Rosebud restaurant is an old school Chicago restaurant. It has four floors and outside patio dining in summer. This is a "white tablecloths with dim lighting," kind of restaurant. I was in the basement for my lunch. This restaurant gave me the feeling of an old school 1920s speakeasy. My fettuccine Alfredo had freshly made pasta. It was cooked perfectly and had a great taste. The meatball was good and tasted great in the large amount of sauce that came with it. It was all delicious. The Customer Service was top-tier. The waiter sprinkled my pepper on my pasta for me and they came and took each plate as soon as I finished them . The bartender was very personable. I give this place a 9/10. read more

We came here for Christmas Eve tonight and it was quite bustling! We were seated outside in their heated outdoor area and boy were the heaters on! We were very toasty! Made reservations for two through open table for an early dinner. We sat out in the enclosed patio, which was very cozy and comfortable. We asked the waiter if the Chicken Parmesan was enough to share. Thank goodness we did. The portions are huge. A good variety on the menu, but the brunch menu is more limited compared to their menu after 2 pm. I was hoping to try their gnocchi, but it was unavailable. Instead, I got the Italian Beef Sandwich. This was not bad! The au jus was definitely the best part, but since the sandwich was so big, there wasn't enough! I couldn't finish it since it was too dry without the au jus. We ate at the Rosebud on Rush Street. We liked it because it felt like a neighborhood restaurant. The restaurant has been in its location for a long time which adds to the atmosphere. We went to this apparently "really good food place". Our experience was interesting. First we sat down excited to try it recommended by a local. We first had to order drinks. My 10 year old daughter ordered a Shirley temple. Before even asking what we wanted he went and made it. He did this for all of our drinks. Then we had to order food. My husband ordered some Italian food dish. It came out with a ton of cheese. He basically ate 1/3 of it because there was so much cheese. My dish had a couple cold noodles. I went for the baked rigatoni and my husband did the classic fettuccine Alfredo. I also asked for a side of broccolini just so we had a little fresh veggies with all the carbs. The crab cakes were delicious and quite substantial and the sauce was very good. The dish included perfect, crispy potatoes. Feeling greedy, I ordered Tiramisu also. Cheers to to-go boxes. I've been to 2 other rosebud restaurants and this one was consistent quality with the rest - the service is great and the space has an authentic feel to it. The seating at this location is almost all on a lower level, except for the patio seating. They have a super large menu and give you a nice complimentary bread basket to start! My husband and I've been here many times. I love the restaurant classic Italian feel, food is always delicious and don't skip the tiramisu. The chicken parm is our go to dish and it is massive. So tender and the sauce is great. I tried the classic meatballs which were great too. I made a reservation and we had to wait 15-20 minutes to get sat. The hostess originally tried to sit us outside on the heated patio but it was chilly outside so we decided to wait for an indoor table. If anyone from the restaurant is reading this please just add the option of where you would like to be sat on the reservation option. It's November and people don't always want to sit outside. My best friend and I were able to secure a reservation last minute on a Friday night to try this must anticipated Italian restaurant in River North. The aesthetic and ambiance was nice and elegant and the service was excellent. Our server was very knowledgeable and welcoming! We started the meL with a Stoli Raz Mule (a raspberry moscow mule) and a Ketel One Cucumber Mint (a cucumber mint vodka spritzer) and both were superb!! We enjoyed the complimentary bread which was good but not great. For dinner we ordered the Baked Ziti and Gnocchi al Forno. What we got was Baked Ziti and Gnocchi alla vodka. Mistake aside, they were both pretty good! Each had good flavor but just weren't high quality. I have had better Italian food in Chicago and paid less to be completely honest, but it was a good overall meal for a casual italian dinner. This location is one block from Michigan Avenue and is significantly quieter than bustling Michigan Avenue. The Eggplant Stack could use a little salt and maybe a touch of olive oil, but it is so glorious when it is presented to you that you are satisfied. I would not suggest getting the Cacio e Pepe as it tastes like buttered noodles and not a strong Pecorino Romano cheese. The best Cacio e Pepe I have had has been from Eataly and they used a STRONG Pecorino Romano cheese - nothing has compared ever since experiencing this. My partner got the Chicken Calabrese, and it made us both laugh because the potatoes and sauce saucière were ON TOP of the enormous piece of chicken! The potato was a nice companion to calm down the spice level, and if you like spice there were plenty of peppers for every bite.
