We've eaten here before, but we won't anymore. Our table had been cleared, but pancake syrup was smeared all over it. Obviously, the dishes were cleared but no one wiped down the table. Several other tables with dirty dishes. Trash was overflowing in both the restrooms. Soap dispenser was falling off the wall in the women's bathroom, and you couldn't even get any soap from it. To preface, it is Labor Day weekend so things are busier than usual. That said, the wait to receive our food was a little over an hour. Our server never introduced herself (probably because she knew her service was about to be bad). She was very concerned about the tables around us but avoided even making eye contact with us while we waited -- let alone refilled our drinks or anything. Keep in mind that we are very polite and gave her no reason to avoid us. The food is fine, but it's bland. I went in on a Wednesday evening at 5:45. I went by myself and it took over 5 minutes to be given a menu. I ended up ordering a cup of chili and country fried steak. After waiting 1.5 hours (hadn't even received my cup of chili yet), I asked for my food to go, as I had somewhere to be. I waited an additional 15 minutes. I went to the register to check out and the lady left the counter while I stood in front of her...to run food to tables, as I stood there waiting. I was extremely frustrated. My husband and I went there for lunch today. I was very disappointed. First of all it was obvious that our waiter didn't want to be there. He acted like it pissed him off when he had to bring our menus to us and beneath him to bring us 2 waters. It took forever for him to come back and take our order. Every time I looked in the back corner he was just sitting in a chair. After about a 30 minute wait he finally brought the food to us and very rudely at that! The food wasn't that great either. As for the one bad review...well....If Joe T saw flies in here in January when it was 2 degrees it would be as unusual as a bad meal in this place, We come here to eat every year during the homeschool basketball tournament and we have always found the food, the service and the atmosphere to be a pleasure.The burgers are Beyond great! We were on a long weekend road trip to a wedding and had exactly one lunch time free... so I turned to yelp. There are a few choices in the Ozark, Missouri area, including some well known and somewhat touristy selections that we were told about. We decided on this little local cafe called Rosie Jo's. I think everyone was glad we did! From the outside, Rosie Jo's is pretty unremarkable. It's in a small strip mall, surrounded by one of the many antique malls that are plentiful in the Ozark area. We went in and were pleasantly surprised by the kitchy country (chicken-esque themed) decor and the general feel of the place. We love the fried pickles at the Texan Cafe back home, and when we saw they were on the menu here, the appetizer choice was unanimous. It was a great choice. The pickles came out hot, lightly battered, crispy and dill-iciously juicy all at the same time, and not overly greasy at all for being deep fried. I think the vote was unanimous that they beat the ones that had been our family favorites at the Texan, and that's saying something! Entree-wise, we decided to go all-in, and ordered a couple chicken fried chicken dinners (one with extra gravy) and a club sandwich with onion rings subbed in. Small town cafe bliss ensued. The club sandwich I ordered was impressive and yummy. The chicken fried chicken meals were good, and on par with what we consider a good small town cafe meal: lots of chicken, good mashed taters, not too greasy, etc. Basically some delicious comfort food. We shared a coconut cream pie slice for dessert - it disappeared too quickly for a photo! The other cool thing is that soft serve ice cream came as a part of the meals - and was good as well! The service was great - the young man who attended our table kept the drinks full, and made sure we had everything we needed. If we are ever in Ozark Missouri again, I'd definitely return to Rosie Jo's! It' was an awesome little gem of a cafe. read more

This is an old local fixture of a restaurant. People love the good food and relatively low prices. It's not an elegant establishment but you can hear the cook singing as he cooks and I swear it comes out in the food. Friendly service. read more

Seated quickly. The sign says at least 30 minutes for bone in chicken. So ordered chicken fried chicken so it wouldn't take as long. 65 minutes later, no food, no salad even, only a glass of tea. Left $5 on the table and left. Maybe the food is great, can't really say. The pies LOOK good, but never got that far. read more

This is their second day in new digs. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised about the slow service so I'm not going to dwell on he 40 minute wait for a Sausage egg sandwich. The new place is hot. Great little casual place with amazing homemade comfort food. We had fried chicken, fried shrimp & a pork tenderloin sandwich. All delicious! To be honest this was my 2nd time there. The last time I had chicken gizzards but they only have those on the weekends they tell me. Complementary Ice cream after your meal too! waitress was absolutely efficient and friendly! Myself, my wife and our granddaughter went to Rosie's Joe's to have catfish dinner. Got there at 4:30, placed order and waited. Table across from us got there at 5 and got their order within 15min, We decided to leave after waiting 55min. and 2 other tables got their orders right away. We were seated in path leading in and out of kitchen, not off in a corner. I told our waitress we were leaving and why. I WILL NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN AND I WILL LET OTHERS KNOW ABOUT OUR LACK OF SERVICE. The best compliment I can pay Rosie Jo's is to say that they have managed to preserve that home town, home-grown hangout vibe that is very rarely seen these days. You can see and feel it from the moment you walk in. It's the kind of place where everyone looks up to see who just came through the door. But for me, that is where it ends. This was my first time to the new location, and even though I never really had a good experience at the old spot, I just had this feeling that it would be better. Well, it's the same...almost exactly, except I think it's a little bigger now, which means there are more dirty tables to look at and the stretched-thin staff has even more ground to try to cover. For me, RJ's is reminiscent of the small-town diner in a locale that has no other choices; kind of an Army style, "this is what we have, this is what you get" approach to food service. In fairness, nothing we had was bad; it just wasn't good. The club sandwich I had looked old and tired and tasted like the inside of the refrigerator. And the bland, unseasoned onion rings looked nothing like the photos. When you combine food like that with lots and lots of dirty tables, slow service, dirty silverware, rickety furniture, as well as "free entertainment" (on this day, it was a Patriotic speech by the owner/resident troublemaker), well I just don't get it- nothing at all charming about it in my mind; just weird and uncomfortable. This place certainly doesn't need me; shoot, its jam packed every time I drive by around noon, so there's either a pretty loyal following or they are serving decent food some of the time. It seems like the bulk of the good reviews are for breakfast, so maybe that is the main attraction? But there are too many other choices in the area these days for me to keep up this whole "benefit of a doubt" thing, so I am officially relinquishing my seat to the locals who have either figured out the right things to order or have known the staff long enough to get decent service or maybe stopped caring. read more

I had lunch here yesterday, was very disappointed. You can get a better burger at A fast food restaurant. The fries were oil logged and not cooked. I am surprised they even served them. Where is the quality control? The sad thing is, I am sure they make great food, it's always packed. If burgers and fries aren't your thing...don't have them on the menu. I typically only eat fast-food gizzards from Go Chicken Go but this place would blow them out of the water. Our waitress/server was a sassy bit around 60-70's. I eat here often. Sometimes you have wait but they do the best they can when they are short staffed. The food ALWAYS arrives hot.
