I live in Manhattan and have a lake house on Lake Hopatcong. I was at the lake with my wife and kids during the week and decided to get out of the house to have some breakfast and get some work done. I went to Rose's place for breakfast. When I finished my breakfast, I stayed for coffee while answering email and getting some work done. The waitress got increasingly unpleasant and then abruptly grabbed my check and added three coffees to it. I found this very strange since the place was more than half empty. It wasn't as if I was keeping them from having more customers. I brought this to the attention of the owner and let him know that I would happily pay for the coffees, but that he just lost a customer for life. He said he didn't care ... "if I lose one customer, two more walk in." Terrible customer service. I thought I found a place that I would frequent often and bring my family, but at this point I will stay away and recommend that you do too! read more

I did not like this place. First off, its cash only. I rarely have cash on me, luckily I did this time. Next, It seemed dirty and the exterior appearance is shabby but we gave it a chance because of reviews on Yelp. No good. I had the meatloaf and my gf had the philly cheesesteak. Both were dry and tough.They did give us both monster portions, but quantity doesn't make up for quality in my book. Will not be returning. read more

Great food, portions and service. An awesome breakfast spot. Saturday and Sundays 9:30am to 12:30 are prime time and I advise you to avoid these time periods because it gets packed!!!! 45 min to an hour wait easy, keep this in mind when reading the negative reviews about service during those times. The volume is enormous at those times, the kind of volume John Taffer does on his stress tests. There is parking all over you have to look around, look by the lake you can park over there. You may have to walk 50yds which is a good thing so you can burn off some of these large portions they serve. read more

I have only had breakfast here but when in want to go out for breakfast, Rosie's is rated top for me! I've never had a bad meal whether it is eggs or pancakes. Everything is cooked perfect and the wait staff is on top of their tables. You rarely have to wait to get a coffee refill. read more

Not my favorite place to go... Place is nice the food is a hit or miss... I ordered an omlet that was amazing. Next time I went a chicken salad sandwich that was so dry and had extra things in it I didn't eat it the waitress was a bit rude about it and charged us for the plate despite the fact it wasn't eaten and was told it was terrible. It's apparently hit or miss. We missed. Rude waitress, zero eye contact, was waiting three tables and would only look at one table then run away. We waited 45 minutes for our breakfast. Had to chase her down for refills. French Toast was flat and soggy, and blueberries with some pancake pieces mushed in was the other dish. And the coffee. The coffee was very weak. I understand it's a local place, but just because you don't recognize a face its not an excuse for rudeness and terrible service. Management must be aware, it seemed to be how most of us all were being treated. read more

Been going here forever and never experienced a problem. My dad goes here every morning with his friends, and if the food was as bad as some of you claim, their daily routine would have moved elsewhere long ago. The prices are great, the food is good, and the staff are always pleasant. Yes, sometimes there's a bit of a wait, but that could be true at any popular and successful establishment on occasion! Went there for breakfast today. It was a Friday morning which is typically a popular breakfast day. There was plenty of open tables. The service was great. Had meals ranging from French Toast, an omelette and a Taylor Ham and cheese breakfast sandwich. All were very good. Much better than the Roxbury and Chester diners. I'd highly recommend. Only downside is parking is always an issue; especially when it gets crowded. read more

Absolutely love this place! I like to call it my secret place because it's so perfectly placed- you can almost drive by and never know what was there. Parking is limited, so I take a nice walk my son in his stroller generally on Sunday's to have brunch. S at yourself and bring cash! They do have an ATM but to save yourself the fees just bring cash since they do not take credit cards. Every weekend I try a new omelet (do not pass down a Denver omelet) and have yet to be disappointed. Service and coffee is always great. I have yet to have any issues. Breakfast here is very good. Do not understand why they have such a wide assortment of alcohol on display though. Still friendly environment, yes kitchen is a little slow. Do really like the photographs of Netcong from 50+ years ago that are around the restaurant. Strange opening hours, until 3pm some days. They only take cash! read more

Giant breakfast portions. One of the best Western omelets that I have had in Morris county. Sliced fried potatoes are great. Good service, waiter asked to refill my coffee twice. The only knock I give it is for poor parking and have had better tasting coffee. Otherwise I will definitely come back to try more of their food. read more

I tried this place for the first time today and want to say it's good. I feel like great is something that has to blow my mind but it was definitely a good time. Our waitress was very nice and our portions were generous and delicious. I def recommend to anyone. Only downside is how early they close but, they also do open early. I am surprised at the negative comments written on YELP. Have been going to Rose's Place for over 20 years and have had none of these negative experiences. A wonderful place to meet friends and have a decent breakfast or lunch for very reasonable prices. The Polo Family treats every employee like Family. There may be only six parking places on the site but there is street parking. If you had a bad experience it is very unusual. P.S. I am not family just a long time diner. Just had company from Germany and they insisted on going to Rose's because their friends had been to Rose's when visiting the area. When our children visit from Florida it is the first place they want to go. I suppose some people just expect too much from a family friendly place. read more

Very good local luncheonette style place. First time here and enjoyed all I had, which was a California omelette(turkey, bacon, avocado, tomato's) - yum-yum! Food is good I love their cornbread waffles. It's a cute little local place. Food is fast even with a big group. Their Service lacks luster they are not very friendly but get the job done. Here's the deal. The breakfast food was very good...when we finally got it. We were also told(see other reviews) after 45mins that our food was "on the grill". Not sure what that means, but it took another 15mins to get it. 1 hour to get breakfast food? When we said something to the rude waitress, she said "Your lucky, that was not bad". Lucky?? We won't be lucky enough to come back here too soon. Really poor service. read more

Horrible experience. It was fairly crowded when we arrived around 11:30 on a Sunday, got a table right away. Ordered drinks and our breakfast fairly quickly as well. Waitress was polite, but not engaging (it's not a requirement). Drinks arrived quickly (coffee, etc). This is when the trouble began. No food and no drink refills for close to an hour. AN HOUR - in a small, diner-type greasy spoon. Waitress didn't even stop by during this time - we had to call her over for more coffee and drinks. At one point, after about 40 minutes, she responded to a query that "our food is on the grill". REALLY? After 40 minutes. Well it couldn't have been true because it took another 20 minutes before we were served. (Note that we ordered regular items straight off the menu - nothing special!) Food was hot, but not particularly tasty. We finished our meal and went out to continue our day. About 2 hours later, 2 our of our 4 person party got ill with stomach problems - one of them violently! So - unfriendly, poor service, unexplainably long food delivery time, no recognition at all about the horrible delay (no "Sorry" or even a lame excuse!!), AND half of our party got SICK from their food. We won't be going back there, and for your own mental and physical health I suggest you STAY AWAY. VERY unpleasant experience. read more
