Rosebud's Cafe is a gem of a find for breakfast in the Foothills. Family-run, the establishment is cute, quaint, friendly, and most importantly, the site of amazing food. We started off our meal with an order of the cafe's clssic beignets that were out of this world! We followed that up with a breakfast burrito and quiche -- both were large and fantastic. We had great conversations with both the mother and son who run the establishment, providing an atmosphere that was almost like eating at home. We can't wait to go back!

What a gem this business (and the people inside it) are!! We had breakfast here...a very nice breakfast sandwich and a piece of home made apple pie that was maybe the best I've ever had in my 67 years! Seriously that good. Super community oriented business!!

This place is so cozy and magical inside! We came in for beignets and warm drinks and it was all amazing... some of the best beignets I've had! I'd looove to come back to try more of their yummy looking food! Excellent people working here to...such a great vibe!

Rosebuds is one of my favorite spots for breakfast and brunch. Everything is made with farm-to-table care, and all of their breads are baked in-house, which is incredible! The café is run by a local family and has been a beloved Jackson staple for decades. There's a personal touch in everything: from the decor that reflects Irish heritage to the visible support for the LGBTQ+ community. When I used to work in the Jackson schools, many LGBTQ+ students shared that Rosebuds was where they felt most accepted. It became a safe and welcoming place for them. So thank you, Rosebuds, for being such a meaningful part of Amador County. Your presence matters. It's also a great spot for all kinds of eaters- whether you're vegan, vegetarian, or a meat lover, there's something thoughtfully crafted for everyone. Now let's talk about the delicious food! Definitely try the beignets, as they're one of the highlights. I also love the little details, like the strawberry-infused water, and the fresh selection of scones at the counter. As someone who adores a classic breakfast, I usually go for eggs, spuds, and toast, plus a glass of their freshly squeezed orange juice. Everything is made with such care. If you're looking for a clean, lively, warm, and inclusive space that serves delicious food and excellent desserts, give Rosebuds a try. You just might leave with a full heart, and maybe even a new friend. :)

A Pleasant Surprise with a Small-Town Feel…read more This one caught me off guard--in a good way. I was out with my family practicing for my daughter's driving test at the DMV up the street. We pulled up Yelp to find a good lunch spot, saw the solid reviews, and decided to give it a try. When we walked in, the atmosphere had that small-town vibe--simple, welcoming, and comfortable. The food was very good. The service wasn't polished like a Michelin star restaurant, but it didn't need to be. It was authentic and heartfelt, and sometimes that matters more. You could tell the staff cared about what they were doing. The place was busy, especially for the time of day we went, which tells you something. People come here on purpose. That says a lot. We were seated quickly, our order was taken without any issues, and the food came out in a reasonable time. When it hit the table, the portions were generous and satisfying. I wish I had taken pictures, but I was too busy enjoying the moment. If you go, post your photos--I'm sure the business would appreciate it. If you've followed my reviews, you know I don't give out 4 stars often, and 5 stars are rare. This place earned that extra star because of how it made me feel--between the food, the atmosphere, and the service, it just worked. If I'm ever back in the area, I'm definitely coming back for another meal.

They kept them coming once we asked, and they were delicious every time. But we had to keep asking, and at one point, we almost gave up. That said, the service was pretty underwhelming, especially since the restaurant wasn't busy. We waited close to 20 minutes before getting our first drinks, even water. We had noted a special occasion on our reservation, but there wasn't really anything that made it feel acknowledged or special. We shared the skillet, and unfortunately it was extremely soggy. We literally poured liquid out of it multiple times. On the flip side, the lemon poppyseed waffle was a solid 10/10 and definitely the standout food item for us. I'm giving 3 stars because there's clearly potential here. The drinks were great, the waffle was amazing, and I do think this place could easily be a 5-star experience with more attentive service and a little more consistency in the kitchen. We'll definitely give it another try.

You order up front before taking a seat and there is a good selection of sandwiches for lunch as well as coffee and freshly-baked goods. We missed the window for breakfast but they also serve made-to-order breakfast dishes. My husband and I just wanted a smaller meal for lunch that day, so we settled on the 1/2 sandwich and soup combo. While the portion sizes are on the smaller side, they were balanced and filling for what we wanted (as well as very reasonably priced), and we ended our meal with an in-house baked oatmeal raisin cookie. The cookie was huge and packed with oats but still delicious, with the proper texture and not overly sweet. Our sandwiches were simple yet delicious, with fresh ingredients and bread. The clam chowder was the soup of the day and so so good, I love when clam chowder has potatoes with the skin still attached. Our food also arrived pretty quickly, I would say within 10 minutes of ordering. Water is self-serve. We did not get a chance to try their coffee or the quiche that they're known for, but we will return to Sina's for sure and definitely recommend this cute little cafe for anyone looking for a quick, cozy meal in Sutter Creek!

The Motherlode is a Homemade Biscuit, Country Potatoes, Gravy, Sunnyside Egg & Bacon Bits. It had a great smoky flavor and I always enjoy a homemade style biscuit. The French toast was served with a side of potatoes. It was cooked perfectly and had a great flavor. My only regret is that we didn't grab a few cookies for the road home that looked so good. We didn't have to wait long for our waitress to swing by and take our order. She was just as awesome as the Host up front! She was all smiley and friendly and she dug into some of our jokes and laughed. Dad has dietary needs and our waitress was very accommodating and helpful with that. Very thankful! Okay so... food. Hotel Sutter Restaurant has been on my list of places to check out in our neck of the woods for a while. We for sure wanted a classy place that served cocktails, and Hotel Sutter fit the bill. Both of us were also craving a good craft burger, and from what I saw in other reviews, the burgers looked delicious. I made a reservation for us on OpenTable just in case, but since it was a weeknight I wasn't too concerned if we had walked in. We were seated nearly immediately, and our server cheerfully asked us what we wanted to drink besides good ole H2O. I was really glad we came to visit around Christmastime, since they were serving holiday cocktails and other beverages. I went with the partridge pear martini, while my husband went with the Santa's spiced cider. My martini was oh so delicious and perfectly strong, and I had a small sip of my husband's cider, which was refreshing with the perfect holiday-esque notes. We read a few mixed reviews on the apps, so went straight to the entrees instead. I chose the bacon jam burger and my husband chose the traveller whiskey burger. Both of us upgraded to the garlic rosemary seasoning. I went with fries and my husband went with tots. Honestly, we were glad that we didn't end up ordering an app, since the burgers themselves were pretty filling! We both asked for medium on the cook temp of our patties, and they delivered. The meat was perfectly juicy with a wonderful charred flavor. The bacon jam was so delicious, and the balsamic arugula paired perfectly with everything. My brioche bun was pillowy and yet did not fall apart with all the juices of the burger. I did not get a chance to try my husband's burger, but he stated that it was also top notch. My fries were piping hot, with a perfect dusting of garlic rosemary flavor and sprinkles of Parmesan cheese. I tried a tot and that was also delightfully crispy and flavorful. We asked for ranch and that went well with both sides. The ketchup was great as well. I loved the ambiance of the restaurant. Old buildings are always up my alley, and the rich history of Hotel Sutter can truly be felt simply by touching its brick walls (that is, if you believe in the spirit realm). I loved that each table had its own light, but the restaurant had the perfect dim setting for a classy date night. Our server was very friendly and attentive, and kept our waters refilled. We had a concern regarding the pricing of the cider on the bill vs on the menu and that was fixed immediately, with the rest of the staff notified for future reference. It was a tiny discrepancy, but one that we caught quickly and simply wanted to bring up. Hotel Sutter Restaurant is definitely on our places to return to in the future, and I'd love to sit on the balcony some other time and enjoy some brunch and mimosas. If you're looking for an excuse for date night or are just feeling fancy, definitely come relax, sip some delicious cocktails, and enjoy the delicious food Hotel Sutter Restaurant has to offer!
