crust. The girls up front were nice and brought the drinks and loaf to our table. Sadly though, I couldn't really work or enjoy my time due to the music being so loud. They were blasting some Latin throwbacks, which would have been great for a party, but I couldn't concentrate on anything let alone even converse with my gf. One of my favorite neighborhood coffee shops has opened a second location in downtown Long Beach...Rose Park Roasters. The new store is on the corner of Pine & 8th Street (NE). This store lacks some of the atmosphere of 4th Street, but nonetheless it is a lovely space. The floor to ceiling windows flood the place with light. They have ample seating both indoors and out. The menu is slightly different, but still quite delicious. And the baristas are doing their job well, turning out scrumptious brews. read more

The scone was weird, Rosemary and something (maybe ginger?) some odd business but was good. Allegedly a sweet scone vs a savoury... but nah. It was different. Still enjoyed it. Deeply disheartened with this establishment for hiring such mean-spirited and indecorous individuals. My mother has always wanted to go to this coffee shop because it is in our neighborhood and we love to support businesses in our community, however, she was met with this cruel young lady who was extremely rude from the beginning of interaction. She seemed like she was being held against her will to show an ounce of kindness or respect to my mother. No hello, no how are you, no greetings, and when my mother tried to give this young lady a nice compliment to try and break the tension she responded with a potty mouth full of words and gave her pure attitude. The costumer service being horrible was one thing but the food was also not prepared adequately. The food was unbelievably cold and stale. What a sad time for our great community to be shared with such despicable and cruel people. You never know what someone is going through and this could have been just one nice interaction someone could have needed more than anything so my heartbreaks for anyone who enters this so called establishment. read more

I am super bummed to leave this review as I love the Pine Ave Rose Park location dearly. We have been coming to this Rose Park for four years and have never had any issues with our drinks or the customer service. In fact, customer service here has always been excellent and the ambiance is always so welcoming - except for our visit yesterday. The barista was impersonal and unfriendly, and what's most unfortunate is that our drinks did not taste anything close to our usual orders. :( I will only return when she is NOT the barista behind the counter. read more

I'm so glad this place recently opened up in Long Beach! It's a great example of how the area is really improving and the "downtown" area of pine Ave is expanding. The interior is so beautiful and a great, calm place to study or get some work done. The outdoor seating is also nice when the weather's nice. The avocado toast was so good and lemony! I got the candies beets on the side because I didn't know how I'd feel about them, but they were actually pretty good. I didn't try it on the toast itself, so I'm not sure how I would like the combination. If you're a cautious eater, try it on the side. My husband got the French toast, also very good but kind of weird/deconstructed into almost bite-sized pieces. I came in about an hour and a half before their site said they closed, the staff was sweet, poured me a glass of wine and gave me the WiFi password to get some much needed work done on a Sunday. While the coffee is good it doesn't offset the rudeness of the worker. The guy working on Monday morning the 26th of September needs to be retrained. Walked in with my backpack, headphones (obviously ready to do some work) and some food. I realized that I brought my food in so I walked outside to eat my food there out of respect for the establishment. After a few minutes the guy walked outside asking us to order but with a certain tone that made us feel uncomfortable already. Explained to him that Im just finishing my food and I'm gonna go inside and order some coffee. Went inside, grabbed 2 coffee that was $15 with 20% tip. Went to an empty table and realize that the table can only fit my laptop and my coffee, but I use a portable dual-screen and I need an extra table to fit it since the table was on the smaller side. While setting up the guy immediately comes out from the kitchen and told us we can't do that bc every table is set accordingly. As someone who goes to coffee shop 5-times a week I would've been okay with that if his choice of verbiage wasn't so rude. We just felt targeted cause we were probably inside the coffee shop for 2 minutes. Packed my stuff and went to the front, I saw the guy on the cashier so I didn't ask him bc he's taking an order. I asked another worker just to clarify that this coffee shop doesn't accommodate to dual-monitor users and she said it does but he stepped in and started saying something while a customer was ordering through him. Very unprofessional. As someone who worked in the food industry for 9 years as server and manager, this was unacceptable. Nevertheless the coffee is pretty good. read more

What a cute place to work remotely from. When you walk into the building, there are already stickers, plants, and wooden furniture that will greet you. You can even buy coffee that they have on display too! It's such a cute place, this time I order the iced coffee and sat inside where you can people watch. They roast their own beans and have many varieties. I bought a bag and they are super fresh. However, the two half lattes I ordered as part of the flight menu had way too much milk, you can clearly tell by the color before even taking a sip. Perhaps the ratios need some adjusting. STEPH JUDGEMENT: Cool new location that now offers more than coffee. I've been to their east side 4th St location several times and am a fan, so I was excited to see this place go up. I stopped in for lunch one weekday and was impressed with the size and decor--it's definitely a step up for them while still retaining the modern minimalist charm of their original shop. Now, in addition to great coffee and tea, they offer nice variety of food options and I decided to get the herb aioli and chicken sandwich. It was unfortunately the lunch rush and it took quite a while for it to come out; I ended up getting it to go. It was a really delicious sandwich, though, and at $12, it really should be. I want to say this... I REALLY want to love you! I love smaller private businesses! I was given a voucher for any drink. I was greeted by a nice lady hence the 2 stars vs 1. My drink was finished by a guy that looked like he'd rather be at the dentist! Starbucks wows you... they are over friendly. They strive to make sure you leave happy. I know I hit them up enough as they are on every corner. Coffee? Weak! Tasteless. I LOVE robust coffee . This was shi*t. Where is the lavender maples flavor? Not here. I taste cold milk. Milk with a small drop of coffee. It was horrid. You can keep the second voucher I was given. I wouldn't take it free! I left today at 315 with a crappy free cup of iced milk and not so much as a thank you, have a nice day kiss my a** from the guy who looked like he had a thousand other places he'd rather be! Geez! The coffee not only tastes amazing but so is their friendly service. The area is nice and bright which is great for conversation or even doing work/studying.
