Horrible customer service. One of the workers yelled at my daughter as she was entering the fitting rooms. Now mind you, my daughter tried to get her attention but because she was on her cell phone, the worker didn't pay her any attention so my daughter decides to enter the fitting room area. This employee then grabs my daughter and tells her she can't go in. That's not how it's done. I run up because my daughter is starting to look scared, and she loudly says "you need to get a tag" so I go to grab one and she then tells "No, put the items in the rack." At this point I'm losing my cool so I inform her it's not my job to know how the fitting rooms work. She then tried to tell me I couldn't accompany my daughter in. Subject: Urgent Complaint Regarding Unprofessional Behavior at Ross Store Dear Ross Customer Service, I'm writing to formally report a troubling experience I had at one of your store locations involving multiple employees, including one whose behavior was especially inappropriate. While waiting in line to check out, I observed a female employee who had finished ringing up a customer but continued chatting and joking with them at the register. Despite several customers waiting, including myself, she ignored us entirely. Her behavior was unprofessional and dismissive, and it created a frustrating delay. After waiting and seeing the interaction continue--complete with laughter and physical gestures--I signaled the store security for assistance. Unfortunately, the security guard did nothing to intervene. I then sought help from another employee, a male staff member, who said he would assist me shortly. I followed him to the register, where he ended up helping a customer who had been behind me in line. That transaction involved a pricing issue, which further delayed service as the employee had to leave the register to resolve it. Eventually, the original female employee returned. I asked for her name since she wasn't wearing a name badge. She refused to provide it, saying, "You don't need to know." I then asked my daughter to hand me her phone so I could call for a ride. At that moment, the female employee abruptly grabbed all five of my items and told me to leave the store. She refused to sell me the merchandise without any valid reason. I believe this incident was not only disrespectful but also discriminatory. The male employee and the security guard appeared intimidated by her and declined to assist me further. I urge you to review the store's security footage from that day, which will clearly show the events as they unfolded. I hope Ross takes this matter seriously and addresses the behavior of the staff involved. No customer should be treated this way. Ps. I was in line around 9:45pm and when she refused to ring me up, she added the register is closed at 10pm. P.S. I documented the incident by taking photos of the employee afterward, as she threatened to call 911 if I did not leave the premises. At 9:00am on a weekday, the store was quiet and tidy, but not well organized. The toys in the toy section were all mixed up, but they do have a big variety, including Mario and Pokémon play sets. They have island shelves full merchandise throughout the store in each department, but the items are not easy to go through with a quick glance as they're not sorted. They have a huge maternity section with lots of different styles. TLDR: Lots of stuff and variety if you have a lot of time to browse. read more

It was a terrible experience at this location probably the worst I've had with Ross. Upon entering the security guard looked at me with an unfriendly look but thought nothing of it. As I made my way to the line he continued to stare at me making me feel uncomfortable. He stared me down the entire time while making my purchase then proceeded to stand directly in front of me demanding my receipt & attempting to grab the receipt from my hand while trying to exit the store. I've never had such an aggressive bizarre encounter with a security guard at a retail store before. The selection here is nice as it's a bigger store. However, when I came on a Sunday afternoon, the woman named Herminia at the fitting room was incredibly rude. It wasn't even busy and we were very cordial but she was reprimanding customers like we were an inconvenience. Why such disdain for the people who are spending money so you can have a job? It's been years since I've been to a Ross and I happen to want to shop for Halloween stuff recently so when my husband and I went to Costco I saw a Ross and thought I might like to try to come here again. Parking was quick and easy because they have a really large parking lot that they share with various other businesses. Upon walking in we were immediately greeted by the security guard, she seemed very nice. according to some other reviews it seems like a really long line for check out is pretty much the norm and they did have one when we walked in this time as well, however by the time I was done shopping and ready to check out there was no one in line. Because I don't shop here regularly I don't know what to expect as the norm, so walking in was a brand-new experience for me. Immediately to the right they have the bath and beauty stuff but they didn't have a very large selection. Like I said I don't know if that's normal but they did have fragrances and various bath salts and lotions. In the middle of the store that's where they have all of the clothing. To the right of the clothing they also have Halloween stuff!! It doesn't look like they have a large selection of Halloween stuff yet, it only took up one rack for now but I'm hoping they expand because I ended up going shopping at another store right after this and I bought way less than I did at Ross and I paid almost 3 times as much for it. They also have a huge selection of mugs, kitchen wares and miscellaneous items, bedding and baby stuff. I think I spent close to an hour just wandering around and shopping and finding random things that I absolutely had to have. When I was finally done I walked up to the line for the cash register, there was no one in line by the time I was ready to check out so that was nice. The cashier was super sweet! I'm sure she was ready to go home because it was close to closing time so I'm sure her shift was so close to ending but she didn't make it seem like she was trying to rush you out the door or anything. She greeted you with a smile and a really pleasant tone, she checked me out pretty quick and I didn't need a bag so she put all my stuff back in the little fabric bin that I was originally holding everything in. Overall I had a good experience, I really like that I didn't pay a lot for what I purchased, and the cashier at the end was the icing on the cake for a pleasant experience here. Beyond rude customer service We arrived 30 mins before closing and got literally pushed up to the register to check out. Before payment was even inserted the cashier Tina proceeded to tell the next customer they had to put all there items where I was standing if they wanted to be helped. Um I wasn't even checked out yet and they wanted my space invaded. Even the customers in line behind us thought that was odd and politely waited. Cashier was not happy. A very small Ross that looked like it just went through Black Friday all over again. Every aisle was disorganized and there were items out of their shelves and on the floor. Actually it looked like a huge earthquake just struck the store, and by this I mean they literally had the whole carpet and mats aisle on the floor as well as pillows.. You would have to step on the merchandise and pick things off the floor in-order to view them. I feel like the employees don't do a very good job cleaning this place. And not many cash registers are open. It was a little confusing because there were no people using the cash registers when we were in line, only the return desk was available. And even the lady working there didn't tell us that she was the only one ringing people up. Another thing, she seemed so impatient. Her fake customer service was very noticeable as she flashed smiles here and there when she realized she was rushing us for the payment. In-fact she was talking to us like we knew her or something, it was rude. To save herself, she greeted us off by saying "have a good night and happy New Years", but what she didn't realize was that I heard what she had said to the next customer as we were walking off. Customer service certainly isn't a strength here. While waiting in the checkout line, there was one store rep taking care of everyone while two more reps are doing returns and customer service. Meanwhile, there were three other Ross employees socializing together as everybody waited. I brought it up to the guy wearing woman's earrings and he really didn't care. I love Ross they have great deals! However the workers at this Ross are extremely rude and hostile. Of course not everyone but the floor associates were unfriendly . I have been to this Ross twice and the first time I saw a group of young ladies trying on jackets by a mirror when a floor associate yelled at them from across the store to "try it on it the fitting room" in a rude tone. I understand they are doing their job but yelling at customers doesn't seem correct when they can politely go up to them and inform them if that is their new policy. Today I came with my family and forgot to let them know about the trying on jackets rule and my sister was rudely yelled at from across the room. Lastly, when one tries on clothes in the fitting room they talk rudely to you to hang the clothes back on the hangers. Personally I have always done so because it's the right thing to do but the way the associates speak to you makes you feel like they don't enjoy their job and are upset with you for being there. I think this location should talk to their employees about customer service and the manger should try and implement that moving forward. read more

I was told to line up on return lane. 10 mins later another lady comes up to tell me their policy had changed starting TODAY that customers with return items has to fall in line with purchase items line. This is my go to Ross but I had a very bad experience last week when the man at the counter did not honor my return though I provided him with the tags and the receipt. He was too lazy to find out which tag was for which dress. Guess what, I had only 2 dresses and both the tags had clear identification. He ranted and was extremely rude and said if you don't give me the right tags I cannot verify them. When I argued and said what else I had to give he said he was helpless and cannot do anything. After a 2 minute argument he called his manager, the kind lady and she solved the matter in less than a second. Maybe the man was hungry and tired after a long day as it was almost closing time. I pop in here often when I'm in this plaza. I have had some great finds and that's why I keep going back. You have to be patient looking through the inventory. I have found Clark's shoes several times, Adrienne Vittadini items, Bagalini purses for $12 snd $16, Calvin Klein athletic wear, and much more. This is a great place to go if you need luggage. They have a great selection and the price is right. PS The ROSS on Market St. in San Francisco is the largest one I've ever seen. I love scavenging through Ross's racks for great steals on dresses and shoes! Sometimes you just have to invest the time to look because Ross tends to have clothes all over the place! This Ross is not so bad with that. Everything is labeled and nicely hung. What I like about this place is the fitting rooms are super clean! No article of clothing or hangers left behind! And there are plenty of mirrors in the fitting rooms! I probably only picked up one pair of shoes here since my feet are super tiny and there's not many shoes in my size. But they have a bunch of size 7+ shoes! Which is great because that's the average shoe size. I think their hand bag collections is pretty impressive too! There's a bunch of new brand name bags for a really good price! Workers and security guards are always super nice! Not a bad place to shop! read more

2/27/14 - Found exactly what I was looking for and had been to several other stores including two Home Goods stores. I got a matching bathroom soap dispenser, toothbrush holder & soap dish. I also found a nice rug for the kitchen. This store seems to have a lot more in stock than other stores I've looked in. But here's the kicker. I was standing in line and noticed there was a small employee meeting going on in the front of the store. I was next in line, however, the lady in front of me was buying a ton of clothes. Then the meeting ended and the manager who was conducting it noticed me standing in line. He didn't hesitate to open a register and ring me up. I told him I really appreciated it and thanked him. I have 14 years of retail experience and learned that one of the best things a manager can do is ring up customers instead of standing around and putting the customer first. read more

This location I feel is the dumping ground of reject items from actual well stocked Ross stores. When I use to come here I always saw a lot of dirty clothes and the place looked like a tornado went through it. I always felt like I was going to step on something like food or clothes. I'm giving this location 1.5 stars (but I'll be nice and round up). Within the past couple months, this Ross has really gone downhill. When it first opened, it was clean and nice, but now it's one of the dirtiest and messiest Ross locations I've been to! Clothes were all over the floor, half of the racks were empty, there were barely any shoes, and it seemed really empty. I'm pretty tiny and petite and could not find ANY pants in my size at Ross (in the Juniors section). Also, there were probably 2 pairs of shoes in my size (5.5-6). Toys were on the floor and some were half opened. I was very disappointed in how messy this Ross was. In addition, the worker standing right by the door never said hello to anyone which made me feel unwelcomed. I'm not sure whether the cashiers were friendly or not though, since I couldn't find anything in this Ross to buy. read more

This Ross moved from being by Red Lobster in the Almaden Expressway plaza towards the back across from Trader Joe's. Its MUCH nicer and bigger but seems to be lacking in merchandise. Could be that they were cleared out from the holidays but the place is just so big with huge aisles. Seems like they could put more stuff in there. Still a great place to get house and homewares. Got a nice pillows for $9 bucks. Getting clothes at Ross is probably never going to happen but exercise clothes are decent... but I'd have to go into the changing room and ugh sometimes its gross in there. read more

They had 5 worker standing around doing go backs while literally over people were in line and only 2 check outs were open and when we asked if they could open up more check out stands they replied "only 2 cashiers are open". Like that was and answer . We were in line for over 30 minutes and still had Atleast 30 people ahead of us. And the staff was rude . NEVER EVER GOTO THIS STORE. Terrible management "Valarie". I'm super upset with my shopping experience this evening. I worked my ass to the bone today as I do everyday and when I got off I figured I'd swing by Ross to see if I could buy myself and my son each a pair of shoes. Well, to my surprise, I found 3 pairs of shoes for me and 1 for my boy among some other items I was going to purchase. The old security guard usually hangs out up front by the shoes so it was no thing that he continuously walked back and forth through the shoe section while I was picking and trying on shoes but as I got deeper into the store, the guy wouldn't get off my back. He stuck right with me even when the alarm was triggered not once, not twice but 3 times. Pretty obvious he thought I was gonna rip the store off but news to you people, I purchase the items I intend to leave the store with. While I was on the phone with my son about his shoes, I was going through my shoppers bag deciding what i didnt need and began to put a few items back where I got them and i noticed the manager lady staring straight at me. She began to cough and the security guard ran to her side and they whispered to eachother staring at me the whole time. I felt violated, wrongly accused and stalked. More news for you Ross employees, while dude was pretending to look at whatever items he was near at the time and manager lady with her sights set on me, i witnessed 2 young girls put a bunch of makeup into their purses and walk out the front door as well as an older lady who came in with an empty basket and left with the shopping cart full only paying for 2 items. They could have easily caught these thieves and the thieves who walked out triggering the alarm those 3 times if they didnt have their sights set on me. I wasnt doing anything that would allow them to think I was going to do any wrong doing. After a long day of work all I wanted to do was relax and shop for a bit. What a joke that was. In spite of feeling incredibly violated, I still purchased over $100 in merchandise. Now that I've sat down to post this, this review has made me realize that Ross does not deserve my money and will be returning every item I purchased first thing in the morning and wont be returning to this location ever again. I strongly suggest anyone who reads this finds a different Ross to shop at. P.S.
